From Chaos to Connection: How parenting with emotional intelligence raises kind, confident, resilient kids.

Rate this book
From Chaos to Connection is a practical, compassionate, thought-provoking call to action for parents. It’s time to let go of the old, outdated lessons we’ve learned about raising our children and dealing with their emotions and behaviour, and embrace the new paradigm.

Emotional intelligence is now recognised by experts and educators across the world as a non-negotiable set of skills for a successful life, no matter our age or lifestyle. Emotionally intelligent kids are more confident, empathetic, and resilient. They also know how to handle big emotions such as anger, frustration, fear and anxiety - without constantly blowing up or melting down. The research is clear, parenting with emotional intelligence is the way forward.

In her ground-breaking book, Stephanie describes candid stories of her own family as well as the clients she works with. She actively throws out the unhelpful and even damaging lessons we’ve learned about emotions, such as that they are silly, childish, embarrassing and a sign of weakness. The emotionally intelligent way of parenting discards the outdated methods with which many of us were raised (bribes, threats and punishments) and replaces them with kindness, empathy and compassionate discipline.

Stephanie offers a fresh approach to parenting that shows how an understanding of emotions, child development and the neuroscience of behaviour enables parents to ‘crack the code’ of joyful parenting. Put simply, emotionally intelligent parenting invites a lot less drama and a lot more love into the home.

With a handle on child development and a deeper understanding of emotions, parents quickly become able to connect with their children and gain their cooperation more smoothly. Get ready for compassionate nudges, pearls of wisdom, and practical strategies that will help you create your own roadmap for raising emotionally intelligent kids.

As a parent I've read my fair share of books from whole brain child, how to talk so kids will listen to raising girls who like themselves etc. All interesting reads but don't compare to how this author writes the parenting narrative.

We all know we should yell less and not punish etc as other books say but Stephanie writes this book from the child's perspective and how their little world isn't easy when we can't contain our own emotions. It takes an empathetic approach on how to handle day to day sticky situations and how to calm your inner "raging referee" a term the author coined and stuck with me.
The book is easy to read and doesn't guilt parents into doing more but to understand their children better with each chapter containing a chapter challenge at the end to make it actionable.

I'd like to say after a week of reading it. My parenting style has changed as a result and feel closer to my two girls beyond the initial "I've just read a book and will do more then fall back to old routines".

Thank you to the author, look forward to more books from Stephanie Pinto.

Omg! Such an eye opener.
I now realise there are so many things I need to change in *myself* before I can change things in my kids.
Even before finishing the book, I noticed some positive results from my adjusted ways of parenting. I'm now being more curious and less critical with my two young daughters.
Now I need to get my husband to read it...
Highly recommended!

Amazing and inspirational

Best parenting book I have read. This is a must-read book for every new parent. I wish I read this book sooner. This will help raise our children to be kind and authentic and help parenting be less challenging.
