This 'series' of 'books' is unbelievable. If I could point to a proxy of what is wrong with reading, writing, thinking or communication systems in contemporary life, then this book - and the series that follows it - is the archetype.
The book presents single sentence paragraphs and checklists that s p r e a d out the writing - to span over more pages. To make more money from Kindle reading programmes.
Yawn.
The ideas are bizarre and basic. Every few pages, an advertisement is featured for one of his other products. the end of the book - to, again stretch out the number of pages read - is a preview for another book in the series. Where the same ideas are repeated again.
This is shocking. And ridiculous. People attempting to write books deserve a better experience that this nonsense.
I enjoyed Chris Stanley's book about writing on the Mini Book Model. As someone who has multiple books in my "to read" stack, reading a shorter book that contains the information I need is very appealing to me. Chris helps authors overcome some of the ideas that stand in their way of writing shorter books with succinct messaging so that they can get the information across in a brief manner. This is something I would like to do as an author, and it is something I'm interested in as a reader. Thanks to Chris for a personable, easy, informative read!
Despite being a mini-book, I found this book to be too lengthy. I ended up not finishing it in one read-through. Also, I didn't like how Chris Stanley advertised more than one of his books to me. I found the content to be helpful, but I wish Chris Stanley had also addressed fiction books.
The encouragement and helpful tips he provides made this worth at least one read-through. I can see myself revisiting this book in the future, especially with all the highlighted information that I have.
To say that this book was short, it felt long. I put it down a few times because I got tired of skimming through filler information. This book could have gotten the same point across had it been even shorter than 60 pages. I did find some valuable takeaways I hope can work for me. I would highly recommend this book to anybody wanting to write. It breaks down ways to approaches all genres, not just fiction.
This book delivers on its promise! It shows you, in both word and deed, how to write and publish a small book. Mini books are a game-changer for authors and readers who need a format that neither blog posts nor traditional books provide. I read this book yesterday and am using what I learned today.
This is an excellent book for guiding and getting you started on your eBook. It is nice that he offers this without charging you thousands of $$$ like some authors. I like to see others succeed as I am . I took notes and hope to implement and write a mini eBook.
I'm in the middle of finishing my first mini book that is going to kick off my new series. This book was excellent in describing the ins and outs of how mini work best for readers. Looking forward to working on the rest of my series!
I enjoyed reading this. Even though it was very close to what I’ve read many times before. It’s well written. Well well thought out. I didn’t miss a single word. I plan on going back and reviewing my notes several times in the next few days. I want to see it from a different perspective. Thank you for writing it.
The author succinctly provided clear advice on publishing mini books with actionable steps including links to relevant sources for help. Took less than 2 hours to be convinced writing mini books is the way to go!
I am currently working on my first ebook and was struggling with imposter syndrome and felt the need to keep tinkering with it before sharing it with the world.
Immediately when I saw the title of this book, something said grab it.
This book has given me the freedom to ship my book but also write the mini-book length books (@10,000 words) that are strewn throughout my journals but I felt we’re not book length works.
Mini-books the way Chris describes them are a whole new, yet very old, category of books that solves one problem for the reader.
If you’re a first time author or new to the writing and self-publishing, the mini-book model is the way to go.
