Airplane Games

I think I’ve been literally counting down for the debut of Airplane Games since last Christmas. After reading Hotel Games and Holiday Games, I knew one more story was missing - and it didn’t disappoint!
Airplane games isn’t your usual feel good romance. Quite honestly Elliot can be a little polarizing depending on your own personality type and preferences. She runs very hot and cold, and is a high end wedding photographer. Her and Parker’s paths keep crossing at the airport and the universe clearly is pushing them to see one another as these opportunities overlap.
Parker, a high end mechanic, also travels around the world helping fix luxury cars. As a former race car driver, he’s done well for himself. He is looking to settle down but cannot seem to shake Elliot from his soul. She however is hard to catch despite her clear desire for Parker when they’re together.
This story has a good level of steam in it, and sometimes you are left frustrated by both characters decisions after their visits together. However there is redemption for them both, but only after a lot of world wide chasing. There’s also some other side lovers that Parker has to deal with which are hilarious.
My favorite quote was “You know, I’d have a couch that’d look great in here.” Once you read the story, you’ll understand that this couch is a piece of home and importance to both characters.
An all around win for me by Cat! Can’t wait to see what she dreams up in the future.

3.75 Stars (soooo close to four, but I just couldn't get there)
First off, I'd like to state that this was a different kind of romance novel from what I tend to read. I understand what Wynn does with her characters and I've liked the execution for her other works. I was pretty absorbed with Elliot and Parker's romance until I realized it wasn't moving along like I hoped. It just didn't hit quite right for me in Airplane Games. I think my ultimate issue with it was I left feeling a little sad about the characters, not fully having come around to their HEA (there IS an HEA, I just wasn't there). I am all about characters who need to work on themselves and maybe even need help moving on...but I think there were too many instances in this story where I questioned why we were still doing the same shit we had done at 20%-30% in. I like my narratives to move along. The ending wrap up felt like a leap for our characters considering ten pages earlier they were still on their same toxic shit. I wanted to see more of the bridge period, I suppose. While I enjoyed Parker's POV, I think I felt adrift without also getting to hear from Elliot. There were moments when we'd get to hear what she thought of a situation and I could understand both of their mindsets. For a character like Elliot who tends to unintentionally wreck a lot of havoc, I think this would have lent to endearing her more to me as a reader.
The steamy scenes were solid, considering Cat always nails these. But again, I was always a little sad because of how Parker viewed these moments between him and Elliot. It kinda took away from the romance for me.
This might be considered slightly spoilery to some readers:
Lastly, I thought the whole storyline with Tessa and Parker was odd. I know its very polarizing to include other potential partners for MCs besides the other main character of the book. That actually wasn't my issue here. My issue came down to feeling it was incongruent of Parker's personality to essentially do to Tessa what other women had done to him his whole life. He carried real, deep hurt over his past relationships and I didn't think his leading on Tessa made a lot of sense. Especially since it went on for so long.

Airplane Game is the story of Elliot and Parker who meet in an airport lounge and find themselves bumping into each other during their travels. Both are dealing with some baggage and trying to navigate the life they're currently living.
Elliot as the FMC is a polarizing character, and I sort of have a girl crush on her. She's unapologetic and lives her life the way she thinks she should. She has friends, but keeps them mostly at arm's length as she travels the world as the "wedding photographer to the influencer stars." Which in this day, is a lucrative job.
Parker is a mechanic to the rich and famous after his racing career literally crashed. Still trying to manage his parent's death as an 18 year old and being a rock to his twin sister, he takes on only the jobs he wants and enjoys the perks of your clients being richer than rich. I kind of loved that he mentioned more than once he's a mechanic, he's good with his hands. ;) Tell me more Parker...
The interactions between the two are a little turbulent, so fasten those seatbelts and place a drink on your tray table readers. These are two characters who know who they are now, but are trying to figure out the future.
If you love a story with real characters and he falls first, this book is for you.

Might revisit the stars but I really enjoyed this book! The audio isn’t listed as an option but listened to it. Parker felt real and I loved all the mishaps and situations and stumbling around.

3.5/5 🌟 Not because it's not well written but because I seriously disliked the fmc so much that the book left me in a bad fucking mood.
You ever read a book where one character just pisses you off at every turn? Yeah, this book had that. I wanted to throttle Elliot through this entire book. She just ran and ran and hurt him the entire time. Sure, Parker made some bad decisions. He tried so hard to not have feelings for her and to find what he needed with someone else. What else was he supposed to do when he was in love with a woman so terrified of commitment she wouldn't even give him her phone number? A woman who ran every time he got real with her. I was gutted when he told her he loved her and said "you'll take everything and leave me with nothing" She just took and took and ugh. Maybe I needed to see a little more of the hea because I didn't feel it. At all.

Airplane Games by Cat Wynn is a fun romp that defies the stereotypes of a romance novel. It centers around Parker Donne, a man who made his fortune as a mechanic for rare and expensive cars. Parker is stabled, dependable, set in his ways, and ready to settle down. The problem is the woman who has captured his attention is the polar opposite.
I will admit it took a bit to get into the plot of this book while I was trying to figure out if I liked the main female character, Elliot, but once I figured out there was more to her than what was on the surface I was hooked. The plot is fast paced as we watch Parker try to navigate his encounters with Elliot while trying to find a way to convince her to commit to him. I loved that the book had so many different locations and reasons for the characters to encounter each other while traveling, as it truly added to the plot.
I think one of my struggles while reading the book was how much I wanted to yell at both Parker and Elliot throughout the book. Elliot is flighty and sees commitment as an end to her independence. She has a lot of emotional baggage, but she strings Parker along for a lot of the book. Just when he’s starting to move on from her after she rejects his attempts at a deeper relationship, she seems to show up just to hook him once again. Parker is also far from innocent. In his attempt to move on from Elliot he begins dating someone else. While he never really lies about his intentions or where he stands in this other relationship, he does send very mixed messages.
Despite the love triangle aspect, I did really love the chemistry between Parker and Elliot. Their flirtation at times made me laugh out loud, and when Elliot finally allows herself to be vulnerable it hits all the right emotions. The spice was also on point, and their physical relationship was definitely steamy.

I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a bit of a quirky romance that will push the boundaries of the genre. It’s a fun read and I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

- This is a fun meet cute and I’m loving Elliot’s quirkiness 🙃 she’s a chaos monster and it’s awesome 😂
- Parker’s instagram going viral is awesome, especially because of the reason why 🔥
- Parker just wants a life with someone, and it’s adorable. I really feel for this sweet guy ❤️🩹 Plus, the idea that he’s so hot that he’s constantly getting hit on is a funny theme.
- I also really appreciate Parker’s honesty. He’s trying really hard not to be a fvck boi…
- Parker’s friends, Pamela and Rebecca, are the coolest 😎 and Elliot’s friends are also incredible 🖤
- The entire choices vs feelings commentary strikes a chord

It was really hard to trope this book because it’s so different from any romance I’ve read before. This book seriously kept me on my toes! I was laughing, and saying “aww”, and crying, and lots of other things throughout. Parker was such a great MMC and Elliot was frustrating at times, but I loved her. Seeing her grow and eventually find a healthy balance for herself was so satisfying. This one may not be for everyone, but I really enjoyed the ride!

POV: Single (Parker)
Spice: Dual
Airplane Games is definitely a different kind of romance and although it might not be for everyone, it’s the kind of book I couldn’t put down! I started to question if there would be a HEA, and I even questioned if I wanted Parker and Elliott to work out at all, so while my feelings were all over the place, I needed to find out what happened.
Parker is the MMC and Elliott the FMC, but they are a bit opposite of the normal gender roles in romance. Parker falls first and is trying to get Elliott to commit, and Elliott is the closed off one that we don’t know much about through most of the story. Most of the time I felt that Elliott was toxic for Parker, but at the same time they did have off the charts chemistry. We don’t get Elliott’s POV, which is fine, but it also made it harder to sympathize with her or know why she does things until the end of the book. I’m not sure she ever really redeemed herself in my eyes, but it was enough where I was happy with the way things worked out.
The airplane/travel aspect was really unique and gave it its light and fun parts, but there were some darker, emotional parts as well. There is a bit of a love triangle (ish) and both Parker and Elliott fool around with others, which is not really my cup of tea. Otherwise, the story flows well and it was an unexpected way to change up my normal romance reads! Kudos to Cat for writing something different!

The Story follows Parker Donne and Elliot Sheer and how they fell in love .
Parker is a mechanic and because of his job he is traveling a lot. Elliot is a wedding photographer, who is living her life wild and free. Kinda the opposite of Parker.
Ever since they both met at the airplane, both can’t really stop thinking about each other and when they meet, this sexual chemistry is always insane.
But still, this love story and the journey to this HEA had me sometimes questioning if this would really have a HEA.
Most of the time the writing was more about Parkes POV which why we couldn’t really sympathize with Elliot’s Character.
But in the end you really knew what was going on and for me it was good enough to be happy with the outcome.
I really loved Cat Wynns writing, she had me hooked from the first few pages and it was easy to read through.
If you‘re looking for an easy book, but still something different, you should really put this on your TBR 🫶.

Parker and Elliot meet while traveling for work. Parker is looking to settle down and Elliot is looking for anything BUT serious. The spark between them burns hot and they can’t seem to get away from each other - mentally or physically. They serendipitously, unrealistically run into one another in airports and hotels all over the globe.
These characters are both living with childhood/early adulthood trauma and seem to want (no, NEED) things that are bad for them.
Overall, i enjoyed this slow burn turned spicy romance! BUT… I wanted to strangle both main characters at various parts of this book; when we [the reader] can see something so clearly that they [the main characters] are so blind to… GRR!

If you need a good book for your flight, I definitely recommend adding this one to your list! Airplane Games is a turbulent love story and that's a pretty accurate representation of it. Parker and Elliot are polar opposites that attract and by chance keep running into each other either in an airport or plane. I enjoyed their back-and-forth banter a lot. Although you definitely felt as if the author was keeping this very surface level which is right up to par with Ellie's character. It took until the end of the book to really feel the depth that evolved over time. I related to Ellie in a few different ways. I will give props to Parker for having his boundaries and trying to stick with them as best as he could. Give me a first-class flight to see these two in real life, please.

I went into Airplane Games incredibly excited as I read the author's previous books and novellas and was eagerly anticipating her next full length novel.
The book was very well written and there were never any lulls in the story. The spice was definitely there (if a little tame in comparison to her last novel, Partner Track) and the story was unique in that it was told from the MMC POV. My only reason for giving 4 instead of 5 stars is that I could not stand the FMC, Elliot. There were times I couldn't wait for her to get off the page, so I found myself skimming some pages even though I enjoyed the overall storyline. I've never wanted a MMC to choose someone other than the FMC so badly before. She's definitely a character that you either love or hate, and maybe that's a testament to the author's writing. Nonetheless, I'm looking forward to future work from the author!

I've never wanted a MMC to choose someone other than the FMC so badly before. She's definitely a character that you either love or hate, and maybe that's a testament to the author's writing. Nonetheless, I'm looking forward to future work from the author!

Airplane Games was a perfectly written game of cat and mouse, a romance version of Catch Me if You Can! Elliot was flighty…seriously! This woman would appear and disappear like she was never there leaving our poor Parker completely flabbergasted. He falls first, and hard and it’s both endearing and a train wreck because Elliot makes it difficult and Parker is somewhat of a people pleaser. However, the chemistry, banter, and dynamics between the two literally won’t allow you to put the book down. If you’re ready for scotch and champagne flights, bad edible trips, endless laughs, accidentally going viral, and finding that person their all just to be in your orbit, pick up Airplane Games today!

It started off pretty good, Parker was likeable. It was a nice change for the guy to be the one looking to settle down while Elliot wasn't looking for anything long term. Though as the story progressed it just got very train wreck-y and both the characters started getting on my nerves. I don't know how he didn't see himself repeating all his past -ships again when he started getting hung up on Elliot. Always the one to drop everything and chase. It got kinda pathetic. Oh and Elliot was just all hot and cold, not wanting to commit but still not letting Parker move on. Seriously wanted to slap her at times for the way she was acting.

Cat Wynn’s latest book, Airplane Games, is a cat and mouse story of a luxury car mechanic and a destination photographer, who keep running into each other at airports around the world. But is it by choice or by chance?
We first met Elliot in the Hotel Games and Holiday Games novellas. I was so looking forward to her story, but I feel like this came up a little short. Parker has a lot of issues. While I am a fan of flawed heroes, wishy washy heroes are different. While he was capable of being assertive, there were also times where I just wanted to smack some sense into him.
Airplane Games has some angst, humor, flawed characters, and of course a HEA.

This is the third book in this series, and this is Parker and Elliot’s story. Parker wants to settle down and start a family, but he is travelling a lot with being a high-end travelling mechanic, and Elliot is a destination wedding photographer. These two meets on a flight and they may be opposites, but they are attracted to each other. These two keeps crossing paths at airports, but will they ever be together? This is a good story which is told in Parkers’ POV, and has emotions, chemistry, angst, and is an enjoyable page turner.
I look forward to reading more from this author whose work I highly recommend.

So, as a hopeless romantic, I found this book to be interesting. However, I found myself a bit confused and lost. I didn't like the indecisiveness of Parker, I also found Tessa to be quite the impulsive female who knew Parker was drawn to another woman but decided she wanted him and was willing to wait for him. Elliot, well I'm not even sure how I can sum her up. I felt like she wanted a hit-and-run but still was getting attached to Parker. All in all the story was interesting.
Choose this as it's a travel romance and I must say it lived up to its title.
Recommended for all who like an interesting travel romance read while traveling.

LOVED this book ! I think saw a bit of myself in Elliot's character and, frankly, it felt like a first after the gazillions of romance novels I've read. Elliot is such a beautiful trainwreck who, yes, runs hot and cold. But you know what? Us hot-and-cold folks deserve happily ever afters too! Life is hard and people who feel intense emotions are just as worthy of love, companionship, cameras that work, and hot HOT sex. I think Cat Wynn makes a powerful statement in that regard and I can't wait for more!

I really wanted to like this book, and I suppose it is different from your conventional romcom (though I'm on the fence about calling it one). But I can't get over how much I find the FMC incredibly insufferable. She's flaky, immature and kind of an evolved manic pixie dream girl. The MMC was okay, but it made it impossible for me to respect his choices and how he's willing to hurt other people for her. She didn't deserve his time or attention, and I wish he grew backbone. Nothing worse than a "nice guy" making very asshole decisions.

Elliot was so frustrating. I was 84% in when the urge to dnf became stronger but I was too far ahead to give up.
“So, either get with him or don’t but stop playing this game. It’s exhausting even as a viewer.” - finally someone said it
Parker was too much of a nice guy he should have set clear boundaries with everyone even Elliot. They spent so much time fighting and chasing each other there wasn’t any chemistry or love.

Parker and Elliot literally play airport tag…they meet then spend a lot of time running into each other at airports. It’s a playful, flirtatious game they play. Parker is a traveling mechanic and Elliot is a photographer so both add up plenty of air miles. Elliot seams confident but deep in side she has insincerity like everyone else. Now Parker…. I found Parker to be extremely wishy washy and unable to make any big decisions about his personal life. Surprisingly he had several women who were interested in him yet he was unsure about how he truly felt. I liked the idea of this book but it fell a little short for me and dragged a little. I truly loved Elliot and her story. I would definitely read another book by this author and give another book a chance.

I really enjoyed this! There was a fair bit of angst and a lot of the same sh*t over and over, but I felt it made sense. People don’t just change at the drop of a hat. It takes time. I found their journey very relatable. Who hasn’t led someone on even if that wasn’t necessarily their intent? This kept me fully engrossed and eager to see how we’d make it to our HEA. I loved it!

Airplane Games was exactly what I needed in my life this month.
It’s told from Parker’s POV, which is unique because we don’t really get a lot of books from the male POV. I loved the unique aspect of the airplane setting and all of the travel involved.
Elliot is a wedding photographer who travels a lot for work. Parker is a high end car mechanic who does the same. The cross paths randomly one night on a private flight, and their lives are never the same.
The chemistry between these two is OFF THE CHARTS. Jumping off the page HOT. The push and the pull between these two was insane, and Elliot drove me absolutely insane at times. Parker was head over heels and ready to lay it all down for her. That man.. seriously.. so swoony.
I won’t lie- I definitely also cried at several points. Cat really got me with all that angst and emotion.
Five stars. I’m obsessed.

Unusual Premise
I like a book with a slightly different premise and this totally hit the nail on the head. Parker & Elliot were such rich characters. I’d like to have seen more about Elliot’s struggles but a really strong read
