Sapphic Seas #2

The Pirate's Pursuit: A Sapphic Seas Romance

Rate this book
Lisbet Clarke knows how to fend for herself in the growing pirate haven of Nassau, and is quite content doing it. When a woman from her past steps back into her life, she is forced to finally contend with old memories and betrayals. Yet, she can’t help but wonder what might have been had things ended differently between them. Kit Murphy never thought she would see the island she grew up on again. But face to face with her first love, there is no place she would rather be. Kit is eager to make amends and rebuild a connection with the only person who understood her, even if fate seems to have other plans. Thrown together on a dangerous voyage, Kit and Lisbet must fight for their lives… and their love. The Pirate's Pursuit is the second book in the Sapphic Seas romance series by Wren Taylor. New characters meet familiar favorites in this steamy, swashbuckling tale set in the Golden Age of Piracy.

Second book in this pirate series and old characters like Elinor, Mona, and Lisbet were revisited, and some new characters were introduced like Kit. Nassau is continuing to grow, and you learn more about some of the more side characters from book one. I’m still really enjoying this series I read this book in a day I really can’t get enough of these characters. There was still adventures in this one, maybe not as much as book one, but still really enjoyed it! The next book in the series is set up to be as epic as book one and I can’t wait to read what the author comes up with!

this book is definitely stronger than the first one was. the characters feel more fleshed out and their dynamic works so well. i think the plot of this one could’ve been slightly stronger but it was still an enjoyable read.

Wonderful book with complex characters

I adored this slow burn sapphic romance book although the intimate scenes could have been a bit more frequent and reciprocated for my linking. Plus, if you're someone who cringes a lot when bad decisions are made or good people do bad things , you might find this book a bit harder but I adored how realistic both characters were. What I did enjoy though was the very detailed environment and interesting plot along with interesting side characters. I also loved the comfort and fluffiness between the two main characters when they do get there.
I honestly really recommend it even if I had a few critics, it's one of a kind and worth reading.

Grammar Checking Needed

This book is in desperate need of either proofreading or the use of a grammar checker. There are instances where a word is obviously missing and times where a wrong word is used (such as "it" instead of "in"). Spellchecks don't help when the wrong word is spelled correctly.
The plot moves along nicely. The characters are okay, and the scenic descriptions make it easy to visualize what's happening.
I liked the first book in the series better, but the sequel did a respectful job.
I look forward to future books by this author.

While I enjoyed seeing Mona and Elinor live their HEA, this book needed editing. There were missing words and lots of spelling errors.

The relationship between Lisbet and Kit felt forced and the only thing that kept them together was sex. And Lisbet never noticed that Kit had no scars on her back? Just seemed like an obvious detail that was deliberately overlooked so Elinor didn’t look bad. Keeping that secret was not plausible. I wish I had been able to connect more to the characters.

However, the spice was good. Definitely an improvement from the first book.

I really enjoyed this book. It struck a real balance of idealism and realism. The characters make difficult choices, you want to scream at them… but it’s all so justified and you can feel the fear that motivates their decisions. The time period and setting break your heart, one of the main characters working as a prostitute. But, she owns the role she’s been forced into, and does things in her own terms, scarping her happiness together too. I also enjoyed that the sapphic romance was mainly between two characters who weren’t of high station. Not your usual captain and stowaway trope. A great read. Thoroughly recommend.

i loved this book, more RAW that the first one. Did no expected it was from lisbeths POV and was scared i would miss elinor and mona but the author had a great way of giving them protagonism.

I likes how lisbeths story was a bit more RAW and how the author writes.

this is a romance and fantasy in which conflicts are triumphaly and easily solved is easy to read and it feel like a band aid to the heart to think like could be this blissfully

Good book

A wonderful love story that has to take three times to make it happen. Kit and Lisbet where met to be, it was fate that keeps bring them coming back together. Kit is a pirate that posed as a boy to survive. Lisbet a lady of the night. A story of learning to talk and not run. Having assumptions and not the whole truth can lead to not having the right answers.

This was a fun pirate adventure. This book had just as much action as the first, but I think what really stood out to me were how fleshed out the characters were. Certainly, that is typical in sequels, but some don’t do quite as well with that aspect. I’m certainly looking forward to book 3.

Wonderful

I loved this story. I love the feel of it, the inclusion to a pirate family if I may say. I hope, Wren Taylor you write many more.

I read both books in 2 days. I hope that Wren writes many more. I enjoyed getting to know many of the characters from the first book better.

Beautiful

Fears laid bare as social constructs break a love affair only to be reunited again. Love knows no boundaries nor no genre. Given the chance it could lead to a HEA.

It was okay, I felt like the romance between Kit and Lizbeth was surface level and the story was too quick

I opted to read this because I liked the first book in the series a lot but this book was a little harder to trudge through, mostly because of the sheer amount of grammatical errors and typos. It felt like the author never even did a pass for spelling mistakes and It really started to take me out of the story. I think I actually enjoyed getting to see more of Elinor and Mona than the two leads in this story and while this story wasn’t bad necessarily, it definitely doesn’t stand up nearly as strongly next to the first book.

A fairly lackluster follow up to Captain's Choice, I'm honestly disappointed. The characters introduced lacked the charm and depth of the previous novel, and the overall plot was middling. Prose wise, it was grammatical incorrect frequently and frankly amateur in word choice. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone in good conscious.
