I’m starting to believe I’m the problem and that’s why I hate every book I have read lately.
This book was terrible, the only good part of this book were the first 5 chapters then everything went downhill from there.

The fmc, Piper, is pathetic, annoying and literally a doormat😪 reading from her pov was exhausting. She had no self respect at all, her only personality was being in love with the mmc since she was 7 :/
The worst character of the whole book: Lucas, omg, I wanted to take my eyes out every time i had to read something from his pov, he was so so so toxic, one second he will be talking to her normally and then he will just leave her alone and giving her his back, If he had acted that way with everyone else I would have diagnosed him with BPD (as a psychology graduate) but not, he only acted that way with Piper which makes everything worse, he was an asshole to her (and obviously she went crawling back to him) it was a pulled and pushed situation, and the reason he acted like that with her was ridiculous.
once they got together the story was too cheesy (not in a good way), they were supposed to be in love with each other since they were kids but they only had sex (the cringiest scenes) every time they were together and nothing emotionally grew between them. She basically fell in love with him because he helped her when she fell riding a bicycle and idek when he fell in love with her, because everything was superficial in the whole book. All the plot happens in the first 40% of the book, the rest was a waste of time.
I swear I’m not a hater it just looks like I don’t know how to pick a good book lately😔

The heroine is the most pathetic, childish, annoying and DOORMAT HEROINE EVER. It was so annoying reading her POV and her actions and words cause it’s so low of her! I feel so disgusted about this heroine🥵💀 She was so weak and so stupid many times😓 I thought this book would be good but nope. The heroine truly disgusted me and made me wants to have a quick exit reading this heroine character. And also the story itself for me personally, is not too romantic and i don’t find myself saying awee many times or couple of times. I just can’t feel the great chemistry here! 🥵 Especially when the heroine is ALWAYS the only one who made the first move to the hero rather than the hero himself🙄🙄 LIKE EW GIRL HAVE SOME DIGNITY! NOT MT TYPE OF HEROINE AND NOT MY TYPE OF BOOK! 🥵💀💀
Quick recap of the story: The heroine meet the hero when she was seven. She was new to the neighborhood and the hero was actually her first friend before the hero eventually BEST FRIENDS with the heroine’s big brother as well. YEARS GO BY LIKE SUMMER BEFORE COLLEGE, the heroine was on a date with a certain someone that everybody didn’t know about and turns out that someone who’s name is Jayden cheated on her. She broke up immediately with him and was hurt then she called the hero. The hero immediately went after her and get her cause at the time they were neighbors. Then the hero POV started, the heroine’s big brother warned his friends and to the hero of course to stay away from his sister. The hero was CELIBATE FOR A YEAR because he can’t stop thinking about the heroine. A year before he was going to be celibate, he saw the heroine in a bikini and that made him know that the heroine is it. That made him claimed himself to be obsessed with the heroine…. Even when they were going to parties and hockey player puck bunnies are everywhere, the hero never ever touched them and never ever liked them since he claimed himself to love the heroine… BUT BEFORE HE WENT CELIBATE FOR THE HEROINE, HE FVCKS MANY WOMAN…. HE EVEN SHOWED IT TO THE HEROINE BECAUSE HE THOUGHT THAT WAY IT WILL GET HIM “OVER THE HEROINE” 💀 So that’s his celibate story side story. BACK TO CURRENT TIME… After that episode of him picking up and helping the heroine, days later the heroine’s brother asked her to go to this party with all of them the boys… She goes and then there was a blackout. The hero was searching for the heroine then when everything went dark, THE HEROINE KISSED HIM AND MADE A MOVE ON HIM. Of course he kiss her back and they was having this hot moment grinding each other… After few minutes the power is back again, the hero grab the heroine to be alone so that everyone won’t see them together especially her big protective brother… They had amazing s3x at that time. After they had s3x, the heroine’s big brother immediately found out about it and was so mad about them…. The hero make a big statement that he really loves her so much and will never ever hurt her… The big bro went away and sadly got into a car accident and died. The hero blames himself for it and thought the heroine was mad about it… After that accident, he treated the heroine so badly and even left her when she needed him the most… Like literally left town… She just lost her brother and then the hero just say “that wasn’t supposed to happened” to the heroine when both of them knows that they liked each other for years! And left🥵🥵🥵😓😓🙄
When the book started, the story immediately just goes about the couple. Which is great i think. But because there was a saying from the hero that he fvcks many woman before he claimed himself to love the heroine and at the time she have to see all of that happening… While the heroine and hero both knows they liked each other. But still the hero have to do that? It made me dislike him very much💀 The heroine claimed to see that so it was annoying! I’m glad the future and current time that his manwhor3 ways is in the past, not the future… But still the way he likes the heroine but can’t have her cause her big bro then fvcks many woman for me is DISGUSTING STATE OF MIND.
And for me that is a coward move to not go forward for the heroine because of her big brother 🥵 A LOSER….
What I don’t like about the book and more of the insane annoying heroine:
1. A YEAR LATER GOES BY AFTER THE ACCIDENT OF THE BIG BRO… THE HERO WAS BUSY WITH HOCKEY AND THE HEROINE WAS ALSO BUSY WITH HER JOB. WHEN THEY WERE REUNITED, THE HERO STILL TREATING THE HEROINE SO BADLY CAUSE HE STILL FEELS GUILTY ABOUT THE ACCIDENT AND HE CLAIMS TO “love her but can’t have her” 💀
2. THE HEROINE MADE THE FIRST MOVE OF KISSING AND MOSTLY EVERY ROMANTIC THING. WHAT THE ACTUAL FVCK🥵💀 I HATE HER SO MUCH. WHEN THEY WERE REUNITED A YEAR LATER, she kissed him firsts! Like wtf? Then when they were arguing and the hero was the one whose wrong, the heroine yes kissed him first and also made the first move of the hero have to do things to her like satisfying her… When they were also arguing and at the time the hero is the wrong one as well, THE HEROINE KISSED HIM FIRST AGAIN AND AGAIN.
3. WHEN THEY WERE REUNITED A YEAR LATER, the heroine claimed that she was so extremely hurt by the hero cause he left her alone and completely ignored her even when they meet for a family gathering. She went on a therapy season to get over him cause she was so hurt. BUT SHE DIDN’T GIVE HIM A HARD TIME WHEN THEY MEET AGAIN A YEAR LATER OR MADE HIM GROVELING 🥵💀🙄 NOPE. She simply just go weak around him and always melts for him… FVCKING B*TCH🙄
4. When they reunited and become officially a couple, the hero vows to WOO her to make up the times he treated her bad and left her. They have great times and fun times, but the annoying part is that the heroine didn’t give him a hard time. She always the one who says “you don’t have to do this” like shut up you stupid woman!
5. THE WORST PART is that the heroine was on a grieving app that her therapist recommended her with, and she was talking to this guy she thought was a great guy and she talks to him about everything. And turns out that guy was the hero himself… The fact that the hero knows about everything single heart break and feeling moment of the heroine throughout that one year of being anonymous, HE NEVER EVER WENT AFTER HER… HE NEVER EVER CHASE HER… AND EVEN WHEN THEY WERE REUNITED, HE NEVER EVER MADE THE FIRST MOVE TO APOLOGIZE FOR HER… HE LEFT HER COMPLETELY ALONE KNOWING EVERYTHING…. AND WHEN THE HEROINE FOUND OUT ABOUT THE APP AND THE HERO IS ACTUALLY THE ONE SHE TALKED TO, SHE WENT AWAY TO HER FRIEND FOR FOUR DAYS. DID HE SEARCH FOR HER? YEAH BUT ONLY ONE TIME🤣 THEN NOPE. THEN HE WENT AWAY FOR HIS HOCKEY GAME IN LONDON. THE STUPID HEROINE GOES TO LONDON AND SAYS TO THE HERO THAT EVERYTHING WILL BE OKAY. DID SHE GAVE HIM A HARD TIME? NOPE. SHE JUST IGNORED AND WHEN THEY MEET, SHE’S THE ONE WHO SAYS IT WILL BE FINE. SOOOOO EASY FOR HER…. LIKE WTF!
6. The heroine doesn’t have a great pov and so annoying reading her. The hero as well is a coward and stupid.
7. THROUGHOUT THE BOOK, MANY OF PUSHING AWAY FROM THE HERO…. MANY!!!!!!!!!! 🙄🫠
8. SLOW BURN BUT ANNOYING SLOW BURN ESPECIALLY WITH THE PUSHING AWAY😓😓😓
I can’t read a book with a woman have no class, stupid, childish and DOORMAT. YEAH NOPE!!! She doesn’t have any dignity so simply she’s disgusting. Even the romance for me like I don’t know why, I don’t feel the great chemistry. Especially too many pushing away and too many annoying foreplay that in the end always is nothing cause the hero was so afraid of the brother🥵
‼️‼️‼️NO CHEATING, NO VIRGINS, SEPARATED AFTER ONE NIGHT STAND AND A YEAR but both are celibate and the hero never ever look or touch another woman but the heroine went on a date like two times but never ever have s3x with either of them, BEFORE THEY HAVE S3X the hero was celibate for a year as well but the heroine dated and give her virginity to someone else. And happy ending, married and have two kids.
Sorry I can’t say more about the book cause is not my type of book and the characters is very annoying 🙄
Sorry if my review is not what you want cause you probably love the book, but for me I don’t like this story and personally a doormat weak heroine is just not for me. AND ALSO i liked a alpha male hero with 100% he is the one who chase the heroine and will do ANYTHING to be with her, not this coward stupid hero who can’t even fight for for her 🥵💀

I am OBSESSED!!!! I LOVED this book, it was absolute perfection! I loved getting more backstory on the characters we’ve met already in Rule Number Five and read about how Piper and Lucas got to where they were in the first book! Some moments were really emotional and brought tears to my eyes! It’s so well written, I adore Jessa! The MCs relationship starts off rocky to say the least but trust the process, it’s all worth it! In the words of Ron Weasley: you’re gonna suffer, but you’re gonna be happy about it! Please read it! Can’t recommend it enough for anyone who loves hockey romance, second chance, childhood friends to lovers and brother’s best friend!

obviously not enough stars to do this justice. LOVE this series. Lucas and Pipers story was sad to get through but im glad their story ended the way it did. They had that undeniable love for eachother and it was hard to fight. I absolutely adore this author and cannot wait to read the next in the series. The very end sentence in this book??? such a tease I love it.

I'll be honest the timeline I believe is before 5 rules, so we don't see Sid and Jax as a couple at all until like near the end.. which sucks we see manwhore Jax which I didn't like at all..
But anyways
This is about Piper and Lucas they have been friends forever she met him first but he sorta left her for her brother. Still they been in the same friend circle. Now it's present time and they been pinning for eachother but don't do nothing since her brother. But they finally do something and tragedy happens forcing Lucas to push away Piper.
Now it's been some time and they are finally near eachother again but he's cold to her making sure she doesn't see him as a friend. But she still around since she still talks to the other guys. So he has to see her every day and try to put on this act. It's a up and down Rollercoaster.
Until he finally took his head out his butt and gave in. But he has a tiny secert he hasn't shared with her that could break there relationship. And let me tell you when it comes out it's alot. Takes awhile for Piper to forgive him but she does.

Are we supposed to be rotting for MMC? Because since the first moment I hated him. He did her dirty the entire book,not once I felt sympathy for him or her.
Piper has no backbone, no self respect and she need to stop letting other people tell her what to do. Damn, she's so infuriating, stupid, pathetic and naive. How could she forgave him so fast? He hurted her in so many ways but everything it took for her to forgive him was buying her food from her hometown???
One paragraph she's like "I was done with making decisions around him." only for her to fell into his arms in the next paragraph, not even a page or a chapter, a damn paragraph. He didn't even deserved a first shot with her, he never gave her a reason for her to belive he was into her but she threw herself at him countless time I felt so ashamed for her.
“You told me you didn’t want me. You made me think I was just a part of some stupid game.” and still she forgave him.
It amazed me how low her love expectations were, she accepted be treated crap more than once after they had sex, she let him treat her classmate like garbage, she screwed two opportunities with two good guys just bc he glared at her direction...
Everyone around her also convincing her (specially the roommate) to forgave him,saying they're made for each other (?). Nothing in this book once made me believe they deserved to be end game. Piper had more chemistry with Alex and even Jax than Lucas.
Lucas didn't deserved to be named captain, he didn't deserved to even look at Piper. Manipulative and a liar describe him best.

When I blew up Jessa’s DM’s about the brutal third act breakup from the last book she said that I wouldn’t have to worry about that again….what she failed to mention was the astronomical FIRST ACT BREAKUP in this one. MY HEART HURTS.
Piper and Lucas grew up next door to each other. While Piper was always Marcus’ little brother, she had a safe space in Lucas through all of her struggles. When the two finally give into temptation and their feelings the night ends in tragedy with the loss of Marcus. Reeling from guilt Lucas distances himself and Piper takes a year off of school. Once she returns both of them realize their feelings they have tried to tamp down haven’t lessened at all and things have only gotten more complicated.
This book took me on such a roller coaster of emotions. The first act breakup to the emotional trauma and growth both characters delved into was such a beautiful journey. Knowing what was coming gave me a little bit of comfort but it also felt like watching a slow motion train crash until the happy ending came around.
The love and trust and growth both these characters went on was so unique and I honestly loved their story so so much. It was heart wrenching and beautiful and made me feel all of the feels.

Podobało mi się to, ale mam trochę ale. Po pierwsze to dlaczego to jest kurwa 2 tom? Czemu on nie jest pierwszy, tylko seria zaczyna się od dupy strony przez co czytając niby 1 tom wjebalam sobie takie spojlery do tego. Po drugie Lukas na początku to jest jakiś bipolarny, bo raz jest dla Piper odchyły, za chwilę już zachowuje się normalnie, a w kolejnej scenie znowu jest dla niej chamski. Trwało to jakiś czas, ale na szczęście w końcu to się zakończyło, bo już momentami przestałam nadążać, czy oni się już lubią, czy nie. A ostatni rozdział to było takie cudeńko!! Boże jakie to było słodkie 😭😭 uwielbiam takie zakończenia. Generalnie to bawiłam się naprawdę się dobrze przy czytaniu tej serii, ale narazie odpuszczam 3 tom, bo słyszałam, że jest już o wiele słabszy, więc narazie sobie przerwę i kiedyś go nadrobię.

i can’t talk about why i hated this book so much because i literally just raved about the third one seven hours ago. it’s on me for speed reading this and expecting it to be as good as the other one, i am kinda disappointed and i most likely won’t be picking up the first book. mia, alex, and river just work better and had a better story. this book just pissed me off on so many occasions and i had visceral reactions to some of the cringey scenes. like i had to set my phone down and really force myself to not dnf this, i should’ve.

Kiedy przeczytałam “Zasadę numer pięć”, wiedziałam, że sięgnę również po “Zasady gry”, czyli historię Piper i Lucasa. I przyznam, że obie te książki mają tak świetny klimat, że czyta się je bardzo szybko i co najważniejsze - bardzo, ale to bardzo przyjemnie!
O ile “Zasada numer pięć” była całkiem lekka i nie zawierała aż takich wrażliwych treści, tak w “Zasadach gry” zdecydowanie mamy poruszone dużo cięższe tematy takie jak śmierć bliskiej osoby i żałoba po jej stracie. Na to zwracałabym uwagę szczególnie w przypadku osób wysoko wrażliwych bądź takich, którzy zwyczajnie nie lubią czytać o takich sytuacjach.
“Zasady gry” to opowieść o Piper i Lucasie, którzy w zasadzie byli przyjaciółmi od dzieciństwa. A ściślej rzecz biorąc, Lucas był najlepszym kumplem Marcusa – brata Piper. Dziewczyna jest w nim zakochana od siódmego roku życia, lecz ten – lojalny wobec swojego przyjaciela – odrzuca wszelkie przejawy sympatii z jej strony. Lecz jak się dowiadujemy już z pierwszych stron książki - robi to wbrew sobie i swoim uczuciom, bowiem dla niego Piper jest również kimś więcej niż tylko siostrą Marcusa, którą wszyscy znajomi traktują jak młodszą siostrę.
Ale pewnego wieczoru zasada dotycząca dziewczyny zostaje złamana. Niewyjaśniona sytuacja prowadzi do tragicznego w skutkach wydarzenia, po którym wydawać by się mogło, że już nic nie jest takie samo. Ale co w przypadku, kiedy w grze uczestniczą prawdziwe uczucia? Czy miłość okaże się tak silna, że wygra pojedynek ze wszystkimi innymi przeciwnościami?
Część historii Piper i Lucasa znamy już z pierwszej części tej serii, ale to w “Zasadach gry” cała akcja skupia się na tej dwójce i opowiada bliżej ich relację, jej początki i wszystko co z nimi związane.
Szczerze? Ta historia naprawdę wbija igły w serce, a momentami wręcz łamie je na kawałki. Ten tom miał w sobie coś szczególnego i pomimo bólu zawartego w tej historii, poruszył mnie bardzo mocno.
Co do samych bohaterów: przyznam, że w “Zasadzie numer pięć” Jax i Sydney wydawali mi się nieco lepiej stworzeni przez autorkę i ich zachowania były trochę bardziej przemyślane niż Piper i Lucasa, ale to właśnie historia tej drugiej pary w moim odczuciu była ciekawsza. Między bohaterami pozostawało mnóstwo niewyjaśnionych sytuacji, przez które oboje źle interpretowali swoje zachowanie i nie mogli dojść do porozumienia, co przyznam, że momentami mi delikatnie przeszkadzało, ale końcowo nie wpłynęło na to, bym oceniła tę książkę negatywnie. Dodatkowo ciekawym wątkiem był tajemniczy chłopak z aplikacji, który pomógł Piper w przetrwaniu trudnych chwil po stracie brata. Uważam, że mogłoby to zostać jeszcze bardziej rozwinięte przez autorkę, co z pewnością korzystnie wpłynęłoby na całość historii.
Koniec końców “Zasadę numer pięć” oraz “Zasady gry” oceniam bardzo podobnie.
Jak normalnie w tego typu książkach nie przepadam za epilogami w stylu ‘10 lat później’, tak tutaj uważam, że taki epilog pasował idealnie. No i oczywiście czekam na historię Mii! <3

O ile “Zasada numer pięć” była całkiem lekka i nie zawierała aż takich wrażliwych treści, tak w “Zasadach gry” zdecydowanie mamy poruszone dużo cięższe tematy takie jak śmierć bliskiej osoby i żałoba po jej stracie. Na to zwracałabym uwagę szczególnie w przypadku osób wysoko wrażliwych bądź takich, którzy zwyczajnie nie lubią czytać o takich sytuacjach.
“Zasady gry” to opowieść o Piper i Lucasie, którzy w zasadzie byli przyjaciółmi od dzieciństwa. A ściślej rzecz biorąc, Lucas był najlepszym kumplem Marcusa – brata Piper. Dziewczyna jest w nim zakochana od siódmego roku życia, lecz ten – lojalny wobec swojego przyjaciela – odrzuca wszelkie przejawy sympatii z jej strony. Lecz jak się dowiadujemy już z pierwszych stron książki - robi to wbrew sobie i swoim uczuciom, bowiem dla niego Piper jest również kimś więcej niż tylko siostrą Marcusa, którą wszyscy znajomi traktują jak młodszą siostrę.
Ale pewnego wieczoru zasada dotycząca dziewczyny zostaje złamana. Niewyjaśniona sytuacja prowadzi do tragicznego w skutkach wydarzenia, po którym wydawać by się mogło, że już nic nie jest takie samo. Ale co w przypadku, kiedy w grze uczestniczą prawdziwe uczucia? Czy miłość okaże się tak silna, że wygra pojedynek ze wszystkimi innymi przeciwnościami?
Część historii Piper i Lucasa znamy już z pierwszej części tej serii, ale to w “Zasadach gry” cała akcja skupia się na tej dwójce i opowiada bliżej ich relację, jej początki i wszystko co z nimi związane.
Szczerze? Ta historia naprawdę wbija igły w serce, a momentami wręcz łamie je na kawałki. Ten tom miał w sobie coś szczególnego i pomimo bólu zawartego w tej historii, poruszył mnie bardzo mocno.
Co do samych bohaterów: przyznam, że w “Zasadzie numer pięć” Jax i Sydney wydawali mi się nieco lepiej stworzeni przez autorkę i ich zachowania były trochę bardziej przemyślane niż Piper i Lucasa, ale to właśnie historia tej drugiej pary w moim odczuciu była ciekawsza. Między bohaterami pozostawało mnóstwo niewyjaśnionych sytuacji, przez które oboje źle interpretowali swoje zachowanie i nie mogli dojść do porozumienia, co przyznam, że momentami mi delikatnie przeszkadzało, ale końcowo nie wpłynęło na to, bym oceniła tę książkę negatywnie. Dodatkowo ciekawym wątkiem był tajemniczy chłopak z aplikacji, który pomógł Piper w przetrwaniu trudnych chwil po stracie brata. Uważam, że mogłoby to zostać jeszcze bardziej rozwinięte przez autorkę, co z pewnością korzystnie wpłynęłoby na całość historii.
Koniec końców “Zasadę numer pięć” oraz “Zasady gry” oceniam bardzo podobnie.
Jak normalnie w tego typu książkach nie przepadam za epilogami w stylu ‘10 lat później’, tak tutaj uważam, że taki epilog pasował idealnie. No i oczywiście czekam na historię Mii! <3

This is the second book in Jessa Wilder's hockey series, Rule Breaker. This is a complete standalone and books do not need to be read in order.
This book takes place before Rule Number 5, which is Jax and Sidney's story. I loved that and I enjoyed seeing more of Jax's backstory. Made me love his story even more.
Back to Lucas and Piper, the MCs. They were frickin' adorable. I loved seeing how their friendship began and how they explored their attraction to one another. Their story had so much heart, really emotional and brought me to tears as some points.
Even though she is still dealing with the tragic trauma from her past, Piper is feisty and strong-willed. She continues to conquer everything life throws at her with a supreme level of sass.
And Lucas Knight....OMGsh!!! He really was her knight. The things he would do for her, holding her during nightmares, getting her favorite food, watching her fave movie, I mean I could go on forever. The level of how much he paid attention to Piper was adorable.
This book gave me all the feels and I absolutely love when a book accomplishes that. Loved the tension, heartbreak, spice....all perfection! Also....the last line in the book!!! I will be going back to reread Rule Number 5 now bc I want more of Lucas and Piper with what I know now.
Cannot wait for the 3rd book to see Mia, River and Alex!!!

I WILL NOT ACCEPT ANY CRITICISM!
Okay… I’m well aware I need to do the reviews of my other four books I read but PLEASE just bear with me.
I randomly came across this hockey romance book on instagram and I saw the tropes and was like yes.... I must read this and it threw me for a damn LOOP because yes it did contain all the tropes but one major key factor that is SO IMPORTANT was not included. I understand why because it would give away too much for the book and THAT ONE THING is surrounding this whole story and made my heart wrench the whole time reading.
I can see why people would feel a certain way when it comes to Lucas and Piper but I was 100% rooting for them the whole way through.. I understood both points of views and why everything was so complicated even though they loved each other so much. I cant give too much away without revealing the main parts of the book but basically there’s a story behind the story and I went through such a rollercoaster of emotions reading, I went from giddy, kicking my feet, pulling my hair, sobbing, screaming and feeling so content... I really just could not deal with the amount of love, not just between the MC’s but all the side characters as well. There was SO MUCH emotion that I really could not deal with it and I was not just crying some little crocodile tears I actually stopped reading and cried my eyes out...I am such an empathetic person that I feel pain, happiness and love for those around me and I adored all these characters they really will stay close to my heart.🥹
I loved all the hockey boys, from childhood friends to best friends into family, Piper, Marcus, Lucas, Jax, Alex and River were all amazing and there dynamic really showed through the whole book as more than just friends. It’s a series but honestly this is the one that caught my attention from the four books by J. Wilder but seeing that last sentence in the book kind of had me curious now... so I might just get into it, but I don’t think any of them will top this one.

This was such a cute read! I adored Piper and Lucas and the tension and angst between them? LOVE LOVE LOVE. Tons of pining and quite a bit of jealousy scenes had me feeling feral honestly. I devoured this beauty in a solid 6 hours and lemme tell you...no regrets!!! As usual, Jessa's writing was phenomenal and I'm so excited to read about Mia, River and Alex (one of my most anticipated reads of this year fyi😏)
