Sadie (h) and her husband, Jamie, share a polyamorous marriage with one another that allows the couple to explore their needs and still find love and comfort with one another. She keeps her life carefully compartmentalized, as domestic goddess Sadie during the day and as Domme Lady Luxe at the BDSM club, Haven, she co-owns. A new neighbor, Thatcher (H), challenges Sadie's strict controls, particularly when he shows up at the club and wants to scene with her. By keeping parts of her life separate from one another and ignoring past pain, Sadie has been unable to accept herself fully. Thatcher challenges how she lives her life and spurs her to live a fuller life. Jamie is so supportive of Sadie and comfortable in the life they lead together, and really encourages her to explore what she has going on with Thatcher. The story includes explicit sexual content, trauma, mentions of graphic violence, abuse, and pregnancy loss. It also contains graphic scenes involving BDSM, including discussion and scenes involving pegging, electrical play, degradation, and humiliation. "The Secret Life of a Stepford Wife" is a great statement to always be yourself and not hide from others. It is an amazing experience to read for anyone who is looking for a thrilling story that explores the complexities of human nature coupled with lot of ultra-hot and steamy sexy action.

Female dominatrix...... Fuck the what!!??! Love it 😍
The setting of this book is desperate housewives one min and raunchy romance sex club the next and I'm loving it.
I can't wait to see how Sadie will deal with Thatcher and his nosey self.

this is a new author for me, i am loving this book. i wish i would have found her sooner.
i enjoyed this plot. There was a lot posted about kinks and i guess how things were supposed to be done in that world, that was different. I like the characters tho and the conflicts. I also enjoyed the aspect that Jamie and Sadie were poly. I'm a huge fan of poly romance.

"ARC REVIEW"

Rating: 4 out of 5
Spiciness: 4 out of 5

Trigger Warnings: BDSM, Dom-Sub, polyamory, explicit sexual scenes, degradation and humiliation, mentions of violence, abuse and abortion

Absolutely devoured this in one sitting. The story was not heavy on drama which I love about it because it focused more on the dom-sub dynamic relationship.

I specifically loved how open the communication is between Jamie and Sadie Day. Polyamory is not something I encounter a lot among married couples (in reality or in fiction), but I love how it was depicted in this book.

As far as BDSM goes I think the way it was written was greatly portrayed. The details make the story spicier and more enjoyable to read.

This wasn’t so much a story as it was a “how to” on BDSM safety and etiquette written almost exclusively as dialogue. Interesting from an intellectual standpoint but not really a story. There was character growth, and the writing was more intelligent than some authors I have read recently. Despite the spicy topic, there actually weren’t that many spicy scenes…mostly lectures. However, I do appreciate the author attempting to integrate sexuality into every-day-life, highlighting that we often hide our true selves in order to play a role society expects of us.

Another fantastic book by Elle Sparrow! I was sucked in from the very beginning and read it in one evening.

I loved the Domme/Sub dynamic and the growth of their relationship. Their scenes at the club were fantastic!

Another I didn’t want to put it down read from Elle Sparrow!

Honestly sometimes I forget just how hot her books are. I love her writing and gobble it up when I get her books. The way she writes her characters really brings them to life.

Sadie Day lives the perfect life, or at least that’s what she portrays in box number 1. But by night fall she also lives the life of Femdomme Lady Luxe. Both sides of her life kept separate, just the way Sadie likes it.

But what happens when someone from box 1 ends up in box two? That’s exactly what this story is.

How refreshing it is to see the female in the dominant role and male as the submissive. But not just any submissive, as would be expected from Elle who has always given us these beautiful strong female submissives, I don’t know why I was so shocked when she wrote Thatcher to be a strong male submissive.

I can’t wait to see what you bring us next but I know it will be amazing.

Sadie and Jamie are in an open marriage and Sadie is a Domme engaging in BDSM outside of their relationship. This story is about Sadie finding that D/s relationship outside of her marriage with their new neighbor 👀

After reading through the book’s summary blurb, the triggers, the tropes. and the hashtags, I will readily admit I went into this book with no small amount of skepticism. This is largely in part to the general stereotype that a female Dominant (domme, dominatrix, domina, mistress, etc.) is sleazy, overly assertive, or aggressive. All too often, this idea of a fem Domme is restrictive, exaggerates the sexual characteristic of a “sexy” woman, and implies sexual sadism, as if the violence of the act is what gets her off. The shock value of being a woman Dominant is extremely rooted in conservative ideas of the gender binary and so we are judged much more harshly for our desires if they veer from the traditional heteronormativity.

The idea of “natural” gendered roles regarding sex, dominance, submission, and relationships is challenged throughout this book, which is at first glance, titled perfectly. A “Stepford Wife” is a married woman who submits to her husband’s will and is preoccupied by domestic duties, and our girl Sadie seems to be no different. As readers, we have before us a stay-at-home wife in a beautiful home in the ‘burbs, with a loving husband, a sassy best friend, and the WASP-y bitch of a neighborhood HOA enforcer. Typical, right?

Elle Sparrow takes all of this in hand and brings to life a series of characters that don’t just embrace the tropes and hashtags but challenges them with absolute glee. When I first started out with Sadie, I was worried this was going to be just another story that forced the characters to make life-altering choices to the detriment of their presumably happy lives. And I have never been so happy to be right. Written from a first-person point of view, readers will find themselves sympathizing with Sadie’s justifications for her actions while also wanting to reach through the pages to shake some sense into her. When she is driven to face the consequences of her judgements based on traditional stereotypes, readers may find themselves in the same situation I found myself – guilty of the same reactions and not a little shamed.

The traditional narrative that Dominant women are just mimicking men is a popular anti-BDSM trope that is completely misleading. In reality, Dominant women strive to not only build and manifest their own personal power as a good Dom, but to encourage others to tremble at their feet… in anticipation. Elle Sparrow breathes life into a BDSM community beautifully built around boundaries, communication, adventure, pride, and love for the experience as well as the person in a male-dominated world. Sadie gives Alpha Women the chance to see that we can create our own happiness as we work through our own trauma and fear. And to top it off, you get some gorgeously written and seriously yummy spice that make you shiver, shake, and beg for more.

***Please note that this review is mainly for my benefit as it is more of a summary of the book and may contain spoilers.***

Sadie and her husband, Jamie, have been married for 10 years. From the outside, she is the perfect Stepford wife. She is social with all of her neighbors, loves to bake, and adores her husband. But at night, she is a Domme at a sex club that she co-owns. Her husband is asexual and they have a polyamorous relationship. He has had a long term partner in the past, but she has never had a romantic relationship with anyone other than him since they got married.
When a new neighbor moves in, she decides to take over some home baked goods. She is immediately attracted to his appearance and his charm. Later that night, she performs at the sex club. She looks into the crowd and sees her new hot neighbor. She assumes he is a Dom and a little rude to him, but is still attracted to him. He is offended that she assumed he is a Dom and not a Sub. To ease over the situation, she offers to do a scene with him as her Sub, and he agrees. The scene goes wonderfully.
Her husband encourages her to take a chance and date the hot new neighbor. She resists for weeks, but eventually decides to give it a shot. They go on a date, and end up kissing in the restaurant. They go back to his house, and they have amazing sex. The next morning, she wakes up in his bed, and she decides to sneak out and go home. Unfortunately, the nosy, rude woman on the HOA sees her. The woman tells everyone in the neighborhood what she saw, and the neighbors turn on Sadie. She pulls back from the hot neighbor because of the backlash. After encouragement from her husband, she reveals severe trauma from her past to the hot neighbor. Sadie, her husband, and the hot neighbor decided to throw a get together for the neighborhood to put everything out in the open and put her cheating rumors to rest.
They live happily ever after.

Once again 5 Stars for Elle Sparrow!

I do not need to tell you about trigger warnings. If you are familiar with Elle Sparrow books, you know what you are getting with her books. Just read it and love it.

I honestly wasn't sure how I felt going into this book. I sadly thought it was either going to be overdone or underdone (with Poly lifestyle). I was definitely pleasantly surprised. It was well executed and left me wanting more of this story. The story follows our heroine, Sadie Day. To an outsider (and her neighbors) she lives a picture perfect life. She is happily married to an amazing man, Jamie, and spends most of her time baking desserts that make everyone jealous. Plus, she is liked by everyone. What no one knows is that Sadie has a unique lifestyle and career. While her and her husband love one another, they are polyamorous. They both agree to be in other romantic relationships, but that's not it. Sadie is also a well established Domme, with a few subs, at a club she partially owns.

Being the "Stepford" wife she is, she gets excited when a new neighbor moves in down the street. So what does she do? She bakes muffins to welcome the neighbor, Thatcher. And imagine her surprise when she is approached by the same neighbor after a scene at a sex club?! Oh how this story unfolds. The drama, the trauma, and intense emotion. Even though Sadie is in a Polyamorous marriage, she hasn't actually been in a romantic relationship outside of her marriage. This story is her journey and her discovery in a way. She has ups and downs, but the story is addictive. I was upset when it ended. I felt like I needed more.

A secret house of cards
All is not what it seems, especially when you think of the picture in your head, if you have ever read or watched the movie titled The Stepford Wives. Never judge a book by its title. LOL.
This was a very interesting read. Sadie, the main female character, leads a double life – the perfect housewife by day and the co-owner of a lifestyle club by night. She leads a rather unconventional lifestyle with her husband Jamie and believes that this lifestyle is all she needs to be happy. But if truth be told, Sadie has closed her heart off to living a full and rich life due to past trauma that she has chosen to ignore rather than deal with it. She thinks she is happy and her life is complete – that is until a new neighbor moves into the community. Little does she know, when she takes some baking to him to welcome him to the community, that her life is going to change in a big way. When her new neighbor shows up at her lifestyle club, everything she had tried to portray and protect about herself, her marriage and their lifestyle is going to come down like a house of cards. The question becomes, can she rise from the ashes of this fallen house of cards before it destroys her and any chance at true happiness?
This was quite an enjoyable read as Sadie had to re-discover who she is, make peace with her past and move forward in her life.

"The Secret Life of a Stepford Wife" by Elle Sparrow is a gripping and thought-provoking novel that explores the complex and often hidden facets of human desire and the lengths people will go to keep their secrets safe.

At the center of the story is Sadie Day, a woman who seems to have it all - a loving husband, a beautiful home in a perfect suburban neighborhood, and all the trappings of a happy and fulfilled life. But as night falls on Apple Grove, Sadie sheds her polite and restrained facade and transforms into Lady Luxe, a dominant and powerful woman who finds release and fulfillment in the world of BDSM.

As Sadie navigates the challenges of balancing her secret desires with the expectations of her picture-perfect life, she must also confront a new and unexpected threat to her carefully constructed facade. With the arrival of a new face at Club Haven, the private club where she indulges her fantasies, Sadie is forced to confront her own fears and desires in ways that she never thought possible.

Elle Sparrow weaves a gripping and provocative story that delves into the hidden depths of human desire and the complex web of secrets that people keep to protect themselves and their loved ones. "The Secret Life of a Stepford Wife" is a must-read for anyone who is looking for a thrilling and thought-provoking novel that explores the complexities of human nature.

The Secret Life of a Stepford Wife

Sadie is your perfect suburban housewife by day and an dominatrix (Domme as she prefers to be called) by night. She loves her kinks and loves to keep them separate from her day life, until Thatcher walks in and threatens to shake everything up. Is she willing to let him in and risk her secrets?

This may be a spoiler, but I feel it's one anyone who doesn't like cheating should read: Sadie does not cheat on her husband James. They are in a poly relationship, so anything Sadie does is not cheating to them and vice versa.

I loved how we finally have a book with a Domme and one who is realistic and not forced feeling. Sadie knows what she wants and when Thatcher comes in, she is thrown off. I loved that he was a strong male submissive and that he didn't try to take power away from her. It's refreshing to have the roles reversed and done so properly.

The ending was hilarious to me, as people who don't understand this type of relationship will make up 'sinister' facts about it to view it as a terrible monstrosity (looking at your Mrs. Snyder!).

Elle Sparrow delivers once again with a beautiful and unique character perspectives. This story is an amazing look into a female dominant’s head. It not only delivers a fantastic view from a dominant female, it also delves into the intricacies of processing trauma and healing from that trauma. It is a wonderful showcase of how compartmentalizing and ignoring past pain can prevent a person from accepting themselves fully. Sadie is living two lives, and works hard to keep those lives separate. As two separate parts of herself, instead of realizing both parts are her. I loved how even the tone of dialogue changed depending on what aspect of life Sadie was in. This story is a steaming hot experience that leads to healing and acceptance. It’s an amazing experience to read and should not be missed out on!

This book was such a fascinating read.

A seemingly ordinary housewife has a secret life no one truly understands. Sadie Day has gone through a lot in her life which has caused her to become particular in how she separates the different parts of her life until Thatcher Wells comes into her life throwing everything off kilter.

The major focus on communication and trust was so magical for all people involved in this relationship. I am a little worried that the trauma in this was glossed over a little and that a man was able to fix her problems. Everything else in this book was absolutely amazing and I want another book just on everything that happened with Jamie or at least an epilogue on what life a couple of months later could be.

Such an intriguing read! I love Sadie and admire her resilience even if she had been avoiding her trauma instead of facing it. I completely understand her needing time to be able to face it. Jamie is just the sweetest! His devotion, protection, and adoration for Sadie are so beautiful and endearing!

Then there was Thatcher. Yowza. I love that as a submissive, he still stands with such strength and courage and raw masculinity. I like that he's portrayed in such a way to help understand the submissive role and that it's not some fragile position.

I really enjoyed this book. I liked learning more about the BDSM community and seeing new possibilities for what a relationship is and isn't. Well-written too! Good work, Elle!

It was rough putting this book down so get some sleep, that much is for sure.

Living a double life, being a badass Domme, being a loving wife and having the freedom to explore love with other people, you’d think Sadie had it made.
But she wants to keep her life in neat little boxes. Her Poly life with her husband and her Domme side being hidden from her quaint little suburban lifestyle.
It works, until Thatcher moves in down the street and starts making waves in her tidy world.

I seriously ate this up! The storyline and plot are good, the characters fleshed out, the dialogue distinct for each person, and the vibe… oh the vibe!

I only wish there had been MORE spice, and detail for the scenes.

The Secret Life of a Stepford Wife is another wonderful read by this author. Sadie is a heroine that tugs on the heartstrings, she is so torn. Both her husband and Thatcher are wonderful heroes, each strong in their own way, each complementing a different part of her personality. Their story is not so much easy entertainment but rather riveting, sometimes heart-breaking. There are discussions of trauma, seriously kinky scenes and different forms of sexuality. There is small-town gossip and machinations, yet also friendship, support and a great, nose-thumbing happy ending.

I enjoyed this! The relationship dynamics were Definitely more unique than what I typically read, but I enjoyed it none the less.
Thatcher 🥰❤️

I don’t like when a major hang up in the book is kept a secret until towards the end. That was the case here.
This book was 70% pep talks from side characters given to the FMC to help her deal with her mysterious past/trauma. I loved what they had to say, but it began to sound kind of preachy, since it was repeated so often and usually ended up with the FMC denying everything and shutting down.

-The neighborhood reminded me of the neighborhood from WandaVision. It was a bit unrealistic.

-I really wish we would’ve gotten the MMC’s pov

Unexpectedly good!!!

Very cool book!! At first I wasn’t sure if this type of book for me as I usually don’t pick books with a strong female MC or polyamory, but WOW was I shocked!! This story had a great plot just like so many of Elle’s other books and I was hooked from the first page. If you’re looking for something a little different, but riveting you should definitely read this!!

This was by far my favorite book of Elle’s so far! I absolutely loved the characters and their stories. The amount of love in the characters and respect for each other after getting past initial biases/quick judgements made in the beginning. I honestly hope this becomes a series and her friend Danielle is next!

Ms. Sparrow does it again! Another steamy page turner that I couldn’t put down. I have to admit I’m not always a fan of the Submissive male but she did it so well! I absolutely adored him. She wrote Thatcher as strong male character who didn’t put up with any crap. And Sadie was the perfectly flawed but lovable heroine. Can’t wait for more from Ms Sparrow.

Having a book with a female dom seems so difficult to find! This is well written and such a breath of fresh air. Most books have the female sub who need to get over her past using her new relationships but having a female dominant main character is a blessing! I cannot wait for more from this author!!!

The blurb had me at “Lady Domme Extraordinaire” - what a steamy story… in some ways it reminded me vaguely of Sex/life but better written and of course a different storyline altogether but it was as sultry as the tv show. Great teasers and can’t wait for the next book!.

Beautiful Tumultuous Story!

Wow! Sadie’s story is full of trauma and anxiety but it’s beautifully told and so so steamy. I LOVE the male submissive aspect. The only only thing that could’ve made this better is if we had Thatcher’s POV. I found myself longing for his perspective many times.
