The Montgomery Ink Legacy series continues with a workplace fling romance that starts off with a literal bang. Daisy Montgomery Knight is about to meet her match when it comes to Hugh Hendrix.

One look across the aisle at a wedding and I fell in lust.

He’s on the bride’s side. I’m on the groom’s.

But by the end of the night, we’re against a wall, over a table…and in bed.

I’m prepared never to see him again except in my memories.

Only the next week things become awkward: I’m his new boss.

And it turns out he’s just as demanding outside of the sheets as beneath them.

We need to stay away from each other—he has his demons, as well as an adorable little girl, and I’m trying to heal after a job gone wrong.

I know I need to walk away…even if neither one of us wants to.

This might be my favorite Legacy novel! I LOOOOVED this one! I’ll be back with my full review …
.

I’m loving these Montgomery Ink Legacy books! And these narrators were fantastic to listen to! They made this book for me! I think this book is my favorite in the series. The chemistry between Hugh and Daisy was palpable. It was hot, one night and just first names. You know how it goes 😉 But surprise! Hugh is the new hire at Daisy’s firm. And Hugh! Be still my heart. He’s a single dad, adjusting to a new area and getting settled with his daughter, Lucy. Their journey felt realistic and honest. I enjoyed how Daisy and Hugh wanted to see where things could go between them and they also included Lucy. She was a very lucky and loved little girl!

One look across the aisle at a wedding and Daisy was a goner. After spending an incredible night with Hugh, Daisy thought she’d never see him again. So imagine her surprise when she discovers the new hire at her security company is Hugh. Avoiding him should be easy except when Hugh turns out to be just as demanding at work as he is in the bedroom….

I absolutely adored Last First Kiss. From the moment you meet Daisy and Hugh, you can feel the sparks between them instantly. Their chemistry and banter left me aching for more. Daisy is tough as nails on the outside but has been through so much more than any woman should. Her heart is guarded and no matter how hard she tries, she can’t resist the pull she feels towards Hugh. Speaking of Hugh; what a great guy! He moved to Colorado to settle into his new role as a single father. He was looking for a fresh start and never expected to fall for Daisy.

In true Montgomery family fashion, they took to Hugh and his daughter quickly and enveloped them into their family. And let me tell you, the more time you spend with the Montgomery family, the more you want to spend time with them and wish you could be a part of their close-knit unit too. Oh, and we can’t forget Hugh’s daughter, Lucy. Lucy held her own and wasn’t afraid to push her dad and Daisy together.

Last First Kiss is a fantastic read from beginning to end. The characters and storyline will pull you in from page one and absolutely consume you. Hugh and Daisy’s story is filled with family, romance, suspense, and some great twists and turns. Last First Kiss definitely kept me on my toes and I couldn’t wait to see how it would all come together in the end.

This book has two of my favorite tropes, Single Dad and Workplace Romance. If you read FALLEN INK you'll remember Mace Knight and Adrienne Montgomery, this is Mace's daughter Daisy's story. I'm loving the next generation of Montgomery's!

This story was HOT right from the jump which I wasn't expecting but loved regardless, because give me all the steam please. I loved the chemistry between Daisy and Hugh you could feel it spark every time they were together, I also loved Hugh's little girl Lucy and the way she was brought into the Montgomery Clan by Nora, Sebastian's daughter.

I really love these Montgomery Ink legacy novels. I love how each book extends the Montgomery 'family' wider and wider and I love that Last First Kiss adds not one but two new members to the family.

I knew after meeting Daisy in previous novels that her time up to bat would be well worth the wait, and I wasn't disappointed!

What starts as two, never met before, guests 'celebrating' a wedding together very quickly, and awkwardly, develops into something more forbidden .

Daisy and Hugh's navigation through this awkward period is enlightening and not quite as 'under the radar' as they'd hoped.

As readers, we are led through their story expertly, with many twists, turns and even some humour.

All in all, Last First Kiss is a really good addition to the Montgomery Ink legacy catalogue.

OMG SHANE EAST is the best.
Daisy is co owner of the Montgomery security company and while at a wedding meets a very handsome British red head that has a very hot night.
Hugh moved to Denver to be a full time dad to his adorable 6yr old daughter.
First day in his new job he meets his boss that the sexy woman he slept with at a friend’s wedding.
Absolutely love how badass Daisy is but she is struggling because of previous injuries she got while on the job. All the family are treating her like an invalid but they are just worried.
The narration is amazing with both Shane East and Kit Swan but I won’t lie I do prefer if this was done in a duet rather then each narrator ready a chapter each. When you got the amazing Shane East doing a beautiful narration it should be used for all the lines the main character does.
Kit Swann was amazing and had a surprising British accent.

*Received an ARC for an honest review* I am really enjoying the Montgomery next gen series from Carrie Ann Ryan. This one is about is about Daisy, daughter of Adrienne and Mace. She works at the security firm and ends up having a steamy one night stand with a brit. She doesn’t ever expect to see him again until he turns out being the new hire for the firm. He also is a single dad so they have to learn to navigate this new situation. And of course catching glimpses of original Montgomery’s and friends. It was a fun read as always.

Daisy and Hugh met and hooked up at a wedding with no expectations. But things get awkward when the next week they learn she is his new boss and they have to pretend they’ve never met.

Hugh is a single dad trying to build in time with his daughter to give her the stability she needs. He once ran his own security company, but knowing his daughter needs him he takes a job working for the Montgomerys.

I fell in love with these characters quickly. Daisy is strong and independent, a necessity in the security field. She has worked hard to prove her strength and though her family wants to jump in and help her, she will fight to show that she doesn’t need the help. Hugh understands this very quickly about her and her independence is one of the things that attracts him. His daughter is adopted into the Montgomery family before he and Daisy are even official, which means it was only a matter of time before Daisy and Hugh sorted out their hangups, really.

This installment of the second generation Montgomerys has plenty of multi-generational family involvement. It also tied up some loose ends from earlier books, answering those questions about what caused the warehouse explosion that led to Daisy’s injuries. But it ends with a teaser into Kane’s book, His Second Chance, that has me wishing I could jump right into it.

Universal

Daisy caught the bouquet and Hugh caught the garter at a wedding they attended, and they ended up spending a hot night together, never to be repeated, never to see each other again. Until he walks into her and her cousins' security company as their newest employee. Yep...they can be professional, though, can't they? Act as though it never happened?

Hugh moved here to settle in and be near his daughter, so the last thing he needs or wants is the complication of a woman, especially a woman who happens to be his boss. And yet, he can't control how hard he's falling for her. Daisy is a force of nature with a big heart. His daughter loves her. Daisy's family has welcomed him and his daughter into their fold, and he doesn't want to do anything to change that. Is it possible they can be together?

Fierce Daisy was just waiting for a worthy guy to come along and get underneath all those walls she had built up. And it happened in delicious, sweet fashion. She was still hurting, healing from the explosion, so her family was extra protective, but Hugh seemed to know instinctively just how far he could and couldn't push her. His adorable daughter I think was the key to her heart, stole every scene she was in. Hot Brit single dad, fierce, big-hearted boss - what a combo!

This one was cute. From Daisy and Hugh meeting at the wedding, to how Daisy's life mirrored Lucy's, to the whole Montgomery clan weighing in on these 2 dating. I hated the drama that came up, but glad that they all can close that down and Daisy and Hugh can just focus on their family.

We have been wondering just what kind of man was going to be matched with our sweet Daisy Montgomery Knight for a while now, but to be honest I never saw this one coming, and as ever Carrie Ann manages to give her readers and fun and engaging experiences without tearing us up too much. Daisy’s story is really a bit of a continuation from the previous story, where she was injured when a warehouse she was inspecting exploded, leaving the whole Montgomery Security team on edge and over-protective while leaving Daisy less than he usual badass self. But she is struggling to get back to her normal routine and when she goes toa friend’s wedding, she is struck by an unexpected and intense desire for the sexy brit that is in attendance as well. Hugh Hendrix is finally finding his footing in Colorado for daughter and himself, but when family obligation lands him at a wedding of a childhood friend he never imagines he’ll spent a passionate and unforgettable night with a beautiful woman. Both Daisy and Hugh determine to leave their one night and that, not sharing anything else about themselves, but it backfires no them in a big way when they learn that Hugh is the newest hire at Montgomery Security and Daisy is now his defacto boss. They are determined to not allow their passionate night to disrupt their working relationship or allow the others to know the truth, but son they are just as determined to learn if their passionate night could be something more and start dating. Their relationship develops quickly, with Daisy and Hugh’s young daughter Lucy fostering an emotional connection and Lucy being enfolded into the Montgomery bubble, but they are both reticent by the speed and depth of their connection. When it becomes clear that Daisy is being targeted by an enemy, the Montgomery’s begin to circle the wagons and Hugh has to find a way to show Daisy that he supports her without overwhelming her, but can their evolving love and trust withstand the challenges they are facing or will it be too late for them?

I absolutely loved this story, the connection between Daisy and her family or course was unbeatable, but that’s never missing from any of Carrie Ann’s story, but the way that Hugh loved his girl and stepped in the fill the voids that other’s left in her life was just beautiful. Daisy has had to struggle to find her place in the group of big and tough Montgomery men, but she is a strong and independent woman that is willing to fight for herself and those she loves. I enjoyed watching her with Hugh and Lucy as she found a way to share her softer emotions with a little girl that needed a mother and the love a woman in her life, much like Lucy had as a girl. The parallels that Ryan presented in the two females was not overdone, but just beautifully alluded to and showed Hugh that once her shared his daughter with Daisy she would understand that gift and never take it for granted. Hugh was an enigma a bit, a man that had given up so much in his life for his daughter, but didn’t seem to understand that his closed heart would ultimately be a bad example for his daughter. It is obvious to me, as a daughter of divorce, that the best thing for him was to find a true love and open his heart so that he could show Lucy so that love truly does exist and it does stick, and when he finally did that with Daisy in the end it was amazing. I loved the passion that was there between Daisy and Hugh from the beginning and that they allowed it to settle into a simmer when they needed to build something more substantial later. The love between these two that comes from a one-night stand truly proves that sometimes we truly don’t appreciate the significance when we share that Last First Kiss. As always Carrie Ann kills us in that last chapter with a glimpse of what is coming next for the Montgomery brood and now I am dying for the next book (His Second Chance), but in the meantime I now that the love between Daisy and Hugh will keep me warm and bring me happy dreams.

Welcome back to Colorado and the Montgomerys—where once they bring you into the fold—you’re a Montgomery for life. #CHEESEFORALL!!

Last First Kiss is Daisy & Hugh’s story…and picks up just after Happily Ever Maybe.

Daisy Montgomery Knight is owner of Montgomery Security along with several cousins.

Hugh Hendricks is one of their new security hires.

How did they meet? A wedding…and nope—not a Montgomery one.

They shared a dance (since he caught the garter & she caught the flowers), one night of passion…and unfortunately no last names…

Imagine Daisy walking into work on Monday morning…and seeing the man that gave her a unforgettable night of passion…

Daisy is still healing from being injured in the warehouse explosion (confused…go read Best Friend Temptation…the explosion is at the end)…and everyone is still trying to figure out who was behind that problem. So various family members are a little bit more ‘over-protective’ than usual…and with the Montgomery men—that’s saying something.

Hugh use to own his own security business…but sold it & moved to Colorado to be closer to his ex-wife & daughter, Lucy. Then his ex decided that it was easier to start ‘anew’ without reminders of the past…and Daisy understands how Lucy feels better than Hugh knows.

Since moving and starting in a new school, Lucy is befriend by none other than Nora Montgomery…who views all ‘strangers’ as friends not yet made. It’s extremely cute seeing how these two six-years plot sleepovers, playdates, and such—playing all adults…nothing better than a sweet little smile from an adorable six-year old.

Though, it does become a little ‘tricky’ when Lucy asks if they’re meeting Daisy for dinner again in front of a couple of Montgomery men. Plus there is the ‘little’ issue of an competing security firm trying to buy them out…or underbid them on jobs.

Can Daisy & Hugh figure out their relationship…and ensure that it doesn’t ‘bleed’ over into their jobs? Will they discover who was behind the warehouse explosion? In addition to dealing with the competing security firm?

The answers…plus wine, beer, cheese, and ax-throwing can all be found within the pages of Last First Kiss.

I love this next generation of Montgomerys, plus I love when various members of the ‘original series’ pop in for a visit as well..it’d been awhile since I’d seen Daisy’s parents. In fact—I went back and reread their story as well (want to check out their story—grab Fallen Ink (book one of the Montgomery Ink: Colorado Springs spin-off). The best thing about the Montgomery Ink world (whether original or Legacy)—you can start literally anywhere, and know that you have a whole world you can binge read.

My review is written voluntarily after listening to the audio version of this book.

This book tells Daisy Knight Montgomery's story, she's the daughter of Mace Knight and Adrienne Montgomery from Fallen Ink, and Hugh Hendrix, a sexy British single parent to Lucy. Hugh and Lucy recently relocated to Denver to be closer to her mother on the off-chance his she ever wanted to see her daughter. He's a security specialist who used to own his own business but when he obtained full custody of Lucy he decided to cut back and work for someone else so he could spend more time with her. His new position is with Montgomery Security, a company owned partly by Daisy, although she doesn't know that when they first meet.

Hugh and Daisy met at a wedding, and although neither of them wanted to be involved in the traditions that come with weddings he caught the garter and she the bouquet. Both are immediately attracted to the other but exchange only first names. They spent one incredible night together after which neither thought they'd ever meet again. But all that changes on Hugh's first day at his new job when it turns out that he's the new hire at Montgomery Security which means she's one of his bosses and that they'd be working together.

Their story was one I loved, their chemistry was palpable, and you could feel it spark whenever they were together, I loved the way he accepted Daisy and her strengths and didn't try to change their dynamic, she was always the boss at work, but in the bedroom well.....

Their road to happiness isn't smooth, Daisy's life is threatened and her partners in the company try to curtail her activities but when Hugh takes her side their relationship becomes obvious. I don't want to give too many spoilers so I won't say anymore apart from the fact that I just adored Hugh for the way he was with Daisy and Lucy who was brought into the Montgomery Clan when she became Sebastian's daughter Nora's new best friend. I liked Daisy and loved how she was with Lucy it certainly helped that she was a child of a similar situation.

Towards the end of this book we are given a glimpse of what's to come next for the Montgomery clan, I can't wait for the next book - His Second Chance. But back to Daisy and Hugh's story which has a wonderfully warm and satisfactory ending, do take the time to download and enjoy this one.

The narration is performed by the highly talented Shane East, this time with a British accent and Kit Swann they both did a wonderful job of bringing all the characters to life!

This was one of the books I planned on picking up from the library for my January TBR. I had heard someone somewhere discuss this book and this series and had added it to my library TBR a long time ago. I was lead to believe that this is a series of connected standalones and I sincerely want to say from the bottom of my heart, no it isn't. If I wanted to read from this world from the beginning, I would have to read like four different series. And I know part of the blame is going to be on me for not doing more research before diving in and for not starting at least at the beginning of this series in particular. But also the writing was just not good with this one. Everything was telling and not showing. There were pages of just dialogue for some reason. No one was speaking the way real humans do. Everything was just so weirdly, sickly sweet. And I think that overall it just led to this book feeling like it was stuck on one not for the entire 300 pages.

There were about ten pages of actually decent plot and action (as far as characters moving through space that makes sense) which makes me wonder where the hell this was for the rest of the book. I wanted to like the characters so much but they fell flat if you haven't read the whole series. The author is really relying on you already knowing and loving 90% of the characters in this book. It's frustrating because I love the premise of two people meeting somewhere they normally never would and having a night that feels magical and almost like some sort of fate or serendipity or something. I love the idea of a family working together at a security agency. Especially with the main female character being one of the bosses. There was just so much that I could have loved, if only it were done differently.

Overall, I think the writing is just not great. I think I would have enjoyed the book more if maybe I did even a little bit of research and read the other books in the series first. But alas I did not. If anyone has a Romance book with a similar premise I would love recommendations.

Just The Beginning!!!

Daisy Montgomery Knight, the daughter of Adrienne Montgomery and Mace Knight ( FALLEN INK ). She worked at Montgomery Security with her cousins, she was also one kickass woman. She met a sexy as sin English man at a family friend's wedding, she never expected that the steamy night they spent together would be one of the best ones in her life.

She never had any intentions of seeing him again but she couldn't be more wrong. Turns out he was the new hire at her office and she was his new boss. What was she to do when things started to heat up between them!?

Hugh Hendrix, a single dad of a five-year-old daughter named, Lucy. He had a night of passion with the most beautiful, smart and passionate woman he'd ever met at a family friend's wedding...He never thought he would ever see her again then life decided to mess with him by bringing them back together in the most dramatic way ever.

She was his new boss at the company he worked at. He couldn't keep his hands off of her even when she tried her best to avoid him. As they grew closer, there was danger lurking around Daisy. When Hugh, her family and her friends found out what was happening, let's just say that they were happy that she kept such a huge thing from them.

Turned out that the evildoers were closer than they all imagined. And when the wicked came at Daisy, well all hell broke loose. It was great to catch up with some old characters and meet new ones. The Montgomery Ink World keeps getting better and better.

LAST FIRST KISS is the fifth book in Carrie Ann Ryan's  MONTGOMERY INK LEGACY  series. It was steamy, fun, adventurous and a mind-blowing read. Carrie Ann Ryan kept me intrigued from start to finish. I wished I could more stars than 5🌟🌟🌟🌟

P. S. I'm so looking forward to Kane's story! ;)

****I received this book, without any obligation to review.****

**Audiobook Review**

I’m always a happy listener when I can go back to the Montgomery Ink world. “Last First Kiss” is a thrilling, steamy and heartfelt single Dad romance that squeezed my heart in the best possible way.

Daisy Montgomery-Knight is part of the Montogomery clan and works for the security part of the family business. At a wedding for one of the cousins, she meets an intriguing British man by the name of Hugh Hendrix. The two have an instant chemistry and agree to one night with each other figuring that they would never see each other again. Both are surprised when they discover that they now work together. And as they spend time together, they learn about each other’s lives and realize that they are still very much attracted to each other.

This was such a fun and sweet story, I loved Daisy and Hugh right from the start. Daisy is a certified baddie working for the security business and I loved her independence. She had a horrible accident and was working hard to move on and grow from it. Hugh oozes all the British charm and even more so when he’s with his daughter, Lucy. He loves his daughter with his whole heart and that shines throughout the whole book. Daisy and Hugh’s connection is intense and instant from the moment they laid eyes on each other. And as they dated while working together, it grew even more intense. And Daisy’s bond with Lucy was so sweet and the Montogomerys took her and Hugh in without hesitation. The added suspense of the explosion had me listening non stop as they figured everything out. The ending was so sweet and the tease for the next book has me counting down the days.

Shane East and Kit Swann narrated as Hugh and Daisy and they were the perfect choices. Shane brought all of Hugh's protectiveness and growliness to life perfectly. I loved listening to Kit narrate as Daisy. Her performance was the perfect mix of sultry and emotional while Daisy went through all the things she did.

Daisy is trying to return to normal after a warehouse explosion nearly killed her. While attending a friend's wedding, Daisy finds herself insanely attracted to a fellow wedding guest across the aisle. Hugh is finally settling into his life in Denver with a new job that will allow him to spend more time with his daughter, Lucy. When a family obligation has him attending a childhood friend's wedding, Hugh finds he has an intense attraction to female guest across the aisle. After Daisy catches the bride's bouquet and Hugh the garter belt, Hugh and Daisy share an unforgettable night of passion without sharing any personal information with no intentions of seeing each other again. Both are shocked when Hugh is the new hire for Montgomery Security, and Daisy is one of his new bosses. They agree to keep that they know each other and their night of passion from the others. Can Daisy and Hugh stay away from each other? Will Lucy be the bridge to bring Daisy and Hugh closer? Will Daisy and Hugh agree to date while keeping their relationship from their family and friends? Will Hugh stand by Daisy when she is in danger? Can Hugh and Montgomery Security find Daisy when she is kidnapped? Will Hugh and Daisy finally reveal their love for each other? I really enjoyed Last First Kiss by Carrie Ann Ryan. Daisy and Hugh are a great couple with amazing chemistry. Daisy is a strong, independent woman who can kick butt with the best of them. Hugh is a great father and strong man who isn't afraid to let Daisy lead at work but will take the lead in the bedroom. I loved how the Montgomerys embraced Hugh and Lucy and assimilated them into their "cult." I would highly recommend getting Last First Kiss and the other books in the Montgomery Ink Legacy series by Carrie Ann Ryan. I received an ARC copy of this book, and I am leaving my honest review.

Audio Review

AHHH Last First Kiss has everything I love- British single dad, one night of passion turns into OMG we work together and the meddling Montgomery’s Carrie Ann Ryan is known for!

Daisy, who we meet as a child in Fallen Ink, Adrienne Montgomery and Mace Knight’s friends to lovers book (if you haven’t read that one, I totally recommend it), is now running Montgomery Security with her cousins. Dashing British Hugh (as he will forever be known) has relocated to Colorado to spend more time with his adorable daughter, Lucy, and has taken a job at Montgomery Security. These two meet at a wedding, sparks fly all the way into a hotel room and what’s supposed to be a one night stand turns into OOPS we work together on Monday morning.

Daisy is recovering from an explosion, dealing with the PTSD from that and how to move on when these pesky feelings for British Hugh creep up. It doesn’t help that his daughters Mommy origin story is very similar to Daisy’s so she can totally relate to the little girl. Dashing British Hugh is everything I want in a book boyfriend - willing to put his life on hold for his kid, ink, muscles, British accent and secure enough to let Daisy be the badass she is.

As with the other Montgomery Ink Legacy books, this can be read as a standalone but I do think you will enjoy them a bit more if you have the backstory. I listened to this one with Shane East as Dashing British Hugh is fantastic and Kit Swann, totally recommend!

Disclaimer: I had the chance to read an early copy of this book because Carrie Ann Ryan is my friend. I thank her for an ARC in exchange for an honest review, all thoughts are my own. Last First Kiss has a pub date of March 4, 2024.

These two characters are heating things up from the very beginning of this story. Daisy and Hugh meet at a wedding and of course they each catch the bouquet and garter and end up spending the night together and exchange first names only. Fast forward to the Monday after the wedding and the security company has a new employee starting and yes, it’s Hugh and he finds out that Daisy is his boss, and she also doesn’t know that he has the cutest little girl, Lucy. I loved this book and watching Hugh and Daisy be friends and then start dating and I especially love how she’s so respectful of Lucy and her time with Hugh and when their date night had to be cancelled and she showed up with the food for Hugh and Lucy and got invited to stay. I always know, however, that just when things are going well for our main characters, we have to have something that causes problems. I really wanted to say to this author, can we please give Daisy a break here especially when she’s still getting over her last incident. I always look forward to seeing our Montgomery family and friends and how cute that Lucy found a new friend at school who just happens to be Sebastian’s little girl. Wonderful book and this author is really good at setting the scene for the next book and the next one sounds like it might be a nail biter. One of my favorite lines in this book is, “You’re in a room full of Montgomery’s. Cursing and cheese are sort of expected.”

The Montgomery Ink Legacy series continues with a workplace fling romance that starts off with a literal bang.

Daisy Montgomery Knight, works for her family's security agency, she is one of the owners. She has been in and out of relationships. At her cousin's wedding she sits across the aisle from Hugh. During the reception Daisy & Hugh couldn't keep their eyes or hands off each other and agreed to a night of no last names, and a fling in the hotel room.

Hugh Hendrix, he is British. He has the looks and voice that makes every girl swoon. He was married and now divorced, and is a single dad to a cute little girl who he absolutely adores.
When Daisy sees Hugh in her office not long after the wedding, she isn't sure what is going on. She's happy to see him, but after their one night stand she wasn't sure she was going to see him again. Now that he's here she is very happy to see him again.

Daisy & Hugh are seeing each other without the family knowing. But, everyone sees how they look at each other. Daisy wants more with Hugh, but, at the same time, doesn't want to pressure him. Even though they are always surrounded by her crazy family all the time.

Will Hugh be able to be with Daisy without her family interrupting them? Will Daisy be able to handle the security business with Hugh around?

I really enjoyed this story! It pulled me in from beginning to end and held my attention the entire time. I loved the way that these two met with a chance meeting and connection at friends wedding with no plans for more and just first names for an amazing night. Fast forward a little bit and here comes Hugh walking into Daisy's (and her family's) security business as the new hire. They have to figure out how to handle it and the connection that is still there. Hugh also has a little girl that he has recently gained full custody of and things are definitely complicated for them. I loved watching how these two navigated things. They had that connection that couldn't really be ignored and so while they go to move forward they are trying to keep things less complicated than they already are but taking care with each other and with Lucy (Hugh's daughter). This story had plenty of action and intrigue with some things going on and trying to figure it out as well as Hugh and Daisy trying to figure out how they were doing and what they actually wanted out of it. The story was well written and flowed smoothly. It kept me engaged the entire time with both the characters and the story line. I really enjoyed it and can't wait for more in the series!

Summary:

Hugh moved from London to New York and then Colorado for his daughter. He is still trying to get the hang of being a single parent when he meets Daisy Montgomery-Knight at a wedding. They have a steamy night together and a week later he discovers she is one of his new bosses.

Daisy is recovering from an accident that occurred while leaving work. She just wanted to enjoy the wedding of a college friend. She can’t help but notice the red head with a British accent. She can’t stop thinking about him after their night together. Now she is preparing to welcome the new hire but never expected it to be Hugh.

My Thoughts:

This was my first Carrie Ann Ryan book and I was hooked from page one.

This is book 5 in the Montgomery Ink Legacy Series.
Would it be beneficial to read the books in order? Yes
but is it necessary? No
I didn’t read any of the previous books and was able to follow who was who and who was with who.

This was a well written work place romance. The story had a smooth flow. I really like Daisy and Hugh together. I also like how Lucy, Hugh’s daughter, was a big part of the story.

I plan to read the previous books and the next two releases as soon as time allows.

Thank you LiteraryYoursPR and Carrie Ann Ryan for the complimentary copy of Last First Kiss.

The Truth of Catching the Wedding Bouquet and Garter
Daisy always knew what it was like to be loved. To be chosen. So she believes in love. She believes in happy ever after and happiness and choice and romance and all of that. But she also feels that she is never going to find it. She is always going to be standing behind and watching as those she loves find love. She goes on date after date, meets man after man who she thinks truly saw her, but they only see what they wanted to see. They see a woman they think they can handle. But they can’t handle her strength, her tenacity, her bullheadedness. They can’t handle the fact she is boss. That she can kick their butt and save the day if she needs to. Hugh is the man across the aisle, a man that was only supposed to be a one-night-stand. Dating does not seem in the cards for Hugh. His daughter, Lucy, has to come first always. Daisy and Hugh’s chemistry is explosive, but will it actually last and not end in hurt? This is another gripping Montgomery contemporary romance by Carrie Ann Ryan that I could not put down. It is overflowing in steam, family drama and has danger and suspense interweaved into it. Fantastic read. I want to join the Montgomery family.
I voluntarily read an early copy of this book.

Daisy finally gets her happily ever after. She has definitely met her match I have been waiting for Daisy backstory and to find someone for her that can go toe to toe with her and she finally found her person and you. And they just have quite the interesting meet you at a wedding of all places. Watching their relationship develop is something to behold. But one of the real stars of the show is Hugh’s daughter Lucy she is a firecracker. She will steal the scene every single time and honestly we wouldn’t want it any different. And of course we have the ever present Montgomery drama there’s always something going on everybody’s in everybody else’s business but it just keeps life interesting. But Daisy has almost been this mystery she has a tough exterior into watch her finally find a guy that she has feelings for and fall in love with was great it’s like it’s just new and crazy experience. And he was just gorgeous and they just mesh really well together. And the banter is great they have such amazing one-liners. With the ups and downs of the story is a little bit of an emotional roller coaster lots of laughs but most importantly they figure out how to make the relationship work and they get their happily ever after.

The next book in the legacy series is here and it is a favorite of this reader…

Daisy’s story is here and I absolutely loved it! Daisy is strong, displayed by the fact that she works security alongside her Montgomery cousins, but a dangerous explosion caused her to have injuries she cannot ever forget. She meets a handsome man at a wedding and throws caution to the wind, allowing herself a night to enjoy and not worry about PT, her family or what happened to her, but nothing is ever that simple. Turns out he is the newest member of the Montgomery family’s security company. Daisy is shocked and has to deal with a mutual attraction between them that they cannot deny. Add in the fact he is a single father of an adorable little girl and fans know right away, Daisy is going to be a goner! The thing is danger is still lurking so Daisy has to be careful, but nothing will get in the way of her enjoying every second with Hugh and his little girl. Readers will love seeing more of the Montgomery family. They will also swoon over Hugh, melt over little Lucy and be inspired by Daisy. Another win for Ms. Ryan and this fan cannot wait for Kane’s book!

It was supposed to be a one night stand to blow off steam after attending the wedding of mutual friends. But, unfortunately for Daisy, Hugh is her company's new hire. How are they going to pull off acting like they've never met, when they know each other intimately? So is this a one night stand or a workplace romance? The answer is yes.

So many things are going on in this story. Not just with Daisy and Hugh, but with the business, both expanding and a business threat. Some funny moments that you never want to find yourself in. And let's not forget the loving cousins who act as your older brothers and interrogate, and threaten, the new boyfriend. And through it all Hugh and Daisy persevere. These are two strong people who know what they want and will fight for it.

I found it most interesting that history repeats itself in this story. Years ago, single dad Mace Knight started dating and ultimately married Adrienne Montgomery. Now, single dad Hugh Hendrix is dating Daisy Montgomery Knight.

I loved Shane East as Hugh. That British accent is so delightful to listen to. Kit Swann as Daisy brings out her strength and determination, yet also her softer side with her family and Hugh's daughter.

In Last First Kiss by Carrie Ann Ryan, the author once again demonstrates her ability to infuse every page with heart and soul. With Daisy and Hugh, she creates a spellbinding romance that captures the essence of fate and love.

Set against the backdrop of a wedding, Daisy and Hugh share a stolen night, their connection instantaneous yet fleeting. Fate, however, has other plans as they find themselves unexpectedly reunited. Hugh, a single dad, is a character who steals the reader's heart with his devotion to his daughter Lucy. Daisy's instant bond with Lucy adds depth to their blossoming relationship, making it all the more irresistible.

As expected from Carrie Ann Ryan, the passion between Daisy and Hugh sizzles off the pages, leaving readers breathless. That together with the suspense element, the banter with the other Montgomery family sets Last First Kiss apart, adding an extra layer of magic to an already enchanting tale.

In this captivating romance, Carrie Ann Ryan once again proves her mastery of storytelling, leaving readers eagerly anticipating her next heartfelt masterpiece.

Hugh Hendricks (MMC) is one of their new security hires. They met at a wedding where he caught the garter, and she caught the flowers. They shared a dance and a night of passion.

Hugh had owned his own security business, however he sold it and moved to Colorado to be closer to his daughter Lucy. Daisy is still healing from being injured in the warehouse explosion. Her family and friends are trying to figure out who caused the warehouse explosion.

Lucy moves to a new school and meets Nora Montgomery. These two six-years plot sleepovers, playdates, and all the while playing those adults with their plans. This brings Hugh and Daisy back together. We get to see how they get back together and connect with all the steam 🔥🔥🔥 and drama. The Montgomery Family is happy to see the relationship and they find out trouble was closer than they thought. This is good book and fun to read.

This story picks up just after Happily Ever Maybe.. and let me say it was worth the wait!!!! This is Daisy and Hugh's story. Daisy co owns Montgomery Security along with some of the cousins. Hugh and Daisy first meet at a wedding both as guests, he catches the garter and she catches the bouquet and they share a dance and then end up having a night of passion together that is out of this world. It was supposed to be one night not to happen again no last names that sort of thing, but Monday morning Hugh walks into the security company as the new hire. Hugh recently moved into town to be closer to his ex and daughter Lucy, and he isn't looking for anything but to get his life together with is daughter. But after meeting Daisy he falls hard. Daisy has built walls around her heart hoping to find a guy worthy enough to come along, she is still healing from the explosion and her protective family who takes everyone in and loves and cares for them. it's a nice steady and sweet way they fall for each other. Of course the Happily ever after makes you love Carrie Ann Ryan even more!!! Deff should read !!! Looking forward to the next one!

Audiobook review:

Last First Kiss by Carrie Ann Ryan is the next book in her Montgomery Ink Legacy series and I was so excited to listen to the audiobook. This workplace romance with steamy chemistry and witty banter was narrated by Shane East and Kit Swann who were absolutely amazing as Hugh and Daisy. They met at a wedding and hit it off, yet never expected to see each other again. Then they come back together again and everything changes.

Daisy was beautiful, smart, and determined. I just loved her. Hugh was protective, strong, and just as determined. He moved to Colorado for his daughter and a new job. He wanted to be a good single father, but now the woman that rocked his world is his boss. They can’t go there, right? I loved the chemistry these two shared and the banter between them was amazing. I also loved Hugh’s daughter Lucy and her connection to Daisy and vice versa. Now they are not only trying to figure out what is happening between them but also the looming threat against Daisy. I was captivated from start to finish. I loved their journey so much and devoured this story.

Happy listening!

There is so much to love about this book
It’s history repeating itself and it reminds you how Amazing the Montgomery’s really are!
This is the sort of Hugh and Daisy..
They meet by chance and have incredible chemistry and enjoy an off the charts night!
Unexpectedly they meet again when Hugh’s begins his new job at security company
It’s a story of letting yourself feel the vulnerability and learning that showing your fears and insecurities shows courage and resilience not weakness!
Hugh and Daisy learn to navigate their feelings through the support of “the family “ and Hugh’s beautiful daughter Lucy! Lucy latches on you your heart and is such an important part of the story.
I love how it reminds of us of past Montgomery relationships and really enjoyed the frank conversation between characters.
Central to this story is the fact that Daisy have issues with a rival company and has been getting threatening letters and not is all that it seems with some of the security work.
The suspense is intended to keep you on the edge of your seat and it certainly does that until the very end!

Another brilliant piece of work from Carrie Anne!
