Being besties through high school. Discovering the magical world through college. Becoming bonded assassins as adults. Logical progression, right?

Sheridan and Zephyr had been inseparable since freshman year in high school. Dani, the studious nerd and succubus learned to live off the sexual energy of humans who liked to make-out in the library. Zeph, a clothing and fitness model, hides his regal pegasus form, but uses his magical feathers for mischief.

There were once three. Theren Daye, their final musketeer, followed a darker path, splitting off from his friends when the other two feared his growing powers. Now, they are tasked to hunt him down and kill him. Can the two friends find the strength in each other to take down the former friend? Or will old feelings and loyalties jeopardize their mission?

While this story has a multitude of errors (names, spelling, grammar, etc, I'm guessing it didn't go to an editor), I still enjoyed the tale of Zephyr and Sheridan. I was hooked early on and it was a "have to know what happens next" sort of vibe for me. Here's hoping we get another installment of their adventures! This author continues to excel in her storytelling gift.

Wow - how did this mess make it to the publisher?
The editing errors were too distracting. Half the time the author didn't even get the characters names correct...Theren/Thereon/Theron...Dani/Dain...and my favorite Zeph/Jeff...really?
The story would have been okay but the characters weren't very well developed. The misspellings, extra words, and errors were ridiculously inexcusable.
Oh - and NO epilogue!
I almost didn't download the next book.
But I think it's just THIS author...cheap and lazy...

So disappointed!

I loved the other series I read of Kimbra's, but this one really frustrated me. The endless typos, muddled sentences and characters who didn't develop
fully had me ready to scream. I held onto hope that it would get back to her snarky, smart storytelling but it just didn't happen. Now I'm sad.

What a wonderful addition to the DUO series!

I instantly warmed to Zeph and Dani - I guess it helped that they were obvious friends - but it was also great that their stories started at high school, before life begins to really affect them, and the decisions they'll ultimately have to make.

Adding Theren to the mix was a really great touch, too, as the idea of a broody Angel being friends with a Succubus, and a Pegasus, was a wonderful idea (my favourite fantasy animal, before being introduced to Dragons, was the Pegasus!).

As the story progressed, I was drawn ever deeper into it, and I really enjoyed having each characters' point of view leading different chapters. It kept the story fresh, and had a much better, all-round feel to it all.

I loved how opposite to each other that Dani and Zeph seem to be , but also loved that their long term friendship had affected the way they reacted together - obviously making a perfect fit as a DUO partnership!

As the story progressed, and events got darker, I loved the introduction of the incubus, Vincent Russo, who brings much needed knowledge for Dani, to help her accept who she really is.

It comes just in time, as events start to affect both Dani and Zeph, in ways they hadn't ever considered, but which will make the difference for them both, when a much changed Theren comes back into their lives!

Once again DUO has brought me an excellent story, with great characters, a brilliant plotline, and a desperate need to know what's going to happen next.

I'm truly spoilt for choice, in both the storylines, the characters, and the amazing authors who have been, and still are, contributing to this awesome series.

What I like best of all, is that each author is writing their own visions of the DUO pairings, which can be read separately, or together, with each one that is published.

It means that, luckily for we voracious readers, there are even more stories, plotlines, and characters to come, but these all fit in beautifully within the series itself.

I'm so spoilt for choice right now, that it's making me dizzy with the choices I have to make!

Talking of which, I have so very many books that I've bought over the last year or so, but still haven't managed to read, so, for my next book - while I wait for all the new DUO ones to come, I decided to go back a bit, and I've chosen another series - a box set this time - to start reading.

This is called: A Very British Witch, and is written by Isobella Crowley, with book one called: Scarlett.

I don't believe I've read anything by this author before, so it's going to be a true surprise to me, whether I'll love it or not so, without ado, I'll start reading it, and I'll catch you on the flip side, to let you know if I've found another keeper! Lol

Style is everything!

In my world, an author’s writing style trumps almost everything. If you can write well, I’ll read your work, even if the storyline is trite, painfully predictable, or just downright awful. I’m thinking of one author in particular who utterly lacks imagination, but man can she write.

In this case that’s not an issue. As far as style goes, Kimbra Swain has that and MORE. I fell in love with her writing within just a few pages. But this lady not only has style, she has class. And, not only does she have style and class, but she has imagination to go along with it. So let me tell you folks, you get the whole package with this one.

Of course, no one and no thing are perfect, and alas neither is Ms Swain. There are some glaring editing gaffs, a couple of painful ones and even one glaringly painful mistake where it seems an entire paragraph was deleted. But don’t let this dissuade you. This is a GREAT read and you won’t regret picking it up.

Only at the end when reading her bio did I learn that she’s already quite well known, but I’m not surprised. Like I said, this lady is the real deal and the whole package. So go grab it and read it!

I want my money back!

I don’t know if this author was drunk, high, both or worse when she wrote this. This series is written by different authors and they should write this one off and get rid of it. Typos, errors and just bad writing. She kept changing one character’s name from Theren to Theron and back and forth. One time it was Thereon. Zeph, one time was Jeff. Some places were just gibberish and could not be understood what was written. She broke consistency with other authors in books before this one in the series. If you haven’t read this one, I would skip it! I want my money back!

A great new world for Kimbra!

DUO is a great series with a great collective set of authors.

In Consuming Wind our hero's are Dani and Zeph. Best friends from high school. She is a succubus that hates her powers. Zeph is a Pegasus shifter. In the human world of Miami he has few places to safely shift. Humans cannot find out about magic.
They end up on a path to an old friend Ran. An angel that has turned dark. Can they save him or have to end him? What will and do they learn about their own powers.
Grab your copy and step into this new world.
Way to go Kimbra Swain!!!

Delta Underground Operatives

The Delta Underground Operatives is a bunch of Authors sharing the same world and organization. With differing authors with their own characters you get to experience different author styles all within the same sphere I guess would be a apt description.

Another good story in the DUO reality by Kimbra Swain one of many fine authors in this series

An interesting story in the DUO story line where the author takes you through the very early years of a pair of friends. She then takes you through the events that causes them to become dualcasters.I look forward to reading more from the author

Exciting 4th series of the DUOcasters universe!

Awesome read! Sheridan is a Librarian Succubus. Zephyr is a Pegasus shifter Model! They've been friends since high school.

A bit different than the others but still pretty great read. Dani and Zephyr have been friends since High School. They are both magicals. The Puddle has paired them to work together.

Great concept

Haven't read too many books with succubus or Pegasus shifters. The whole duo concept was very interesting. Bonding and shared strength. I need more

Great story and am looking forward to the next one. It does need more editing. The many typos, and other issues (i.e. not capitalizing proper names) take me out of this story.
