Compelling story with only a few issues

The story itself was intriguing. But some of the character development and twists were unreasonable and broke any ability to suspend disbelief. The ending felt rushed after an otherwise quality build up. And the book itself needs a solid round of copy editing. "I got to be at university tomorrow" and similar lines of dialog are sloppy English and highly distracting.

The book itself shows a lot of promise but feels like a mostly unedited early draft with a sloppily rushed climax and finale. Worth a read, but left me slightly disappointed.

Excellent adventure

A archeology student finds himself as a target of Nazi assassins and learns that he has to save the world from future. No biggie.

Great book

This was an exceptional book. Great storyline and a great cast of characters. When I read something like this I wonder how do they think of these things. Again, a really good story and I recommend reading.

relic: by t.s. falk

This is a very different book. Tamales trading. It is fast pace and interesting. The plot is unique with lots of twists. The ending is not what I expected. I recommend this book.

In "RELIC," T.S. Falk crafts a narrative that is both a thrilling adventure and a deep dive into the implications of history interwoven with speculative science. Published in 2024, this novel stands out particularly in its audiobook format, thanks to Andrew Eiden's compelling narration. Here's a look into what makes this audiobook an engaging listen for fans of science fiction and adventure.

The story revolves around Jordan Carver, an American student whose journey through Europe takes an unexpected turn when he inherits a flat in Berlin from a barely-known professor. This seemingly mundane inheritance catapults him into a world of international intrigue, where he's chased by assassins across continents, all for a mysterious relic that could redefine human history or potentially lead to its demise.

Falk's writing in "RELIC" blends genres effectively. It's part thriller, part historical mystery, with a dash of speculative science fiction. The plot is reminiscent of Michael Crichton's knack for melding science with high-stakes action, but Falk adds a unique flavor with his focus on historical artifacts and their modern-day implications. The narrative is fast-paced, ensuring listeners are always on the edge of their seats, wondering what twist or chase scene awaits next.

One of the key highlights of "RELIC" is its global setting. From the historical streets of Berlin to the secretive corners of Nepal, the geographical diversity adds layers to the story, making it a vivid tapestry of culture, history, and action. Falk's detailed descriptions, while not overbearing, enrich the listening experience, painting scenes that you can almost see through Eiden's voice.

Speaking of narration, Andrew Eiden delivers an exceptional performance. His voice brings Jordan Carver to life with an authenticity that resonates with the character's youth and naivety juxtaposed against the relentless pursuit he faces. Eiden's ability to switch between accents and tones, embodying the various characters from different parts of the world, adds a cinematic quality to the audiobook. His narration doesn't just tell the story; it enhances the emotional depth of each scene, whether it's the thrill of a chase or the quiet moments of introspection.

The themes in "RELIC" are thought-provoking, touching on the ethics of owning history, the pursuit of knowledge versus power, and the consequences of both. While the book avoids heavy-handed moralizing, it leaves listeners pondering these questions long after the final chapter.

However, the novel isn't without its flaws. Some might find the historical and scientific explanations a tad bit heavy-handed at times, potentially slowing down the narrative's otherwise brisk pace. Additionally, while the characters are well-developed, some secondary ones could have used more depth.

Overall, "RELIC" by T.S. Falk, with its intricate plot and globe-trotting adventure, is a commendable addition to the sci-fi adventure genre. The audiobook format, narrated with flair by Andrew Eiden, significantly elevates the story

4⭐ action packed Indiana Jones/National Treasure

I read this book in just a few days. The action was consistent enough throughout the book that I found myself reading longer in one sitting. The chapters ended with cliff hangers that made me go on to the next. If you like Indian Jones or National Treasure I would recommend this nice easy read.

Fun and action filled read.

I really enjoyed this book. It was creative and I liked the characters. I like it when I can't put a book down until I have read the entire book. This is one of those. Thank you T. S. Falk for another great time.

It was enjoyable to a point. I found the ending anticlimactic leaving the reader with more unanswered questions than answered. I think the main character wasn’t as developed as I would have liked. All in all I would read another book by this author as this book wasn’t a total bust.

The story was ok but !

I was halfway through this book and I noticed some of the wording was off, it had Word in sentences that were jumbled, and some unfinished sentences, I have been reading for well over fifty years and while I doubt I could
write a decent book, I know when something is not right and the editing on this book was pretty bad, I might try this author at a later date but will pass on purchasing T. S. Falk in the immediate future.

another good adventure tale.

Not quite a sequel but in the same universe as his previous books. Liked the characters here, and the themes in archeology are interesting. In this tale a young grad school dropout inherits a old relic that just may or may not be from the future, but who would believe that?

A SIMPLE MAN'S REVIEW:

A morsel of an idea put into a stew of cliches, tired tropes, and detachment from reality. I would have given it an additional star if the author dared to have the ending it deserved, but no, we had to have the hero survive for the next book.

A book about mysterious relics and Nazis are a dime-a-dozen, you know? So the author takes a slightly different approach but the result is the same. It's still a story about a student who finds a thing and has to avoid all the people trying to kill him. Of course he doesn't go to the police. Of course he becomes an action hero overnight. Of course people switch sides (one of the easiest "twists" to include). Of course he meets a girl and treats her like a weak sidekick (and has sex with her). Of course it all works out for him. What did you expect?

Skip it!

Sorry, but I don't share the views of many Goodreads reviewers regarding this novel. For this humble reviewer, it was pretty standard and repetitive. There were a few plot twists, but most of those could be seen coming for pages and pages. The premise of looking for an old WWII relic that caused the death of dozens of Nazi's seemed to be a tired, old plotline. None of the characters were particularly likable or memorable. Because numerous reviewers have outlined the story before me, I'll stop here with my synopsis.
In all honesty, I got through the book only because I like to finish things that I start. Had I known what I was getting into before jumping in, I wouldn't have started the book.
I apologize if I sound like I'm being harsh, but this is just my humble opinion...

I was hooked from the prologue, and the story kept taking really well thought out twists and turns, I was constantly impressed with the main character and was rooting for him. The small romance between the main Jordan and Maria I thought wasn't fleshed out enough for sparks to fly for me personally but then somehow with the other female character Jordan had more tension with and she was trying to kill him for 2/3 of the book. The story made sense and I appreciated his anthropology perspective while reading about the history of these places the story took us. I would highly recommend this book to people who love a good mystery, adventure and a great ending

Terrible start, factual error

I read the prologue, and that was enough. I knew I wouldn’t like this novel. The writing was rushed, with no character development and some jarringly abrupt reveals with no lead-in. The characters’ actions didn’t make sense. And to cap it all off there was a factual error in the second paragraph that confused kilometers and miles. It said that 1 km is equal to 1.6 miles, when it’s 1 mile that is equal to 1.6 km.

Admittedly I did not get past the prologue, but just from those few pages I could tell that I wouldn’t enjoy this book.

Not recommended. I give it 2/5 stars.

Kept Waiting

I really wanted to like this book more than I did. It’s good. Well written. I just kept waiting for it to get to the point. I wanted to stop reading several times but kept on going. Finally, the relic was found. At the very end of the book. It became really interesting then. Of course, that was when it ended. It does have a great cast of characters who keep you guessing about what they are up to. Just wish it was more about the actual relic. More about time travel aspect and who sent the relic would have been great too.

Reading "RELIC: A SciFi Adventure" was an exhilarating journey from start to finish. The book's fast-paced plot and richly imagined universe kept me hooked throughout. The protagonist, with their blend of bravery and intelligence, was someone I could easily root for. The advanced technology and alien worlds were vividly described, making the setting both immersive and believable. The twists and turns in the story kept me on the edge of my seat, eager to see what would happen next. For anyone who loves a thrilling science fiction adventure, "RELIC" is an absolute must-read.

Great Story!

Very creative and innovative piece of work! First, an unknown hero emerged from an unlikely place. Accidentally thrown into a race for an artifact that could help or destroy mankind. I love that it weaved science fiction and international intrigue. Plus a touch from an already established character Elliott Brand. For me, weirdly as this may sound adding Professor Brand lended a little credibility to the story given his reputation in other stories. I truly enjoyed the story and looking forward to reading more!

This was a decent although Jordan's character was to much like the previous protagonist for my taste . I Haye when the male lead is thirsty for the first pretty girl the meet . Even though red flags are everywhere like I said to MUCH like the previous protagonist .

I found this novel to be similar in composition to other adventure / archeological novels written by: Matt James, Ernest Dempsey, Andrew Clawson, Nick Crow, and Luke Richardson. It involves Jordan Carver seeking answers to a relic he inherited that appears to be ahead of its time. Of course, as in the other authors’ storylines, there are nefarious entities who want to take possession of what he has, along with the knowledge and potential power that goes with it.

Not for me.
I have had my ups and downs with sci-fi books. This was a down. I never got into the book. I also felt that it wasn’t well written and badly edited. 350 pages of boredom surrounded by 30 pages of mild action. No thrills. No suspense. Falk tries to pull the hero out of squeaker after squeaker. Jordan has only seconds to live many times, and he somehow makes it. It all feels over the top.

A bit of Raiders mixed with ….

If you like your stories to be a bit of a mix of Raiders of the Lost Ark with a splash of Matthew Elliot and just a dash of Stargate then have a read.
A rollicking good yarn with enough twists to add just the right amount of ‘spice’ and a hero - who shouldn’t be a hero.
Not a bad read at all.

Interesting story and the book is a bit of a page turner. I got hooked!
The main character is bit too trusting and naive. I was like, come on man what are you thinking!
But anyway, the story was pleasant nonetheless.
