While both Soraya and Koen are cute as heck together, two introvert loners finding their way together after an accidental meeting in the woods--and, of course, the whole "Koen is a demon" thing--I ultimately found the writing of this book to be...well, a bit cringe.
I can't count the number of times that Koen makes references to his cock/dick or calls Soraya 'baby' in practically every sentence. That got annoying.
As for Soraya, her character was fine, just that I didn't buy that she'd be that famous, with 11 books under her wing at only 22. If she couldn't write even one book in almost a year, how am I supposed to believe that she got 11 done already at such a young age?
Ultimately, it's a rather wishy-washy plot with a lot of references to Koen's anatomy, so while the romance was sweet in its way and I could support the two being together because they did match just right, I would've changed a lot of details about the writing/backgrounds before actually buying into this.

This time we have a demon and a paranormal romance author and they figure things out pretty quickly. And by that I mean they pretty much jump into the sexy times because OH YEAH.
Seriously, though, Soraya isn't bothered by Koen's horns or funky eyes. In fact, she kind of likes both. A lot. As for Koen, he's pretty much smitten with the lovely author from the moment she stumbled into his fishing hole. Which is not a euphemism for anything. He was fishing. She showed up. THINGS HAPPENED.

As a bonus, they had to deal with Soraya's agent and the things she'll do to ensure Soraya's next book is a hit. Plus, there's the whole demon thing. Not the Koen-demon thing. The other demon thing.

Felt like coming home. I am loving this second season of Screaming Woods. Koen is a demon with a big heart. I love that Soraya was a romance writer.

Was lucky enough to get a ARC of this book and I’m so thankful ! This book was sooooo good !
Koen the grump fell hard for his mate *swoon*. I love how he gets all grumpy with everyone but her.
Soraya is an author and so happens to accidentally ??? Write books with some truths in it.
(Wondering if other monsters found love due to her new book series and her moving to Screaming Woods..?!)

Meh - another "let's go to this strangers house and have sex almost the moment we met" book, which wasn't surprising when I realized that this was one half of the valkryie book that I didn't like.

This is an OK paranormal romance, but I did have a few issues with it. It gets 2.5 stars from me, rounded up to 3 stars.
First, it was too short to have as much character development as I like. I would have liked a little more backstory on both Koen and Soraya.
I also felt like the couple was more in lust than in love. They were definitely in lust, but they just didn't have enough in common to be in love so quickly. It made sense that they would be attracted to each other, but it still seemed like their relationship was mostly about lust.
Finally, there was a lot of sex in this story. I enjoy romantic sex scenes -- but these were pretty explicit, with a lot of dirty talk. I just didn't find them romantic at all.
My rating system is below.
1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it.
2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws.
3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating.
4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one.
5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.

I am so excited to be back in Screaming Woods with a second set of books!
There are just so many 'monsters' who need to find their special partner to show them that there is still so much more to life than living afraid of what others will think of them.
HOWEVER...
With that being said.
I liked Soraya and Koen's story. I really enjoyed the idea of a paranormal author going to Screaming Woods in the hope that it would spark some inspiration and help her to move past this writer's block.
Koen prefers his solitude. Things are just easier with a fishing pole in hand and nothing but the sounds of nature surrounding him.
My biggest annoyance with this story...
I really wish the author would've kept this as strictly the human and monster's that live in Screaming Woods. Instead she brought in other outside paranormal beings to tie in with her other series. While I love a good paranormal romance and more specifically this author's paranormal stories, I really liked the idea of these stories being humans that were turned on accident from an eclectic scientists' potion.

Soraya is a paranormal romance writer. With a dooming deadline handing over head, she is suffering from writers block. She heard that there is a town with actual monsters living there. So she decides to rent a cabin in Screaming Woods. Imagine her surprise when she discovers that the rumors are true! I had so much fun reading about Soraya and Koen. I had my worries since Soraya is a paranormal romance writer and I was worried that he would feel like she was using him for her books but I should've known better since it's Rochelle Paige's book.
Koen had always been a loner, so his decision to attend a Halloween party was out of character to him. The party changed his life and made him even more recluse after becoming a demon. Soraya wants to write a new book series about witches, but she's having a writer's block. This makes her visit Screaming Woods where she meets Koen.
All in all I adored this romance. Koen not wanting to leave Soraya's side when usually he tried to avoid people was so sweet and I loved how quickly Soraya accepted him. Demon's Own gave us a grumpy/ sunshine trope on top for the demon romance, so I was all for it.

What a fun read! I love Soraya & Koen! I was curious about them from their mentions in Valkyrie's Choice, and happy to read their story! We get to see more of our Season 1 gals, as well. 😁
Soraya & Koen bring the sweet and the heat, especially between the... well, you know how it goes! We also get a surprise visit from a character whose book - when we get it - I've been anticipating for a while! He's gonna bring some 🔥, too! 😉🤣🥰

This book is a part of the Monster Between the Sheets Season 2 series and focuses on Koen and Soraya. Soraya is a paranormal romance writer who is suffering from a severe case of writer's block. She decides to go to Screaming Woods for a change in location and to find some inspiration, what she doesn’t expect to find is her soulmate when she meets Koen. Koen was turned into a demon when the town had their unfortunate incident 20 years prior and he was known for being generally pretty grouchy. When he sets his sights on Soraya he immediately feels the connection between them and wastes no time getting his woman. This was a great, quick read and a great addition to the series.

Okay, I'm back on my bullshit bc there's a season 2 of this series and we're starting off with a romance author named Soraya who's getting away for some writing inspiration and grumpy, isolated demon Koen who just wants to be left to his own vices.
They met at 25% bc she lost her way back to her cabin in the woods she's renting and he was fishing in a waterfall and she said like 2 lines about seeing Koi fish in a pond at a zoo and he was like "wow u have a way w words" and now he's walking her back to her cabin.
He also found her so attractive than his man bits "punched" his zipper. sounds painful.
38% He walked her back, they said like 12 words to each other and now they are making out on the porch so. there's that.
39% - "while my cock was trying to punch through my zipper" again? bro see a doctor.
40% - "something about your sunshine personality makes it impossible to be a grouch towards you" - "I think that's the sweetest thing anyone has ever said to me" really? that's it? that's the sweetest thing? cmon.

I enjoyed this book so much!!!! Soraya and Koen surprised in the best way. I was worried with Soraya being a paranormal romance writer that it would seem like she was using him for her books, but it was not like that at all. They proved that you can't fight fate!! There was some definite spice that I was all about!!!

I was excited to dive into this read as I am in love with Screaming Woods and Rochelle is one of my favourite author. From the beginning I was engrossed in the read and had to finish it in a single sitting. It was too easy to fall in love with Soraya and Koen. They deserve each other and there chemistry is sizzling. The bond they share is special and I did a happy dance of my own when they get together. Can't wait to dive into yet another Monster Romance.

I love revisiting Screaming Woods & old friends. I'm happy Soraya got lost in the woods & found Koen. Koen was a terrible grump until he met Soraya & then he became sweet as sugar. Soraya is lovely & smart & looking for inspiration for her next book series, which is why she rented a cabin near Screaming Woods. She finds everything she ever dreamed of & more.
The sexy stuff in this book was a bit overwhelming (to me), I skipped over it. I wanted more story, more details about their lives, and more about Screaming Woods. Oh well, maybe in the next book.

Believe this is the first book I read by author a d will not be last.
The Demon mate was the stronger depth character which surprised me. Since the human was an paranormal romance writer. Thought the author would have went in more depth with her.
Enjoyed surprise appearance by an "other late in book" that helped with some unknown info.
Only thing I am puzzled by is why there are not a sub plit of wacky humans going to doctor to get some cocktail. Since there are some wannabe humans out there that want to shift, etc. Would expect groupies as well

How the demon gets his girl! Soraya and Koen meet by chance but are instantly drawn to eachother. It's a cute story with easy-to-like characters. This novella wasn't complicated and was beautiful because it's so simple. Demon meets girl, girl, and demon fall in love, it's beautiful, simple, and uncomplicated. There is a little tension thrown in from outside forces and some hot intimate scenes, but overall, it was a fun, fast read with interesting characters.

I loved this story. I liked that when he found her, he quit being so grumpy! Her creativity blossomed when she met him. I liked that she saw him, beyond the eyes and horns, and was totally smitten. I loved this story. I liked that when he found her, he quit being so grumpy! Her creativity blossomed when she met him. I liked that she saw him, beyond the eyes and horns, and was totally smitten. Grumpy Meets His Match
I just knew Koen would get hit by the love bug next! He was so grumpy he was bound to fall hard and fast. I liked Soroya for him because she brought it the devoted dirty talking demon in the best way. Their book was way hot and I was surprised it took them so long for that little kernel of news at the end.

Absolutely love being back in Screaming Woods!!! I just love this grumpy/sunshine couple. Koen is the perfect grump - unless he’s with his one and only Soraya. And Soraya couldn’t be more upbeat and positive - the perfect sunshine to Koen’s grump. So good!! Love this series.

I loved Soraya and Koen! She was a writer with a looming deadline. Koen was a grumpy demon who falls for Soraya right away. These two start to form a connection that gets put into the public eye due to her agent. I love the mystery guest we get at the end of the story and can't wait to see if we get more about The Abyss. Great add to this series based in Screaming Woods.

Well written story and well developed characters! Welcome back to Screaming Woods. The town where most of the residents were turned into monsters at a Halloween party! Koen was turned into a Demon, complete with horns that are always on top of his head! So he has become very solitary. Until a woman invades his privacy!

I loved Koen and Soraya. She visited Screaming Woods to write her next romance novel and get inspiration but found more than she bargained for in Koen. I loved how sweet he was with her. Great short read!

I loved this story. The banter, wit, and charisma of the characters was so enjoyable throughout! I think this might be like top two of the entire monster series.

I am so happy to head back to Screaming Woods and the amazing characters who live there. Koen and Soraya literally light up the pages, and you will absolutely love their perfect story. I'm so excited y'all are giving us a 2.0 to this incredible series.

Soraya meets Koen when she's having trouble writing her next paranormal romance novel, but being with him and in Screaming Woods is just the inspiration she needs. They're into each other right away but will Koen be able to deal with her stardom and everyone that goes with that? 4 stars
