I’m a country girl at heart, an author, a homesteader, and a lover of all things simple living. My passion lies in capturing the essence of the simpler side of life, much like the one I enjoyed growing up in rural Pennsylvania.
My life has always been intricately linked with Amish culture, and it’s only fitting that I have a deep, genuine love for their simplicity, sense of community, and God-centered way of living.
Growing up in Northwest Pennsylvania, I spent my childhood immersed in the heart of Amish Country. The rhythmic clip-clop of horse and buggies was my morning soundtrack as Amish men journeyed past my home to work. A pivotal moment in my young life was shaped by a tragic Amish murder, a story detailed in “Crimson Stain” by Jim Fisher. Jake, a key figure in that true story, was my uncle.
Now residing in South Carolina, my family and I frequently travel through the Amish regions of Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, and Wisconsin. These journeys are not just visits but research expeditions. I take pride in writing Amish fiction that authentically represents their culture, thanks to the invaluable insights from friends within these communities.

OH MY GOODNESS - If you have not met Tracy Fredrychowski and her friends from Willow Springs -do not deny yourself any longer. Even if you have not read Emma, Anna, or Rebecca's story you will love Barbara's story. Barbara's story is a tale of destiny. Her and her sister Susan grew up in a tangled web of deceit and a truly dysfunctional family. I have read Many of Ms. Fredrychowski's books and I must say this may be my favorite (until the next one)! If you love a story with a twist, a story with love, a story that teaches you a lesson, and a story that has FAITH - Look no farther - you will fall in love with Barbara, Susan, Roy, John and Joseph, there characters are well developed and you will grow to care about them all by the last page read. Great Reading again. I want to thank Ms. Fredrychowski for allowing me the privilege to read an advance copy of this wonderful book so that I can share my unbiased opinion, it is a true blessing to my reading experience.
Welcome back to Willow Springs! Tracy Fredrychowski does an amazing job of transporting you back to this small town. We get to know widowed mother Barbara Wagler in this story. Barbara’s husband died and she is trying to raise her two young boys. But she is forced to live and work near Joseph Wagler, her first love AND her brother-in-law. Barbara grew up in a strict and loveless family. The story mostly centers on Barbara and her relationship with her overly strict father and depressed mother. Tracy does a wonderful job of writing beautifully flawed characters. This story is a woman’s journey to forgive not only those who wronged her, but also for yourself. This is the fourth book in the series. I suggest reading the first three because they are so great! I’m hoping Barbara’s sister Susan gets her own story next. Or maybe a redemption story for Roy Mullet? Many thanks to the author for a complimentary copy of the book. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.
READ THIS BOOK IF YOU Enjoy a strong female character Appreciate a good series
I love Tracy Fredrychowski books and I love her writing. I truly enjoyed this 4 star read. I liked the plot and of course the way Tracy crafted the conversation between the characters was nothing short of amazing. My problem was that I really didn't like any of the characters with the exception of Joseph and his parents. It's very hard for me to review this book as this is the first time I have read a book where none of the main characters have resonated with me. Some of the secrets, in fact most, I guessed before they were exposed, but it was very well written from that perspective. If you have read the other books in The Women of Lawrence County series then you will want to read this one to complete the series. I am going to go back and read the other three and see if that changes anything I am feeling. I promise to add to this review if anything changes but it is certainly a book worth reading.
I could not put this book down. I was hooked from beginning and was on the edge of my seat. Many twist and turns will have you guessing till the end. The characters are amazing and oh my the story line will knock your socks off. When to many secrets from the past are revealed so come as a shock and others not so much. I was given a copy of this book to read and review. I am under no obligation to give a positive review.
Barbara’s Amish Truth Exposed by Tracy Fredrychowski Will this shame-filled believer ever allow God to heal her broken heart? Or will she carry the burden of her lie alone, permitting history to repeat itself? Barbara Wagler is filled with shame over dishonoring her husband’s memory. While the young Amish woman is devastated after her husband of five years dies in a farming accident, she is left to raise their sons alone. When her first love, Joseph Wagler, returns to Willow Springs, can they bury the past, or will widower Roy Mullet from Sugarcreek stir up trouble in Barbara and her sister Susan’s life? Still struggling to allow herself happiness, Barbara sets out on a journey to reveal the truth of her mistakes. But her honesty leads her to question God’s ultimate promises and her father’s sordid past. Can this woman continue to lie to herself, or will she find the courage to boldly go to God and allow him to lead her on a path of deliverance? This is Barbara Wagler and two sons Charles and Johnny's story. This is Susan Stutzman's story. This is Joseph Wagler's story. Barbara carried a cup of hot tea to the front porch and settled on the swing at the far end of the porch. Both boys followed, letting the screen door slam behind them. The air hung heavy with the spring soil. As the sun cascaded over her shoulder, she could almost see the final remnants of winter fade away before her eyes. Joseph’s tall, lanky form moved gracefully as he harnessed the two tan Belgian horses to the plow in front of the barn. The exceptionally warm spring day gave way to rolled-up shirt sleeves. I recommend reading. Barbara’s Amish Truth Exposed by Tracy Fredrychowski is a 4 star book. I am looking forward to reading more books by Tracy Fredrychowski. I received a copy of this book via the author. I was not required or asked to leave a positive review. THE AMISH WOMEN OF LAWRENCE COUNTY Emma's Amish Faith Tested – Book 1 Rebecca's Amish Heart Restored – Book 2 Anna’s Amish Fears Revealed – Book 3 Barbara’s Amish Truth Exposed – Book 4
First I have to say that I love anything that Tracy Fredrychowski writes. Her stories come from the heart and are well written. This is the fourth book in The Amish Women of Lawrence County Series. Barbara's story is one that is incredibly relatable. Coming from a dysfunctional family Barbara finds herself surrounded by lies and deceit to the point it physically makes her have bouts of sickness. Barbara's first husband John has died earlier and left her to raise her sons on her own after a farming accident. Having a father that has to be the most frustrating and unkind character, his attitude and actions towards Barbara will have readers on the edge of their seats. I became very angry with his heated attitude and what I would have thought of as cruel but he hides his secrets that come to light as the story unfolds. When John's brother Joseph comes back to help her on the farm and Roy Mullett whom she knew from Sugarcreek, Ohio comes on the scene Barbara is faced with navigating her way around both men. Roy is a character that will make you want to jump through the pages and give him a piece of your mind while Joseph is easy to love. His patience is strong even though he gets frustrated. Barbara has been her own enemy for a long time as the hurts from her childhood have clouded everything about her life. This is an amazing story of forgiveness. Throughout the book you can feel the authors heart in her writing. There is a strong element of biblical principal as well as verses that are pertinent to the story. I absolutely couldn't put the book down it was so good! Will Barbara be able to put her past behind her and make room in her heart for a man of honor where no lies stand between them and the love they have for one another? A definite 10 star book
Barbara’s Amish Truth Exposed is Book 4 in The Amish of Lawrence County Series by Tracy Fredrychowski One thing you can always count on with this Authors books is that it will be chuck full of Biblical scripture and page turning excitement. Barbara’s story is one that will or has effected us all with varying degrees of pain. It’s a story that will have you on your seat wondering how it will unfold all while praying Barbara will find peace with her past and heal from everything she has been through. Of course it’s not bad that yes there is a new romance brewing along the way, or will it dissolve before it gets off the ground? As I was reading this book it brought up some very familiar friend/ family pain and how dealing with that helped to relate to this storyline. This book shows how you can overcome years of heartache and move into a life full of love, faith and understanding. Each book in this series has been one of such heartfelt understanding, how to process and deal with real life situations. I am really looking forward to see where the rest of the books in this series takes us. If you have not started the series I’d highly suggest it. Barbra’s Amish Truth Exposed will prove to all how we need to not only walk through the past to arrive where we are truly meant to be in life but we need to walk in others shoes as well to fully appreciate out story, of course faith and Forgivness will always have to be forefront. I was gifted a copy of this book with no expectations of a review however I’m so pleased I could give this book five star rating.
I enjoy reading Tracy's stories. They are always full of inspirational lessons and messages.
This story is by far a unique one that touches points of Forgiveness to one self and others so that we may be at peace. Barbara's story is full of hurt, secrets, and yet in the middle of all that a good dose of God's message within it. She and her sister have grown up in a very hurtful environment only to grow up and follow in those steps themselves while feeling overwhelmed by wanting to separate themselves from the pull down their parents surrounded them. Now, in this story Barbara needs to come to accept and forgive the person that holds her captive, herself.
With twists and turns that you don't see coming the author navigates a story of hope and love. And the sisters come to cherish little details of the one that pushed them down....their father. But we can't leave it there, you'll meet Joseph which I adore. And Roy which will make you want to reach out and smack him :) but all the characters seemed to fit great in the story. I related to Susan because I tend to eat when I get upset and nervous especially sweets like her. Barbara was a touching character. And the ending although you got the feeling of what it would be, the ending was perfect. Willow Springs makes you want to jump in the pages and sit and chat with Joseph's mom, and I think you will enjoy it.
I received an ARC from the author for my personal honest comment. All here are my own.
This is Book #4 in The Amish of Lawrence county and while it is a heartwarming story it is one filled with emotional pain, shame, deception, secrets, lies, mystery, hardened hearts yet one of faith, forgiveness and romance. Some of the characters in the story are likeable; others not so much. This is Barbara's story, as well as her sister Susan. Barbara has not had an easy life living with her father who was very controlling and then losing her husband of five years in a farming accident. Upon her father's death, a neighbor reveals secrets about her father's past that cause Barbara to doubt herself and everything she knows or has been taught. Can she forgive her father as well as herself and learn to lean on God's love and faithfulness and overcome her heartache? Will she be able to build a new life for herself and her son and find love again? This story is a real page turner and is one that will cause you to pause and consider your own life and how much God loves us and is just waiting for us to seek him out to provide for our needs. Be sure and don't miss this story; I know it will touch your heart.
After a series of tragic events, Barbara is forced to face her traumatic past, as she raises her sons alone and wonders what their future holds. Immersed in family secrets and her father’s and husband’s poor decisions, she must make a choice: she can hold onto unforgiveness or surrender it all to God. Through it all, she learns that the trials before her can either be “stumbling stones or building blocks.” She can choose to remain bitter, or move on and grow. I have loved every one of Tracy Fredrychowski’s books and this one is no exception. Besides just a good story, she weaves in Biblical truths that are easily applicable to our lives. This book teaches a truth that we all need to hear: the past does not have to define us; God will always give us a fresh start if we will let Him. He is trustworthy, and His plans are better that what we could ever imagine for ourselves. Barbara’s story can be read as a stand-alone book. But I highly recommend the first 3 in the series for more background into the other characters. *I received a free copy of this e-book from the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This author has a reputation for writing captivating Amish books but I believe that Barbara's Amish Truth Exposed may be her best yet! I was totally fascinated by this thought-provoking story that's filled with intriguing characters, untold secrets, and some heavy topics that you don't normally see in Amish fiction. Alcoholism, physical abuse, and marital infidelity are mentioned in a story that reminds us that Amish people aren't immune from pain and heartache. Author Tracy Fredrychowski doesn't sugarcoat these topics but she does remind us that all of these are forgivable acts.
This story has many deceptions that need to be revealed, numerous secrets needing to be unveiled, and multiple hurts that need healing, but it is still a tale that encourages and inspires. Fredrychowski shares many biblical truths in her engrossing book of hope, faith, and redemption. I highly recommend Barbara's Amish Truth Exposed!
I voluntarily accepted a copy from the author. There was no obligation for a favorable review. These are my own thoughts.
I’m glad Elsie spoke up when she did. Susan can’t marry Roy because he is her brother. He m also agreeing with the advice of Joseph’s Father. Forgiveness is the beginning of the end of generational sin. This time I am quoting the final prayer from the book:
“Lord, I surrender every part of my life to you. The past, the present, and the future. Search me, Lord, for anything that I may be holding onto. I want a story built on faith and healing in walking in step with you. Help me leave generations of sin behind to move forward to a life solely committed to You. Please safeguard my heart from past hurts and reveal Your will daily to me. I pray Your strength will overcome my weakness, and I will continue to live a life of forgiveness. In Jesus’s name, amen.”
— Barbara’s Amish Truth Exposed: An Amish Fiction Christian Novel (The Amish Women of Lawrence County Book 4) by Tracy Fredrychowski https://a.co/g29Y2fI
Barbara’s Amish Truth Exposed by Tracy Fredrychowski is a touching Amish tale. There are a variety of characters in the story. I liked some of them and others I did not (which was the point). I felt for Barbara and her sister, Susan. Neither one had a pleasant childhood. Their father is a controlling, mean spirited man who did his best to make his family members lives miserable. I thought the characters were realistic and developed. As the story progressed, secrets and deceits are revealed. I was able to anticipate a couple of them, but others were unexpected. In this story, we can see how sin and deceptions can invade any family and community. We get to see how the characters deal with their past hurts. With love, understanding, forgiveness, and faith, a person can move forward to have a fulfilling life. Barbara’s Amish Truth Exposed is the fourth novel in The Women of Lawrence County series. Each book can be read as a standalone, but I have enjoyed reading each book in this touching series. Faith and forgiveness are at the forefront of this story. I appreciated the scripture references. Barbara’s Amish Truth Exposed is an expressive tale with a worried widow, a lost love, a selling savvy sister, distressing reminisces, shameful secrets, and finding forgiveness.
Tracy Fredryshowski is one of my favorite authors of Amish fiction. This is her 4th book in the Amish Women of Lawrence County series. I love how Tracy uses situations that we all might deal with and weaves them into a compelling story. In this story Tracy uses God’s Grace and the power of forgiveness in Barbara’s life. Barbara is a widow raising her two boys on her own. She has two suitors in her life, one man, Joseph is her first love. How will she find happiness? Will she learn to forgive herself? Will she learn to forgive Joseph? Will she ultimately turn to God to find the help she needs. Tracy is a wonderful writer and I love the simple messages portrayed in her books.
I received an advanced copy of this book. I am not required to leave a review. The comments and opinions expressed are strictly my own.
I have been reading Tracy Fredrychowski's books for some time. She is incredible at bring descriptive realism to her characters. This 4th in a series is no different. I absolutely loved this book! Barbara's secrets, and feelings and actions/reactions touches the soul of those that read this book. Her life as an Amish woman/widow, her struggles with her parents and also her sister were similar to my own in my early years. Many tears flowed as I reached the end of Barbara's many struggles. Read this book - you will not be sorry! I was one of the lucky ones to be able to recieve a pre-launch copy. I was only asked to give an honest review.
So far in this series, especially in this book #4, it has taught me, at the age of 65 that in our lives of growing up there has been our wrongs, our lies, our deceit and our hatefulness as our loving that will catch up to us. This book made me look back at my life and see my mistakes as in this book. I learnt so many biblical truths. As I asked forgiveness but why after all these years it is coming back at me, the answer is you never forgave yourself. This is only one of the lesson’s you will learn along with how so many generations of evil, lies and hatred finally comes to God’s grace and forgiveness and understanding.
I couldn't put this book down (stayed up past midnight to finish). I had to see what would happen or be revealed next. As with all of the Tracy Fredrychowski books I have read, it was captivating, and full of many Biblical truths. Forgiveness being essential to our growth as Christians. I did guess the one big truth that was revealed at the end, as I am sure others will, but that did not take away from my enjoyment of reading this. I was given an advanced copy of this and am giving my own opinion.
Wow! This book is the 4th one in The Amish Women of Lawrence County. It had me from page 1 and would not let go. So many secrets and lies, so much self preservation, and hardening of the hearts towards loved ones. Then when the truths started being revealed, I was totally shocked. Talk about a roller coaster ride for your emotions! Now that’s what makes an awesome book. Check out this authors other books, especially the ones in the series. You will not be disappointed.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book for my honest opinion. All words are my own.
This was an extremely interesting book because it was very different from most Amish books I’ve read. This story involves the lives of the two sisters, the oldest is a widow and the younger is still living with her parents. When their very controlling father has a heart attack and dies, secrets are revealed by their neighbor. The author handles the subject matter of this story so well that you find yourself unable to put the book down.
I received an advance reader copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review.
This was a captivating read as the secrets held in Barbara's heart cause her unhappiness, and many worries to deal with. She is burdened by the weight of past history events in her life. Will she find peace and happiness and have the life she certainly wants. The actions of her father's past continue to bring her great stress and sadness. Will she ever feel peace in her life? This is truly a story of forgiveness, love and the Love of God.
I received a complimentary copy. All thoughts are my own.
Oh This was a very interesting book. It was a lil different than the others. But I loved reading it. 1st let me say. Abuse is horrible. In this book there is evil. I call it. And abuse. But I loved the way Tracy had it in the book and how she ended it. The true love is so endearing. I adore reading about the real true love. The Elder ladies are so sweet. They add a charming part. Love how the Amish ways are added throughout. I will miss this series. this book is more about sisters than just Barbara. It was so good. I highly recommend this book. Series and Author. It is a fantastic read

As with the other books in this series, it has a meaning behind it. This one is forgiveness. Barbara had a hard life with her father and so many things happened. She had to learn how to forgive him and also forgive others along the way.. this has a lot of different emotions as you read it, so have the tissues ready. I was gifted an early ARC copy from the author. I was not required or asked to leave a review. All thoughts are my own..
This is a great story on the importance of forgiveness and how we all struggle to forgive. The story is a relatable one for anyone who's past holds them back from living their best life. It's definitely a story full of dysfunction, lies, deceit, stress and more.
Great read in the Amish Women of Lawrence County series.
Disclaimer: I received a digital copy of this book from the author with no expectation in return. I've voluntarily chosen to share my honest thoughts above.
Barbara's Amish Truth Exposed From Tracy Fredrychowski Is a very well written clean Amish romance based on Christian principles. It is a story with many emotions, pain sadness and problems. The story is very well put together and you get to know the characters well. It is a captivating story that keeps your interest until the end.
It's been awhile since I've been to Laurence county and coming back didn't disappoint. Tracy has become my favorite author in this genre. This story on forgiveness hit home with me as I have a lot of similar issues in my own family. I was reminded through this story how hanging on to bitterness can hurt your relationship with Jesus.
A good story that had me guessing as to what the secret was. A book that includes mystery and romance. And I hated to put it down, and wanted to read more as to what Barbara’s life became. Well written Amish story. I received a copy of this book and all opinions are mine.
This one was good as the others, but this one got me thinking about all the un- forgiveness I had in my own heart that held me bondage to my past and generational curses. Can’t wait to read Allie in May.
A beautiful Christian-based story that explores the effects of deception and secrets of 2 Amish families. While I've read a lot of Amish fiction, this book really portrayed how generational sins and lies can infiltrate any community regardless of their lifestyle or religious beliefs. The secrets that were gradually revealed throughout the story kept me engaged, and I was anxious to find out what would happen. I loved the complexity of the characters and how you cheered for some and felt frustration with others. The underlying theme was that resentment not only harms us but can also hinder our relationship with Jesus. Forgiveness and truth are the path to happiness. Wonderful book with a special message!
