Lisa was looking for an escape. A weekend at NerdCon was her portal into a world of fans, fun, merch, and stars.
And there’s one star in particular she’s looking forward to meeting this weekend: Nicole Blake. She’s the dashing captain on the hit series Captain’s Quest, and to say Lisa has a bit of a crush would be like saying the great and powerful Shatner has a bit of an ego.
The only problem? The most she can expect is a quick meet and greet and an autograph, and it’s not like she’s heard a whisper of Nicole Blake being into the ladies.
Nicole was looking for some fun. Fresh off a grueling shooting schedule on the hottest new streaming scifi phenom, all she wanted was a weekend with her people.
This was her first con as a star rather than a guest, and it was something she’d been looking forward to her whole life. What she wasn’t looking forward to or expecting? Meeting a fan who answers the age old questions “what is beautiful?” and “what is love?” in one tight little package!
Lisa expected a meet and greet and an autograph. Nicole was looking forward to an easy weekend basking in adoration from fans.
Neither one expected to find a whirlwind romance or the beginnings of something neither one realized they needed until they found it!
Talk Nerdy to Me is a 110,000 geeky lesbian romcom that's sure to please your inner nerd and shows what happens at the convention doesn't always stay at the convention!
I enjoyed this story very much. Over the long weekend of a Con, Lisa meets and falls for her crush. Low and behold, Nicole, said crush, falls too, but will it last the test of time? Things I liked - well thought out characters and good story telling throughout. Things I didn't like - a few forgotten words or added words in a sentence. Then there were a few chapters toward the end that were supposed to be from that Lisa or Nicole's perspective but when reading, I became aware that it was actually the other character speaking/thinking. Overall it was a good one though.
Talk Nerdy to Me follows a romance as it develops over the course of a weekend romp through sci-fi convention land. Lisa and Nicole are an engaging couple with a tendency to over-think most things. However, this is hard core nerd territory, so they are right at home. There are many references, both subtle and overt, to actual sci-fi shows which the alert, used to be younger, reader may possibly remember. The story arc gets a little wacky towards the end but eventually settles down for a satisfying conclusion. A very basic plot, but it’s a fun trip.
I like the way the story panned out. One fan with a crush on her favorite star, and an actor, who obviously had a crush on the fan. Glimpses of both their minds showed you what they were thinking, but neither one knew the whole story. I like these double perspective stories. You can see what’s on everyone’s mind.
I read this on Kindle Unlimited and it was sorely in need of editing. The story and writing had lots of potential and it was a nerd girls dream story of con talent actually falling for a fan. A fun read if you don't need to stop and yell about uncapitalized sentences and obviously autocorrected words.
Awesome book. Humorous. Taglines and sci-fi tv show nostalgia, I really laughed a lot, getting invested in the central characters, and quirky side characters. Definitely reading this book again.
This touched my nerdy little heart! This reminded me, fondly, of my younger days and midwest sci-fi conventions. I loved both the main characters and found myself empathizing with Lisa quite a bit.
I was a bit disappointed with this book. There’s really not much going on… the characters meet, attract each other, blah blah. A lot of nerd references thrown in and that’s it.
