Rumors of the strange and supernatural grow. Whispers of magicians performing feats of wonder, and sightings of creatures out of myth abound.
Magic is returning, threatening the stability of the modern, industrial world of today.
Former Naval Officer turned explorer Hannibal Harken is determined to find out why. While traveling to his homeland of Cabria to raise funds disaster strikes. A violent and unnatural storm leaves him stranded on an uncharted island with a handful of survivors.
They are not alone, and the locals are none too friendly. Enemies, both old and new, inhabit the island.
Friends are few, resources are scarce, and not all allies are trustworthy. The odds aren't favorable but in Hannibal's line of work they rarely are. He'll need to rely on his wits, courage, and an odd assortment of survivors if he is to escape,
Island of the Lost brings a lot of fun new twists to that classic trope of an adventurer contending with danger on an uncharted island. Lane gives us glimpses into a world that surely has plenty of lore on it's own aside from the supernatural elements, and I'm looking forward to any more Hannibal Harken adventures to find out more of it!
Four stars for Milton Lane's The Island of the Lost. A fun and exciting adventure. I look forward to the next chapter. If you enjoy the pulp fiction of ERB or the Doc Savage stories, you'll enjoy this too.
