Just Kincaid is a complicated man. Being the oldest son of Dominic Kincaid has been a burden and often a curse.
Newly released from jail and back home in Crescent Falls, Just is determined to finally get his life together and he’s seemingly on track. However, one thing is missing-the right woman to build with.
When Monae comes back into his life, things change. Their connection is magnetic and undeniable. However, both of their respective pasts complicate things.
Just and Monae have work to do if they’re going to make this connection work but both understand that love isn’t a promise, it’s a privilege. If they want their happily ever after, they have to be willing to make it happen, by any means necessary.

I love seeing growth in characters. Just went from being the ill-tempered and irresponsible black sheep of the family who couldn’t stay out of jail to finding Jah, channeling his anger, and becoming a respectable businessman. He realized he didn’t have to prove shyt to Big Dom and finally let that hurt go. Blaise and Dom did what brothers do and helped Just get his tattoo shop opened, he has a celebrity clientele, and now he’s looking for a queen to share his new and improved life with. Monae No Last Name, come on down! Just and Monae shared a night together that left a lasting impression on both of them. But, life was lifeing and neither of them were in a place for a relationship. Oh, but, how things have changed two years later. Just is on his grown man shyt and he’s ready to claim Monae as his. So, sis betta get ready because, he’s gunnin’ for her and MJ. I absolutely loved watching Just come into his own. When he realized he didn’t need the validation he once craved from Big Dom, my guy blossomed like a butterfly. He was in them Crescent Falls streets manifesting and making shyt happen. Yaaaaasssss Just! Insert NeNe Leaks GIF here. Justified Privilege more than lived up to its predecessor. I absolutely adored Monae and Just’s love journey. These two really warmed my heart and gave me all the feels. 🥹🥹🥹
This Was Such A Sweet Story….I really thought I wasn’t going to like just initially when we met him….But, I absolutely love Just…I love the way he took care of MoNae and MJ….This story was so sweet it made me tear up a bit….I can’t wait to see what’s happening next in Crescent Falls.
2nd time was the audiobook…still Love the story….However, the narration didn’t do it for me.
We were introduced to Just in “Spousal Privilege” and it was evident he needed his own story. Just was the eldest of the 3 Kincaid brothers and despite wanting nothing more than to carry on his family legacy and follow in his fathers footsteps, his father had a hatred for him that broke him down. His father made sure to let him know this at every chance he could and as a result, this left Just feeling unworthy. Going down a path that led to incarceration he was easily labeled the black sheep of the family. His brother Dom and Blaise had his back tho and if I am my brothers keeper was a person, it would be these two! They were really rooting for Just and his success and I loved this for him!
Monae had her own fair share of drama when it came to her fk boy dead beat äss baby sperm donor. I mean he was a real piece of work. Despite his manipulative ways, Monae did the dämn thing when it came to taking care of MJ, working and going to school. As the manager at Dom’s club her and Just crossed paths often. While the chemistry was undeniable, it was never the right time for these two. Well two years later, the right time has finally arrived! 🥰🥰 I thoroughly enjoyed Just and Monae’s journey to HEA! That epilogue was the sweetest 🥰🥰🥰 ugh this was such a refreshing love with minimal drama! We love to see it!
Why did I love this so much? Just was rough around the edges, with a heart of gold. Dude was on a mission, and that was to get Monae. I loved how he pursued her. Even though he had his own things going on, he still puts her and Jr. first. Monae had layers to her. At first she came off as this wild girl getting risqué, naughty tattoos, then there's the side of her that came off as a mild mannered girl who wants to be wined, and dined, and….😉 the next, we get a freak who is not afraid to bust it wide open for her man. But I loved me some Monae. She's all about her boy, in spite of her deadbeat BD. She was also 10 toes down for her man. I love that Just gets a love of his own, especially after seeing his siblings. Spoiler: That wedding with all the bebe kids…um swoon 🥰🤩😍 Get into this, y'all. It's cute and kinda short. This is my 3rd read by this author, and I like it here. 4.7⭐️
Ms. Charity flew in under the radar with this one, after reading Spousal Privilege I've been waiting and hoping that Just would get a story and a HEA. In the first book I felt like Just was misunderstood and really wanted to see him heal from his past traumas and get over that piece of 💩father of his. I still stand by my wish for Dom Sr.'s horse ride to hell with gasoline drawerz. I also thought that Just and Monae ended with Spousal Privilege but glad that they got a chance to cultivate the feelings that had begun to develop for each other. Just turned out to be exactly who I thought he would be a gentleman, provider, protector and a sweetheart of a man. Monae and MJ ended up being a safe place for him to land.
Monae, a single mother was driven and focused on being the best for herself and her little man MJ. Her deadbeat baby daddy, Mekhi wasn't trying to let her make it though. He only wanted to participate in MJ's life if Monae would continue to be intimate with him and ignore his cheating. He was like a turd that kept floating to the top after you tried flushing it, but my man Just stepped in and handled that. Monae was no light weight either, I thought that she was going to two-piece Canisha in that tattoo shop.
All in all, I enjoyed this story so much and loved that we got to see the other two Kincaid brothers and get updates on them and their families as well.
4.5⭐️ What a nice story of Just and his Happily Ever After with Monae! 🥰
This novella is based on the eldest brother of the Kincaid siblings (from book 1, Spousal Privilege), Just. ✨Although he was considered the rough/tough, and hardened exterior/interior brother; Monae had a way of bringing that softer side out of him💗 He got to experience the joy of Love and a family (in ways he never imagined). Not only does he become a great man to Monae, he also steps in as an admirable father figure to her son👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 These two were definitely a cute couple to read about!
📖This was a smooth read that wasn’t too over the top with drama (that, I really liked!)😊
Thank you Charity, for not making us wait long to learn Just's story! After the last read, I was so worried about him, wondering if he would ever find his way! Why was he acting out, and what was the damn deal with his sperm donor? You picked up right as Just was getting in a groove, by getting his business off the ground. Yes, the wayward brother was getting his ish together right? Well, sort of! I immediately gave him 👀 wondering why he was even entertaining Canisha! Don't he know you don't ish where you eat? Ughhh...... 🤬 This is going to get messy, I can feel it! Monae was making strides to get herself together as well, until she sees Just! There is just something about him that she can't stay away from, no matter how hard she tries. Between school, work, MJ and Mekhi, the I can't get right, baby daddy, she puts Just in the friend zone. Just wanted Monae something serious, and he was not about to play this friends ish with her ass! Glad she quickly got out of her own way and gave Just a chance. I loved how confident and assertive Just was, but also kind, caring and a teddy bear; just as I thought he would be! He took his job of protecting and taking care of his woman serious as hell! The way he stepped in to care for, and build a relationship with MJ was beautiful! I knew it was only a matter of time before Canisha, and Mekhi f'd around and found out! Monae calmed Just down considerably, but he was always on go mode! Just and Monae were so good together, however, she needed to understand the hold Mr. Kincaid had over Just. That revelation tore me up, you hear me? 💔 I knew from Dom's story that he wasn't ish, but now I just want to throw him away, and set the garbage on fire! 🤬 Poor Just still wanted the love and acceptance from his father, and in doing that, it turned him into a person he didn't know! I smiled as Monae helped guide him through his pain, until he was at a point that he could begin to release it! I knew that Just would be complicated, but you did him justice ma'am! Great read! 👍👍👍
I had the reading pleasure of meeting Just and Monae. We originally met the two in Spousal Privilege by Charity Shane. You do not have to read the previous story, though I highly recommend doing so.
In this book, the author dives deeper into the characters, as they are the focus for this story. I liked Just in the previous story so I was definitely advocating for him to find love. He found just what he needed in Monae. Just is finally acclimated with life after lock up and his tattoo business is doing well. Baby, the glow up! In walks Monae coming into his shop for a tattoo. Let’s just say the chemistry was still clear and that scene was hot, mkay!! 🤞🏾😆Monae is also in her bag; she’s still working at the club but in a better role, she is in school, and doing her thang as a mama.
I was rooting for this couple to make it because their chemistry was everything. Monae tried to put Just in the friendzone and he was like, “okay, friend” but you gon be my wife. The energy was giving!! 🤌🏾- I really can’t put into words how freaking cute these two were together! Just is such a man; he’s professional and such a teddy bear but when it comes to a disrespectful BD, Just does not play! I here for her it!! We Stan a protector!
Overall, this book gave me butterflies- I couldn’t stop smiling. I loved the progression of their relationship, the genuine bond they had, the way they supported each other, and their sexual chemistry couldn’t be missed. Adored this book!
When I met Just in Spousal Privilege, I knew I wanted to know more about him and the way that he rehabilitated his life while in prison. Two years has passed since he was released from prison and Just is a rehabilitated successful business owner. With all his success, he still longs to experience what his brothers have, the love of a good woman. Fate intervenes when Monae, the one who got away, walks in his shop and old feelings he tried to suppress are in full effect. Just embarks on a full court press to get his woman back. Being a single mother who is working and in school, Monae didn’t want a relationship but Just squashed those thoughts with his protective nature towards her and her son. If you’re looking for a soft, unproblematic love story, this is definitely the book for you. Just really placed actions behind his words when it came to winning Monae over and I swooned multiple times in this book. I really empathized with Just and wanted him to win the girl of his dreams. The story did have some with drama but the best thing about it, was it was outside sources and not the couple. With that being said, I feel some flashbacks would’ve placed this story over the edge for me. I felt like we were missing pivotal scenes because they weren’t on page. I know for a fact that conversation with his father needed be on page since his father held such a major catalyst in his life. Overall, I enjoyed this story. With every book she drops, I see the growth in her writing and I can’t wait for more from her pen. This copy was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.
I am so glad Just met Monae. Without her being apart of his life things would have been bad for him. After reading his story I have so much respect for him. His father has done some shady things in front of him and said some horrible things to him but being the protector that he is, he made sure his brothers never knew the type of person their father really was. Until this day his sorry @$$ dad is still jealous of him. The way he treats MJ shows that his mother raised him right. I was glad when Monae stopped playing and gave Just a try. She got to see the good person that he is and also learned about the hatred he has for his father. When she told him to let the hold his father got on him go I knew they was meant for each other.
Charity Shane is truly the best with her writing skills!! The characters are just so relatable and real that I feel as though I’m watching a movie.
The love of the brothers are beautiful and their women. I would hope any young woman who is reading this will know her worth if she is dealing with a person who does not value her. The other is a woman who thinks her body will eventually make him want you.
This book dove into, how the dysfunction began. I can't even say that I was shocked my the father's actions because I wasn't. I'm glad that Just was able to find the love that he desired and needed. What a beautiful love story. Talk about loving a person past their pain. Great job, Charity Shane'.
This is was a cute little story! No real drama. Just an ole broad who couldn’t let go knowing the situationship her and Just were in was just that…a situationship that he made clear. Anyway, I hated how Just father made him feel! He was a nasty piece of trash to his wife and boys! I hated it most for Just because it was a whole slap in the face being the first child yet the third child has his whole name. He needed to really be put in his place and I felt Just was the man to do it. I loved the end when all the flower girls ended up with their fathers! That was too adorable. Loved this Charity!
Ugh Mekhi 🙄😒 It was nice to learn more about Just’s past. His dad is really a piece of work! Monae was playing herself with the “friend zone”. I love a HEA and the epilogue had me smiling. Those Kincaid men don’t stand a chance with having daughters 😂🤣😂
Favorite quote! “I’m his peace, he’s my strength.” Monae
I enjoyed this series and I love Crescent Falls. ❤️😍🫶🏾
Just! 🥰 When you root so heavy for the male lead! This was the book right here to do that for. He deserves it all. I was praying Monae wasn’t going to have me come after her giving that f boy ex anymore chances then she already had! I know a child needs his Dad, but what do you do when the Dad is .. Ugh.. 🤦🏾♀️. I loved playing catch up with Dom and Zoree! I wouldnt mind more from all of them. These are very much likable characters. Enjoy! 😉
*shaking my head* Just is the epitome of BDE at it’s finest!! It was so nice to see his story and learn his why. In the previous book it just seemed as though he was lost and headed for trouble yet again so it was good to see what led him to his decisions. Dom Sr is an a** and I’ll die on that hill though. I loved how Monae knew her worth and put the sperm donor of her son in his place, she let him know. Another great read!!!
I will admit, I was not sure the second story could top the first one, and baby was I ever wrong. Just was just what this story needed. I adored this man, and the fact that he was willing to go hard for another man's child. That was it for me. My slight irritation-I know everyone knew Canisha had double bs, BIG BUTT and BIG Thighs. It was difficult to skip that message with the frequency they were mentioned. Medium butts and thighs need to make a comeback. JS... Butt, overall, I loved this story. 4.75 stars because of the excessive butt mentions... 😉
I knew I wanted to read this book after reading Spousal Privilege not only because I loved Spousal Privilege, but because Just seemed like a manly man no I wanted to read more about him and whew Chile he was everything in this book. Beautifully done! Can’t wait to read more from this author!
The love shared between Just and Monae was absolutely beautiful. Feeling unwanted by his own father Just never saw himself with his own family. Monae brought about a change in him and she showed him that he was worthy of love and I’m so glad he finally found that love that he didn’t think he deserved, he deserved it all.
Just may have been rough around the edges but his heart was pure gold. He did his time and came home and made a life for himself. I felt so proud of him frfr. He loved him some Monae and MJ and that just made me love him more. Mekhi was a pitiful excuse for a dad and MJ is better off without him.
I don’t know why I let this sit in my kindle for so long but I’m so glad I finally got to read it and I promise you, you will not be disappointed.
The oldest of the Kincaid brothers. We first meet Just in Spousal Privilege. Just coming home from doing a “bid”. His life was a bit complicated.
Always wanting to be the one his father chose but was the one who his father gave his behind to kiss Just felt unwanted and loved and did things in his younger years that got him caught up.
Now in the present he’s home and with the help of his brothers he’s become a legit business man and now owns and runs a tattoo parlor.
Our FMC Monae a single mother who has no family now resides in Crescent Falls works for Just younger brother and that is how the two met.
I absolutely adore Just and the relationship he built with her Monae son. Monae has a trash baby daddy but that’s ok cause our Just is JUST the man that baby and his mama needs.
This was a quick read but i loved every bit of this journey I took with Just & Monae!
I loved it and I was so happy that Justice and Monae got together because they most definitely deserve each other. Just didn’t play about her at all and I loved that though.
Whew baby! I loved this book probably more than the first book in this series. Just deserved everything he has earned and pushed through for. You felt his love and dedication to Monae consistently throughout this book. And the babies. Omg the best daddies girls
This was a fantastic book! 👏🏾 I'm so happy Just got his HEA. Just was such a man. I loved the way he loved his girl and MJ. He was not playing bout those two. Great book
Initially I wasn’t sure how I felt about Just. When he got out of prison in book 1 he was giving very much i entitled and disrespectful. He grew on me when he was open to hearing his brothers out and making the effort and putting in work to change his life and secure his future. Fast forward to now and he’s more refined and centered and ready to be on his grown man.
Now I knew from chapter one he was going to have to put Malachi trifling ass in his place, I wanted to see him knocking his head through the wall much more just on GP but he was mature and reformed (I’m still low key mad, cause all the disrespect and audacity he had for Monae he definitely deserved a lot more) BUT growth!
Now when you know you know. Just wasn’t confused about what he wanted with Monae and he showed her that she could trust him and let her guard down with him. In return he found somebody who is just as down for him. I love that she found a provider, protector, and father for her children and I love that he found a soft spot to land, unconditional love, and a confidant in Monae. MJ got the best of it all, Just gone ride for him for life. He gained uncles, aunts, cousins, and lots of stable love.
I love that Malachi took that L and got ghost and I also love that big Dom over there lonely ass hell in the big house hoping and wishing he was better to his kids. Even though I wanted Just to put him on his ass at least once, I’m happy he had Monae to help him do the work of letting go of all that anger. I would’ve love to see them cross paths one more time and Just not be affected or triggered and it bring his trash ass daddy to his knees (and maybe a heart attack and lonely death 🫣🥴).
