I was extremely excited when I saw this debut!!! It was as if it was calling my name! I couldn’t wait to read it!!!!!
12 y.o. Alana was happily living with her mother when one day the King arrived and announced she was his heir and had to continue her life with him and his royal family. It was very abrupt how easily Alana left her mother as to follow the King. I expected some drama, denial, demand of explanations, but almost nothing happened. She simply walked away from her mother and best friend Adrian as to be the next Queen of the Kingdom. While I am not an expert in historical fantasy stories, is it this easy that the king brings in his illegitimate daughter as to be his heir?? The King was married and his legitimate daughter was only 5 months younger than Alana. Why did he decide to claim Alana after 12 years, saying he needed to raise her to become the queen his kingdom needed?
Alana, never went back to see her mother nor her best friend Adrian for the next 10 years, as to find out what had become of them. Her excuses for not visiting them were poor. I think there should have been a chapter, even a short summary, so that I was aware of what had happened over that period of 10 years.
When the time came for her to be married, she was introduced to her future husband Prince Darien and his personal guard Alden. But, she was attracted to both Darien and Alden. While she wanted to kiss Darien for a second time, she was scanning the room, looking anxiously for Alden.
That was the limit where I had enough. Maybe later it got greater but my interest was lost...
There was nothing in her personality or behaviour to attract me up to that point. I found her selfish and immature. The plot looked very promising, with intrigue, turns and twists, but I couldn’t continue reading. Also, this was a historical fantasy story, yet there were some expressions that didn’t fit in. For example, fuck, blow my top, playing dress up, no fucking idea, morons.
I really wanted to love it but it didn’t work for me. 🥺
I was lucky enough to be gifted an ARC copy of this book and I feel so proud that i get to be one of the first to have gotten to read it! There’s romance, adventure, mystery, family, fantasy and dark themes so this genuinely has it all. It was a welcome change to the genre of books I’ve been reading lately and it was nice to get sucked into such a beautiful world.
The story itself was so well done. The pacing is perfect especially if you like your books to keep you interested with every page. I read this book in large chunks because reading a couple pages at a time just won’t cut it. I couldn’t put it down! The action begins almost immediately in chapter one and there’s constant progression in every chapter. There wasn’t a time I felt bored or like the story was slow. I feel like everything was necessary for the growth of the characters and plot and I love that I never felt like i was reading filler. The book may be 450 pages but it felt shorter than that! How the necklace ties everything together was my fave!
I loved the writing style, too! It felt like you could really see the thought processes of Alana as she navigates her life turning upside down and I loved that I could easily step in her shoes. It’s descriptive but not too descriptive. Everything felt so well balanced. A lot of fantasy feels very juvenile and YA grade to me but this was not that at all.
The characters are wonderful. Alana is such an amazing main character and I truly felt a kinship with her. She experiences grief, ptsd, trauma, betrayal, and love that felt so real to me. You get to experience her inner turmoil and I’m a sucker for some angst. She was a strong main character that also experienced pain and I love that those two traits can easily coexist here. Alden was everything you’d want in a leading man. His story had me speechless, truly such a great partner for Alana and added so much to the book. Darien’s development was so well written. The dynamic between Alana and her sister was so fun to figure out how it would end and the relationship with the stepmother was so relatable. I loved her father, Meredith, and Briar too. It’s been a while since i’ve read a book where all the characters felt so fleshed out and real like this. I got so attached to everyone in the story and I love that I was able to connect with them so strongly. I wish I could say more but I don’t want to spoil! Just know the character development was top tier all around!
This was such a fun and addicting read and I highly recommend everyone that even remotely sounds intrigued to pick it up. Coming from someone that is usually fairly critical with books, the only thing negative I have to say is that the book ended. I am so glad I paused my tbr to read this immediately and I think everyone should do the same when it releases!
This is definitely a 4.5, rounding up to 5 because I just enjoyed it so much!
Thank you so much, Amber Paige, for selecting me to be part of the ARC team.
We follow the strong, brave and utterly stubborn Alana. Raised by her mother as a farm girl and later taken to the castle by her father, the king of Altana. This book perfectly combines fantasy, romance, politics and adventure.
The characters are astonishingly written. My utmost respect for Alana, her journey throughout the book was emotional and fun to read. Aldan is everything you look for in a man, protective and loving. My heart broke for Meredith, but I'm glad that Briar came into view. I loved reading about Alana's and Briar's friendship and the snippets of moments of Briar and a certain someone😏 I've had mixed feelings about Darien, Eva and Celeste. They certainly had me surprised, though I did had my suspicions.
The plot, the world-building and the storylines were incredible and it has been a while since I felt this strong for a book. I strongly recommend this book to anyone who wants to swoon away in a royal fantasy romance.
I absolutely loved this book! Alana is a strong FMC. She’s loyal, stubborn, and funny. I mean, who doesn’t love a princess that can wield a dagger? She’s experiencing romance for the first time, working through family issues, all while someone is trying to kill her! The characters are wonderful, you care about them right away. The story is fast-paced and the twists keep you guessing. Last but not least, Alden. ALDEN! Hero type you just love to love. The banter between him and Alana is everything. All the stars! But this book!
This was such an amazing book! The FMC was badass. She had so much strength, courage and love. All of the characters were written well and there was a lot of character development. I found it wasn't a typical royal fantasy which made me like it even more. Alan was destined to be queen and she took on the role with her heart. This was what she wanted. Go read this book!
Great story...full of adventure, romance, and mystery! I really enjoyed all the twists and turns. No spoilers, but I recommend this book!!! Story 4 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice🌶1/2
Eekkkk!! This was one of my most anticipated reads of the year and it did not disappoint. Thank you again to Amber for sending me an ARC copy of this one, and letting me be one of the first to read this beautiful story! 🤗
I went into this expecting it to be a cute royal romance between a princess and a bodyguard, but that does not even begin to describe the depths of what this book actually was. It was so much more than that! The plot, the side characters, the mystery, and yes the romance, is what kept me on the edge of my seat.
This shocked me SO many times. The twist and turns and the mystery had me questioning everything and everyone. I trusted NO ONE! I even half convinced myself at one point that Alana the narrator herself couldn't be trusted (and I mean c'mon that was probably a little farfetched 😅). I was nervous throughout most of this waiting for things to happen, and when I finally let down my guard and take a breath, SOMETHING CRAZY WOULD HAPPEN. This was just one wild rollercoaster ride until the bitter end.
Okay but now we must talk about our leading lady, Princess Alana 👑. She was fierce, yet also incredibly kind. I loved being inside her head. This girl really went through the ringer though! Like my god she could not catch a break. However, her strength and perseverance through our all of it was so admirable, and a joy to read about.
Now Alden 🗡️. WHO BOY 🥵. I forgot how hot bodyguard's in romance books could be. Sprinkle in the fact that it was extra secretive because he wasn't even her personal bodyguard, made it extra hot. The TENSION when they were in the room together, piled on with the fact that Alden was such a flirt, and so innately protective over Alana made the chemistry off the charts. I was down for the cause the moment he popped into the picture.
I really do believe going into this one as blind as possible is the way to go. Not knowing what to expect will certainly keep you on your toes! I thought I knew what I was getting myself into, but it exceeded all my expectations.
I cannot wait to read more from Amber in the future! 💙
Please, please, PLEASE everyone go read this book, you will not be disappointed!! 🤗
✨BOOK REVIEW (ARC)✨- Symbol Of Hope by Amber Paige
This was a super cute story. It’s like a medieval Princess Diaries (book version). The movie version was a totally different vibe. Prepare yourself for some heartbreaking moments. Congratulations Ms. Paige on your debut novel. Also, the FMC is quite stabby and knows how to use a sword and daggers. She’s always strapped.

Words cannot express my rage over having read this book. *Warning: Spoilers*
This book is terrible. Just.. bad. The author had a cool concept and if they had sat on it for 5 more years, pulling it apart and putting it back together, they could have made something amazing. But it fell so short.
The MC is a woman who was pulled from her childhood home to go live as a Princess with her father, the queen (her *evil* stepmother), and a half-sister who hates her. MC leaves behind her own mother and a young boy who she develops feelings for right as she's snatched away. He also gives her a fancy necklace right as she leaves. Will it have magic powers to help her?? No.
She turns 22 and has a birthday party (but she just HATES parties and boohoo, find something new to make a character interesting.) But suddenly she's dancing with a handsome man and starts developing feelings. AND THEN IS ATTACKED.
I don't want to keep going. Point is, shocker, she's saved, she gets engaged but realizes she likes the man's bodyguard. She has begun taking on the kingdom responsibilities because someone is poisoning the king! Also, the guards in this book suck?? She and the king almost die constantly because the guards are never around, and her nursemaid does get killed in a public area. Like??
The author frequently uses the term "nuzzles" and it make me want to hurl. The MC "nuzzles" into so many characters, including her own father??? To me, nuzzling is a very intimate action that usually involves necks and eventually *the deed.* Not something you do to your dad??
The MC does a "tour of her kingdom" that was only supposed be for a week. To visit three towns. With 4 guards. Are you asking to be murdered??? Where's all your stuff?? If this is a political visit, you can't show up in whatever and rule?? She overthrows the leader in one village after a few hours and puts in a new one and then just leaves.... like that isn't going to cause issues. The next village tries to kill her and the last one is empty due to a plague. How tiny is this kingdom??? Where are all the people???
I just... ugh. I constantly groaned throughout the book. The MC was unlikeable, the love interests boring, and the climate/conflict lame.
I don't recommend.
(DON'T GET ME STARTED ON HOW THE BALLS ARE LIKE CLUBBING AND THERE'S TWERKING)
Amber BLEW me out of the water with her debut novel! This book took me for a RIDE with its twists and turns of love, mystery, self-discovery, family drama, and HOPE🥹
Alana is your average 12 year old village girl with an inseparable best friend and an amazing mother. One day the king storms into town demanding Alana is his daughter and he must take her to live with him to start preparing her since she is next in line to the throne. She does not leave without a fight but her best friend gives her a necklace saying he will come for her one day and to look at the necklace as a reminder of hope. Fast forward 10 years later and Alana has lost pretty much all hope and is instead preparing to become Queen one day while looking for a suitable husband. Not everyone in the kingdom is happy with her succession to the throne so there’s now her life in danger, a handsome suitor, and an even more mysterious body guard. Sprinkle in a jealous half-sister and mean step-mother and this Cinderella-esque mystery will have you on the edge of your seat!
You will gasp, become a detective, laugh, worry, and SWOON at this rollercoaster of a story! Buckle up and enjoy!

A Symbol of Hope is the debut novel by Amber Paige. It’s a story of finding your inner strength, trust, love, and betrayal. At the age of 12, Alana is taken from the only life she’s ever known, her mother, and her best friend and is whisked away to a new life as the future queen. During this time, she finds love and truth in her father and her lady’s maid despite the actions of her stepmother and stepsister. At her 22nd birthday, she is attacked and rescued by a handsome Prince who isn’t quite what he appears. When person after person starts to die around her, Alana starts to panic. Her dreams are also trying to warn her against someone, but the “who” remains a mystery.
Tbh, this was a fun read, albeit a little predictable. I figured out the answers about halfway through but it didn’t take away from the story. I love me a good “he falls first” mixed with “second chance romance” that ends with a happily ever after. I can’t wait to read Alden’s book! I loved them together so much.
There are a couple of spicier scenes, but they’re not descriptive and are easily skipped over. I’d say 🌶️/5.
*Could be spoilers!* It took me so long to read this, not on purpose. I’m obsessed! I loved this concept!
Alana and Alden are a dream let me tell you. This man is the right level of obsessed you would want. (PS the candle we got in the package 😩 to die for) I knew there was something up with Alden from their first interaction and the outcome of that suspiciousness was insane.
*Spoilers* Listen I had a suspicion that Darien was going to be a bad guy and I was correct. Like no guy has ever acted like he did in the beginning, although I didn’t suspect him being the one that stabs her in the garden. At first, for like a split second, was thinking it was going to be Adrian coming back mad at the life she was living while he was back home. Or something like that.
I was so happy when Brair didn’t turn out to be a traitor like everyone else around her. Honestly a breath of fresh air for me and Alana😂 ugh that poor girl. Every time the water was finally calm the universe was like “absolutely not” and you turn the page and there’s another tragedy.
I was feeling all types of emotions while reading and I honestly wish I could’ve sat down and read this in one sitting, I feel like the story would have been 10x better than it already was. I was struggling with my reading this month and was so glad it didn’t ruin the story for me. Spice could’ve been better but I’m not complaining.
Plot: 12/10. Spicy: 2/5.
I will 100% recommend this to everyone! Thank you so much Amber for the ARC copy!

2.5 Things I loved 1. I loved the chemistry between the main characters. The romance and yearning were palpable. 2. The writing got better in about 10% of the book, and parts of the book were very engrossing.
Things that did not work for me 1. Having said that, I don't think this book was for me at all. I only liked the last 20% of the book. 2. And I think I am in the small group of people who did not like the main female character and the decisions she made. Some of the actions felt childish and rude. 3. And the reasons given by the characters for their actions felt easy, self-serving, and out of context.
I received an ARC of this book in return for an honest review.
2⭐️ Symbol of Hope was the debut novel from Amber Paige; it was a promising start to her career as an author and with some finessing, she’s definitely an author to watch. SoH was almost a mash up of classic fairy tale tropes; secret princess, evil stepmother, evil stepsister, handsome prince, handsome bodyguard, childhood sweetheart. Personally, I think less May have been more in this case as there was a lot crammed in, and I would have preferred more detail. The descriptions of scenery etc were good but the descriptions of feelings and and motives could have been more developed. The dialogue was often stilted and didn’t match with the description.
The main niggle I had was the terminology used to describe family members. Eva is described throughout as Alana’s stepsister, however from what I could gather, they share a Father so should be half-sisters.
I give this one three stars. The beginning was really good but then it felt like it got dragged out way too long. Once we reached finding out who killed her father and who was trying to kill her, it was all very rushed and the story ended quickly. Overall I just wish I would have gotten more out of this story.

Genres: Fantasy, Romance, Romance Fantasy Tropes: Strong/Sassy FMC Protective MMC Slow-Burn romance Destined Love Content Warning from the author: Open door scenes, instances of death, violence, PTSD, and anxiety. My rating: Although it says four stars I desperately want to give it 4.5 and wish Goodreads would allow it! About the book from Goodreads: I didn’t know my true identity until I was twelve. My Take of the book: I want to start this by saying I am an avid reader, reading about three to five books a week so my perception may not be what the average is. Every character was well developed in my opinion and I could see what they looked looked like and feel their pain and even their joy in their brief moments of it. The plot was great and while I will admit I kept waiting for it to be a retelling of a Cinderella story I was pleasantly surprised that the FMC never stepped into that role and this was a very different story indeed. The one and only reason this book did not get five stars from me is probably attributed to my reading so much and that is for me it was predicable. I had the plot figured out by about a quarter of the way into the book. I want to be clear that it didn't make it less enjoyable and this simply because of the great writing, only that I knew what was coming. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a fast and easy read with a strong FMC lead and not a lot of smut. This book did have some spice to it but not in an overwhelming way nor did it overpower the story which I appreciate. Amber did a beautiful job on her debut novel and I can't wait for next one!
I would like to begin by thanking the author for the e-ARC opportunity in exchange for an honest review of the book.
My actual rating is much closer to somewhere between a 4.25- 4.5.
Reading this felt like stepping into a nostalgic fairytale from childhood. It was the kind of feeling you would get when you used to fantasize about being a long lost princess of a kingdom. I had an amazing time with this story. It's one full of longing, self-discovery, handling grief, duty, regrets, destiny and family.
The main character Alana was taken at a young age away from her mother and thrust into a world of politics at young age for the sole purpose of being trained to be heir to the kingdom. That's a lot of responsibility as well as change for such a young malleable mind and I commend Alana for taking it all in stride. Her current life may not be one she envisioned for herself nor what she would have wanted, but she soon realizes that she is what the kingdom truly needs. I think one of my favorite things about her character is her struggle with panic attacks, anxiety and insecurity. Despite every single obstacle in her path, she pushes forward for a chance at building a better world. As a less important side note, let me tell you that Alana was such a mood when it came to Alden. I would be checking him out and fantasizing about him too lol.
Alden was such a supportive, flirtatious, and sweet MMC. He was never intimidated by Alana , nor did he at any time attempt to dim her brightness to feed his own insecurities. Rather, Alden absolutely lived for the moments in which Alana stepped into her power and was certainly a fan of her ability to exude royalty and fight if she had to.
The romantic development was great . I feel like this particular relationship is mainly about the little things. The prolonged eye contact, the comforting presence, silent support, the forbidden touches, the easy conversations, and so much more define the relationship between Alana and Alden. They were so precious and I adored them individually as well as together. Their banter was funny and their vulnerable moments were so swoon. Their dynamic was really nice overall.
In summary, I absolutely adored this and I highly recommend this to fans of romantic fantasy. This is full of adventure, mystery, stakes, and most importantly it's a narrative about different kinds of love.
“Follow your heart. For once, I listen. I stand on my tippy toes and lean closer. ‘Alana, no.’ His whisper dances on my lips. I brush against him, touching but not quite making contact.”
“His hands find their way to the back of my hair. With gentle need, he closes the distance, and our lips meet. And I become undone.”
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 (4.5) 🌶️🌶️
✨Symbol of Hope is Amber Paige's debut romance novel and releases today! This storyline has mystery, darker themes, a slow burn and swoon worthy romance, character development, angst, tension, and all the fun and flirtatious witty banter that I love in a novel.
I really enjoyed Amber Paige's writing style in this heartfelt romance about love, duty, and family, and felt drawn to the main female character, Alana as the story unfolds. She is intelligent, fearless, despite her past experiences and traumas, skilled in weaponry, and devoted to those whom she loves and her Kingdom.
✨At twelve years old, Alana has lived a quiet yet comfortable life in a small village with her mother, until her father arrives and announces to her that she is the first female heir to Altana. With her identity revealed, Alana was whisked away to her father's castle without hearing from her mother, or her best friend for the next 10 years.
The romance that builds in this story is a forbidden love, and the moments that the two characters steal for themselves, despite the obstacles, left me blushing and breathless. I felt connected to the love interests as their relationship develops and they faced heartbreaking moments together… I held out hope for their devotion to prevail page after page.
✨I would recommend Symbol of Hope to readers of romance and fantasy romance. This swoon worthy title is available today on Kindle Unlimited.
✨My most genuine and sincerest thanks to Amber Paige for having me on your ARC team, and for sharing this beautifully written story with all of us.
Amber, thank you so much for trusting me with an advanced copy. This book is beyond amazing, the intrigue, the suspense, a royal family, politics, death, a haunted forest, assassinations, romance, and at the heart of it all a caring woman who truly wants to make a difference for her people. The type of leaders we need in the real world, but until that happens I will continue reading about them.
While still a child, knowing nothing of her father, Alana is a happy girl. Her and her mother are incredibly close and while they aren’t wealthy, they are truly rich where it matters. (I would be interested in knowing more about her parent’s story and how it all went down.) She has a best friend that she starts to realize she cares for in a different way than she used to. Adrian has been her confidant, companion, protector, playmate and friend. So when she arrives home to the King fighting with her mother and trying to take Alana it’s a shock to both of them. Adrian’s loyalty to her and feelings for her compel him to give her a necklace to symbolize his promise to come find her no matter what. It’s adorable, but they were 12 and yet as the years go by Alana, even though she’s mostly given up hope, continues to wear the necklace to remind her of home. Her father turns out to be a genuine loving and caring father, which makes it easier to acclimate to her new environment. She gains a half sister and stepmother that she’s incredibly excited about, yet it doesn’t take long for jealousy and a thirst for power drives a wedge between them. Prince Darien, well he’s there… but who we really care about is Alden, Darien’s best friend and personal guard. He’s got the mysterious edge, just enough charm to flirt the panties right off of you, and of course the I will end you if you touch her vibes.
I’m so ready for the next book!!! I’m interested to see where the journey will take us next, and just what you have up your sleeves Amber.
This story was absolutely beautiful! The pacing is fast and I devoured it in two days. The world building is absolutely beautiful, and the character development is well done. The story takes you on a journey of self-discovery, adventure, betrayal, lies, secrets and so many twist and turns along the way. Alana is a woman whose life flipped upside down when she was taken away by her father (the king) at only 12 years of age. She lived a normal life in a poor village and on her 12th birthday she found out she was the princess and her entire world changed. Alden is the perfect mix of mysterious and sexy. He will lead to some massive discoveries along this storyline and his character development is probably my favorite. This a fantastic low fantasy novel and I was so happy to disappear into this world for a few days. -Debut Novel - Slow Burn - Royalty - Bodyguard - Adventure, Secrets, Mystery

Review: A new stand alone that will leave you on the edge of you seat! In this debut novel by Amber Paige we travel to Altana where Princess Alana is coming of age and preparing to take the throne.
This book begins with a glimpse into her past and allows us to see hawse came to be the heir to the kingdom. The book is written solely from her POV and depicts her struggles to accept her fate while also fighting to be her own person.
This book is full of twists, turns, deceptions, plots and betrayals that will shock you until the end. At her royal announcement ball, she is attacked by an unknown assailant. This sets off the cascade of events that lead up to her engagement to the Prince from a neighboring kingdom and the beginning of dreams that hint at a prophetic nature.
This book begins as a love triangle between Alana, Briar and Allen but it quickly becomes obvious that Alden and her are tied deeper than she realizes.
The book unfolds many secrets about the kingdom and how it has fallen under the care of the current rulers. I enjoyed how Alana grew into her own person and protector of her realm. I also really enjoyed how she was a fighter and never gave the unknown attacker a lot of worry.
What shocked me the most was Alden’s true identity and how much he deceived Briar. I felt bad that Alana had to experience so many hurts in this book but also really loved the way Amber developed their bonds. While not super spicy, we definitely get chemistry in this book and everything is tied nicely together at the end.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨
Review: A fairytale that pulls you in and doesn’t let go. I was completely swept away by the storytelling and I loved every second of it.
This book is fantasy romance, mystery and coming of age story rolled into one. Alana is a wonderfully flawed young woman, with the weight of the world crashing down on her. The complexity of her situation, being a princess and longing for the life she left behind, was wonderful to read. The setting is beautiful and vivid, and it was so easy to fall into the story and be completely swept away. But, my favorite part of this book is the romance…
This slow burn will drive you insane! The banter between these characters is amazing and the MMC is completely swoon-worthy!!! Honestly, I want a whole book from the MMCs perspective (cough, cough…Amber…please!)
I absolutely recommend this book and I am so grateful to have been a part of its ARC team. It has been such a wonderful experience. This debut is absolutely stunning and has solidified a place on my bookshelf for the rest of Ambers work. ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!
At the age of 12 Alana is taken from her mother by her father, the King of Atlanta. She is a princess and destined to be the queen one day. Reeling with this revelation, she is forced to leave everything she loves, including her best friend, Adrian. As she left, he gifted her with a necklace, vowing one day he would come and rescue her.
Ten years later, she’s accepted her fate despite facing numerous challenges, including her stepsister and mother hating her. But when her life is turned upside down yet again, she struggles with how to go on. Will her world ever stop crumbling?
This book was so cute and full of action. I loved Alana and how much she grew over the course of the book. Her journey was one that was worth sharing. I especially loved how stabby she was! There are, however, a few instances where the narrative slows down, and certain plot points could have been more tightly woven. Nonetheless, the overall storytelling is captivating, and the underlying messages of hope, forgiveness, and personal growth shine through. I really enjoyed Ambers writing style overall and felt her story was polished.
If you are looking for an uplifting story of hope and human connection.
I am so thankful to Amber for sending me not only this amazing book, but a beautiful promo box as well. Amber is one of the kindest, sweetest people I know. I hope you check out her book.
I give this one 4.5 stars rounded to 5 😊 Thanks again @amberpaige_writer for everything – you’re amazing.
Tropes: ~Bodyguard romance ~Badass FMC ~Who did this to you? ~Balls & Royalty ~Adventure/Mystery ~Strong romance with slight spice
I really enjoyed this book!! The world is built very well and you fall in love with the main characters. Alana is our female lead, who is taken from her mother at a young age to find out she is next in line for the throne! She leaves behind her best friend Adrian, who promises to find her, and her mother for a life of luxury and preparing to take the throne. Fast forward to her 22nd birthday, Alana’s evil step-mother and sister don’t make life easy, and an attempt on her life brings in two young men in her life. Prince Darien comes into her life with promises of supporting her as king, but Alana can’t keep her eyes off his bodyguard Alden. You follow the many twists and turns of who is trying to kill Alana, her self-discovery of how she will be a leader one day, and trying to follow her heart by keeping her mind in the present and not thinking of the past.
This story was soo much fun!! The romance built in the story pulls you in, I honestly couldn’t put the book down! I loved how you’re kept guessing throughout the story on who is putting Alana’s life at risk, and who she will end up with. There are a few typos in the book, but they don’t distract from the story at all. The romance is well built and there is a hint of spice that wraps the love story together. Overall I really enjoyed this book and recommend it wholeheartedly on Kindle Unlimited!!
What it’s about: Torn from a home and placed in a castle with a hateful stepmother, Alana has grown up with one expectation. Be the future Queen. She has worked hard to learn the ways of royalty and is willing to do whatever her subjects need of her. And if finding a husband is one of those requirements.. well then, she is willing try going into the venture with an open mind. Not all princes are so bad, but memories of the boy she was forced to leave behind so long ago still plague her heart. Secrets, assassins, and mysterious guards are hiding behind every turn.
Why you will like: Rain storms. Enough said. You will know what I mean when you get to it. 😏 👏🏼
Notes: This was a solid princess story that was easy to get lost in for a night. There’s attempted murder, balls and dancing, secrets, a BA FMC and dashing men. The dock and the storm… I mean that scene is just 🤌🏼💋 SO good. I enjoyed the banter and trying to figure out the mystery.
Why you might dislike: There were a few small things that didn’t make sense for me, I can’t explain without spoilers. But they weren’t big enough to derail the story. Also the haunted woods seemed like it was brought up a lot and I suppose I expected something more to happen with that.
This story was very refreshing. I was immediately captivated when we learned Alana was a princess and sent to live with her father, King of Altana. She leaves behind her mother and her childhood best friend, Adrian who promises to bring her home to them. This story goes through Alana’s struggles of not only learning to one day become Queen, but also learning she is stronger than her fears. I found our main character to be really smart and felt her decisions were understandable for the struggles she was facing. She has great emotional/mental development throughout the story. We also see many side characters along the way who either aid or main character or hinder her. One of my favorites was Briar. Her and Alana’s friendship was very cute and I really enjoyed their scenes together! I think liked the mystery element this story had. Had some twists and turns. Some more obvious than others. There was one I didn’t see coming so that was definitely nice! I enjoy when my “overthinking” mind can get stumped. I also love a good “forbidden romance” read! Definitely kept me interested and upped the angst! Overall, I feel this was a really nice read! It’s fast-paced and well written. I am excited to see what else Amber Paige has in store for us in the future!
Alana could have never imagined that she would one day find out she was a princess. At the age of twelve, she's lived a normal, happy life in the village. She loves her mother and her best friend, Adrian, and wants for nothing else. But when the King arrives, claiming to be her father, she goes with him to spare her mother any harm that might come to her. Adrian gives her a necklace with a bright blue gem and promises her that he will come for her one day.
Now, ten years later - being the King's Heir - Alana has not had it easy when it comes to her step mother and her younger sister. Fueled by jealousy, they have made her life hell. But Alana knows that it is her destiny to rule the Kingdom, even if she has to face off multiple attempts on her life.
After celebrating her birthday, Alana takes a walk in the garden where she is stabbed. While in recovery, her Father makes the decision that Alana will wed for her safety and for the Kingdom. They have chosen Prince Darien as her bethroted but it is his guard - Alden - that catches Alana's attention from the moment she lays eyes on him. Something about him pulls at her and while she is struggling with her feelings, Alana realises that something else is amiss within the palace.
My thoughts: What a perfect read! I had been looking forward to reading this book for so long based off of reviews I had seen all over and it was brilliant. I loved Alana, her strong character and her will. There was so much mystery and so many plot twits that it kept me on my toes. The entire story was so good and Alden was absolutely everything. So much tension, so many shared glances and little smirks. The chemistry between the two were off the charts and it had such a perfect ending!
I was fortunate enough to be gifted an ARC copy of this book and I have nothing but amazing things to say!
Amber did such an amazing job developing not only the characters but the whole plot as well. I found myself sucked in from page 1. The action starts just about immediately and progresses in each chapter. There was not one spot in this book where I felt bored with her work. I actually read chapters 1-20 in one day and finished the rest on day 2.
The character development is unreal. The female main character Alana faces trauma, panic attacks, PTSD, heartbreak, and love all in her young life. But she overcomes all of it with the help of her love Alden.
As a young child Alana was taken away from the life she had always known. All to live a whole new lavish life and prepare to become the Queen of Altana one day. On the day she was taken, her best friend gave her something that became her symbol of hope. The hope that he would come to save her when he was strong enough.
I hate to spoil anything. So don’t even question it you should read it. Just do it! This is now my comfort read.
