A Kiki Long Mystery #1

Shoot First, Ask Questions Later: Midlife, Murder and Mirth

Rate this book
Pet portrait artist Kiki Long is driving to her first day of work at her new job as the Pride Falls forensic photographer when she spots a smoking car that's skidded off the road.

After confirming nobody is inside, her natural inclination to document what she's witnessing takes over and she starts taking
pictures, which means she's standing too close when the vehicle explodes.

Now she's dealing with a head injury and an irate detective who accuses her messing up his crime scene. That's nobody's definition of a good first day.

But she did do a good job with the photos. They prove that the owner of the car didn't die in the explosion, and they give the ornery detective a place to start his investigation.

It's the goat that Kiki saw before she started snapping photos that makes her curious. Despite the detective's dismissal of her idea, she starts her own amateur sleuthing along with her two best friends, Her curiosity just might just get them all killed.

Kiki is back with her new job working for the police. She stumbles upon a crash and decides to start her job immediately. Of course she can’t let the police handle it alone and investigates herself. Another great cast of characters in a fun, must read series by JB Lynn! Looking forward to more Kiki adventures.

Excellent read. I can't wait for the next episode. JB Lynn does it again

JB Lynn's "Shoot First, Ask Questions Later" is an excellent read that seamlessly combines action, suspense, mystery, and a delightful touch of humor. This gripping novel introduces readers to the fascinating world of Kiki Long, a crime scene photographer with deductive skills reminiscent of Sherlock Holmes.

From the very first page, Lynn captures readers' attention and keeps them hooked until the final chapter. The story is filled with unexpected twists and turns, ensuring that the suspense never wanes. Each scene is expertly crafted, immersing readers in the heart-pounding action and making it difficult to put the book down.

Kiki Long is a captivating protagonist. Her unique profession as a crime scene photographer brings a fresh perspective to the mystery genre. Lynn skillfully develops Kiki's character, allowing readers to connect with her on a deeper level. Kiki's deductive skills, combined with her wit and humor, make her a truly memorable and engaging lead.

One of the standout features of this book is the perfect balance of suspense and humor. Lynn's skillful use of comedic moments provides a welcome respite from the intense action, adding depth and dimension to the story. The humor is cleverly woven into the narrative, enhancing the overall reading experience.

Lynn's writing style is engaging and fast-paced, keeping readers enthralled from start to finish. The author's attention to detail is evident, particularly in the vivid descriptions of crime scenes and investigative procedures. This attention to accuracy adds authenticity to the story, making it all the more compelling.

"Shoot First, Ask Questions Later" is a highly enjoyable and satisfying read. JB Lynn has crafted a captivating mystery that will leave readers eagerly anticipating the next installment in the Kiki Long series. With its blend of action, suspense, mystery, and humor, this book is a must-read for fans of the genre.

Kiki Long is a pet photographer who has taken a job as a crime scene photographer for the local police. Turns out she can handle herself well at crime scenes, and she's good at documenting the area. Better still, she thinks outside of the box and offers valuable help in solving crimes. Too bad she has to hone her skills in a case that puts her on a murderer's radar! Kiki is a hardworking woman who has had a run of rotten luck. Now she is being appreciated for her skills by most of the officers that are her co-workers.

A fun book to read that has hidden clues that I feel pretty sure will develop in future books. Wonderful characters who add a lot of side stories to the picture. Moments of despair, but generally upbeat in the face of her problems, and Kiki doesn't dwell on those problems. Her realistic reactions and good attitude makes her someone you'd like to spend time around. Happily there is another book in the works! Terrific author and excellent book... a winning combination!

JB Lynn is a terrific author. She is funny and knows how to grab the reader at the very beginning. I love all of her books. This is Book 2 in a new series featuring a newly appointed police photographer, Kiki Long. Kiki’s husband disappeared about a year ago but so far no body. Kiki thinks she saw him but it was dark and she figures no one will believe her so she doesn’t say anything. Eventually, someone else sees him and his secret is unraveled. There are funny characters and animals. Loki the goat is especially endearing. This is another great series but her other series are worth a read. So, if you are looking for a funny series with lots of action, some crazy animals, give her Hit Woman series a try. I’ve read all of her books and enjoyed every one.

a really wonderful new series! I love Kiki! she is a photographer for the police dept, after living down the reputation of her missing husband. There is murder and mayhem, and she is now starting her own amateur sleuthing after finding an exploded car with no one in it on the side of the road. Will her curiosity kill her? Lots of twists and turns, unpredictable events and complex and quirky characters make this a real page turner and a must read! I cannot wait for the next book~

good for the most part

Enjoyable read but the honest to goodness annoyance of our lead character not being honest to law enforcement in a situation of theft and protecting another person that is extremely aggressive towards her is plainly out of character. The fact that her friends also choose to NOT report the theft is also a problem and difficult to stomach.

New series for this Author I've thought her Hit woman series was enjoyable so I gave this a try I liked the characters and of course Kodak . Didn't realise it was the second book. Now to read the 1st. Its a light read with kooky people and a cat solving crimes what can be better.

a new series

This is the start of a new series by JB Lynn. It has many of the elements you come to expect: good friends, family animals (well one really smart cat) and a quirky plot. I can say I was engrossed throughout. I can’t wait for the next book!
