Everyone has secrets, some deadlier than others. Psychic Ryley St. James's secrets threaten to kill her, and now both the living and the dead are out for blood.

There’s nothing that Ryley hates worse than her father, but serial killers rank a close second. Alive or dead, they're all the same—they need to be stopped. When a ghostly serial killer torments a young girl, Ryley must put an end to his reign of terror and figure out a way to shove him into the great beyond.

But when a fellow psychic turns up dead, and another one suddenly goes missing, Ryley suspects that it's not just the ghostly threats she needs to worry about. There's also a live predator lurking somewhere in the shadows.

As she gets closer to the truth, she’s forced to confront her own personal demons. Her father's sinister presence is getting dangerously close to her life, the reapers are demanding answers, and the ghostly serial killer wants to add her to his body count.

It's not a matter of if she'll die but who will get credit for killing her first.

Can she keep it together long enough to battle the secrets from her past and deal with these new killers before it's too late?

Grave Secrets
By Kate Allenton
This book has our gal, the psychic, dealing with more ghostly situations, suspense, and her evil father. This also has romance blooming. These are all the books I own in the series so far. Will read more as they come out and when I get the money. Loved all the books I read in this series.

Ryley is such a great character with her psychic abilities her funny snarky comments and being able to handle extreme circumstances.

The big changes that started in the last book - more revelations on those are revealed. This is going to take Ryley's life in a new direction and its going to be interesting to see how things play out.

Let me start by saying I feel like I have been waiting forever for this one. That being said…it was sooooo worth the wait. I read it in a couple of hours. So good‼️

It was fast paced, interesting and I loved the character development. Riley is finally letting some in. I’m really intrigued on where the author is taking this series. Because her Dad needs to be dealt with. So many lies and secrets. We really got to see a glimpse of a bit of a softer Riley with her interactions with certain characters in this story. I’m already ready for more‼️

This author is a must read for me. I love how she weaves a story. Add her to your TBR NOW. For me she is a go to for a paranormal mystery with romance.

Me encantan las aventuras de Riley, que se haya sumado Adler a la pandilla y cómo poco a poco se revelan algunos secretos y surgen otros, se me hará eterna la espera por el siguiente.

I love Riley's adventures, that Adler has joined the gang and how little by little some secrets are revealed and others emerge, I feel like I'll wait forever for the next one.

This series keeps on getting better and better with each installation.

In this book, Ryley St. James is looking for her missing friend, Maggie and her sister, Rose, while taking care of Maggie's daughter, Emily Jane. The little girl is being haunted by an especially mean ghost that lives in her closet and follows her to Ryley's farm. Ryley is doing everything she can to get rid of this thing and goes to extremes to get the job done. It is an uphill battle and I wasn't sure she was going to win.

This book fired on all cylinders. The characters are wonderful, although I do wish we'd had some better descriptions of all of them. They work and play together well. I love the romance between Ryley and Adler. The story was compelling, intriguing, and even tense at times. The suspense kept me turning the pages.

One thing I like about Ms. Allenton's books is that they're unpredictable. I've read 41 books by her and love her story-telling abilities and the paranormal flair to them. Her characters are well-developed and it's easy to care about them and feel what they feel, but at the same time, you never know what's going to happen to any of them. They could be dashed without a moment's notice. That goes for all the books I've read and is not exclusive to just this book.

Truly a great, quick read.

*This is part of a series and I do recommend reading the books in order just so you can see how Ryley St. James evolves with each story. She's making changes, has her own issues to deal with, and has a life of being a psychic and more. You won't be hopelessly lost if you don't read the other books, but it would be a much more satisfying story if you do.

**I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily left a review.

Ryley

Ryley is kept on her feet as she deals with a malevolent ghost, a missing friend, and the fact her father is very much present and causing her problems.

This is a very fast paced book in the series, and one of the shorter reads. It is, however, one that has some very important revelations, and some fairly important things Ryley experiences/realizes.
This is definitely a setup book, in which certain events occur to start some new story arcs, but it also has several storylines that it is following that are only pertinent to this book. Those mysteries are actually wrapped up fairly quickly, though the book ends with a small book-hook/cliffhanger preview from the next book- if you hate cliffhangers, then just don’t read that!

A quick, and important read for this series, with some new intriguing storylines yet to come!
Recommended for paranormal mystery lovers and urban fantasy fans.

This one made me angry

This one fell short for me. In fact, it annoyed me. Ryley and Tucker's dad is back in the picture and apparently a reaper as well. It feels way wrong. If he were, why did he make ryley do all that stuff as a child? Why would the other dealers be ok with him? I mean, he went to jail for trying to kill her for pity sake, he doesn't make sense that all these people would be ok with him. It just makes me mad. And then there's the reapers all acting like she HAS to work for them like a mafia? None of it sits right.
The other storyline is that of her friend Maggie being kidnapped by a man who demands a medium get in touch w his wife and child. Our girl ends up having to take care of Maggie's daughter (also a medium) while they search and take care of business.
Adler and she also decide they are in love.

disappointed

I rarely post an unflattering review, but there were several things that were disappointing in book 4.
It doesn't matter that the police have security watching Ryley, plus her boyfriends security detail, plus carrying a gun, the bad guy still manages to find her and capture her and beat her up. One guy!! Really? Same thing with the mean ghosts. No matter how much sage or salt they get to her and beat her up!
And now the reapers are going to make her work with her abusive father and a grandfather she doesn't know? That would be a big NO unless there's a reason that makes a LOT of sense and resolves a LOT of issues. The fact she's excepting this makes no sense. Hope book 5 is better cause I like the series.

Everybody Grins

All. The. Time. It's disturbing. Finally there was a wink instead of a grin in this book and that is why there is an extra star.

Seriously, this series of books could be a lot better with some decent editing. The story itself is interesting but flawed. The one thing that made Ryley unique everyone has by this book. The FBI agents, her waitress, the waitress' daughter and sister, the funeral make-up guy, and the homeless guy are all psychics of some kind. Those that aren't psychics are some type if killer. And what is up with all the grinning?

The ending suggests there will be another book. I grinned when
I....crap I've been infected. I believe an exorcism is called for. Any one know a priest?

Grave Secrets by Kate Allenton (Lost Souls Society Book 4)

First off, I am a fan of Kate Allenton's writing style and have read/purchased most of her books. This book is book 4 in a series and while it could be read as a stand-alone book, my suggestion would be to read the first 3 books in this series to get a better understanding of Ryley's relationships with the secondary characters and what motivates Ryley to react the way she does to certain situations. Another great read and oh the ending......., looking forward to the next book.

Ryley St. James, a psychic who can see and communicate with the dead, is trying to help the daughter of a friend, Maggie. Little Emily Jane can also see the dead and she is being tormented by a particularly mean ghost. While Ryley tries to help, someone else has their own agenda leading to the disappearance of Emily Jane's aunt, Rose, and her mother, Maggie.

Meanwhile, Ryley is trying to deal with her own issues...including how to get rid of her father, who she hates intensely. Now add a serial killer into the mix and you have a story that will keep you interested until the very end.

Geeat series

Great series. However. A little confusing on the dad aspect now also being a reaper. The whole premise was how her dad forced her to use her skills for bad. Ppl... But if she got it from him and is high up with clout. He has the same exact skills and actually knows how to use them. He wouldn't need a five year old's gift with her not really knowing how the reaper gift even works

To me it feels like the plot about her father shifted/changed so the author could progress that storyline.

Book 4 in this series was a good addition. Solid world-building and mystery. Interesting characters and a good balance of Supernatural Suspense & Thriller with just enough romance. One downside of these books is that they are relatively short, barely exceeding the length of a novella. The audiobooks run around 7 hours. Luckily, I have been getting the audiobooks from the library. Moving on to Book 5, which appears to be the last audiobook at the time I am writing this review. 3.5 stars rounded up.

Riley and her friends

Wow, I've read all 4 books a I loved them, Riley is something else. Ya she's the real deal, and there's no way once you start reading this series you can not stop.
No way no how, once I started there was no way that I was going to read another book until I was done with this series, but now I do have to take a brake till the next book comes out.
Can't wait.

Adler and Ryley

This is a intense version of reaper’s unite. Ryley is in deep but it is in her nature to fight and here she has to fight more than just herself. I like this story because it adds some positivity that is needed in her life. I also like that stitch is needed. We get to find out more about Ryley’s family history which is awesome. I love how we see more but it’s not like aggravating like other books. I can’t wait for the next book.

Just keeps getting better

Read this in less than a day. The series just keeps getting better with each installment. Highly recommend, but it will only make sense if you start at the beginning. Love that it is offered on kindle unlimited, but I would gladly pay for these if they weren't!

Love,love, love this series!

I would recommend this series to anyone but especially to those who enjoy Charlie Harris or Patricia Briggs or any other paranormal series that includes clean romance. The characters are unique and the stories interesting and enjoyable. It's hard to wait for the next one.

Grave Secrets, the fourth book in the series, has Ryley’s past catching up with her, one that she would rather have dead and buried. As with the others in this series, this story is a great, fast-paced, paranormal mystery with wonderful characters and a strong storyline. The reason for the three stars? This story left me hanging. Still, quite a good read.

Extremely interesting plot! I completely lost myself in the story!

It was so fast paced I could barely put it down long enough to make a cup of coffee.

The character dynamics and development is amazing!

But the story! Holy Wow!

It is so action packed. I couldfeel how run off her feet Ryley was, and Girl I was too!!!

Once again, another great addition to this fantastic series! This had me locked in from start to finish. I read it in one sitting because I needed to know what happened next. I love everything about this book and this series - the characters, the story lines, the mysteries, the relationships - just everything. I highly recommend it.

Enjoyed it, though I fail to understand how someone can get shot point blank in the chest and live (with no mention of a Kevlar vest, or that the aim was faulty). Ryley totes around that gun like she’s a badass, and still gets bested by the villain (living or dead), and constantly has to be rescued.

Great!!

Riley encounters a nasty ghost who’s not ready to quit terrorizing the living. There’s a killer who is taking psychics and has his eye on Riley. All of the books in this series have been excellent. I can’t wait for book 5!

Nice short story with a proper twist

Very little romance, though. And a lot of the time, it feels rushed. But I enjoy the stories as they are continuing. I'm looking forward to finding out how Riely deals with her father and the reapers

I wrote a whole review and it was deleted in the goodreads app.
I did not like this book. The dad issue is really strange and I wish it was staying away from where it's going. The psychic element that I connected to so much is going away and it makes me sad.
