In a supernatural world pulsing with magic, Marigold Everlee's determination burns bright as she embarks on a perilous journey to rewrite fate and rescue her vanished ifrit lover, Zev
You don't have to read the first five books (Iris and Keir) in the Grimoires' world to enjoy Marigold and Zev's trilogy.
Seven months ago, goddess magic allowed me, the very human Marigold Everlee, to have a couple of sizzling nights with the very paranormal Zev. He was tall, dark, and smoking hot.
Literally. He's an ifrit--a fire-magic-wielding djinn.
Spoiler When the goddess magic poofed---so did Zev.
Yeah. I was ghosted after he promised me, he’d be back. His disappearance turned my heart to ash. But you know what? I'm middle-aged and marvelous, baby. Crying over spilled magic isn't going to change what happened to my one-sided love connection.
I have new being the best bad-ass witch possible. My new bestie is teaching me the ways of eclectic magic, and I’m throwing all my energy into the process. I’ve always been a little hippy-dippy, so using my crystals and herbs for spell work should come naturally to me, right?
Wrong.
Just when I think I’m getting the hang of potions, a fire spell blows up in my face, leaving a cryptic message scorched into my kitchen cabinets.
From Zev. What the what!?
It seems Zev didn't want to disappear after all.
I may be a magical mess, but no one gets away with hurting the people I love, including my stubborn, sarcastic, sexy genie.
Watch out, world. This girl is on fire. Get out of the way ... or get burned.
About Renee: USA Today Bestselling author Renee George writes paranormal mysteries and romances because she loves all things whodunit, Otherworldly, and weird. Also, she wishes her pittie, the adorable Kona Princess Warrior, and her beagle, Josie the Incontinent Princess, could talk. Or at least be more like Scooby-Doo and help her unmask villains at the haunted house up the street.
When she’s not writing about mystery-solving werecougars or the adventures of a hapless psychic living among shapeshifters, she is preyed upon by stray kittens who end up living in her house because she can't say no to those sweet, furry faces. (Someone stop telling them where she lives!)
She resides in Mid-Missouri with her family and spends her non-writing time doing really cool stuff...like watching TV and cleaning up dog poop.

Burning Djinn of Fire Grimoires of a Middle-aged Witch Universe Destiny of a Middle-aged Witch Book 1 Renee George Barkside of the Moon Press
This book starts up after the massive battle Iris fought with Keir and other witches, seven months before, when she had to complete trials to prove her control of her magic. Iris is a tru-craft witch, and has travelled to Ireland with Keir. Marigold, her sister, is no longer at Iron Grove with the fireless ifrit - Zev - and the rest of her family. Instead, she now only holds a stone; a gift of his esteem. Like her sister Iris, she was transformed. This was by the deity Macha to save her life, turning her into a warrior she was always meant to be. She is now a forest giant-human hybrid, with the ability to talk to animals, and is learning magic from Carver, along with her nephew Michael and brother Rowan. She's also searching her DNA to find bio relatives after discovering a genetic predisposition for high blood pressure. As for Zev, he's been gone since the last battle and Marigold is desperate to contact him after disturbing dreams. She's convinced he's in trouble, and she might be right! Though I've read the preceding series focusing on Iris, we got to know these characters quite well, and it's good to see them take centre stage. It's great to see midlife women as the he hero, but on top of that, a positive and honest look at a main character with ADHD. Tupo, Mare's 'neighbour' or the mole who lives in her garden, is adorably cute. As is Racón, the coati she meets on her mission to reunite with Zev. The animal character voices add a touch of humour and cuteness to the narrative. Some of the human characters are great too! Particularly djinn expert Ryker. And the quietly building chemistry between Rowan and Carver is sweet too. Marigold proves she's not the damsel in distress in this one, and is more than ready to save herself. There's lots of action, magic, tension, drama and romance as well as lots of laughter. We get a HFN rather than a HEA but don't worry. There's more to come. I've grown to love this world and these stories so much, so I look forward to the next set of adventures.
Wow! What a great beginning to the spin-off of Grimoires of a Middle-aged Witch which highlighted Marigold's sister. Marigold and Zev have have gotten together after her sister Iris defeated the Snotgurgle monster. He gave her a stone to keep with her all the time with a symbol on it. But they realized they couldn't be together because of circumstances and she thought he ghosted her. So Marigold worked hard having Carver as her teacher to become a better witch. When she took the potion she was working on and secretly added an extra ingredient not called for, her kitchen blew up and she was thrown outside into the garden and she lost the rock that Zev had given her, but the message on it was burned into her hand and it was also on her kitchen cabinet. What does it mean? Then she has dreams where Zev speaks to her and leaves her clues that he is in trouble and no one can help. Far be it from Marigold to back off. So with Carver and his friend who knows how to get to the dangerous places Marigold's dreams told her about; the search begins. They are faced with so many obstacles, some seeming insurmountable with so many twists and turns you are on the edge of your seat as you turn page after page. Will they actually find Zev? Will they actually be able to save him? I highly recommend this book and can't wait to read more in this fantastic new series. There is a great Hook in the end! I can't wait to see what happens next! I received and ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.
This is a Paranormal Women's Fiction book, which means the main character is a woman over the age of 40. There is a whole genre now started by 12 authors a few years back. I have read several of them and they're always fun.
I obviously missed some books that led up to this one so I looked it up. This is the first of a spinoff series from her other PWF series Grimoires of a Middle-Aged Witch. That explains why it took me a while to figure out the world. I missed the world building and the introduction of these characters, the secondary characters, and their backstory. So if I were you I would start with Earth Spells Are Easy and read that series first. I intend to read that series before heading into book 2 of this series because I really enjoy Renee George as an author. She has a great sense of humor and writes relatable characters.
Still, this is well-written, cute, and fast-paced. Marigold had a fling with a Djinn named Zev before he left her because with his powers of fire, she would not survive their relationship. Now she's having dreams about Zev being in trouble and she's determined to rescue him even if they can't be together.
I've never identified with a sentence more. "Something large roared above me, and I jerked to duck away with the cat-like reflexes of someone who hits her head on stuff a lot." This is me and one of the reasons I love the PWF genre.
What a way to change one's life! Marigold got powers, a lover, and a run-for-your-life experience! That kept me intrigued, enjoying her explosive personality and her unfettered tongue. Scary and hilarious everything she had to go through to find out what had happened to her newfound love. With Ryker and Carver, Marigold begins an adventure full of dangers, strange and magical creatures, mercenaries, and enchantments that seem to have no solution. Luckily, with everything that happened to Marigold, she didn't lack romance and passion. Some descriptions made me chuckle. What an imagination! As a secondary character Ryker, mysterious, half-Paranormal and full of secrets, the girl caught my attention. I would like her to continue in the series because things have gotten complicated for Marigold, and she is going to need a lot of help. Interesting and entertaining story with many funny situations and mystery.
Marigold is a witch and she is in midlife and has found the man Zev of her dreams but he has issues since he is a djinn and he promised to return but he has been away for months he contacts her in the strangest of ways but she knows that he needs her but her sister Iris who is out of the country. He needs her help but doesn't want her to put herself in danger for him. Marigold gets help from her friend Carver and his friend Ryker who is coming to help find Zev. There is a lot of mischief going on on the way, and Marigold won't stop until she gets her man back. They travel to Natheria where they may or may not find Zev only time will tell. I read a copy without obligation. I volunteered an honest review.
Burning Djinn of Fire is the first book in a fun new spinoff from George's Grimoires of a Middle-Aged Witch. Marigold (Iris's sister), is trying her best to learn to deal with her new half-witch/half-giantess reality, while also dealing with being ghosted by Zev, the fire Djinn she's in love with. It's been months and she's pretty much given up hope until she receives a message that he's in danger. Now she'll do anything to save her ifrit..but will she be in time?
Danger, suspense, a little crazy, spells gone awry, lots of fire, evil fae... So much and more happens in this book, and I was there for it all. I was hooked from the very first page until the last.
Burning Djinn of Fire by Renee George Due 4/5/24 5 stars Marigold & Zev
She hadn't planned on romance but meeting Zev changed that. Then he was gone. She thought he'd be back until the months kept passing. Not ready to give up, she took magic lessons from Carver. Would she find him/ Bring him home? Not without a few blasts along the way and we're not talking the fun kind.
Lots of emotions, action, and more. A creative mind was required to write this one and I can't wait for more from that mind. I hope some of the new characters become part of the series and we see them often. A group of friends, family, and magic-doers. Fun for all making it impossible to put it down.
This is the story of Marigold Everlee and a fire-magic-wielding djinn named Zev in a way only this author can tell it! Promising to return to her, Zev disappeared and didn’t come back. So now Marigold is concentrating on being the best witch she can be, taking magic lessons from Carver Martin, an eclectic witch. So when Zev suddenly sends her a memorable message in a flamboyant way, will she turn her attention fully to her unforgettable genie? Will Carver and his friend Ryker, an expert on djinns and genies, join her to find a way to bring Zev back into her life?
Holy smoke and fire messages! Wow this is a jump in the deep end feet first n hope for the best! Cause dang if we don't go from slow to off n running at full speed ahead! One minute Marigold is practicing a potion and next fire n smoke to mysterious messages and crazy burn marks! Carver and Marigold go on an adventure with Ryker to another realm and have the chase of their life! The ending to the chase is extremely satisfying and the story ending sets it up for the next chapter in djinn life. LOL Robin is on fire with this one!!!
Marigold has been in love with Zev since their brief sojourn after her sister, Iris, defeated the snotgurgle. When he disappeared, she hasn’t stopped thinking of him and trying to find him. A spell gone explosively wrong gives her a hint as well as a significant change. She is joined on her rescue mission by Carver and a new friend. I thoroughly enjoyed all the byplay with the team and the new villains. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.
Marigold has had what she thought was a one-sided love with Zev. But after he disappears she decides to concentrate on learning to be the best witch she can. After a spell gone wrong (turns out magic isn’t as easy as she thought) she finds that Zev didn’t want to leave her any more than she wanted him to leave. So she has a new goal-get him back. I love her attitude and how she refuses to wallow when she thinks she was left but also, when new information comes to light, sets off to save him.
A human who allowed basically a few nights with a djinn ends up getting ghosted after he promise to return. A bit heartbroken her new friend teaches her magic but it does not go as well. She planned to use her spelling to get rid of the djinn forever but he does not want to disappear from her life. Can these two manage a life together or will it go poof? AAn amusing read n this paranormal series.
Can this series get any better? Yes it can!! As Iris and Keir’s story ended, Marigold and Zev’s began at the end of the previous book. This latest installment in the series follows Marigold’s adventure into another realm, discovery of her powers and new friendships, and her unwavering faith in her ifrit. A very fast paced story with new characters and supernaturals, plot twists and heart-stopping moments, this book is totally devourable!
This is about a witch and her Djinn and is a new spin off of a series and it opens right in the middle of the action. While Linda the Gnome only makes a brief call out in this book, this story has plenty of action and fun to it. Marigold and her friends are off to find Zev and of course hijinks are abound. Zev is a perfect Fire Djinn and Marigold is definitely playing in the fire. I really enjoyed the book and I can’t wait to read more.
...but the proofreading and editing needs to drastically improve.
Having read the series featuring Iris and Keir, having a follow-up featuring Marigold and Zev is great. Love the action and the blend of known and new characters. Unfortunately, the errors detract from the story.
A very suspenseful, edge of your seat read. Dreams, burning clues and...lead Marigolds on a race to find Zev, a magical fire djinn, who unexpectedly disappeared, along with Carved and Ryker. Received a free copy and am voluntarily posting an honest review.
Burning Djinn of Fire is an exciting spin-off from Grimoires of a Middle-aged Witch. This tells of Marigold and Zev. This is filled with action, adventure and love. I was left breathless.
Such a giant leap into Marigold’s story. It was fantastic! And that cliffhanger at the ending? OMG, I’m going to be on edge until we find out who she and Zev are going up against this time! Loved it!
In this amazing story of witches and magic, we meet Marigold. She’s such fun, will definitely keep you wanting more Definitely ready for the next book.
Offshoot of the first middle aged witch series, concerning the sister of our previous heroine and her witchy abilities. Much more romance and adventure in this one, hold on to your hat!
