This really does feel like "New Game +", like the characters say! It picks up from where the prior book left off, with Shiki and Rebecca going off to re-find their friends, though they discover the "new" universe (Universe Zero) has self-corrected to account for a number of changes, including that the robots of Granbell are all normal and see Shiki off normally, unlike before when he was effectively "chased" away. They also get the Edens Zero just handed to them, unlike before—the most "New Game +" part of this whole adventure (including that )!

Going in order (as best as I can remember without looking it up) to get their friends back—probably because that's just the most efficient path since their original journey took them farther and farther from Granbell—they get Weisz and Pino, in what is probably the weirdest heartwarming scene* ever: Weisz yells at his "nag" of a mom, then regains his memory and runs to hug her with tears in his eyes, since she's "alive in this universe."

The rest of the volume is more of the same, retracing their steps to find their other friends but finding things (and themselves) are very different from what they remember, but I don't have anything specific to say about that.

The main weirdness about the book is the cover makes them look like Edens Babies: they're supposed to be three years younger than they were before the universe-merge, but here they look easily six years younger?? (although, Rebecca developed early, if so)

The main reason I took off a star is the normal Mashima requisite "bath scene humour" stuff, including that Rebecca and Shiki are discovering their abilities don't work as expected, so .

...

I know I should expect it, but still.

Overall, fun, but still peak Mashima.

I do note in his Afterword that he mentions trying to make a completely different anime, but it's not turning out well... I have the strong feeling it's Farmagia, because... well... it's not very good, haha. Well, they can't be all winners.

*I originally typed "weirdest touching scene," which... has a very different connotation, especially if Mashima is involved.

I am still not sure how I feel about the idea of them basically going back in time and restarting everything. But I do like the idea that since this is a new time line that things did not happen in the way that they happened before and some of those changes are actually pretty cool like learning that Nero is not an emperor anymore and it is pretty cool and makes me excited to see what other changes are in store. I am still not happy about the time travel but the idea of having new changes will make it a lot more interesting.

4.5/5 I really enjoyed this volume. The crew has traveled to Universe Zero. Now they all have to reconnect. It’s a fun thing to see everyone reuniting and seeing all of the changes in Universe Zero. Certain dead characters are alive since we’re 3 years in the past and we’re having the same confrontations again but with a twist. I’m digging it.

A very cute cover featuring Shiki, Rebecca, Weisz, Sister, Happy, & Pino for volume 27.

The promise of volume 25 has not been realized in volume 26. It seems like we are just dumping in lots of characters again; characters we have already seen.

Hello, if you're reading this, it is more of a note to self then a public review, but reading it is still aloud.😉

YES!!!!! Witch is back!! 😭☺️ I totally started crying when I read that part of the book.(Page 19 has the first panel of Witch in this volume) I'm so glad Hiro found a way to bring her back. I'm overflowing with jubilee 😊.
I'm crying tears of joy just at the thought of her being back, words truly can't begin to describe how I feel right now. Plus, I'm loving how complex the story is getting, this is great, no, incredibly awesome and so beautifully written. This series took an unexpected, unique turn and I LOVE every bit of it.
I just love the idea of time-travel, especially in space (that's why my favorite movie is Interstellar, and my favorite manga series is Edens Zero). I also love how complex this is getting. I know most people would complain about how complicated it is, but it kinda prepared me for this, and also, characters in this series explain it well enough for people like that to be able to understand this really intricate storyline and insane storytelling (and i mean the good kind of insane, just as an FYI).
I'm surprised that this series isn't as popular or more popular that Fairy Tail (an other series by Hiro Mashima), because in my opinion, Edens Zero is better that Fairy Tail.
I just can't get enough of Edens Zero!!! ❤️😁😄

Bare with me.....so this one is like one of those moments you decide that you want do a cosmetic change in a game yet there's no edit option. So you save all your good gear and delete said character yeeting them back to the beginning BUT you do have all the goated gear. That sums up this volume. See I did that spoiler free.
