So break her was just have her beg for him!? That doesn't seem quite right. Not very good but it's not bad. The development was too fast and senseless. You had to be told they were changing because their actions or thoughts didn't show the change. Also a lot of reading each other's eyes and thoughts as if normal humans can do that. I will be reading the 2nd book but I'm not very hopeful. 2nd books are rarely good but Im hopeful.

Hard me to review
The storyline and the descriptive writing was very good it pulled you in and made you want to keep turning the pages. For me the story was just too dark and abusive. I cannot blame the author she left plenty of good warnings but I decided to delve in anyway. I'm not sure how to review this kind of book so I'm just going to leave you a few quotes taken directly from the book and let you make your own decision.
I was going to stare at her ass, where it was red and bleeding from my hand, as I fuxxed her. I was going to tear that tight little pu##y while she screamed for me to stop. Of course, I wouldn’t. I didn’t have a drop of mercy in my body.I couldn’t reach sexual gratification unless I inflicted pain. But even that soon became boring. Didn't even hug or kiss her he just grabbed her and told her clothes off brought the belt down on her breasts, hitting her tight nipples. Kincaid’s body jolted, and her mouth parted on a wordless scream.I hit her again and again, trying to find satisfaction in her scream of pain. In her moans of pleasure. In the red welts on her porcelain skin. His tongue licked a path up my body, tasting my dried blood. It ends in a cliffhanger and I'm not sure I have the stomach to read the next book. However the author is a very good writer and I really appreciated the trigger warnings even though I didn't heed them LOL

Ok..so I have thoughts about Maddox! Cause he is a mix between Damian (Kill Switch) and Zade (Haunting Adeline) and probably Kilian (God of Malice).
He is psycho but at least he knows it. And then he becomes OBSESSED with Kincaid.
And Kincaid..my heart broke so many times for her. Cause what kinda shitty life does she have..first she looses her mother to cancer and then next she has to cover her medical bills and is way over her head and can’t afford food..so obviously Maddox exploits her situation dn offers her money in exchange for her “company”which is Mafia Code for I want to take care of you but also wanna f…k your brains out..
Honestly..win-win, if you ask me.
So here my slightly organized thoughts:
1. Kincaid is a super cool name for a girl
2. To break someone has different meaning to other people
3. Pain also has a different meaning to other different people..cause what Maddox does to Kincaid is pain but also not pain like cutting a finger..

I took a chance on this book since I needed a break from my other one. I absolutely loved it though. I was expecting it to just be another okay book, but I am going straight into the second. It reminds me so much of the first author I’ve read from that it feels like home to read.

Okay so this is just your typical Mafia story. And I love mafia.
So, our girl Kincaid (I can't stop thinking about Sadie) is a waitress in a strip club working hard to pay off debts that are crippling her. She's miserable, she's so depressed living from day to day in her mundane little life.
Maddox, is our guy. He's a Capo and a live wire. He wants to make Kincaid his little toy and won't stop until he has his way. But! Our guy catches some feelings doesn't he.
This isn't a standalone and is part of a series so it does end on a cliffhanger. That said, it's only just over 200 pages so it's a nice pallet cleanser, especially after reading something heavy.

He was totally bonkers and totally unapologetic for the way he is. However after reading Cold-Hearted and things Leo (their father) did to Sandra, I am not surprised Maddox turned they way he is.
I am so in love, it was a solid start .
Kincaid is such a cool name :) I liked her a lot. In comparison to Mad she was logical and rational. She wasn't whining and causing trouble out of nowhere.
Thanks Ms.Talbot now I know how to curse in Italian 10/10 💀✋

I struggled to finish as it was so much needless back and forth but the h was so annoying all she did every other sentence. Not page. Sentence was complain about how she was wrong or dirty for the things she liked when millions of Americans like weird crap! The constant whining and poor me attitude was just so hard to get thru. But I did. For Maddox who owned his crap and saved this book. But I’ll warn u now I’m 50% into book two and it’s even worse than one with more whining and complaining and playing the victim. She isn’t a kid. She knew what she was getting into by then u want to keep being wishy washy. I just can’t. DNF booo 2
