CHERYL HOLT delivers another fast, fun-filled romantic tale filled with passion, betrayal, drama, and love forevermore…

NATHANIEL ST. JAMES has just inherited an earldom he never expected and doesn’t want. After spending many grueling years in the army, he’s come home wounded, ill, and weary. He has no desire to settle down and become a gentleman farmer. He’d rather revel in London where he can drown his sorrows and wallow in his favorite vices. When a boy arrives, claiming to be his natural-born son, he doesn’t know what to think. He’s definitely in no condition to be anyone’s father.

ROSALIE CLARK was swept into a scandal at age seventeen, and her reputation was completely destroyed. She’s spent years living abroad, hiding and hoping memories of her past indiscretion will eventually fade. She’s finally come home, but she’s not the girl she used to be. She’s jaded, tough, and flat broke too, and she has to find a way to support herself—and fast!

When Nathaniel hires her to serve as governess to his new-found son, they’re both sure it’s a very bad idea. But Rosalie is the exact tonic Nathaniel needs to cure what ails him, and with her in his home and life, the future might turn out to be Absolutely Perfect

CHERYL HOLT is a New York Times, USA Today, and Amazon “Top 100” bestselling author who has published seventy novels.

She’s also a lawyer and mom, and at age forty, with two babies at home, she started a new career as a commercial fiction writer. I have never read Cheryl Holt books. I saw this cover and it was so pretty, I checked my notes and saw I had researched her and it showed she had explicit/erotic sex but was more Victorian or Scottish which I'm not a big fan but this one seems to be more Regency so thought I'd give her a try and hope the writing and sex scenes don’t disappoint.

Not sure how I feel about this book. She was supposed to be super steamy yet 63% into the book and there was nothing but some kissing but then when they did have sex it was so boring and not described very well and just a few paragraphs. Not sure why anyone would think this was “steamy”. Anyway, sometimes I felt the story was a bit jumbled and rambling. I love that Rose was a hard ass but didn’t put up with anyone’s shit but then she would be a bit naïve about things. Not sure how to describe Nathan. I know he had PTSD but I can’t pinpoint his personality. He sort of acted liked a child and wishy washy and to be honest was really a douche to Rose. Just a strange read. Don't think I'll read her again.

I had many issues about this book. The biggest one was that I disliked all the people in it except for two children. They were impolite, vindicative and simply not kind with each other. The writing was offering the point of view and thoughts of everyone. Where this could have been fun to read, overall, it was always negative, even nasty.

I also had issue with the fact even if the story was 19th century but the language and the everyday way of life of life was contemporary. There is more, but I will stop here.

NOT a Cheryl Holt book.

Heroine was pathetic and hated the her wishy-washy personality.

The plot device of her lack of resistance to his charms were pathetic and not believable at all. The hero himself was annoying.

Whoever wrote this was not Cheryl Holt.
