Cody Madsen has stayed away from Olivia Dixon for almost two years—technically. Even though he talks to her every day and sees her every weekend. But there’s no kissing, touching, or telling her how he really feels.
Olivia wants what her three sisters have—true love. She could almost believe she’s found it with Cody, if it weren’t for the fact that he’s her older brother’s best friend and her brother won’t have it.
She needs to move on. Fall in love with someone else once and for all.
Her solution? The “Perfect Pick” dating site where they can each finally find love.
But how will she handle someone else being his soul mate?
Or someone else being hers?

Erin Nicholas is the New York Times bestselling author of over sixty sexy contemporary romances. Her stories have been described as toe-curling, enchanting, steamy and fun.
She lives in the Midwest with her husband who only wants to read the sex scenes in her books, her kids who will never read the sex scenes in her books, and family and friends who say they’re shocked by the sex scenes in her books (yeah, right!).
Anyone who reads my reviews over Erin Nicholas’ books knows that I adore her as well as her work! Going for Four is NO exception! This has been my very favorite book by Erin by far. I love Cody. I mean……I LOVE LOVE LOVE him! Going for Four follows two best friends in their journey to try and resist their attraction of each other. Olivia and Cody are in the perfect relationship with each other with the exception of amazing sex. They love each other, they have fun together, they bake together and they even watch romantic movies together! It seems perfect, right? Well, too bad that Cody’s best friend also happens to be Olivia’s brother and he isn’t too keen on the idea of them “hooking up”. This book provides the right amount of drama, frustration (sexual and otherwise!), hot sex and laugh out loud moments. It also has a lot of those swoon-worthy moments that I am SO fond of! As always, here are some of my favorite lines! **Stop reading if you don’t want any spoilers!**
"This is, apparently, how I look when I'm trying with every fiber of my being not to kiss you."
"Make sure.....he.....deserves you."
“So the fact that I think you look fucking hotter than hell but you know I will keep my hands to myself, listen to all your stories and have a real interest in your new recipe for wild berry blintzes doesn’t matter at all?”
“What I’m having a hard time believing,” he said, definitely not letting it go, “is that there’s another woman out there who I could feel as strongly-or more strongly-about than I do about you.” **sigh**
“Yea, well, our rules don’t work with a shit anyway,” he said. “We can follow them to a T and I still want you more than anything I’ve ever wanted. I get hard when I smell your hair and when I hear you laugh and when you put lip gloss on and when you wear sandals.”
"Hang on, sweet pea. What else do you need? I meant it when I said I'll do anything."
"I'm the luckiest son of a bitch in the world," he told her sincerely. "I promise to work on being worthy." See........***SWOOOON***
"I wanted you," he said, softly but firmly. "I wanted you so damned bad, I didn't know what to do. The other women, every single one, were about trying to find someone who could help me forget you. It never worked."
This is the 4th book in the Counting On Love series. It’s not necessary to read them all in order, but I HIGHLY suggest you don’t miss out on the other books! They are great as well!! You’ll love this one, I’m sure of it! Happy reading!
For those of you that follow me here or on Twitter or Facebook, you know that Erin Nicholas is one of my favorite authors. So when she sent me this one in her Counting on Love series, you know I had to drop what I was doing to read this. And read I did. Late into the night until my eyes betrayed me and wouldn't stay open, then started back up the next morning until I finished it a couple hours later. I may have ignored my boys and let them play and watch tv all morning too. :)
So we have Cody Madsen, Conner Dixon's best friend, and Olivia Dixon, Conner's baby sister whom he is very protective of. There has always been a spark between the two but after a naughty kiss around baking some cookies, they both decided, for different reasons on both ends, that it would be best not to pursue anything between them because of Conner. At this point, I was really feeling for them both. The sexual tension between the two was practically jumping off the pages. And not just the sexual tension but you could tell that they genuinely liked and respected each other and enjoyed being in the other person's company. Which led them to their agreement that they can only be friends. Neither wants to dampen the other person's relationship with Conner. This goes ok for almost two years until there is an incident where Cody accidentally sees Olivia naked. Then a decision is made that they each go on a blind dating site to be set up on dates, much to Cody's dislike. But whether it be fate or something else, they find themselves at the same places each time when they went on their dates. And the story only gets better and better from here.
From reading the previous three books in this series, I was really looking forward to Cody and Olivia. Olivia was always the quiet, reserved one and Cody seemed like a great guy so I knew they would be great together but wanted to know why they weren't together. I mean come on. Who wouldn't want to date the fire chief? AND he bakes. Yes, you read that right. He bakes with Olivia all the time. And not just because she likes to but he does too. That is sexy! And did I mention the whole fire chief thing already? I did? Well let me say it again. FIRE CHIEF- which means sexy, muscular, in charge man. YUM. We get to see Cody in action at some scenes too. A few even had me cringing and speeding up my reading to see what happens. Thanks for almost giving me a heart attack a few times Erin. I really appreciate it. :p
Throughout this book, I was in the background routing and doing the whole whoop whoop arm pumping, cheering on thing, hoping it would help bring Cody and Olivia together. I was definitely whooping when Olivia put Conner in his place. In front of a very interesting club no less. GOING FOR FOUR was everything I expected and more. So if you want to read an addicting story about how two best friends fall hard and fast for each other, pick up a copy today! And you might as well go pick up the others in the series because it is AWESOME!! I hope y'all get addicted just like me! :)
If you’ve been following Erin Nicholas on twitter or facebook, you might have seen her post short stories about Cody and Olivia that took place 2 years prior to Going for Four -- their first kiss and their deal to remain good friends despite their feelings for each other. You don’t necessarily need to read these short stories, but it’s just nice to understand the background of their story. (What’s great is you can read these scenes in Erin’s recently released prequel “Just Count on Me!”)
Now onto Going for Four… the opening scene immediately grabs your attention because hello! Cody accidentally catches Olivia just getting out of the shower naked! How is Cody supposed to react to seeing his best friend without any clothes? They are already struggling to fight their attraction for each other without taking it any further because they don’t want to upset Olivia’s brother and Cody’s best male friend, Conner.
Olivia comes up with an idea that in order for them not to give into their feelings for one another they need to date other people. Cody doesn’t necessarily like this idea, but he goes along with it. Olivia thinks the best way to do this is by signing them both up to online dating sites. Olivia helps Cody set up his profile, but she doesn’t know which of his pictures to choose. She doesn’t want to share any of Cody’s pictures that bring back special memories for her. So she changes her mind. She doesn’t want them to have an online dating profile that shows their picture. She wants them to join the Love is Blind program that goes by compatibility. It’s objective and not based on appearance. They both agree this sounds better and will not help each other set up the other’s profile. It needs to be a secret, so they wouldn’t know each other’s profile name. Olivia also suggests they don’t know when the other goes on their respective date.
Without giving too much away, this is where the fun begins. These online dating sites are supposed to pair them up with other people, but why do Olivia and Cody end up always being together? Why resist the inevitable? And how does Conner take the news?
Also, there’s a scene near the end that involves Conner! Funniest scene ever! lol I absolutely LOVED this story so much! Can’t say anything else about Erin’s work! She is truly a wonderful author, who knows how to captivate her readers and never disappoints. I didn’t even put this book down! I read it in 1 day! Can’t believe this series is about to end, but I am definitely looking forward to Conner and Gabby’s book, Up by Five, in April!
Hot damn! Can you say damn in a review? But I can think it. I absolutely loved the fourth book in this series. I love the whole friends to lovers theme to begin with. But how can you seriously not love a book where a man feeds your sweet tooth both in the kitchen and in the bedroom????
Cody and Olivia were two peas in a pod. And I have been wanting their story since I first heard about it. They are the sweet ones, the nice ones, right? They were that and so much more. I think I devoured, I mean read, this book with a silly smile on my face throughout most of it. These two characters pulled at my heart strings and made me want to push them together and say "Stop, be still, listen!!! You and You, together now!"
So many great scenes with Olivia and her sisters. Love how frank they are in their discussions! Hilarious! Makes me wish I had sisters. And the reappearance of all the men from The Bradford series as well as the ones from this one - HELLO!!! Love me some Mac and Shane!
Another great story from Ms. Nicholas that only makes me want more from her, this series and her men!
Erin has done it again. I was honored with an ARC copy and I loved it!! This is my favorite book yet!! Olivia is an amazing, kind, sweet, generous girl that thinks about everyone before herself! Cody is Olivia's brothers best friend and also one of her protectors. Cody has become her best helper in the kitchen. She has fallen in love with Cody over time but won't tell him because of their friendship. Once temptation is to much they test out the waters with a kiss and Cody runs for the hills. Olivia finally talks to the sisters and gets advice that helps her. They decide to try a relationship and things get revealed from Cody's past and now Olivia has some thinking to do and Cody has some proving to do. Cody and Olivia are perfect for each other but will they with stand corners approval??? Chocolate chip cookies will never have the same meaning again! This is a hot and amazing book it's a must read series also!!
I've always said that if a book can illicit a strong emotion from me (sobbing, anger) the writer has done their job well.
This book (in order) made me swoon, fan myself, get angry and then get all upset and is, up to now, my favourite of this series.
There's hot sex, cookies, more hot sex and even more cookies happening everywhere.
Oh and a stroppy brother.
The best advice I can give is start the series from the beginning. The stories interweave and characters from other books appear.
Erin Nicholas will always be one of my favourite authors, and whilst this maybe a genre I now only dip into once in a while, her books will always be an autobuy for me.
While I have loved everything Erin Nicholas writes, I must say that "Going for Four" has moved into the top two of my favorite books! Her characters are so sweet, sexy and funny, but not without their flaws which make them real. I never know where the story will go, and this one surprised me! Fresh, funny and fabulous! Read "Going for Four", don't miss it!
I was lucky enough to get an ARC for this book and I'm so glad I did because this is my most favorite book in the Counting on Love series. Going for Four Counting on Love 4 is Olivia and Cody's story, best friends turned lovers. This book is chock full of laughter, sweetness, tears...and chocolate chip cookies (even a decadent recipe at the end!). I love that these two are friends first and foremost and nothing can tear them apart...although Conner sure gives it a good try!
I look forward to Erin Nicolas books and this one was no exception. Going for Four is a must read. Go out and order this book now...you won't be disappointed!
Erin Nicholas does it again! Love the characters in this series and the friends to lovers theme. What is not to like about a guy who will come bake with you? Can't wait for the fifth book in this series!!
Fantastic addition to the Counting on Love series, I loved Olivia and Cody and their story was sweet and sexy! Erin Nicholas once again does it, a keeper! :-)
Another fantastic story by Erin Nicholas! This is book four in the Counting on Love series and one of my favorite stories. I have loved reading every story that came before this one, but what I really like is that no matter how much I enjoy one of Erin’s books the next one is just as good or even better than the last. Her stories are always hot and steamy, and they feel so real to life that they will make you laugh, cry, and even want to scream at a few of the characters while you’re falling in love with them. Her stories are so well written that I can picture the scenes very clearly as I’m reading.
Olivia Dixon is the youngest of four girls, and she really wants to experience true love just like her sisters. She believes in romance and true love and thinks she could have that with her best friend Cody even though they have never even kissed. The only problem is that her older brother has forbidden his best friend to date his baby sister. She knows she should trust her brother, but...
Cody Madsen is Olivia’s boss, and he’s also her best friend. He sees her every day and has kept his feelings for her to himself knowing that her brother does not want them together as a couple, but he does not know how much longer he can keep from not kissing her or seeing where that kiss may lead them.
Olivia decides that they both need to join a match making site before they do something with one another that may destroy their friendship and ruin her brother’s trust in both of them. Some unexpected dates occur that cause them to look at their relationship more closely. Will dating other people push them apart or make them realize that their feelings for each other are worth all the risks?
I absolutely loved the relationship between Olivia and Cody. And I will be seeing chocolate chip cookies in a whole new way.
Wow! I am a huge Erin Nicholas fan and I am a huge fan of contemporary romance and I can confidently say this is the best contemporary romance novel I have ever read.
This story has it all! It has hot steamy scenes. It has friends to lovers (my favorite). It has all the characters I have grown to love throughout the Bradford and Counting on Love series. And Erin Nicholas writes in a voice that I find refreshing, yet comfortable. And Erin Nicholas writes with a style that feels effortless and natural. Her ability to make a reader feel like part of the story and not just an observer is amazing. You come to feel as a part of this group of friends.
The bonus story "Tidings of Comfort and Schnapps" (bonus found in Just Count on Me) introduces you to the Cody and Olivia story. (You do not have read Tidings before Going for Four, but it is a nice little bonus). I absolutely love the hero and heroine in this story. Cody is my dream man - seriously. And I love that Olivia shows everyone that she is not the little innocent damsel that needs to be watched over and protected by everyone. Going for Four not only has the friends to lovers storyline, but throw in that the hero's best friend is the heroine's older, overprotective brother and you have an amazing powder keg in the making.
This book could easily be read as a stand alone, but I HIGHLY suggest reading the whole series. Better yet, start with the Bradfords and work your way through the Dixons.
What an outstanding book. The Counting on Love series just keeps getting better. Ms. Nicholas has a way of weaving a story so you care about the characters like family. When they hurt, you hurt and when they’re happy you breathe a big old sigh of relief. It’s easy to become so engrossed that time seems to just drift away. Going for Four will build you up and then drop your heart into your toes (never fear it’ll drag it back up where it belongs in the end). I fell in love with Cody. First of all, he bakes. Second, his devotion to Olivia was awe inspiring. He wanted to give her everything she needed even if that wasn’t necessarily him (of course it was him all along). I’ll take the chocolate chip cookie any day. I related to Olivia at nearly every point of this book. I understood her desire to please everyone, to easy forgive but more so to have an epic love. I think deep down we all want that grand gesture from the one we love but it’s those little things every day that truly mean the most. Cody and Olivia’s story is one of those rare books that will stay with you long after it’s finished. Well done.
WOW Erin you did it again!!! Each of your books in the series keeps getting better and better. And the storylines are just amazing. I can't wait for #5.
Olivia and Cody are unbelievable. He will do anything for her and if need be stay "just her friend" , just to be close to her. A friendship before love is a wonderful foundation to a good romance. Cody and Olivia have just that an awesome foundation. They enjoy each other company in all kinds of settings.
With a dating service and some chocolate chip cookies, they fall madly in love!!!
Keep up the great writing Erin!!!! Thanks for the ARC.
I expected big things out of this book, knowing Erin Nicholas and what she is capable of doing. Wow, did she ever deliver on this one. Her imagination is incredible. Her writing just keeps getting better and better. I literally could not put this book down. I think I went through every emotion - joy, fear, anger, sadness, elation. I felt every one right with the characters. To me, that is the sign of great writing. Olivia and Cody have an amazing story. And it was nice to see that our "Mr. Perfect", big brother, Conner, is not so perfect after all. Great story, great characters, not to be missed.
Erin Nicholas is solid in her writing and use of humor in this awesome update to a friends turned lovers, you've got mail, twist. A fun and quick read that will leave you steamy and wanting to read it again and again.
Great job Erin and keep those awesome characters coming!
I loved this book so much and the romance aspect was only a small part of why I loved it, which is kind of strange but in a good way. First off, I’m a huge fan on Erin Nicholas’ writing. I’ve been reading her for years and I can’t get enough of her quirky characters, the fun that’s always present in her books, and of course the smoldering sexiness. Going For Four offered all of that and more because in addition to the great cast of her Counting for Love series, the crew from her Bradford Family & Friends series was very present in this story which made my heart so happy. I loved the interactions between the two groups of characters and while we’ve seen a little of this before, there was something really special about the scenes in this book. There was a camaraderie that was unmistakable which only went to remind me how much I’ve enjoyed both these series. For that alone, I enjoyed this book immensely and the romance between Cody Madsen and Olivia Dixon was only a small reason why it was just the extra chunk chocolate in a supreme chocolate chip cookie!
Cody and Olivia have know each other for years and over the last couple have become very good friends often spending time together watching movies, having dinner and baking. It’s there thing and while they both admit to an extreme attraction to one another, they refuse to act on it because of Connor, Olivia’s big brother and Cody’s best friend. So, they have rules in place to keep them from acting on their attraction but as fate would have it a rule is broken accidentally and what’s been seen can’t be unseen and things begin to change rapidly for Cody and Olivia.
I really loved the friendship between Cody and Olivia and yes the sexual tension was pretty damn spectacular. There was no doubt there was a great respect and even love that flowed between them. It pleased me that Olivia’s sisters were all very supportive of her and Cody being together. But, the road to a romantic relationship between them is full of potholes making it a very bumpy ride.
In between Cody and Olivia trying to figure out their relationship there are some fires to be fought, a few trips to the hospital bringing in the paramedic crews we’ve all grown to love, as well as the group from St. Anthony’s hospital. There’s some great groveling featuring some lovely homemade desserts and oh a trip to a sex club…yes, this book has it all!
I read this book with a smile plastered on my face; it was that funny and the dialog so witty that I couldn’t help myself. Erin Nicholas is really a master at creating such strong circles of friends and then blending them together perfectly to make an even bigger and better group. Going For Four while a romance is so much more; this book proves that friendship is key to any healthy relationship and the more friends you have the better!
Olivia and Cody had a wonderful friendship and they didn't want to jeopardize it with the attraction they felt for one another . Cody was Olivia's brother best friend and that was the main reason for Olivia and Cody not taking it to the next level, boy did those two want to kick it up a notch, but Connor, Olivia's brother was totally against those two getting together, because of something that happened in Cody s past(Connor made me mad at times).
These two can't fight there attraction and love for one another. It was a beautiful story to read as these two go through the journey of becoming a true couple and all it entails. Love Olivia's sister and their husbands helping these two get together.
I LOVED Olivia, absolute loved her. She was sweet, kind and beautiful. But she also learned too stand up for herself and speak her mind too. She was perfect for Cody.
Loved Cody too. What a hot hero. He worked so hard to win Olivia over and that made me love him even more. And boy, he loved to bake with Olivia, whats not to love.
Very enjoyable read. Had all the elements that I love in romance.
I was so excited for this book to come out, and it didn't take me long to finish it! It's one of those you didn't want to put down, and I didn't. But you don't mind losing a little sleep when you have something like this to entertain you. This is one of those stories that has 'friends turn to lovers' in it, who try to resist each other, which I love personally. Erin Nicholas has a way of really bringing her characters to life, and Cody and Olivia were very 'real' to me. Of course It's hard to resist a hot fireman, and a cutie patootie like Olivia. Their plan to use an online dating services to find their 'Soul Mates' was fun, and added to the realism of the story. If you are looking for a great series, I would strongly recommend you start with Erin's Bradfords series, which comes before this Counting On Love series. That way you get to meet a lot of her wonderful characters, and their friends/family dynamics. Very fun reading!
I adore this series from Nicholas about the Dixon family, and I was so excited to read more about Olivia, the good sister who doesn’t like to rock the boat.
Olivia feels as if she owes so much to her brother, Conner, and she hates disappointing him. So although she is wildly attracted to her best guy friend, Cody, she isn’t ready to act on it because of his friendship with Conner. But the attraction between her and Cody is off the charts, and the only solution she can see is to date someone else.
The last thing Cody wants is to date someone else, but if that is what Olivia wants, he’s willing to take the chance. The only problem is that they keep getting thrown together. After trying to find someone else, they realize they really are best together. But getting Connor on board with their relationship is a hurdle that isn’t easily cleared.
I’ve adored Olivia in this series, so getting to see her front and center was so wonderful. I love the fact that she was so devoted to Connor, even if that devotion was to the extreme. I’m always a big fan of the brother’s best friend trope, but I thought Nicholas did a wonderful job of tweaking it a bit, by giving Connor and Cody a troublesome history when it comes to seeing each other in relationships. I loved that the biggest hurdle in this book was overcoming Connor’s stereotype of Cody, and finding a way to be together.
Cody was such a great hero. Despite the mistake of his past that caused Connor to not trust him with Olivia, Cody was so sweet and alpha and adorable. I loved the way he and Olivia were so determined to make their friendship work, despite the sexual tension that clawed at them constantly. I thought their baking nights and movie moments were so sweet, and it just went to show how deeply in love Cody was with Olivia from the very start.
Their romance was so incredible. I loved the fact that they struggled with maintaining a strict friendship. But as they decided to date other people, I love the way they were continuously thrown together one way or another. I especially loved when we found out how sneaky Cody was being, and how Olivia was forced to react to it. I loved the way Olivia made Cody wait for her, to be sure that what they had was real.
I am so excited for Connor’s book. Nicholas does such an amazing job writing secondary characters, that I’ve already fallen head over heels for Connor. I can’t wait to see how his story unfolds, and how the Dixon family will wrap up their HEAs.
All in all I really liked the fourth book in the Counting on Love series. I thought Cody and Olivia were so perfect together, and their romance was one of my favorite in the series to date. Nicholas has absolutely become a must-buy author for me! I give Going for Four a B+
This has quickly become one of my favorite Erin Nicholas books. I can’t lie that all of her books are amazing but Going For Four had something special.
Having already read the first 3 books in the Counting On Love series I knew I would love Olivia and Cody but I was unaware how much you would grow to love them, and want to smack them at the same time. I think that’s why I love Erin’s writing so much. Her characters are real. You don’t always agree with what they are doing but you understand that life’s not always fair and caring sometimes means doing things that hurt yourself to save others.
Olivia and Cody have been friends for quite a while but the sparks that fly between the two are off the charts hot. They are both living a huge lie that friends is the only thing they want to be because of Olivia’s highly overprotective brother who also happens to be Cody’s teammate and one of his best friends.
I might have binge read this in one sitting because I simply couldn’t put it down. I now also have a huge craving for something sweet!
Cody and Olivia are perfect for each other but will they get Connors approval??? Chocolate chip cookies will never have the same meaning again! This is a hot and amazing book it's a must read series also!!
The books in the Count On Love series by Erin Nicholas just gets better and better. Going For Four is Cody and Olivia's story and it started off with an eye-opening, jaw dropping, mouth-watering scene that left poor Cody speechless. OMG! I loved this scene and what a fantastic way to begin this story. I was hooked and devoured the entire book in one sitting. I am a huge fan of best friends who fall in love stories and that of not getting involved with your friend's sister. Going For Four was both and I loved watching Cody and Olivia struggle to keep their hands and lips off each other. There were lots of fun and sexy moments throughout this book and my favorite part involved Olivia's brother, Conner near the end that had me laughing so hard. It was priceless and the author nailed it with that scene. Another awesome story by one of my favorite authors and a series I have come to love. I cannot wait to read Conner's story next.
Erin Nicholas is like a bartender! She took every amazing quality in all the romance heroes across the board. Put them in a blender and mixed them together! Her drink she just created was THE CODY! From the opening sentence of this book you were hooked! It was one of those books where you start to read and before you know it the book is over. Just like your favorite drink. You don't realize the punch it packs til you stand up. You will be drunk on love with Cody's romantic side, his sweet talking, delicious baking skills, his butterflies in the belly , weak in the knees, personality! Poor Olivia didn't stand a chance! She was a goner the minute she tasted him! This book is a must read and reread!!!!!!!
One of my favorites! Erin Nicholas provides another treat for you with this fourth book in her Counting on Love series! I can't say this is my favorite so far in this series, because they are all awesome. But, I really enjoyed Cody and Olivia's story. This is a kind of friends-to-lovers story with a twist, and nobody does it better than Erin! Do not hesitate to to pick up this book. You will not regret it. Cannot wait for #5!
GOING FOR FOUR is the best book she has ever written. It captures you from the moment you start reading. If you are not already an Erin Nicholas fan, you will be after you read Going for Four!
Blurb: It’s either true love…or the biggest mistake they’ve ever made. Hot firefighter Cody Madsen has stayed away from Olivia Dixon for almost two years—technically. Even though he talks to her every day and sees her every weekend. But there’s no kissing, touching, or telling her how he really feels. Because they’re just friends. Anything more than that would mean crossing the line that Olivia’s older brother has firmly drawn between them. Olivia wants what her three sisters have—true love. She could almost believe she’s found it with Cody, if it weren’t for the fact that he’s her older brother’s best friend and her brother won’t have it. And he’s never steered her wrong before. Her head is telling her to trust her brother, but her heart won’t let go of Cody. Her solution? A dating site where she and Cody can each find their “Perfect Pick” once and for all. But when the site yields some unexpected results, their real feelings come front and center. And they have to decide if it’s worth the risk to cross the line from friendship to love after all. Warning: Contains a starry-eyed romantic, a wannabe knight in shining armor, and chocolate chip cookies. A lot of chocolate chip cookies.
Thoughts: Erin Nicholas has rapidly become one of my favorite authors, and this book as a perfect example of exactly why that is. From her attention grabbing opening lines to the witty banter between the characters, to the realistic content yet the amazingly fun vibe that envelopes you as you read it, it's impossible not to be amazed by her writing style. I only discovered Erin with the release of She's The One (the first book in this series) and I have since went back and starting working my way through her backlist - so that tells you what an amazing author she is! With that being said, I have to say how much I LOVED Going For Four! Up until this one, I have to say that She's The One was my favorite of this series - but I believe that Going For Four even managed to eclipse that one. Maybe. It's a really close call!
What did love about it? One thing I love about Erin and her books is her fearlessness in conquering those topics or things that just seem to get swept to the sidelines elsewhere. For me, that 'taboo' topic was Olivia's orgasms! I'm not going to go into too much detail and give it all away, but we know that achieving the Big 'O' is a little different for women than for men. It was amazing to get hit with a little bit of the reality of that in a romance book. Don't worry though - there is still heat enough to singe the pages! As for what else I loved, for those of you who know me or have read previous reviews of mine, one of my utmost favorite troupes or themes in a book is that 'best friends to lovers' one - especially when they have been pining away for each other for years! Something about the build-up of sexual tension just gets me every time! And the brilliance or Erin Nicholas? - To go a whole new level with it and have them both completely aware of that tension and doing their utmost to fight it! We also learn a lot more when it comes to the history between Connor (Olivia's brother) and Cody, which lends a whole new level of drama to the story! We also get to see a level of protectiveness in Connor when it comes to Olivia that has all the other instances paling in comparison! I still love Connor and can't wait for his book, but he definitely has you gasping at his reaction and thinking about him a bit differently. Bottom line - I can't rave over this book enough!
This is one of those titles that you just can't miss out on - whether you're a fan of Erin's or someone only just discovering her, you will not be disappointed! Going for Four is just a fun, fun read, and one that will be on my list of books to re-read over and over for years to come!
No one can tell a story like Erin Nicholas can. I literally counted down the days until this book was available. Now I'm counting down for the fifth book in the series the way children count down to Christmas. It's that good.
With the fourth installment of the Counting on Love series, Nicholas proves yet again why she's the master of her craft. From the first line, Nicholas grabs hold of readers in a most unexpected way that compels them to keep reading until the very end. In addition to the excellent storytelling is the outstanding character development of female lead, Olivia Dixon.
And speaking of her excellent characters, Nicholas has created a male lead that's both larger than life yet completely down to Earth in the hunky firefighter Cody Madsen. Despite his overpowering masculine presence he's someone we can believe is real because Nicholas isn't afraid to let us see his flaws. Who doesn't love a man that loves to bake?
With such a great story, you can't help but get caught up in the story. You laugh with the characters and cry with them. You're angry on their behalf and happy when they are.
This steamy romance is a must have on the shelf of all contemporary romance lovers. Trust me when I say it won't disappoint. Oh, and you'll never look at chocolate chip cookies the same way ever again!
