I must admit, Daniil is my favorite out of all the kozlov brothers. His protectiveness & the way he cared for Bianca even when he didn't know her was the sweetest thing ever. Bianca is my favorite girl from this series. She was not afraid to stand her ground, refusing to let anyone, not even love, obstruct her path of vengeance which usually isn’t the case when it comes to fmc in books, so I loved this! seeing all the characters together was enjoyable & now I’m excited to read Leo & Alyona's book.

Terrible, the writing was terrible.
I couldn’t even bare this book after 20 pages. I’m so sorry, but the main characters were so cringe and weird. I skipped almost the whole book. I didn’t even like the first two pages.

The idea of Biancas and Daniils story was interesting and this is no cliché mafia story. I appreciate that the autor builds strong female characters who know how to reach their goals and can stand their ground against the men.

There definitely is a hook to the book so you can't put it down🪝🩷

Maybe the H needed to grovel more. The ending sort of felt rushed, like when did they realise their feelings for each other. Those moments felt abrupt and maybe a stronger build up would have worked. Also the actual intimacy, not just the physical one👀 was lacking.
But nonetheless as I said the book has you hooked till the end. Safe. HEA💜

My first book by Monica Kayne and it didn’t disappoint! This book was delicious and hit all my favorite tropes: Mafia romance, enemies to lovers, arranged marriage, and this had some good smut 👏🏻

This is the first book I have read by this author and I can safely say it did not disappoint!
If you’ve been friends with me for awhile now on Goodreads you know I am a sucker for a mafia romance - and when I tell you I loved every moment of this book.
This book follows Bianca & Daniil. Bianca is trying to take down her uncle’s organisation due to the roll he played with her Parents & younger sisters deaths, and one of her main ways of doing this was getting close to his second. This is how she ends up at the opening night of Daniil’s family casino and eventually leading to Daniil winning her in a card game.
Bianca is a feisty and bad ass FMC, and Daniil is your typical hard mafia boss that is only soft for his woman (honestly that trope never gets old). These two being at each others throats added to the tension perfectly because when the moment the tension snapped - let me tell you it was HOT 🥵.
Overall I really enjoyed this book and I will most definitely go back to read the first book In this series which is about Daniils older brother. We also have Leo’s book (Daniils younger brother) coming soon👀

Hm. The characters fall flat for me and that they develop feelings... I don't see it.
He basically treats her like shit, emotionless, cold and cruel. He even says so himself a few times.
Then they have like 2 proper dates and that's it. The rest is just him fucking her mercilessly with absolutely zero regard to her physical well-being. And don't come at me with "but he made her come" - the way that my-body-betrays-me trope is used in this book is beyond what I can tolerate.
He practically SAs her, fucks her bloody (!!) and still she's all uuh and aah and whatever fucked up roughness or cruelty he hands her, she conveniently finds super hot and arousing.
I mean yes, she theoretically consents but... It's difficult. She's really only doing it because of the FBI in the beginning. So that's a grey area already.
And then all that sex is magically turned into feelings ?!
Sexual attraction is NOT the same as love! Argh.

I've had this on my tbr for over a year and finally decided to read it as a fantasy break...it was definitely a good break from the high fantasy worlds but a really bad book overall.
I think the author did a great job portraying a typical, predictable mafia universe. There was absolutely nothing unique or different about this universe and storyline, which was exactly what I needed in the moment so it worked out. With that said, a lack of plot generally needs to be balanced out by well-developed characters, which this book did not have. The ffc was decently well-written and I liked how she generally stood her ground, but she also made some decisions that went against her character traits which threw me off.
The mmc is really where this book went downhill. You start off liking him because he tries to save the fmc from an abusive relationship, but then he does a full 180 and becomes just as narcissistic, controlling, and abusive as the other guy. It was really hard to root for him, and I quickly starting hoping he would either get killed or tossed into jail which...obviously isn't the way a "romance" is supposed to go. The fmc also does apologize for her mistakes and take action to rectify them, but the mmc does not at all, which further puts into place an uncomfortable power imbalance and doesn't give off romance vibes at all. Especially at the end where he is the reason she nearly dies, he throws out a hasty apologize during a gunfight but it was nowhere near enough groveling for the amount of pain he put her through. Overall, the romance seems one-sided, where she loves him simply because he's the first person to give her positive attention, while he's just using her as a convenient baby machine (and yes, he does say this at some point).
There's also a lot of misogynistic behaviour throughout this book, especially on the part of the mmc, which is a big no for me in books. The mmc claims to be a more forward individual than other mafia men, but seems to hold a lot of prejudice against the fmc simply because she's a woman. He claims to want to save her from the way she's treated in the mafia world, but ultimately holds her to the same misogynistic and abusive standards.
With that said, yes, the power imbalance in this relationship was generally indicative of what you would see in a real mafia setting...but I read romance books for the romance so this wasn't for me. I've also read really well-written dark romances and mafia series (like the Dark Verse Series by RUNYX) that don't capitalize off of widespread misogyny and narcissistic males, so clearly it's possible for healthy relationships to exist in a mafia universe.

She doesn't take scrap from any of the mafia men. Daniel is just so damn grumpy but yummy. I love how their relationship came about and how it bloomed into something beautiful. Everyone needs a hot mafia man in their life! Thank you so much for letting me read and review your book. I loved it!

I have been excited and waiting to read Bianca and Daniil's story and Monica Kayne has produced a fabulous but intense romance.
Daniil wins Bianca in card game but the powers that be decide they should be married, and so they are. This couple struggles with what that means, the balance of lust and mistrust is heavy in their minds and hearts. 💕

I received an ARC from the author and it was my first time i am so happy 😍🥰
Monica did it again i am just amazed with her writing i truly loved this book even more than the first book,Daniil intreaged me from the first book and I wanted to see him and how he is and damn he is amazing, the story was so good the twist and turn the suspense and the plot twist was so fine 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 i was on the edge of my seat the whole time 😱😱.
Bianca is strong and a bad ass woth secrets and daniil is low on emotion but together they concer the world, the tension, the back and forth between them is everything for me i loved the angst, the chemistry between them is palpable and beneath all that tension when it grows it blew my mind the way they felt about each other 🥺🥺 i need that in my life

If you like the following tropes; Enemies to Lovers, Arranged Marriage, Age Gap, Possessive Hero, and Betrayal, then this book is right up your ally! Daniil & Bianca had amazing chemistry keeping me on my toes wanting from the very beginning. They are forced to wed after Daniil wins Bianca in a poker game but, they both don't like the idea. However, this doesn't stop them from wanting the other! Overall, it was also a great mafia found family, with a amazing and strong fmc which is rare to see in these types of books.

This book was so good! I loved the FMC, Bianca, she was such a strong, fierce, and sassy character. One of my favorite things about her was that she didn’t take shit from anyone. And Daniil was so deliciously yummy and I loved it. This book was so spicy and the twists and turns made this such a good read!

This by far one of my favourite Monica Kayne books! She does an incredible job at storytelling and giving us incredible character growth! This book was no exception and I was hooked from start to finish.
The character growth, plot, and the spice were top tier! I completely fell in love with this book and I can't wait to read more of the Kozlov empire because these men have me in a complete chokehold!!
I cannot wait for book three!!

Cute and fun read. Sometimes a little Mafia romance is all you need.
I liked that he won her over a poker game (things that are only acceptable in books) and started to care for her. We like a man who will burn the world for his woman. Although he needed to grovel a bit more. The dog named Eris was a cute little addition.

El libro me agarró en pleno bloqueo lector, entonces me demoré más de lo esperado.
Eso no quita que hubiera estado bueno, pero tampoco ha sido el mejor.
Bianca es colombiana y me preguntó si así se sentirán las personas que saben ruso o italiano cuando leen un libro así, porque wtf con esas traducciones y las palabras.
