After the events that drew them together, Ethan and Auris have grown into their feelings for one another. On their quest to discover other supernatural beings, Ethan will have to do some healing after the violence he experienced, and Auris, in order to help the man he loves do so, will share his past with Ethan.
While their relationship deepens, the pair finds something in Prague that they had hoped for but not expected: traces of another vampire. But that discovery brings with it a greater threat and more things between light and shadow they will have to deal with.
Content warning: Overexposed contains brief mention of self-harm and suicide.

We get information from Auris's past while the MCs are still trying to be safe from agents working against them. I can't wait to get to book 3 for more of this interesting series.
This is a beautifully written, gentle continuation of Ethan's and Auris' story. They settle more into their relationship and get to know each other better. Auris opens up about his past, which is like a short story within the story.
They travel, they meet new people, and there is danger again. Overexposed is much lighter than Illuminated (pardon the photography pun). Therein lies my only problem with this book: it lacked some sort of tension, action, excitement. It didn't take me to a point where I was anxious to see what would happen. There's nothing wrong with that but after Illuminated, I was expecting something more.
The story ends quite similar to Illuminated and this makes me wonder how it will continue and if we get to read something new in the next installment.
Overexposed continues Auris and Ethan's love story. The prose in this series are lightly poetic, playing with all the various meanings of lightness and darkness. Though it is a paranormal tale, the story is grounded. All the difficulties of life aren't shrugged off and left in the past. Ethan suffers from PTSD related to the events in book one. The couple must face the reality that they are hunted and don't know the faces of their enemies.
It's strange to read a book that takes place during the pandemic. But it fits with the pacing of the book. The feeling that we all got when the world shut down, how things were strange and could be scary, that matches well with Ethan's world being turned upside down by falling in love with an ancient vampire. As with book one, the author does a great job of making Auris feel like he is from days of old. I greatly enjoy that the character doesn't feel like he has all the same sensibilities of a modern human.
Ugh I didn’t want Auris and Ethan in Overexposed to end. I wanted the story to go on and on so I can sigh in their love for one another. It’s so sweet like how Auria calls Ethan his sweet.
‘Together in that blanket nest, we kissed and touched and nothing more. It wasn’t that I didn’t want to, but there was something about just sharing touch, about the intimacy that was to be had when you weren’t focused on getting naked and naughty together, that stirred something deep inside me. I wanted this, being held, being touched, bedded on pillows, and warmed by newly born fire. It was a little like a fairy tale, being here with my dark faerie prince, and I loved it.
Book 2 in Alexa Piper’ Vampire Tales series, Overexposed, is a wonderful addition to the series. As Arius and Ethan continue growing their love, Arius shares some of his past and Ethan considers what is best for their future.
Aware that demon stalking priests and agents are following them to Prague, Piper gives us rich and magical words that help place us in the middle of the action and danger.
Piper is a word wizard, as we feel the snow falling and icy winds, and the sunshine, heat, and ocean breezes.
Ethan and Auris’ story begins in book one of this series, and it’s a good idea to begin there, if you haven’t already. I appreciated the chance, in this story, to see their relationship develop, and for them to get to know each other better. There’s plenty of gentleness and care here, but it’s not all sweetness and light: there’s still the tension and peril attached to the overall plot arc, some lingering consequences of the events of the first story, and then, of course, the general oddness of a human/immortal pairing, no matter how fated/compatible they might be. I like, a lot, how distinctly *not* of this moment Auris is: he feels archaic in ways both large and small, and it adds, somehow, to the sweetness of the connection between him and Ethan and to the dreamlike, almost lyrical quality to some of the worldbuilding and relationship development. There’s clearly more to come for these two, and I can’t wait to see where their story goes next. 4.5 stars.
*I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
I loved seeing Ethan and Auris get closer both emotionally and physically and the way the author made the two aspects dependent on each other. These two can certainly generate heat, but it's because they are sharing their true selves with each other more and more as time goes on. Taking them to a version of Prague with its added paranormal elements made for a setting that felt both contemporary but still steeped in the vampire mythos we remember from Dracula and other classics. Those who would destroy Auris are still out there and their search continues for more paranormal beings. Can't wait for the next book in the series.
Not a standalone. Not too much really happens in this story, but what does is important. We also get some important parts of Auris’ history. Some new beings are introduced and more information is given on the group hunting vampires. I like that they are expanding their circle. Ethan can be pretty adorable, like the “date” thing. He makes his wishes known and takes initiative since Auris needs some help in some areas. Story is to be continued.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A beautiful continuation of Auris and Ethan's story. We get a closer look into Auris's past and see how he became a vampire. Ethan and Auris are just so sweet, and I just love them!!
Overexposed is the second book in the Vampire Tales series. This is not a standalone book, to really understand what's going on you should read book one Illuminated first. I love Auris and Ethan so much I didn't want the book to end. The guys have moved to Prague to find out about the vampire who was killed. This is a sweeter story than Illuminated. It still has action and danger. We get to learn more about Ruris' past. I would definitely recommend this book and series. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.
