When Chloe moved to LA, she wasn't trying to meet a star or become one.
While working for a famous chef, Chloe made a delivery to Chris' house. Although he had the physique, the face, and that devilish grin that made her want to spread open for him on the counter - he was a client. And she was strictly forbidden from fraternizing with clients.
Chris made it to the NBA and already had one championship ring. Finding a woman to settle down with wasn't exactly what he wanted. But he saw her in his kitchen. Then his main concern was no longer winning another championship. It quickly became convincing her that she wanted him as badly as he wanted her.
Will Chloe give him a chance to shoot his shot - or will she be working hard on her defense?

I just really liked this story! It gave all the feels, I loved how passionate Chloe was about her career as a chef and how supportive Chris was towards her. They were a dynamic duo. Their sweet lovings was a pleasant surprise and I may or may not have teared up at the end.
I’ll be honest, I was extremely excited for this but did it meet my expectations? No. I was a bit disappointed. The writing didn’t quite feel right and was highly repetitive. I also didn’t feel the chemistry between the MMC and the FMC which is the most disappointing part. There were many things that were added to the plot that seemed like were there just to elongate it and had no effect on the plot. So for me this is a ⭐️⭐️
Thanks for making me sweat about this couple's happy ending. I thought I would have to visit this story to sit for a while to make sure Chris and Chloe understood about love. A blind man with one eye could see they were meant to be together. It took them a minute, aggravating me to no end, but Chris finally wore Chloe down, showed her his softer side, and got his girl.
-black romance -sports romance -he had a crush on her first
Chloe and Chris are now my new favorite couple. Chloe felt so relatable as a character and I loved reading about her passion and backstory. I liked that Chloe was focused on chasing her dreams. I liked chris as a character he was really funny and had such a great personality. I think my favorite part was Chris supporting Chloe’s dream in being a chef. I liked that this story showed great representation of healthy black relationships.
In the second installment of this captivating three-part series, the story continues to unfold with all the passion, intensity, and raw emotion that made the first book so irresistible.
The author does a fantastic job of blending sports drama with personal development. As the main character faces not only tough opponents on the court but also inner battles and personal relationships off the court, the narrative becomes a powerful reflection on ambition, identity, and resilience. The author’s ability to capture the essence of what it means to be an athlete, especially in the intense world of basketball, makes this a must-read for fans of sports fiction.
What stands out in this second book is the way the characters continue to evolve. While the first book introduced us to the team dynamics and personal struggles, this one delves deeper into the protagonist’s mental and emotional journey. We see the consequences of decisions made in the previous book come to fruition, creating a sense of suspense that keeps readers engaged.
The pacing is steady, with just the right balance between on-court action and quieter, reflective moments. These slower moments add depth to the characters, allowing readers to understand their motivations and the emotional stakes behind every pass, shot, and play.
The writing itself is sharp, and the game sequences are well-executed, offering both excitement and drama that feel true to the basketball world. Whether it's the nail-biting final minutes of a championship game or the personal heartache that comes with facing one’s own limitations, the author captures these moments with precision and emotion. If you loved the first book, this second one will not disappoint. It’s a perfect mix of intense action, character development, and a heartwarming journey of self-discovery. Highly recommended!
Another hit by J. Nichole!! Chloe is a chef whose boss is a bully. She is assigned to deliver meals to an affluent client at his home. She meets the homeowner who is a NBA basketball player. She is unaware of who he is and is not trying to bring attention to herself. Well, she intrigued Chris with her beauty and her nonchalance. He finds out her identity and finds ways to be in her presence. They are getting to know each other when Chris’ ex comes back into the picture. Chloe is not feeling the drama he’s bringing so she ghosts him. Chris is determined to to be with Chloe. He explains the situation with his ex. While they still have some roadblocks, it’s fun watching their relationship evolve. They become each other’s support, they encourage each other and it’s a beautiful thing. I absolutely loved this story. I can’t wait to read the next book!
The storyline is cute, but there’s something about the writing style I did not like. It took me weeks to finish reading this book, which only happens when I am struggling to get through reading a book. I almost did not finish the book, but decided to force myself to see it through to the end. My feedback may come off a bit harsh so I will refrain from going into detail about how I felt about the writing style. I probably won’t give this author another try, unfortunately. I think what I mostly didn’t like about it, is it didn’t have a sense of realism to me. Yes, the social media aspect is realistic in today’s age, but that’s where the realism ended for me. I tend to like books that I can picture really happening and this book didn’t give me that feeling.
How is it possible that Chris’s lawyer didn’t make sure the divorced papers were sign. Fake news
Yo, that hag Mabel is such a hater.
What Chloe did at the airport was mean and rude. She lost some points with me. I don’t like Chris throwing that he bought the ticket to Memphis in her face. I get he was mad and understandably so, but if you do things no need for someone it’s not necessary. Imagine if she lets him help with her business and then she does or says something he doesn’t like, is he going to throw that in her face?
I was kind I’d upset with Chloe’s dad. I’m glad he got some sense before the book ended.
Chris and Chloe were entertaining. I really liked them together. Glad Chloe gave them a chance. Those WAGs are awful. Act like high schoolers in a clique
I loved Chris and Chloe together. They were so cute and I loved their chemistry. Chris was determined to make Chloe his and he wasn’t afraid to put in the work to do so. Chloe was looking for a shot to make her dreams a reality and didn’t know entering a relationship with Chris would make her dreams come true faster than she could have imagined. This book was filled with love between these two and very little drama. I always love how this author gives us a full relationship with her couples and shows their struggles to make to happily ever after. I highly recommend this series.
Chloe was a chef and she longed to be around the best teacher. She was able to move to LA and to fulfill her dreams of working in the kitchen of a chef by the name of Mabel who was already established cooking for celebrities and others. Her first visit out was to take prepared meals to a baller by the name of Chris Matthew who played professional basketball. He was taken with her the first time he saw her. She not so much because she knew little about basketball. He was in love the first time he saw her. Great read, and the end after a few hiccups is magical.
Okay, I am so excited for this series. Chris and Chloe made such a cute young couple. Chris encouragement of Chloe was very touching. I enjoyed how Chris thought he was not at that level but alway displaying plenty of PDA when Chloe was near. Loved how Imani and Aria stepped right in and befriended Chloe. She needed that new support system and they were perfect.
Side rant...the funky behind wives that are always hating, we need their names so we can boo them out the arena.
This was such a great read! I laughed when Chloe first went to deliver the pre-ordeted meals to Chris and how he acted upon seeing her for the first time! Hated the WAGS, so phony/fake and messy. Chef Mabel was a hateful woman and I was hoping Jason would have quit too! I Love Amir and Imani becoming her true friends and the best part the LA stars won the championship! Julius finally got his ring. The proposal was so beautiful. I loved this story. J. Nicole great read!
J. Nicole, this is my second read by you. I enjoy this series. Chloe really got the chance to live her dream out. It's funny how a person is supposed to help you seems to only want to use you. Chris, hasn't ever went through what he's feelings. It surprised him he had to really concentrate on his situation. I just think these reads are good. They show the guys showing emotions and the woman are strong on their square. I can't wait to see who's next🤗🤗🤗🤗
I really enjoyed this story. Chloe and Chris were made for each other in every sense of the word. But when I tell I was ready to read a scene where Chef Mabel finally got what she deserved, I mean it. She was something else.
There’s something to be learned specifically from this book, follow your dreams and don’t allow someone else to push their dreams off on you. Great book. Now on to another one. Please enjoy it!
WOW! I keep saying this. Never disappointed. This was one great sports/love story. I love how the couple met and all the shenanigans he went through to prove his point. The sports incorporated into the story was spot on. If you like basketball and love love then this one hits it for you. It truly deserves more than 5 stars.
I like the way Chris and Cleo met. I thought that was humorous. I like that Chris was in hot pursuit Cleo wasn't having it. Cleo was desperately trying to keep her job. It's a love story that is really wonderful. Good group of friends, new and old and of course a haters. It was a pleasure reading this book 🥰.
I love the meet cue between Chloe and Chris. Chris saw her and the chase was on from there. I can’t stand when ex wife allegedly see you happy and want to hate on your love life in the present. Emma could have kept quiet with that mess and one good thing came out of it. He could divorce her for real this time around. Ms. J. Nichole loves this series!🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
Chris met Chloe as she was putting his weekly meal delivery in his refrigerator. He was smitten with her at first sight ! He was determined to see Chloe again and booked her for a catering job! Their second meeting sparks flew and Chris was determined to make her his! A great read!
I’m not into sports much but I enjoyed the characters in the series. I think the author did well showing positive traits in an athlete. She really normalized two families coming together even though they have totally different backgrounds.
J. Nichole, girl, you gon have me out here thinking my regular schmegular self can meet, fall in love with, and marry a basketball player, lol. The language is colorful and cute. I thought I was gonna have to square up with the FMC’s dad, boss, and a few of the wives. Loved this story! Can’t wait to continue to series.
My first introduction to this team was with Julius and Imani! I must say I was so relieved that Chole gave Chris less anxiety. However I did give her the side eye for sending g Chris back home on his first visit to her parents! Even in this book Imani was still up to her shenanigans.
If you love, love like me then this is a must read. This is book two of the series and the LA Stars players are turning out to be even better off the court. Book two was great and I love how Chris and Chloe's story played out. Just remember dreams are real and all you have to do is just believe.
I loved the characters especially Chole. She was determined to follow her dreams. She did not let her Dad or her mean spirited boss deter her from her goals. She was talented and wanted to share her cooking skills with everyone. Cute basketball story of love and support of each other.
Chris an Chloe are a terrific match. The journey they take is sweet to watch. When you can picture the characters and all that’s going on. You know it a good read. A bit steamy at times too.
This story started off with a good laugh! Chloe and Chris had a few snags before but they worked it out. Loved the interaction between their families! Can't wait for book 3!
So yes I love me some Chris. I love how he made Chloe his. Took her from up under Chef Mabel, encouraged her to pursue her dream from day one and got her the building and stood behind her from day day one!!! He promised her dad that he would support her and done just that!!!
Great Read! So glad Chloe found her worth and her courage not to give up on her dreams glad she saw them thru. And hats off to Chris for understanding it's more to life than sports and for giving himself another chance at love.
I love the dynamic between Chloe and her friend. I like that she’s not a quitter when things seem hard. I love that Chris knows what he wants and goes after it without shame.
This story was amazing. Going after your dream maybe out of box for people you love. But when you trust God and put in the work He will work it out for your good and this shown your can't get more then you dream
