If you’re not a Luca fan after reading this novella then idk what to tell you. “Ever” is set shortly after Lucas was born and chronicles her battle with postpartum depression. She felt like she was sinking in quick sand and didn’t know the first step to escape. Luca was such a gem in this story. He stepped up to the plate in a big way to care for Ever and witnessing her journey to being made whole again was beautifully written. Grey has really shown her range and skill when it comes to showcasing very real issues and how you can successfully heal from them when love is at the forefront.
I just love how Luca loves him some Ever. The way he stepped up when that postpartum monkey was on her back was a beautiful thing to witness. Luca really showed up for Ever and nursed her back to her place of peace. He allowed her space to break, he made sure to stay in communication with her throughout her depression, he found her a therapist, and he took care of their tribe of kids himself. Hell, he even took her on a postpartum vacation. Listen, if my husband is not supportive like this, Ion want him. Ever was an emotional short that definitely gave me all the feels.
"The ivory sheets that bundled on the bed once kept my heart warm. Now, she was four rooms down, furthest from every indication of life outside of her head." This is how Luca describes Ever, his heart. I mean atp where is my Luca?? Because this man continues to LOVE so loudly through his actions and I just love him.
This is my original review: Aww I'm not sure how I missed this, but it cements the beautiful man that makes up Luca. This is in no way a full story, instead it's a little peek into Luca and Ever's family after baby Lucas was born. This book takes place before Laike, and Ledge's stories. It also makes sense of the wisdom Luca shared with Ledge.
Ever is my favorite character in the Eisenberg effect and this novelette adds to that notion. Ever has a big beautiful heart and is a mother, nurturing others is natural for her. Unfortunately she finds herself in a position she never ever expected to be in and feels.... hopeless, useless. My heart broke for her because she was unable to be her best self.
Luca showed up for her though. This man y'all, hell I'm starting to wonder if I ever been in love with the way he cherished her. Even though he was struggling with their situation he was preparing himself to love this new version of her. Ever and Luca remain my forever faves!
Updated***I reread this as more pages were added. I wished it would have been edited better, but I enjoyed the additions. There was more of the couple together, a little more of the babies, and Ever feeling more confident in herself. I'm never going to pass on reading more about the Eisenbergs so just call me bias.
The second time to read this story gave me all the same feeling about Ever's condition and Luca loving her back to her place of peace. The way this author spoke about postpartum depression was thoughtfully done. I always liked Luca, but now I think I love that man's dirty drawers.. Bravo....
whew 🥹 this gave me all the feels!!!! postpartum depression is real and grey huffington wrote this story so beautifully and the support luca showed ever during this time… omg omg! i remember after having my second baby and though my feelings didn’t go as deep as ever’s, I could still relate to the helplessness you feel during that time. i was not prepared for this and was not able to stop reading it at the same time. 4.5 stars for me!!
Luca is my fav. And I’m forever a fan of any book he’s in. It was good catching up with him and Ever. I’m sure this story was relatable to many women. I love the family that Luca and Ever created.
Short story follow up to 'Luca (The Eisenberg Effect Book 1)' Luca and Ever have expanded their family and Ever is struggling with postpartum depression. An emotional short. The author did a great job of making us feel what Ever was going through. Luca was so supportive of his wife and helping her overcome her struggles and get the help she needed to become a even stronger woman, wife, mother. Grey Huffington writes some amazing characters.
Luca is always to the rescue when it comes to Ever and I love that for her. Postpartum depression is a real thing and it should never be overlooked. Mental health matters and I’m glad he covered his wife through it. Grey, thanks for this novella!!!!
Short story. I love Ever. Her postpartum depression is real. I felt so bad for her and especially the kiddos but it’s reality. Luca is a good man period! I enjoyed she went thru her stages but realized her family needed her. It takes a village , I truly believe that!
As a mom who lived through postpartum depression, this book hit home. Wanting to show up and not able to stay afloat is so accurate. Thank you for blatantly sharing this story
Sweet Ever, sad a sweet soul had to tell this dark story. But that’s the character of Ever always giving so the world is better, so that others can understand some ir the burdens the good hearted have to bear.
Although this was just a brief glimpse into Ever's PPD, I really appreciate that the author took the time to tell this story. PPD is very real and, unfortunately, there's still a lot of stigma around it. The only thing I would have changed was to have a little more about Ever's therapy session(s), just for the simple fact that not every mom who's struggling with PPD would be able to take a two-week vacation to try to get back to themselves. This is still a romance novel, so I get it in this context, but I think it would have been helpful to at least provide some insight into what someone who is also struggling could expect.
Luca is still my favorite Eisenberg and his love for Ever is, well, everything.
So real, raw, emotional and yet full of love, understanding, and a sense of peace. To know that you could be falling apart and your man catches you, my gawd, Ever is bluto have a man like Luca and Luca is everything. He was the star of this short ❤️
This book was and is very well needed for mommas of this world. Life happens and everyday it zooms by and I’m not a mom but I definitely can understand and see where postpartum comes into play for women they need a mental, physical, emotional and spiritual break at times and to be able to build themselves up and strengthen an improve them as a whole in all forms. It’s not selfish for a mom to need a break at being a mom for a second because at the end of the day they are human and was somebody before they were ever a mom. It saddens me though when women go through this at a time in life when having a child is a monumental and precious moment to connect with yourself as a women and with your child/children it’s just part of the imperfections that we have designed at the moment where our brain trips up and our body follows and throws it off. What I loved and appreciate was Luca through and through that man is a god send for Ever and I wish all women had a man like that who is so supportive and understanding because he held it down, loved on his wife and was a real man about the situation and handled it the best, encouraging and positive way he could. He uplifted her and respected the vows they made of through sickness and health that not many people these days follow unfortunately. He also gave her time as well that she really needed and didn’t push to hard but gave the right push she needed to get well again. When they say it takes a village to raise just one child is so true so having children and having that support system to back it up is always the best and that’s what Ever and Luca have I just loved that the family was there supporting as usual and don’t play when it comes to family. I love the bond Ever has with her kids and loved the thought process on parents being friends with their kids like it’s ridiculous how many parents I’ve met or heard say their kids and them are not friends and that they are the parent which I get but at the same time people don’t realize the block they put up between their child and them by putting it that way and if they were more open to the idea many parents and children relationship would be stronger; the parents just have to know the limits and boundaries throughout the different stages in life of their children . But overall I enjoyed this short updated read and as always Ever and Luca will be in my heart as one of the many book couples who have a strong hold on me as you can see with how much love I added in this review 😂.
The beginning of this book really had me messed up 🥲😢😢Ever has always been one of my favorite female characters from the very start of this series. She has always been so strong and such a fighter and to open this book and find her in so much pain truly broke my heart😞. Thank God for Luca’s forever Love. As always he didn’t disappoint he stepped up and did everything he had to do to let Ever know that he was there no matter what. I cried for both of them until Ever saw the light at the end deep dark tunnel she had fallen into. I wiped my sad tears away and smiled while happy tears started to flow ,realizing that she was discovering her new self and my favorite Book Bae, Luca was everything to Ever that he had promised.
Grey Huffington Thank you for this well written short storythat made me feel so many different emotions. And those sweet sweet babies ❤️❤️ Essence and Emoree leading the pack 😊❤️🥰
Now I was all for Luca before reading ever but I swear this man only gets better with time. The way he loves and cares for Ever while she is really struggling. Postpartum is so real and I’m sure a lot of women and families can relate to this story. The fact that ever was able to be cared for in the way that she was not made to feel bad for sinking an subsume to her feelings. Being able to witness Evers journey to reconnecting to herself and her family. It was beautiful to see how Luca steps up and takes over nursing her back and giving her peace. I love how Grey wrote this story and allowed us as readers to see just how hard it can be to fight to get back to a good place. This is something I did not experience but the light it gave to know what some might actually go through allowed a different perspective and with some many women ending up harming themselves or their child breaks my heart that they don’t have someone in their corner the way Ever had.
This book is a good testimony to what some women go through after having a baby, I I think Ever came over her so fast and hard because when she had lost Dillion she did not grieve the way she should have nor did she have the support from her boyfriend he really didn't care and then when she finally got the courage to leave only to be found my him and almost beaten to death, her kids being kidnap she didn't allow her body/mind the time it needed to process and feel the hurt she just kept putting a brave face, so once she had Lucas it all hit her at once and she didn't know how to pull herself out of it; so happy that Luca was the man he was and didn't give up of her or his family he stood by her carrying the full load all while supporting her giving her all his love to lean on in order for her to come back to her family and be the person she used to be.
Woo shoot I think my eyes are sweating! That Luca! Lord it’s me again… Talk about holding it down! He was doing it all and refusing to let him woman stay in that depression. He understood the assignments of love and marriage! Ever went through it, with through being the operative word. That post partum had her under deep and her babies and husband suffered with her. This book sheds light on depression and motherhood and how you are so much too so many that at times you can lose yourself. She and her family were going through a devastating and painful time but the love that he had for her and the family coupled with her finding her way through was beautiful.
The whole Eisenberg Effect series has been dynamic. The love between each character and their significant other is both familiar and dream like. The intensity of the love is like watching a dream unfold . But this novella is my favorite of the series because we get real, uncut, and unfiltered emotion from our female lead character. Ever has been strong and everyone’s shoulder to lean on throughout this entire series and then everything changes. Suddenly Ever can’t be strong and the woes of PPD takes over . I felt seen reading this book. It took me on a journey of healing and it made me fall even more in love with Luca and the Eisenberg family.
Grey Huffington, your pen is amazing. Thank you for touching on taboo subjects. Thank you for showing Ever lose all of herself. In my opinion, Ever was and is so strong she just handles all situations with grace no matter what it is. To see her find a new strength she needed to survive was everything to me. Having the change to just breathe gave Ever the chance to grow, Luca and her village gave her the time, understanding and much love. Thank you for opening our eyes to another topic of importance🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️- Ever ( The Eisenberg Effect) -Grey Huffington
Let’s call this a Mini -Review!
Let’s roll into the novella, Ever, which was short and sweet and showed us a little more of life after marriage with Luca and Ever.
I enjoyed this 70 page novella because it shows that life isn’t always sunshine and roses and that tough times do come.
When Ever needed Luca the most he was right there to pick up the pieces and help her in anyway he could. He was patient and kind and never felt made her feel bad for what she was going through. He loved her while she was down, loved her through her healing and loved her when she began feeling like herself again. And baby. Who could ask more?!
All in all I loved these books. And I am so excited to continue reading the Eisenberg Effect series! Definitely recommend starting them if you haven’t ✌🏾❤️
Luca…Luca…Luca!! This guy right here!!! These Eisenberg men are something else!
Ever is going through something very real and is trying to find her way back to herself. If you enjoyed Luca, you will possibly enjoy Grey sharing a rough patch moment between Ever & Luca, which happens to be VERY realistic. This story shows the power of surrounding yourself with someone who will love you in sickness and in health.
I think women who have had children would be able to relate to this. In addition, I think this can be read as a standalone for that reason alone BUT I think you will want to read Luca first to get an idea on the backstory and all that she has been through!
"If it was the last thing I did, I’d make sure that my baby came out of this an even better person. This was only a bump in the road. It was til death for us."
How did I miss this book !? Grey continues to amaze me as she can write about anything.
Ever is going thru it. Its been about 8 wks since Lucas was born & Ever got hit hard with PPD. But one thing about Luca Eisenberg, he loves his f*cking wife & this is minor. The way this man loves her, I pray to meet a man to love me this loud & intentionally. Luca made room for her to feel, but let her know that this was not a forever thing. His patience was so beautiful. & when Ever finally made it on the other side, I legit cried 💕
Out of all the Eisenberg’s, Luca and Ever are my fav love story. Ever experienced so much trauma from her past relationship, and didn’t quite heal before diving heart first with Luca, and postpartum brought those memories and pain to the forefront. Luca literally loved her back to life, with care and grace. He allowed her space to break, while loving her and helping her build and embrace this new version of herself. All the while holding down fort and making sure that the kids didn’t miss a beat. I didn’t think that I could love him more, but here we are lol.
This was a beautiful read of unconditional love through sickness and health. Luca is a woman dream man okayyy. He never gave up or loss doubt that Ever could fight through postpartum with him right by her side. I personally never experienced postpartum but I have seen what it can do to others it’s not joke. Not having a support system can break you, but Luca and the family was everything and more. Moms get overwhelmed sometimes and people rather call you lazy instead of helping out.
8 weeks after giving birth to her son Lucas; Ever is struggling with postpartum depression. Luca is the perfect husband and father I swear. His patience and love that he have for Ever and his kids is out of this world. The affirmations he gives her constantly, the communication he gives, the space he gives just perfect. To see Ever like this was sad because she just so vibrant and in good spirits. The mini vacay that Luca took her on helped out tremendously. Glad to see her in better spirits.
Postpartum depression is REAL! The effects it can hav on new mothers, mentally, physically and spirituality, can be profound. It can cause potentially devastating consequences that can rip families apart. Grey Huff did the unthinkable and had one of her most beloved characters to go through this malady AFTER she and Luca had their HEA! Again I say: THIS IS REAL! Thank you Grey Huff, for tastefully touching on a sensitive subject with characters we LOVE, and showing us that with patience, love, and understanding, this too, shall pass!
