Desie has always had her life figured out. Become a nurse, make a pack with her loves, have their babies, live happily ever after. She was all set to check those off her nice, clean to-do list. All those perfect plans came to a screeching halt the night they lost Rafe, destroying their future before it ever started.
Now a new pack is circling her like starving wolves, but she isn't prey for the Flores pack to hunt.
Ben and Michael only want one thing in life. Desir'ee. But according to the West Coast Council they need a third alpha to complete their pack or they'll never be allowed to claim her as their own.
The Flores pack is nipping at their heels, looking for any mistakes in their past to steal their future. Determination and grit are all they have to ensure they keep the love of their lives.
Even if that means kidnapping her and heading East.
I never know what to tell people about myself. I live at home with my handsome bearded half, my brats, and my zoo.
The characters in my stories are very vocal and demanding. They have no problem keeping me up at night until their lives are properly displayed on paper.
I write about everything from alphas to vampires to hockey players, and everything in between. Welcome to chaos!
If you thought Seth f**king Pratchett was irredeemable in The Beta series, you might be surprised by what you find in this book. I am a sucker for a great redemption arc and loved jumping into The Alpha to see where Seth’s would lead me. But this story is more than his; it is also the omega, Desie’s story, and the twin alpha brothers who love her and want to make her pack.
Not going to lie; I was softening to Seth already in The Beta. I felt that if Talia could forgive him, there had to be something there. What he had done was villainous and wrong, even if it was for the right reasons, but seeing him here and getting his POV humanized him in a way that I had not expected. Though his redemption is far from complete, he has earned some sympathy. He is broken, just going through the motions.
The brothers are incredibly possessive and willing to do almost anything to keep Desie with them, including dragging a complete stranger into their group to fit the ruling requiring three alphas in a pack. They are also madly in love with her and attentive to her needs. They have been part of her life for years, from best friends protecting the smaller girl on the playground to future mates.
There are some intense heat spikes and a hot heat cycle with the usual hallmarks of OV – scent marking, slick, knotting, nesting, and claiming (and a healthy dosage of dirty talk). All interactions are MF or MFM.
Part One ends on a cliffhanger. I look forward to what comes next!
While not necessary to read The Beta trilogy before starting The Alpha Part One, you will get a richer experience knowing Seth’s backstory and the overarching omega crisis.
This is the best redemption romance I’ve read in a long time!! I love this new side of Seth and everything that he is fighting for! I can’t wait for part 2!!
Gahhhhhh, I knew I should have never picked up this book! I did not want redemption. I was perfectly fine absolutely loathing Seth.
Alas I did pick up this book and I went from absolutely hating him to wanting to like him, to finally understanding and seeing things that were missed in the OG series.
Also the twins and Desiree and their tragic story in their past omgah my heart could not take the way that their broken souls fit so perfectly with Seth’s broken soul🥹🥲…. and now I’m the sucker that ate her own words, and said that she would hate Seth until the end of time.
Absolutely amazing Avanne has done it again! Love, love anything and everything she puts out. This is a great 4th installment of the beta and I can't wait to see where this series goes.
The last year and a half I’ve absolutely fallen in love with omegaverse, and especially the eastverse and all things Avanne Michaels. She writes dark and gritty omegaverse with a lot of heart. The relationships are some of my absolute favorite. I find myself going back and rereading scenes. I’ve already reread this book twice in the last month. Can’t wait to devour more of her books.
I loved the first three books in this series and this book is already as big a favorite. I wasn't sure about Seth as a character in the first three books, but I was sold on him and his redemption in this book. Desie is a delightful omega - ready to be the heart of a pack, deeply enmeshed in her loving family - but she's been let down by the two alphas who should have been her pack but for a cruel law requiring a pack of three+ alphas to one omega.
I was disappointed in Michael and Ben. They knew the time was coming when Desie would have to choose another pack and they kept delaying and delaying, not doing the things they needed to do to find a third to ensure their omega was protected. That allowed Desie to be vulnerable to a predatory pack. Michael and Ben deserve some heartache for letting Desie down. Fingers crossed that they step up for her in the next book!
The Alpha, is the first book in the offshoot from Avanne Michaels' The Beta series. It follows a new Omega Desie and her Alphas, twin brothers Ben and Michael. Here in lies the problem, to register as a pack, you need a minimum of 3 Alphas. The clock is ticking and time is running out. To make matters worse, Desie has caught the eye of a prominent pack with a major "ick" factor and they're chomping at the bit to claim this Omega. In comes Seth F*@%ing Prachett, the Alpha previously HATED in the Beta series for heinous actions of his packmates (and him - regardless of intent) against Beta turned Omega Talia. Though his redemption did start during the Beta series, I'm sure he will continue to win us over in this series. I did thoroughly enjoy this first installment and can happily relay that some major concerns I had with the first series (complete lack of PTSD) seem to be at the forefront of Seth's story and were well done. I look forward to seeing this story unfold and how Seth comes to terms, deals with, and overcomes the demons of his past. I also very much enjoyed the cameos (even over the phone) from some characters from the Beta series and very much look forward to them being part of the next book if that cliffy is any indication where this is heading!!
I always love, love, love a new series and this one was no exception. Especially since we got to see some of the characters from The Beta. As the series goes on we will get to see a lot more of them it seems. Which I am thrilled about. But The Alpha by itself was magnificent! It revolves around these two guys Michael and Ben, who are alphas and Desie, who is an omega. But unfortunately they need another alpha to register them as a true pack. Along comes Seth! YES, that Seth! The one from The Beta. The Seth that we started out hating but wind up liking. The Seth that deserves redemption. The highs and the lows that this book will take you! The emotions, wow! Micheal, Ben and Desie know that Seth is their third alpha but they have to convince him that. But hold on, here comes Seth’s past to haunt him. Oh I forgot to mention the other pack that wants Desie at all cost. Avanne Michael’s wrote us a masterpiece! I can not wait till the next book!!
AmazeBalls!!! Boy oh boy… as great as the Eastverse was, the Westverse is going to be better ( I can feel it) believe it or not. I can’t believe these series is just getting better. Hell’s bell’s shoooo… I can not see left from right. I never even saw this series & Seth Pratchett coming. Considering how despised he was all through the Eastverse. However here we are 🤷♀️ Avanne has a way of swinging the pendulum so swiftly it’s astounding how quickly things can change. I mean we saw how drastically things changed in “Part Two of The Beta” Smdh. That whole series I never saw anything coming until it finally arrived.
This books started of very juvinial… in a sense, the twins seemed like teenagers & so did Desi, straggly so, that’s what I’m thinking and once again this author catches you sleeping & the next thing you know Seth walks into the diner and the whole landscape changes like, one of Hogwards ever changing staircase landings 👀 crazy just crazy-made my ass sit up and pay closer attention, ahhhh forgetting I was just going with the flow mere minutes ago. Now I’m invested. 🤣🤣🤣
This opening book to the Westverse (The Alfa) playing of on the West Coast is shockingly good. Gaaawd I loath having to wait for part two. A crying shame… The Beta was great but everything about this book is fabulous… of course one needed to have read (The Beta) series to understand the gravity of this book. To me this just feels like a part four.
So this book can’t be read without reading that East-Verse first. The overlap of characters & story is to prominent to start reading this book as a standalone. And of course Seth’s story continues on with the introduction of the identical Twin alfas Benny & Micheal and omega Desiree… and what yah know, things has gone from great to spectacular🙌
Me, annoyed, now that I finished that darn cliffhanger, as we well know Avanne don’t do much massive cliffhangers at the end, she tends to shock the hell out of us in the middle 🤣 however here she gave us one hell of a ride to the shocking end. Man this woman is oh so good. One just never know on this unexpected adventure .
I’ll be honest and say that this book took me a while to start. I wasn’t sure I wanted Seth to have a redemption story. Like many of Talia’s pack I still hated him even if she didn’t.
Seeing Seth’s trauma over everything that happened did not make what he did ok. It did however make me understand him and the hard position he was put in. He was left in a terrible position and in his panic did not make the right choices to make things better. He did however try to make them as right as he could after the situation. It doesn’t erase them but I think he deserves to move on. If Talia can forgive and understand him then so I can I.
Desie, Michael and Benny were amazing. They had a history and loved each other so much. The way Seth just fit with them was perfect. They were stuck in a hard position and needed to find their missing piece. Desie is amazing and while she’s not quite as loud and blunt as Talia I can see the similarities with them.
Seth wants them all to be his pack but he doesn’t think he deserves them. Desie did such an amazing job helping him through his issues.
I’m interested to see how things with the bad guys will unravel. Avanne does an amazing job keeping us guessing and trying to figure things out.
Desi just wants to be with/bond with Michael and Ben. Unfortunately, the council states there needs to be THREE alphas to form a pack. Time is running out and they're afraid Desi will be forced to be stuck with a pack she doesn't want and be separated from her true mates!
Enter Seth (he was in the Beta series). He arrives in town and randomly ends up stepping in, only to find that he can fit into their group! Of course it's not that easy as an awful pack has their sights on Desi and Seth has his own demons to work through.
Cliffhanger!
I'll be honest - so far I liked "Beta" better BUT I've seen other reviews state that book 2 in this series is really good! I have high hopes so I'm looking forward to it!
I'm also curious if any additional members will be added to the pack. In the Beta series, Talia ended up with SO many people and Avanne did an amazing job being able to adequately portray each personality (not an easy job!!)
I wasn't sure if I could like Seth since he wasn't a great guy in Beta but I'm loving him so far.
This book comes with a very personal stories for one of my favorite people. And for some reason that always hits my heart stronger with books. Knowing that something really happened or knowing the true inspiration behind a book or series makes things so much deeper for me.
The boys, Benny and Michael are a freakin amazing set of twins. Their hearts are locked and set on Desie. Desie has no idea how to make things work for not only herself but family at the same time. She knows the rules and while she WANTS to break them and be with the boys, she knows she can’t and it’s devastating. My heart breaks for this group. But when HE comes in 🥵🤌🏼💋 I won’t lie I nearly jumped and screamed at the top of my lungs seeing HIS description and then his name confirming it in chapter 7. 😩😩😍😍 I stared at his name for a good 10 minutes 🥺🥺🥺 (YES I’m trying not to give spoilers right now 🤣)
This book is book 1 of the Alpha and I am sooooo eager for book 2 it’s not even funny.
OK AVANNE IS MY BOO!! She knows I love her!! I had the absolute pleasure of getting to read this book and let me tell you it does not disappoint! Desi is a strong FMC who has her whole life planned out be a nurse get married to Ben and Michael have babies and live happily ever after. Well that is if a stupid rule didn’t stand I her way. Pack rules state you must be a triad in order to claim your omega but 1 night changed the fate of their happily ever after when they lost Rafe.
Desi now has the unfortunate choice to now find a new triad but Ben and Michael aren’t going down without a fight. During a party a tall eye patch wearing red headed ALPHA walks and and helps the boys buy some time to find their 3rd. What happens when feelings start to get involved or when other Alpha’s get involved? Well I guess you’re just gonna have to read it to find out!! 😏
I was excited to see the continuation of this Eastverse world! Michaels presents us with a story that continues the bigger social problems that were faced in The Beta. While this is written in the shared world, these alpha’s and omega are NOT like The Beta. They have their own unique story and of course, their own unique problems and drama. Reading about Desir’ee, Ben and Michael was both a sweet and throw your hands up in despair rollercoaster. I can I just say there was A LOT of cheering going on when the 3rd potential Alpha was introduced. Be warned, there is a cliffy, but I can’t wait to read the next installment. I know their story is just going to get better and better!
In this wonderful ride we are introduced to the west side of the world but there is one person Seth you will recognize from the Beta series. He meets Desie, Benny, and Michael at an Omega mixer when he can tell how uncomfortable she is and he steps in to help the twins save her. They form a temporary pact to help make them appear as a pack to get other packs to lay off pursuing Desie. Seth has a lot of issues that prevent him from being able to be a functioning member of a pack but Desie and the guys are trying hard to help him work through it. That is until information comes to light that they don’t let Seth explain and they assume the worst. Then Desie, Michael, and Benny are taken and now Seth is going to have to work through his issues to get his pack back.
My first thought is Benny and Michael can suck it. If they wouldn’t have dragged their feet, so much could have been avoided. They are in so deep and it is all going to come back on Desie. This book was instantly interesting. I was sucked in from the very beginning and at only 25% in, I’m becoming obsessed with Seth freaking Pratchett! What is happening to me? I love the alpha smack down he put on Elijah Lopez. It locked me in. I was so anxious while reading this book waiting to see what the Flores pack was going to pull. I have to add that the spice is 5/5! There is one scene that has absolutely fueled my fantasy daydreaming for weeks. Avanne Michaels is a complete villain for that cliffhanger ending though. I highly, definitely, and adamantly recommend this book right now!
I was so excited reading the Beta part 3 to see that Avanne was writing the Alpha. This had me on a full blown emotional roller coater. Avanne Michaels really hit it out of the park with the Beta but The Alpha is out of this world.
I am in love with Desie ambition to not let her designation define her as an Omega. Ben and Michael have been Desie's choice pack for years but the council says she needs a third alpha to make a pack. Ben and Michael's elicit dealings may hinder their pack but with the help of the "third" they just might succeed.
Don't plan on being able to put this book down once you start. 10/10 Recommend!
The Alpha Part One by Avanne Michaels is the fourth book in The Beta Series. We meet Desie, an Omega, who has to pick a pack now, right before her heat hits. She's been in love with Ben and Michael her whole life. But, they need a third Alpha to be a pack. And Desie can't mate with them until they find their third. In walks someone - not naming who it is! - and hopefully he can be their third. But there is so much trauma for this person and is having a hard time. This is a story of redemption. Love. Heartache. I was so happy to see this Alpha get his redemption and do right in this world. Ends on a cliff hanger. I need book two asap!
Avanne Michaels has done it again—I’m pulled into a series that is going to take over my life!
Ever since reading this snippet of this one in the back of The Beta part 3, I was basically salivating to sink my teeth in. Lucky for me, I got to read it in February and when I tell you I flew through this book so fast…I loved it. The guys are great, Desi is an awesome sweetheart, and the return of you-know-who really worked for me. I’m rooting for him. And them as a pack. And with that ending? I cannot waaaaait for part 2!
Overall, The Alpha was the perfect start to a new series in the same world as The Beta, and I am already head over heels.
So when I read The Beta, I had the pleasure of all three books having already come out and I could immediately read the next one. I DON'T HAVE THAT PLEASURE NOW AND NOW I WILL LOSE SLEEP OVER THIS! *collective sigh* it's fine. it's fine. But I desperately need book two!!!! I loved every moment of book one. I love how Avanne works through trauma and loss with her characters and it's been amazing to see key characters from The Beta return. You immediately get caught up in the anxiety with Ben, Michael, and Desie and the story has you hooked from page one. Don't miss this!
I wasnt really sure that this Alpha was redeemable. If you've read the Beta and know the struggle of what Talia went through and how he had a direct part in her pain, you get what I'm saying. All that being said, his struggle is so real. His pain and honest regret are real. The way Desie has to coax and slowly help him through everything made me a believer in his redemption. Ben and Michael are awesome packmates as well and they take care of Desie with such devotion. After that tumultuous ending, I can't wait to see what comes next
OMG!!!! I love this book, along with the other 3 (The Beta parts 1, 2, 3). Avanne has built a new book by bringing some characters from her previous books. Seth is back and he’s come a long way. When you first meet Desie you think she is flooffy, but she is not flooffy. She is kind and loving but has a backbone of steel. Benny and Michael need her (to keep them out of trouble) desperately. You will enjoy this book immensely. It is a sweet omegaverse with the usual knotting and loving. Oh, by the way this is a big cliffhanger and I’m on pins and needles for the next book!
If you thought Seth was irredeemable in The Beta…think again! My mouth absolutely dropped when he entered this storyline. He now works closely with Talia’s pack, which has helped him get into therapy to heal. I can’t help but love him in this one even though he is still pretty damaged from everything. I want to hug him forever and hide him away. Loved the FMC, Desie, and her twin alphas that need to hurry and make a pack to claim her. I just loved everything about this story. That cliffhanger is a nail biter though so I am waiting anxiously for book 2!
This book is a masterpiece! The author allowed me to be a beta reader and it's only happiness, Desire the FMC is an incredible character, both empathetic but courageous. The twins are both very endearing and their love for Desirer commands respect. Finally Seth is my favourite character at the moment, broken but so endearing and dedicated to this new pack. The fact that we're seeing the old characters from the beta is great too. Finally, I'd like to mention Desirer's brother, who seems incredible and very endearing. I hope they'll stay that way.
I was thinking as I read through the Beta series for the 201532 time that the Alpha would be about Jamison and his pack finding their omega but Avanne took us all out in left field. And we are finally about to see WTH is happening on the West Coast! Ohhhhh the twists and turns. I’m so sad for Seth but still happy that Talia’s pack has stood beside him throughout all his issues and continued to be a support system. Starting Alpha part 2 now, so just chill out and read Alpha Part 1… I’ll be back to gush in a couple hours! 😆
I loved the beta series and was really excited to read this new book by Avanne and I was not disappointed!!!
This new Omegaverse book had everything I could have wanted and more! I really enjoyed how the pack isn’t already fully built and you’re kind of getting to go along with Desie and her alphas as they look for a third alpha. Although this is only the first book and there’s more to follow I’m already really enjoying the premises of this story and can’t wait to see what happens next.
I was so excited to find out that this is a continuation of the Beta trilogy. This is Seth, Desiree, Benny, and Michaels story. From the first to the last page is so good. I felt sorry for Seth towards the end of the Beta trilogy, but now I absolutely love him. It is going to be so hard to wait for the next book. The cliffhanger was one of the worst. My first time with this author, and I am so glad I did. I highly recommend this series
I’ll be honest, I had my doubts bcs of Seth *fucking* Pratchett but oh, it was so good. It’s handled so well and we see what he did will probably haunt him forever and it should be so. But he’s not a pathetic piece of crap anymore and with amazing role models to refer to, he can do and be better. We can feel how caring and nurturing he is for his pack. Things his dad and old pack almost destroyed in him.
Wtf was that ending?! Talk about a major cliffhanger. This was soooo good! I didn’t even realize I was on the last chapter until I turned that page to realize there weren’t any more to read. I will be starting book to IMMEDIATELY. I absolutely loved the original series that came before this so I was hesitant thinking this wouldn’t hold up to my expectations but it definitely has.
I had a hard time mentally beginning this book, firstly I wasn’t really sure I wanted to read about Seth's HEA. I understood where he was coming from but never really forgave his actions in The Beta. Secondly, the first 30% is very angsty. This book hurts my heart in ways, but also give hope in other ways. I am so excited to read the rest of the series. The plot is awesome, I am loving the characters, spice is 🔥
