Give this woman a Michelin star for how she be COOKING in here. Fucking hell this series is sooo GOATED. The artstyle and story accompany each other like steak met frieten. Y'all are SLEEPING on my girl fr. I can say hands down best thing I have ever and will ever read.
This officially marks the 33% spot for what's available of the series now (it's up to 148 chapters or something like that at the time of reading.) I want this to be my review for the series as a whole up to this point. So let's recap what exactly has happened that was meaningful in 6 volumes:
- Rudo gets framed for a murder and tossed into a pit of garbage - He joins up with the Janitors/Cleaners - Some fights that end in stalemates, some of these were cooler than others - Whatever in the $%?! was going on with Amo (she could've cut that whole arc I think and been fine) - a TON of info dumping
That's a LOT of pages for not a lot to happen. There's a lot of information and exposition dumping (pardon the trash puns) but the story and the way the magic or whatever works in this is really not that complicated. I think a small child would understand this system after one or two times explaining it, but I feel like this manga has to explain itself CONSTANTLY and inflate the page count.
Here's how the magic works okay? Try to keep up: your favorite item gains a power you channel based on what it is and how you loved it. Example, you got a paint brush, you can make super cool tattoos now. You got a broom you can sweep stuff away extra good. See it's really not that hard.
I get that this series is shonen which means it's aimed at teenage boys, but surely teen boys are smart enough to grab this concept without it being shoveled constantly every time a new character shows up with their magic object. I GET IT the guy with a water hose can make super good water blasts, Jesus Christ. I GET IT the guy with poison claws can do poison claws that are like super potent poison.
I'll have to decide if I want to read the other 100 chapters available at this point, but at the moment I'm kinda on the fence about if I want to continue. This particular volume ended in a promising place like things are maybe finally gonna move but WHY did it take 50 chapters, a whole year on the calendar, to get the plot actually heading somewhere other than info dumping?!
Edit: I decided to give up on the series here, it wasn't good enough to continue.
First of all, my poor Amo needs to be protected! 😭 I hate that they just left her there even though she asked for that to be the case. And they promised to be back 🥺 And now the Raiders have fucked with her! I’m so MAD 🤬 Rudo go mess them up! They never should’ve bothered her! She was finally chill!
In other news, Semiu in this volume? 🥴 That’s my wife right there! It was so iconic finally being able to see her in a fight 🤩 She was so badass! Those assholes really thought they’d be able to get through to the Cleaners’ headquarters with that baddie there to defend them. Hell no 🙂↔️
Ngl, I’m mad as hell at Zodyl for splitting up my dear Cleaners, but he’s hot as fuck tho 😩 I don’t trust that man at all, but this mangaka needs to stop giving me so many iconic looking characters. I’m but a weak woman! I’m for this manga/anime streets!
Anyway. I look forward to continuing the series, especially since we’re bound to have a lot of confrontations between characters!
We're finally getting to know the enemy (Raiders) and getting some 1 V 1 fights- I'm beyond excited for the rematch between Zanka and Jabber! I still can't get over how cool the art style is, along with how much this plot keeps surprising me. I'm adoring the whole Cleaners' found family thing going on, everyone is so awesome it's so easy to like every character. I'm kinda worried for Amo, poor girl deserves some peace. I'm hoping we get to find out about that strange symbol soon. I kind of understand about Typon wanting to destroy the Sphere and all...but low-key also not? Anyway, can't wait for more!
4.5; i’m like 80% sure amo isn’t dead but if she is i will be rioting!!!!! i need her to heal and find a family with the cleaners so fucking badly. very excited to learn more about zodyl cause he is FREAKY and really good at seeing right through rudo. moving forward, i hope we start learning about the bigger side characters’ backstories soon cause i’m dying to know more about enjin, zanka, and riyo in particular
I’m lowkey loving this series. I mention this every time but I literally love the art style and characters and character designs I think Rudo is my favorite character I love him so much This series is just so good
EACH GACHIAKUTA VOLUME KEEPS GETTING BETTER READ THIS VOLUME AND I STOOD UP AHHHHHHHHHHSHDHDHDHDHSUHSNDBSHSJSUSHD, APPLAUDED, AND PRAISE THE AUTHOR/ARTIST. YOU'RE AN AMAZING WOMAN.
Why do a team fight, when you can all just do , 1v1 PK hehehehehe
finished this ages ago but I’m procrastinating so I’m gonna talk about this volume!
this was such an insane volume the fight scenes were so great and when you start to dislike the character you get their backstory that explains why they act the way they do and I did not expect such heavy themes to be explored in this manga but I also should’ve known
I really like amo she’s so great her backstory really touched me it was so sad and when it was revealed my jaw did drop (she deserves the most I sincerely hope she is still alive)
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
rereading this is hilarious because zodyl fr has no idea what rudo is on about but he keeps yelling at him about amo 😭
also I love how not every vital instrument is a weapon or has to be weaponised, they can be defensive or used hand in hand with the givers own offensive power like semiu. it’s so awesome how these items that get their power from the love they receive aren’t solely used to inflict harm. that said, it’s pretty fucking sick when they are offensive 🫶🏻
I am officially a Semiu fan. Well, I've liked her character from the start, but this volume really cemented it. The art also continues to be amazing! Some of the expressions and angles are wild, it's so eye-catching. The story is good, but I honestly think 60-70% of the reason I'm still reading is because of the art.
The beginning of this series started off really strong, but the story is starting to feel rushed, and the pacing is off for me. We barely get to spend much time with characters and build a connection when it is often the connection we have to the characters that adds more weight to the battles and keeps us on edge.
This series is interesting. It's pretty dark, and deals with some pretty awful themes. At the beginning of this volume (a continuation from the previous volume) there are themes of surviving child trafficking and sexual abuse. Not to mention physical violence and murder. Honestly, Amo's whole story is just really dark.
Later in the volume we have the more typical violence seen in action manga. There's light humor, and the developing relationships between the Cleaners. The volume ends with the Cleaners getting ready to fight a new group. I'm curious to see if there will be more stories like Amo's, or if her (honestly just super awful) backstory will be an outlier.
