“I’m just a woman who was forced to become a monster to save herself.”
In the captivating conclusion of The Vengeance Duology, everything comes down to a choice: the promise of power or the freedom of self.
Revenge is sweet, but it comes with a cost. Forced down a path of death and destruction, Rhiannon must choose whether to give herself over to her bloodthirsty nature or find her way back to the woman she was and the life that was taken from her.
After so much loss, can she put the broken pieces back together? Or is it too late?

The Vengeance Duology is a feminist, dark, low fantasy that blends feminine rage, romance, and magic. Inspired by the rampant misogyny and violence against women in our society, this series is a revenge fantasy and journey of reclamation of self that too many of us are denied.

I am SO glad Alexis started this book with a recap of the first one. As someone with a terrible memory, it was very useful.
The first couple of chapters were a little slow/repetitive but as soon as Rhiannon's friends start to show up the story picks up again. Like in the first book, we see the characters travel around while looking for answers and I'm starting to think it's become one of my favorites tropes because I honestly always eat it up.
Go off Alexis! This was a very good sequel. The character growth in Rhiannon was lovely. I like that the overall theme was having the right to choose your fate, as I think that will resound with many readers. I want my own Morana :( I look forward to reading more books by Alexis!
This has a "Previously on" passage AND detailed TW/CW and RESOURCES list
OK, yes, Rhi is a total badass, Rhi is one of the most relatable FMCs I have read; but Tristain is just... Everything that came out of his mouth melted me.
The relationship development in this book was amazing. Not only with each other but with themselves. There is just something that gets me every time when the FMC is the gray character, and the love interest is just It's so amazing. Like yes, even at your darkest, you are deserving of love and friendship, and yes, even trust.
Another thing that I LOVE is the relationship with her friends was just soo real. Friends that you can be your ugliest self and know you'll be loved still is priceless. And I mean your absolute, darkest, ugliest, worst self, and your friends tell you how things are straight up and still stick around. That friendship.
I love the way this series ended. I love how the plot was woven into this story and how, on point, the timing and development of this story were. This is a darker read, and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the detailed TW/CW at the beginning of the book AND the resources list, and as a cherry on top, this has a "previously on" passage
It was a long journey towards true freedom and peace. A dark and painful one at that. But what Alexis so beautifully portrayed here was that if you truly love someone, you will do whatever it takes to keep them safe. That you will have complete faith in them. That you will support them and be there for them always no matter the cost. And overcoming all this, the ending was perfectly concluded. (Also, I won't mind having a Morana of my own)
This book might be dark and triggering for some readers, so please do check the CW/TW provided by the author before starting it. Though it was a bit slow-go for me as I wasn't able to resonate with the characters, but it was a worth it read. Also if you are not too much into spice, don't worry, the spice level is about 🌶️🌶️🌶️. And if you are into a book with a FMC who was once helpless but overcame her shortcomings and becomes powerful through sheer will and determination, then guys this book is for you.
It's a good end of duology and the ending that Rhiannon deserves so much. I have loved accompanying her in this healing process and on her way to destroy the patriarchy, I have resonated so much with her anger.
There's a lot of angst but the unconditional love between Rhi and Tristain that leaves wonderful moments beautifully written, is all the happiness I need. (Plus they're both incredibly hot)
If you like to read about bloodthirsty women without an ounce of mercy for men who believe they have the right to do whatever they want and treat others like shit + with Dark Magic + an unbreakable friendship that will be through thick and thin + a romance plot in which both are willing to do ANYTHING for the other, this duology is for you.
I had the amazing opportunity and pleasure of reading this book in the early stages, and y’all it is so good! This is the thrilling conclusion to Rhiannon’s story after the events of Vengeance Becomes Her. Rhiannon’s journey to defeat her evils while not losing herself or hurting those she loves is beautifully told with modern day themes woven throughout. There’s adventure, romance, spice, plus size rep, and so much more! Alexis does an amazing job of including a list is trigger warnings on her platforms and website. Check those out prior to starting. Vengeance Frees Her is an Adult Dark Fantasy, 18+ for there’s, sexual content, and violence.
Alexis came to serve and that's exactly what she did! The sequel of this book showcases our favourite strong and badass women once again, giving them a perfect ending. I loved Rhiannon in the first book and in this book it was no different how much I adored her as a character and through her growth. Such an anticipated read for me, and it didn't disappoint!
Honestly, I loved the first book but this was even better?! I love how easy the magic world building continued to be and I'm glad Rhiannon didn't lose her stabby nature in her journey to save herself and Tristain.
I loved Tristain so so much he's so freaking perfect its not even funny. The way he has with words, the dedication to Rhiannon and the absolute faith he had in her the whole time was incredible.
Check TW and CW. Yes I’ve been patiently waiting for the conclusion of Rhiannon’s story. I loved her character throughout this entire series and enjoyed seeing her grow. The backstory was so interesting I was cheering in parts because I could see myself in certain parts of this story and that meant the world to me.
A wonderful end to the duology. A fantastic tribute to women who have been wronged by men. A voice for those who didn’t survive. Everyone should read these books and hope they can conjure some of Rihannon’s strength when faced with impossible situations. ❤️❤️❤️
I recieved an arc for this which I'm so grateful for!
The whole vibe of this book is intense. Dripping in blood, darkness, and love. The duology is light on the fantasy aspect, working more as a backdrop, but that makes it feel rather intimate.
We spend a lot of time in Rhiannon's head. Learning her in all her bloodthirsty, vengeful, loving, and glorious ways. Her struggle with the monster within her is so emotional. It feels a bit like healing, how healing from a trauma is like an open wound. Like how healing from trauma can be it's own unique kind of trauma. That's truly what I got out of her situation. How it's easy to lash out, to cling to any lifeline while also wanted to distance yourself from your loved ones because you don't trust yourself. It was done beautifully.
I love the romance between Tristan and Rhi it's slightly toxic and codependent but they are so ride or die for each other. Just the perfect mix of id burn the world for you and I'd provide you the matches type of relationship. Also genuinely love how incapable they are at keeping their hands off each other. Their love really is the heart of the story for me.
Overall I loved this story. I think my only real critique( if I'm being picky) is that I wish the side characters relationship with Tristan had a little more development, but I understand that the focus was more on Rhi.
