Wild Romance Saga #8

Chasing Love: Lorna

Rate this book
At some point in life, most girls dream they'll bag their dream man.

I know I did, but the moment I bagged mine, I couldn't believe it.

Apart from being a close family friend, billionaire playboy Josh Armati was my older brother, James's best friend. Yet, for almost a decade I was a serial hookup of Josh's.

The man played with my heart then he gave me it back, until one day he professed to love me. At that point, I believed that he did, but I figured perhaps he'd told me this to get his own way. Whatever made him say it, it was an admission that complicated all that was good about us.

However we soon learned that together, neither of us had it all. Apart, we both knew we had nothing.

So when he asked me to try again, I said yes unreservedly.

Once I had time to reflect on what I'd agreed to, I wondered if I have the nerve to face his pending life-changing situation when the chance of us failing to survive as a couple has been higher?

Kelly Shandwick writes emotional contemporary romance with angst, heart and heat.

She enjoys writing love stories that take place in America for characters who deserve second chances. These characters have flaws and real-life issues, but their stories have that element of escapism we all love in a book. When Kelly isn’t writing, she’s much in demand by her six-year-old granddaughter, who insists her grandma can do anything. At the time of writing, she has requested Kelly teach her how to do the splits, juggle, and to play the violin… all of which Kelly has no particular talent for. Her granddaughter insists Kelly is her superhero and can overcome these minor hurdles.

amazing

After the first book I wasn’t Lorna’s biggest fan, that all changed however when we got to see what she was hiding behind the front that she puts on for everyone. My heart broke for her and I just wanted her to have the HEA that she deserved.

Well at the end of book 7, Josh's book, I had a distinct feeling of dislike mixed with unease as Lorna rocked Josh's world yet again.
Now we get to hear from Lorna, I really need an explanation as to why she behaved so selfishly.

As I've said before, Kelly Shandwick covers a whole diversity of human behaviour and relationships. So when Lorna sat Josh down to tell him about her personal choices that led to that moment I was as unprepared for her truth as anyone. My heart did melt, and I did kinda feel bad for her.

As the story progresses we get a front row seat to their relationship, there were lot's of tears and tantrums, family meddlings and some very romantic intimate moments. Lorna was definitely a loner, most of her life she had to hide her feelings from her family, so now she has her work cut out for her with a brand new family and unexpected responsibilities. There's no more running away for her, she has to dig deep for the courage it's gonna take to keep her fledgling family together, will love conquer all?

I really enjoyed the depth that the author went to to bring these two characters their happily ever afters, it's certainly insightful and emotional...

Chasing Love Lorna is the fabulous conclusion to Josh and Lorna’s story. Following on from where Chasing Love Josh left us, we’ve previously heard Josh’s side of their story and in this narrative, it is Lorna who shares their continued journey with us. I feel that it is perfectly timed for Lorna to voice her thoughts and feelings as Josh’s decisions and plans (which he shares during his narrative) have a huge effect on Lorna - especially emotionally - going forward.

Josh and Lorna’s relationship right from the very beginning has been filled with complications - insecurities being a major obstacle. There have been times when I have wondered if they would ever find a way to be together as there is so much for them to work through. The author has penned this narrative perfectly as I completely understood the actions and feelings of both Josh and Lorna, and I loved during the more tense moments that I could see both sides. My heart hurt for them. I desperately wanted them to find a solution to the issues that they were facing and be happy. Their love for one another is palpable and the sexual chemistry between them is off the charts. I thoroughly enjoyed witnessing Josh and Lorna together.

I love that the other couples we’ve already got to know in the Wild Romance Saga series make appearances throughout this duet. Not surprisingly since Lorna is one of the Wild siblings and Josh a best friend. This narrative brought out all the emotions in me and I loved feeling every single one of them - yes, even the heartache. As always, Kelly Shandwick has brought sensitive real-life topics to this story that are written with consideration and care. There are thought-provoking lessons to be learned from Josh and Lorna’s mistakes. I’m looking forward to catching up with them when Lorna’s sisters’ stories are released at a future date.

A wonderful emotional story that has some really moving scenes, it's full of real life issues and down to earth characters. Josh makes a few mistakes along the way but I'm glad Lorna stands her ground and puts him right. This is written with a nice steady flow and pace, it had me completely invested from start to finish with how it would end and how the family members would react. Would they support or scorn because of Josh's past? Or would they fully support both of them? especially after Josh's part in the first book of this duet. Fabulously moving scenes around the birth and adapting to being home after, and one really special scene near the end that for me stood out. Read the book and you will understand which and why. Lorna has been strong for so long on the surface, coming across as uncaring and hard at times but in this we get to understand that underneath she was an emotional wreck for most of the time around Josh and her family, hence her life away from them. Daphne was a character who was selfless in what she did even though the end benefits were to help her and her dad, she put herself through a really hard event to help others, I applauded her for what she did. Thankfully these characters had the money and means to go this route but I know in real-life that isn't always a viable answer and that has to be heartbreaking. What a ride this has been, vulnerable and powerful right along with heartbreak, romance and a deep connection spanning decades.

Lorna's heartbreaking story

CHASING LOVE: LORNA
is book #8 in the Wild Romance Saga and #2 in the duet involving Josh Armati and Lorna Wild. Told from Lorna's POV it is her chance to explain why she has done everything she has ... a chance for redemption after continually shattering Josh's world.

As Lorna proceeded to tell Josh her story and the reasons behind al her decisions my heart went out to her. No longer was she the woman I considered to be selfish, instead she showed her strength and resilience. She still had a fight on her hands though, she needed to gain the trust and love of those she had let down.

Kelly wrote a beautiful emotional story that was both heartbreaking and inspiring. It was a story of understanding and forgiveness, of vulnerabilities and strengths, and a love and connection that had endured over the years. Josh and Lorna stole my heart with their story, one that had my emotions gripping me tightly. A captivating end to their duet.

Chasing love, Lorna's story and POV. How can you not love this series. The emotional content and angst that is given on every page is outstanding.
Lorna has secrets as to why she supposedly doesn't like kids. Josh decides whilst he is single and getting older, he wants to be a father, before it is too late. He searches for a surrogate. Asking Lorna to help him choose brings out her disappointment and anger as to why she never married and never had children. She reveals her secret and puts him in a difficult position as he has already decided what he wants out of life. That includes Lorna but will his dreams come true when she is hurting that the surrogate is carrying his children but not hers.
This story is so realistic in the grief that Lorna feels and expectations of how one would cope in her situation. Does love prevail? Loved the conclusion to josh and Lorna's story.

Woah! What an emotional journey we went on with Lorna. When I finished Josh's book I couldn't wait to see where Kelly was going to take us with Lorna and Josh's relationship. We learn about Lorna's past in more detail and from her perspective which I really liked and needed. There were huge life events on her journey to where she was in life when her book starts that were completely unexpected! Kelly balances the grief I felt for Lorna with the high that Josh is experiencing really well. She has us on a knife's edge through a lot of the book. As with all of Kelly's books I love the deep dive into the characters minds. We know their hearts and souls. My heart was broken in this book and I found myself really sad about it. It's heavy. That being said, Lorna will forever hold my heart in a way that's completely different from Billie, Tricia or Erin. I love the Wild family!

5 Star Review Chasing Love: Lorna (Wild Romance Saga #8) by Kelly Shandwick

After reading Josh’s story I was interested to see if Ms. Shandwick could turn Lorna round for me, as I had a hard time connecting to her. If you haven’t read Chasing Love: Josh, then STOP as you need to read before you read this book which is the conclusion to their duet.

Josh and Lorna have been friends since childhood and their relationship has evolved over the years. As Lorna’s story unfolded my heart went out to her and I am pleased that I could finally understand what she has been through and her decisions.

This was an emotional story and one full of angst. There are several topics covered that may be triggers to some and I freely admit to some tears on occasion. It is a story of forgiveness and love an one that got to me on numerous levels.

I was excited for Chasing Love Lorna because I needed to know if it was possible to get me liking and connecting with Lorna. I had no problem with Josh and I really was convinced that Lorna was not the woman for him well how wrong was I……
This is not a stand-alone and you do need to read Chasing Love Josh before you pick this emotional and heartwarming story.
This couple have been friends for many years but whenever he got too close she pushed him away and it’s only in this book do you get to see why. I went from being indifferent to Lorna to cheering her on as I read her story.
As you would expect from the very talented Ms Shandwick this is a well written, emotional, heartbreaking and heartwarming story. It’s a journey about trust, love and forgiveness and it certainly ticked all my boxes.

I haven't always been Lorna's biggest fan. The way she strung Josh along at times really made me question their relationship, but then we got Lorna's pov of this emotionally charged duet, and my understanding of her changed.

We got to see the raw side of her, and it made us realise that throughout everything, Lorna was doing the only thing she thought she could, and that was protecting her heart.

She and Josh now have a new dynamic, and its definitely going to take some navigating on both sides, but they love each other and together can conquer it all.
A highly recommended read.

The wonderful thing about the Wild Romance series is that each of the books partner perfectly.
In Josh’s book we clearly understood where and how Josh feels about Lorna and how he sees his future and the part he would like to see Lorna playing in it. But does Lorna feel the same?
In book 8, everything becomes crystal clear for Lorna and what she needs to do to.
I’ve loved all the couples in the Wild Romance Series, but there is something about Lorna and Josh that has stolen just that little bit more of my heart

Josh and Lorna had a complicated history. They were able to stay friends throughout it all. When reading Josh's book I had a difficult time liking Lorna. As you read her story you get to know her reasons and mindset. There was still a few things she did that irked me but still loved this book. I enjoyed their journey. I also liked the secondary characters. They helped them navigate when they were having issues. I look forward to reading Korry's story.

Lorna
Josh and Lorna
This was Lorna's book this one really played with the emotions.
After deciding to make a real go of their relationship both their lives are changing Josh with the babies and Lorna with family commitments and work.
Although the two have so much love for each other the insecurities from the past weigh them down and both have to fight to hold on together
Another must read
