i read this for uni, while i appreciate the interesting (though bizarre) writing style i couldn’t tell you much about the plot. there’s a family sitting around a dinner table- i think. the grandparents, mum and dad boyfriend girlfriend and a little sister. they’re talking about being able to cook, passing down cooking techniques and asking each other questions. i think this is one of those plays that are better watched and not read. from what i have learnt so far about debbie tucker green is that she is a phenomenal writer so my low rating is less about the writing more about the fact i could not tell you what this play was about. i enjoy reading plays it’s never bothered me i have to read at least three a week (i do not.) but im usually more excited to finish them. this one i was just excited to be finished so i could add it to my “read” pile. i did think it was nice to read a non traditional play but i wish my uni would stop making us read plays that are clearly much better seen rather than read.
I’ve read it without any information on the play besides the fact that I have to read it for uni, I truly don’t understand what I have just read at all, I’ve been clueless for the whole time. I did not really appreciate the way it was written, I think it’s part of the plays that are should only be seen and not read. And I obviously have to do a lot of research now to try to understand the meaning of what I just read
