When a person barely understands life, understanding death is almost impossible. Death ends a life, but not a relationship. Safiyah “Fiyah” Landing knows death all too well. She neglects her own wants and dreams to support the family business, The Promised Landing funeral home.
Safiyah was so used to seeing dead bodies that her own temperament turned cool and calm. That was until she came across the dead body of her childhood best friend’s brother.
Crossing paths with her past brought about feelings she tried to bury deep. The people who are meant to be in your life will always come back, no matter how far either of you wander. Find out what happens when a person’s past refuses to let go.
Damn! The drama, secrets, lies, deception and messiness was crazy for only being 74 pages! I hope we get more of this story, as Genesis and Fiyah were just getting started. Will Genesis and Fiyah have to hide out? Will Stark seek out revenge for Dakota? I need more! Whew! 👍👍👍
I enjoyed the book from beginning to end. It's a 5 star I can't put down book that yes I rated it 4 stars because of some errors of a seasoned author. There were lies and betrayal that came out that I'm sure families never wanted to surface. Genesis is definitely bae. I don't usually read novellas but I'm glad I read this one.
I love this read. I would have loved to read the full backstop about the twins, Safiyah, and her parents' troubled marriage. The read has just the right amount of drama and betrayal to make for a five-star read.
