Independent reviewer for GRR, I was gifted my copy of this book.
This is book 3 in the Three Ties trilogy, and I think it would help greatly to read book one; Three Ties To Bind, and book two; Three Hearts on The Line before this one. Not necessary, but I thinkit would help a great deal.
This, for me, is the best of the three and I think it might surprise you why.
In my reviews for books one and two, I said I struggled with the mindless internal rambling that all the guys did in those books. 6 guys, babbling away made for difficult reading and I did contemplate dumping those books. THIS one, however, I did not, at no point, think about dumping. I loved the internal ramblings of Val, Xaiden and Corbin! I really did !
We knew Xaiden suffered a tragic loss a long time agao, and he was still suffering from that, just not how deeply. We didn't know much about Corbin and Val though. All three men have suffered, diffierently, but deeply. All that internal rambling? Tells us all about these men, and how they suffered and their past; how they are now; how they feel about the others and their fears for the future. Both Xaiden and Corbin struggle the most with that.
What I especially loved was that none of these men have been in any sort of relationship with another man. Val knew he was gay, but just hadn't taken the leap. Corbin and Xaiden had relations with women, but meeting the others triggered something for them. I loved the natural progression of their physical relationship as well as the emotional one.
While I did love this book, I think it carries a much more darker tone than the other two books, but they aren't fluffy reads either! Val had a traumatic upbringing, Corbin's ex turns up in a twist I did not see coming, and Xaiden never forgave himself for what happened when he was 18.
As I said, I think this was the best of the three and as such, it can only get:
