DragonBound is the second enthralling book in the Fantasy Romance SoulMist series full of vibrant characters, political intrigue and betrayal.
How could so much go awry in so short a time? Crossing the divide between gloomy Eidolon and sunny Puronia was the least of their problems.
Solanji Her brother is still soulless and lost in Eidolon. Having exchanged tantalising promises of love with the mesmerising fallen angel, Demavrian, she led him straight into a trap, and he is running out of time to prove his innocence. She has no idea how to use her SoulBreathing skills or to control the dragon that comes with it, and to top it all, the Heavenly Host kicked in her door. They had better repair it!
Demavrian Ageing isn’t fun. If he didn’t reconnect to the citadel fast, he may even die of it, if the queue of angels wanting him dead didn’t get to him first. Unexpected enemies and surprising allies surface as he navigates the dark web of corrupted politics in the angel’s assembly. Let’s hope his newly independent oathsworn can keep him alive long enough to unravel his memories of what really happened the day he was cast out – and his beautiful SoulBreather, Solanji, may be the key.
Solanji and Mav may be immortal, but they are running out of time to discover who is behind all the scheming and how to redeem the soulless. When the timepiece makes it last turn, they will not be the only ones to suffer if they fail.

I absolutely adored this book! It completely tops the first book with its coordination of viewpoints, the well-developed plot, and the twists and turns. I really enjoyed the character development and ALL THE REVEALS! I almost didn’t see the ending coming! *Definitely* recommend this book!
Another fabulous five stars for the second in the Soul Mist series. In the heavenly city of Angelicus, Garraway continues the intriguing themes of corruption and political power-broking in heaven and we fall in love all over again with the wounded hero Mav. In a race against time to defend his name, and stay alive. Only his oath sworn are loyal to his cause along with the curiously talented Solenji. There are childrens lives at stake too, including Solanji’s baby brother. They are trappedin Eideron, a dark and dreary prison land without their souls andl at the mercy of a ruthless and ambitious Seraphim. With a plot to keep the pages turning and beautifully crafted characters that we cheer on and boo with alacrity this is a must read for fantasy lovers.
I discovered Helen through the Sentinals series and have continued to follow her along as she rapidly turned out amazing story after amazing story. This series is written in a different tone but is no less addicting to read and explore. I will not give any spoilers but I highly recommend reading this series if you have loved her style as much as I do.
I received an ARC copy of SoulBreather and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
I received and ARC copy of this book, and am giving an honest review. In Helen Garraway’s new series, she has created even more unforgettable characters, in the form of Archdeus Demavrian and Solanji. Their personalities so different from the Sentinal Books, but no less loveable.
Dragon Bound continues on from SouthBreather, with Demavrian trying to prove his innocence. Having had to leave behind his small troop of children in Edolon, he knows not what has happened to them, only when Kerris arrives in Puronia, does he hear the real scale of their fate. Once more we see the fight between dark and light, good and evil, but as we all know there is always good to be found in the darkness, as evil manifests in plain sight in the light. The ending of the book will surprise you, it did me, but it leaves things open for more books to follow.
This book is spellbinding, and Helen has excelled herself yet again, as we follow the lives of those in Puronia and Edolon. All of the characters, both Grand and small will tug at your heartstrings, even the Dragon Xylvin will warm your heart. I truly believe that this new series will win all the accolades that Sentinals achieved. I loved every page, and did not want it to end. Amazing!!
What an action packed sequel to the SoulMist Series. Mav, after successfully crossing over from Eidolan with Solanji but now prove his innocence on four counts. Mav must present himself at session of Apologia where he stands accused of murder and being soulless. If he is found guilty of the his crimes he could face death.
Solanji is a SoulBreather. She must help Mav in proving his innocence and along with his oathsworn unravel the truth being the murder of Athenia, the disappearance of his father and further plots to overtake the citadel. I loved how this story progressed. Mav and Solanji's relationship is beautiful and really flourishes. Mav's shadows are wonderfully delicious.
The story quite frequently returns to Eidolan and I'm glad Mav's little crew weren't forgotten in this story even though there are a few heartbreaking moments.
So many secrets and plots revealed, didn't see the main reveal coming but it all built beautifully to an exciting and eventful final act. I'm very much looking forward to book 3.
I received an ARC for this book and this is my honest review
Great on this second book! I enjoyed it very much. It is better than the first and I liked the first one. Great job Helen, thanks for all the good books. I have had many hours of great reading due to your books. Thank you.
“Dragonbound” is a well crafted continuation in Author Helen Garraway’s angel-focused fantasy series, elevating the genre with its complex political intrigue and compelling character dynamics. This second instalment builds confidently on its predecessor, drawing readers in more quickly and maintaining a stronger narrative momentum throughout.
The story centres on two compelling protagonists: Solanji, a SoulBreather grappling with newfound powers and the weight of betrayal, brings depth and emotional resonance to the narrative. Her struggle to master her abilities while dealing with the consequences of her actions feels authentic and engaging. Demavrian, a fallen angel racing against time and his own mortality, presents as a fascinatingly complex character whose journey to uncover the truth about his fall from grace adds layers of mystery to the plot.
The author excels at world-building, creating a vivid contrast between the gloomy realm of Eidolon and sunny Puronia. The political machinations of the angel’s assembly are particularly well-crafted, offering a fresh take on celestial politics that avoids common tropes in angel-centered fantasy.
The pacing is expertly handled, balancing multiple storylines without losing momentum. The dual narrative structure works effectively, allowing readers to follow both Solanji’s development as a SoulBreather and Mav’s race against time while maintaining tension throughout both arcs.
What sets this book apart is its handling of immortal characters facing very mortal problems. The author doesn’t shy away from complex themes like redemption, betrayal, and the price of power, while maintaining the story’s essential sense of adventure and romance.
The relationship between Solanji and Mav evolves naturally despite their supernatural nature, their dialogue feeling genuine and their chemistry palpable. Supporting characters, particularly the independent oathsworn and the members of the Heavenly Host, add depth to the world without overshadowing the main narrative.
The mystery surrounding the corruption in the angel’s assembly and the fate of the soulless provides a compelling backdrop for the personal struggles of our protagonists. The author cleverly weaves these elements together, creating a story that satisfies both as a fantasy adventure and a character-driven narrative.
With its well-developed characters, engaging plot, and fresh take on angelic lore, “Dragonbound” represents fantasy fiction at its finest. The novel improves upon its predecessor, offering faster engagement and deeper character development while maintaining the unique elements that made the first book compelling. And did I mention…another Dragon!!!
This is one of the strongest angel-centred fantasies I’ve encountered, and I eagerly await the next instalment. I award 5 stars.
This was another winner in my book. After reading the first book I only hope that the next one would be as good and to my wonderful surprise, this book was even better. Like I said last time, this is a saga and I am so glad I had the chance to read this book. You could not possibly be disappointed in this book, as the action is amazing and the characters are so well written that it is easy to fall inside this story. I love that! Can't wait to start number three. I am so excited I think I peed myself a little!! Enjoy this book.
While the things that irritated me in book 1 still continued in this second volume, I'm glad I stuck things out and read this book because the characters and story were worth it. I liked the plot twists and the mystery of who was behind all the troubles Solanji and Mav faced in this and the previous volume definitely came as a surprise, especially once the motive was revealed.
This read was full of twists and turns that kept me flipping page after page. A lot of secrets are revealed and Mav and Solanji go through some heart aches. Looking forward to the next book in this series.
DragonBound continues the story of SoulBreather, but this time Mav is entangled in the politics of the Citadel and must prove his innocence. I found DragonBound to be a little more repetitive than SoulBreather but I still whizzed through the story because it was both an easy and a compelling read.
Would recommend to any fantasy readers. This is the second series I have read by Helen Garraway and both are awesome. I was not a fantasy reader but gave her books a try and now I am hooked.
this was such a great sequel in this series, it does everything that I enjoyed from the first book. Helen Garraway does everything that I needed from this book. The plot has a great writing style and it did everything that I was expecting from the first book and from the description. It left me wanting to read more from this series.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Turmoil and strife and figuring out life. With new abilities to figure out, a soulless brother and a busted door things are a bit stressful for our soul breather. Great characters and a wonderfully built world, was a solid read!
What an amazing second book. This fantasy story will have you lost in another dimension. There’s romance, danger, and magic to make this an outstanding adventure. Love the characters, ready for the next.
Mav must leave his children behind to defend himself in the Citadel. A story full of mistrust, deceit and intrigue, in which he must rely on his friends and oathsworn to defeat his enemies. Will he manage to save himself and the children? A really good, compelling and exciting story and I look forward to the next book
