Molly Hendrickson’s self-confidence has taken a massive dent. Reeling from her ex-fiancé’s betrayal, the schoolteacher feels as dusty as the stuff she’s cleaning out of her late mother’s home. But when she puts on an old necklace she finds, it awakens unfamiliar and deliciously spicy desires…

A twelfth-century knight turned modern-day antiques dealer, his desperate pact with a powerful sorcerer’s organization left him duty-bound to contain danger. Haven’t you had one piece of jewelry that makes you feel a little sassy and sexy when you wear it? Molly found a necklace that did just that during the heartbreaking task of sorting through her late mother’s home and belonging. What she would discover would be that sometimes even if something feels magical, it may not be the magic one would want to touch.

Lucian is a 12th century reincarnated knight. Now living in Cat’s Paw Cove, Florida, a town secretly harboring magic beings of all kinds, he helps his grandfather run his antique shop. When Molly brings in some items for his appraisal, he feels the darkness of tainted magic around her. Who or what is Molly? How can Lucian be falling for someone who harbors dark magic? Is it the necklace? How can he get it from her? What evil is living within her bright soul?

HOT MAGIC by Catherine Kean is a delightfully quirky and dangerously dark tale of mystery and magic and the mayhem it can cause as two souls find an attraction that was meant to be amidst the deadly terror of evil.

I love this little town, filled with magical cats, powerful magic users and citizens who just made me smile. All may not be sunshine and roses and of course, evil often slithers in, but the magic of love shines brightest! Cozy reading, a sweet romance and a magical mystery to solve make for a delightful escape! Cat lovers, you are going to love this series! I was amazed at how quickly this tale flew by!

I received a complimentary copy from Catherine Kean! This is my honest and voluntary review.

Fun book with romance and a battle between good and evil. The book opens with a prologue telling how Lucian and his cat, Galahad, ended up in the position they are in. Lucian is a reincarnated knight whose mission is to track down objects with dark magic and contain them. He is in Cat's Paw Cove helping his grandfather with his antique shop after getting in trouble with his bosses for revealing his magical abilities to his non-magical girlfriend. The revelation did not save the relationship, so he's off relationships for the time being.

Molly is a third-grade teacher who is in Cat's Paw Cove to clear out her late mother's home before selling it. Her self-esteem took a hit when her fiancé broke off their engagement, and her mother's death added to her unhappiness. When she finds an unusual necklace and tries it on, it changes the way she sees herself.

I liked the first meeting between Molly and Lucian. He and Galahad first notice her as she stood in front of the shop. Lucian is attracted to her from the moment he sees her, a fact that isn't lost on Galahad. Galahad, who was formerly Lucian's squire, is a fourteen-year-old boy in a cat's body. It was fun to see Galahad stir up Lucian during Molly's first visit. Molly is just as attracted as Lucian and has a hard time concentrating around him.

Things start to get crazy when Molly takes some jewelry to Lucian but keeps the necklace for herself. On the professional side, Lucian's dark magic alarms go crazy every time Molly takes the necklace out of its special box, but because Molly puts it away quickly, Lucian has a hard time locating the source of the magic. Every time that Molly puts the necklace on, she feels sexier and more confident, and more determined to have Lucian. It quickly becomes clear that the dark magic has a personal connection to Lucian after a hair-raising confrontation at his shop. I ached for Lucian when instructions from his bosses made it look like his relationship with Molly would be over before it began. The final confrontation was intense and terrifying as Lucian battled to save Molly from the evil that followed him through the ages.

This was the darkest of the Cat's Paw Cove stories so far. The intensity of the danger Molly was in kept me glued to the pages until it was done. The evil was balanced by the depth of the love that Lucian and Molly felt for each other. That love played a huge part in the resolution of the final conflict. There was also an unexpected twist in the aftermath of the confrontation that had a big impact on Lucian and Molly's future.

On the lighter side, the cats were an essential part of the story. I loved Galahad and his relationship with Lucian. It was fun to see him rile Lucian up, especially when it came to Molly. He was also Lucian's biggest supporter and backup when danger came calling. The four Sherwood cats that belonged to Molly's mother turned out to be more than just pets. Their protectiveness of Molly was fun to see when Lucian came calling, and I loved the interactions between them and Lucian.

There are talking cats!!!! Sorry if you consider that a spoiler, but I would have been drawn in even more by that so I’m helping you out.

Lucian and Galahad are my favorites. They are joined with Molly and her band of felines for all kinds of mayhem. The black magic element is riveting and kept me on my toes.

Cat Paw’s Cove is a truly cool place and I can’t wait to see what else this town has to offer!

Yet another winner

I have loved reading Catherine's books since she first got published, and this one didn't disappoint. Great story, interesting characters, and some zany cats make this a story worth reading. I loved how she was able to combine her historical flair with modern day magic. As always, a great read and a fun addition to the Cat's Paw Cove collection.

5 STARS!!!

I absolutely loved this story. Not only is there 1 talking cat but 5!! The relationship between Galahad and Lucian is a friendship for the ages. They have been stuck together for centuries and that bond comes across clearly in the writing. When Lucian and Molly meet you can see the sparks flying straight off the pages. This is my first visit to Cat's Paw Cove and I can honestly say it will not be my last. This is the 5th book in the series but I did not feel in the dark even though I had not read the first 4 in the series. Catherine Kean bridges the gap between the Lucian and Galahad's past and their modern future. I did not want the story to end and I hope that we get more of these characters, and cats, in future novels. Also, I would love to see Cora in more stories as well.

Thank you NetGalley and Catherine Kean for allowing me to read this ARC for my honest review.

Molly is cleaning out her mother's house, with the intention of putting it up for sale. She comes across a necklace that looks expensive. After trying it on she likes how sexy it makes her feel and decides she is going to keep it. The other costume jewelry she took to Black Cat Antiquities to have appraised by Lucian Lord, a reincarnated knight. Lucian's job is to obtain and secure any magical devices that contain dark magic. Every time Molly puts on the necklace Lucian's devices that monitor black magic go off, and each time the danger escalates. Lucian with the help of his familiar set out to track down the device leading them straight to Molly, who Lucian is very attracted too. With Molly's help he does secure the necklace, proving love does conquer all. Very good story and I am looking forward to the next Cat's Paw Cove book.

Molly discovers a new world when she finds a necklace left amongst her late mother’s things. Lucian serves to protect others from dark magic. He falls for Molly’s kindness quickly but has a history of bad luck with romance. Molly struggles with poor self-esteem after a horrible engagement left her hurt and afraid to take a chance. The necklace gives her power but, it is a dark power. This was a fun and adventurous installment of the Cat’s Paw Cove series. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Magic, mystery and love this story has it all. Our hero is a reincarnated 12th century knight who has learned a thing or two over the years. He is tasked with keeping dark magic items safe and out of the hands of those who would use and abuse them. Our heroine has unwittingly stumbled across one such item and Lucian is tasked with obtaining it by any means necessary. What he didn’t count on was Molly stealing his heart. This is a fun tale filled with snarky talking cats and the magic of love. Though this is part of a series it can be read standalone.

Lucien has been cursed to perpetual reincarnation after rejecting unwanted affections. He’s currently running his grandfather’s antique shop. Molly is in town after her mother’s death. She asks to have some of her mother’s things appraised. However, a tainted necklace may change everything. Cat’s Paw Cove is an enjoyable series, where hilarious cats are major characters.

Lucien Lord is a trained antiquities specialist who is minding the Black Cat Antiquities Shop in Cat's Paw Cove for his grandfather, who raised him after his parents died, and is on a cruise. He'll be taking over the shop after his grandfather retires. Lucien's cat, Galahad, keeps him company while working and they have been together for a long time.
Molly Hendrickson is a 3rd grade teacher who is in Cat's Paw Cove to take care of her selling her mother's house after her death. She's going through her things and finds some things to take to the antiquities shop. Her Mom also has 4 very special cats, Rose, Marigold, Petunia & Daisy, that Molly will keep with her. Things start to go creepy after Molly finds a special necklace and puts in on.
Then there's the evil group, The Dealers who are also after the necklace and won't stop at anything to get it. Lucien knows what the necklace but will he be able to save Molly and continue to work on their attraction to each other?
Loved this magical and fantastic story with great characters and 5 awesome & special cats. Love this series and can't wait for the next one.

Princess Fuzzypants here: I keep saying I am not a huge romance fan and yet with each book of this series I read, I enjoy the stories thoroughly. Whether it is the cool and canny cats, the right touch of magic and the just enough lusty stuff to tickle the fancy without being too explicit, ,this one does not disappoint.
Lucian is a knight from the Middle Ages reincarnated time and again with his trusty squire Galahad who just happened to be turned into a cat when the two were cursed by an evil witch. This life, he is an antiques expert covering his grandfather’s store while he is off cruising. In walks Molly whose mother has died recently. She wants him to assess some of her belongings as she sorts through her late mother’s home. She brings in some interesting items but she also brings in the remnants of something sinister, something that could harm Molly and create a disaster.
Lucian is a guardian for good so he is enlisted to find out what the source of this evil is and try to protect Molly and the entire community from it’s darkness. Little does he realize but the ancient evil has a highly personal grudge to settle with him and is going to use everything possible, including Molly, to get revenge.
The humans are pretty neat but it is Galahad and the other kitties who rule. Galahad is a hoot, snarky and sassy and very, very funny. He is also a fine wing man. It all works out, as we know it will, but not without some thrilling moments.
Five purrs and two paws up.

While clearing out her late mother's home in Cat's Paw Cove, Florida, Molly Hendrickson finds an unusual antique necklace. Wearing it makes her feel confident and sexy--things she hasn't felt since her ex broke off their engagement or, really, ever. She decides to keep the jewel but takes other items to Black Cat Antiquities, the local antique store, to have them appraised. Lucian Lord, a reincarnated 12th century knight, moved to Cat's Paw Cove after a scandal in which he revealed his magical abilities to his former girlfriend. Demoted by his superiors, he's running the antiques shop while his grandfather is on vacation. But, when Molly brings in artifacts tainted by dark magic, Lucian is duty-bound to find and contain the dangerous energy before it wreaks havoc not only on the town, but the world. Living by the knightly code of honor, Lucian vows to help Molly, especially when he realizes the necklace is the source of the ancient magic he's hunting. He's determined to save his headstrong damsel and redeem his tarnished reputation--but first, things will get very, very hot.
This was a fun read that had me glued to every page. I liked both Lucian and Molly as well as Galahad. I can’t wait to read more from this author. I highly recommend.

This book was like paranormal meets the hallmark channel. It was sweet, funny, and exciting. I definitely fell a little bit in love with Lucian and Galahad. Molly was refreshingly normal and fun. I loved how seamlessly the magic worked into the story and the lives of the characters.

I was left, however, with so many questions at the end of the book.

Maybe this is the beginning of more books about Lucian and Molly - or maybe this is just one step in many and all my questions will be answered!

Fans of paranormal with a side of sweetness will definitely love this story!
