She was sent to forge an alliance with the deadly Oronis knights…and instead finds herself framed for abducting their queen.
Xenoanthropologist Kennedy Black loves exploring new cultures with Space Corps. Everyone in her life has left her, so she happily fills the void with exciting adventures. When she’s assigned to escort the new ambassador to the planet Oron for an opulent ball, she’s thrilled to get an up-close look at the Oronis knights, and their culture of honor and duty to their knightqueen. But she never expected her reaction to cool, controlled Knightmaster Ashtin Caydor, head of the Oronis Knightforce.
And she really didn’t expect a savage alien attack that leaves the knightqueen missing and Earth fingered as the culprit.
Knightmaster Ashtin Caydor lives to protect his planet, his people, and his knightqueen. He came from nothing, and the code of knighthood is the cornerstone of his being. When Knightqueen Carys is abducted by their mortal enemies, the ferocious Gek’Dragar, he’s icily enraged, especially when he finds evidence that Earth, and the far too enticing Sub-Captain Kennedy Black, are involved.
But Kennedy vows to clear Earth’s name by helping Ashtin and his knights find the queen. As she and Ashtin embark on a risky mission to a dangerous jungle planet, they’re forced to rely on each other, and their sizzling chemistry is soon undeniable. But love can’t be an option, not for a knight bound only to his duty and a woman whose heart already has too many scars.
I’m a USA Today bestselling romance author who’s passionate about fast-paced, emotion-filled romantic suspense and science-fiction romance. I love writing about people overcoming unbeatable odds and achieving seemingly impossible goals. I like to believe it’s possible for all of us to do the same.
I love hearing from readers and you can find me on Facebook, Instagram and my website: www.annahackett.com
I loved the action and storyline. I really liked Kennedy's curious personality. I just felt the relationship building was a bit light, even though they went through a tough mission together, making the insta-love somewhat unbelievable.
Four and a half What an excellent start to this new series and if like me the Eon series with its fabulous heroines and awesome heroes filled you with joy then you will indeed want to immerse yourself in these Orinis Knights. Kennedy is beyond delighted to be one of the first humans to visit Oron as she’s immensely curious about other lands and cultures. These Knights are loyal, steadfast and fuelled by a sense of duty that is pretty jaw dropping but a certain Knightmaster Ashtin appears anything but welcoming. When an attack occurs during a reception the Knights find themselves not only incapacitated by alien technology but worse of all their beloved KnightQueen is missing ! Knightmaster Ashtin doesn’t trust the human visitors but cannot deny that Kennedy probably saved his life so when it’s time to retrieve his Queen reluctantly allows Kennedy to go . Kennedy might want to see the worlds she’s only imagined but never in her wildest dreams did she imagine the adventure she’s about to take! I really enjoyed this book and Kennedy was everything I want in a heroine. To be fair Ashtin was fun to read about too and he hides a very romantic and poetic soul, sigh ! Of course they get thrown together and yes things go badly wrong but this author always delivers a happy ending for her couples. As this ends already there are characters this reader wants to get back to . If you enjoy fast paced, romantic stories with unbelievable enemies and a wee bit of cuteness thrown in you will definitely enjoy this book. This voluntary take is of an advanced copy and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair
I was in the mood for a Sci fi romance and this series by Anna Hackett caught my eye. There was non stop action from start to finish and I enjoyed the ride between the Knight Master and the Sub Captain.
This review may contain spoilers, so fair warning, upon reading the review.
Introduction Knightmaster is the first book in a new series "Oronis Knights" this series is connected to her Eon series, I wasn't feeling lost though, you can easily read this book without having to read that series although now after reading this book I am super intrigued by that other series and definitely planning on working through that one there. Knightmaster is a kick ass of a romance with lots of suspense, so if you love sci fi and romantic suspense, then I highly recommend this one too. This also has a character that is being falsely accused and having to prove innocence and really enjoyed that aspect. I am so curious what will happen with the next two couples teased about though so come on Hackett and write these books lol
Summary Kennedy Black, is part of the Earth Space Corps, she is assigned to seeing to the needs of the ambassador's attending the Oron ball where they will meet with the Knightqueen and form alliances. Knightmaster Ashtin Caydor, is one of the most elites of her guards and is only second to her primary captain. But when his friend and queen are taken, all eyes point to Kennedy and her "Earth" behind it all. But there is something more happening, and Ashtin is determined to get to the bottom of it and find his Knightqueen. As Ashtin and Kennedy go searching for them, the chemistry that was instant from their first meeting escalated and a powerful love builds between them...
My Outlook Knightmaster is a powerful story and it kept me on the edge all the way through. I absolutely adored this book in every single way. I couldn't put it down, which is typical Anna Hackett, there is something so engaging about her writing style that immediately pulls me into the story. Knightmaster is a new series of Anna Hackett, and I was intrigued especially after looking at this cover and honestly I am so curious to see where Anna Hackett is planning on taking this series. I really enjoyed Ashtin and Kennedy together. They both kicked ass but I also loved how attentive Kennedy is to others needs, she is such a caretaker and I loved that. That there is more to her than just being a woman that can fight but can also protect and nurture in her own way. The steam in this book is pretty good, I would say a mix between warm and steamy on my spice scale. Oh the little robot of Kennedy's??? He was adorbs. I just wanted to hug him. haha
Overall View I found Knightmaster to be a intense romance that is a full out of space adventure to curl your toes and keep you curious all the way till the end and keep you yearning for more!
I thoroughly enjoyed the Eon series and couldn't wait to delve into the Orinis Knights with the sexy alpha men and women. Knightmaster is the first great book in the series and was as good as I had remembered from my first time reading it. The Knights are loyal, with a staunch sense of duty and right and wrong. Knightmaster Ashtin and fellow knights will stop at nothing to find their beloved Queen who has been abducted by their mortal enemy. Ashtin finds it hard to believe that the newly found friends the Terrans are not behind the abduction as much as he would love that to be true he needs proof. Kennedy takes it upon herself to help hunt for the Queen and prove the Terrans are friends, not foe. A great actioned packed read.
SUPER insta-love, surface characters, kinda cheesy and generic storyline, everyone naturally speaks English even though they are just learning about people from earth for the first time. But fun action, and a nice, quick read.
I wanted to really like this book, but the plot was formulaic while also including a whole lot of plot holes and not at all wrapping up at the end, and the romance was really uninteresting, especially since it felt like I missed an entire section of the book after they had already basically fallen in love during the hour after having met each other (they also went through an enemies-to-reluctant-allies? phase during that hour). I didn't hate this book, but I just didn't care for the characters at all, mostly due to a lack of personality besides brooding and badass warrior.
An action sci-fi romance that starts with insta-lust adds in action, distrust, steam and ends with love and a HEA. The heroine, Space Corps sub-captain & xeno-anthroplogist Kennedy Black, arrives at the planet Oron with an insatiable curiosity about other species. The hero, knightmaster Ashtin Caydor, is instantly drawn to the heroine, but duty is always foremost on his mind.
This one just wasn't quite working for me. It felt like it was too close to repeating the same plot points as some of the Eon series books, but without some of the things that made Eon special (e.g. symbiotic armor that chose your mate for you). I felt the nanite armor was a watered down version of Eon instead of the author choosing a different thing entirely. I felt like the characters had potential, but their story arc felt at times like they were forced to into the next plot point rather than it feeling more natural (e.g. and now we abruptly stop for a steamy scene). Overall, this one's never going to be a favorite, but I'd read the next in the series at least to see if it's any better.
*****Spoiler Alert***** This Book Includes Violence. Lots of action scenes and fighting with bad guys (lizard people, dragons, & others) with blades, energy weapons, blasters, etc... Sex. MF sex
Things That Bothered Me Heroine Character In part I felt I'd met people like this character with an insatiable curiosity, However, the thing about jacks of all trades is that they are usually masters of none. Meaning I wasn't entirely sure I bought in to the bad-ass fighter part of her character. If this was the only incongruency it would be small enough to ignore, but here it contributed to the whole book not working for me. A fighter who takes every class offered I would buy, but an excellent fighter & precision shooter - a bit too far.
Not Fated Mates Ok so no symbiont armor means no fated mates - just insta-lust and insta-love. So, at the end she's resigning her career for a guy she's known for about 2 days? Without the fated mates bit or any type of commitment I thought this just made her look stupid. I mean couldn't he at least ask her to marry him or something?
Abrupt Transitions As mentioned above at times it felt like the characters were manhandled from plot point to plot point. Instead of a more natural arc it felt decidedly pointy.
Treason I didn't believe the treason plot line. What I mean is that I can't believe that a technologically advanced society couldn't analyze a human device to determine something about where / when the data on it came from. Where is the computer expert? It appears the evidence is the device itself, which is not that difficult to obtain. Then some shady guy says he sold it to the bad guys and that's all the proof anyone needs?? He is A SHADY GUY - by definition not to be taken at his word. At least get video or some other proof of transaction. Both the blame and the proof of innocence were very very very weak. Also, where is the foreshadowing of looking for the real leak because clearly the bad guys got the data from somewhere. Shouldn't someone we'll see later in the series be tracking that?
Invincible Oronis The problem with this series is that in the Eon series whenever we saw an Oronis they were practically invincible. So, to start off the series with them being down in the fight feels a bit off-brand. Although clearly the series wouldn't be very interesting if they were invincible, but here they start off so much more fallible than they appeared in previous books that it is jarring.
Sliding into the world of the Oronis knights and HOO-BOY. The knights (both of the male and female variety) have it going on. They're strong, sex-ay, and honorable and I AM SO HERE FOR THAT.
First up is Knightmaster Ashtin who embodies everything the knights stand for. Which is probably why he's a Knightmaster, really. But seriously, the knights are Ashtin's family and he honors them every day with his every action. He is absolutely not prepared to be hit with feelings for one human woman who might have helped his enemies capture his knightqueen. But here he is.
On Kennedy's end, she's more than a little excited to see the sights and culture of a new planet as part of the ambassador's group. What she's not thrilled with? Having Earth implicated in the plot to kidnap the knightqueen. Fortunately for everyone, Ashtin is level-headed enough to believe she (and Earth) aren't involved and soon the two of them are following clues to (a) find the knightqueen and (b) prove Earth wasn't part of the kidnapping.
New planets, dangerous enemies, honorable knights, human tenacity, and some serious sparks. Yesssssss.
I don't mean to be a party pooper but the insta-love/lust just killed my attention span for this story. It started off well, I can visualise the Oronis world in my head, and the opening fight scene was a chef's kiss, it's like watching a sci-fi movie come to life.
But we all know I'm here for the romance, and I NEED SOMETHING MORE THAN JUST ATTRACTION to fuel my attention and captivate my interest.
Yes, the characters were kickass. Yes, they were hot, and yes, they were very much going to climb each other right where they stood...but what else was there? The story wasn't bad but, it went along the line of predictability.
I loved that Ashtin was the typical severe, coolheaded type who takes his duties seriously, and that Kennedy wasn't no damsel. But a little slow burn wouldn't have hurt.
This was a little too insta love for me. I’m interested in knowing about Kaden and Nea as well as the Knightqueen and her guard. There’s lots of potential and I will be keeping an eye on this new series.
Series: Oronis Knights #1 Rating: 4 stars - It was really good
Xenoanthropologist Kennedy Black’s dream of exploring new cultures has finally been fulfilled when she is assigned to escort the new ambassador to the planet Oron for a ball. This is the first time Earth has been able to visit the planet of the Oronis Knights but her excitement is cut short when aliens attack and Earth gets blamed. Now she has to work with the sexy Knightmaster Ashtin Caydor to find his missing Knightqueen.
This was a great introduction for this new series and this new group of aliens. This is set in the same universe as the Eon Warriors series, but you don’t have to read that series to understand what is happening here. We do get a brief look at a few of the Eon Warrior couples in this though which was a nice surprise. I enjoyed seeing them again and seeing how their futures are playing out.
“He was realizing that taking care of Kennedy Black had become a part of his duty, too. One he was desperate to carry out. He wanted to take care of her in every way possible.”
Kennedy and Ashtin were a great couple. They had an instant attraction that led to a lot of heavy flirty and making out at first. While this is technically an instant love story, it didn’t feel like it because they are dealing with so many different threats that it was a longer period of time than just a few days. I really enjoyed their relationship though. Kennedy was a smart and capable heroine who keeps Ashtin on his toes. She never backs down and was the perfect partner for Ashtin. Ashtin was known as a controlled and steady man who has never let anyone close. I loved seeing him fall, and fall hard, for Kennedy. One of my favorite microtropes is when a hero loses his shit when the heroine almost gets hurt and it just made me love Ashtin more.
“He’d lay his life down for her. This woman from Earth had earned his respect. She was smart, capable, courageous. A true partner. And she saw him, not just the dedicated knightmaster.”
The Oronis Knights' enemy is an alien species called Gek’Dragar. They were defeated by the Oronis Knights centuries ago and have returned to try and take over again. This involves kidnapping the Knightqueen. These two alien species are very interesting and dangerous. While we do get to see some of what both species are capable of, I am very excited to learn more in future books. Overall, this is a very fascinating world with great characters. Hackett does a great job at creating rich and unique worlds and pairing them with fantastic characters. I can’t wait to read book two and see what happens next.
Trigger Warnings: kidnapping; injuries; reference to death of parents during archeological expedition; references to child abandonment;

DNF at 33% ADULT Sci-fi Alpha Alien Male🐺 Romance💕 Nothing to see here folks. Move on..... The novel starts out in a vacuum and stays there.
I've read plenty of Author Carven's books📚 over the years and enjoyed most of them. This one is a formula book and a miss for me. Try one of her earlier novels.
The the first part of this book is based on Earth being framed for the kidnapping of the Queen… the frame job is so bad… it’s lazy writing at best. The one enemy warrior they capture happens to have an Earth tablet on them, and is in possession of knowledge that Earth provided them with the info? Please, wouldn’t the information for the schematics have been distributed to the warriors on their alien devices? How many tablets did earth provide, and who is this warrior to know who their sources were. And what motive does Earth have. We know Earth is in desperate need of allies. Why would they provoke a superior race who is buddy buddy with the most powerful ally earth currently has? Plus, how did the power go out? I doubt Earth was given that much information about how the defenses work. It sounds more like an inside job. The fact that no one points this out is annoying. And if the Knights really thought Earth was involved, wouldn’t all earthlings be thrown in prison. They wouldn’t be allowed to leave and have the chance to inform the bad guys.
There isn’t much world building, but since this is a spin-off of another series, I give a little leeway. Beep was my favorite character. The oronis safe house made me cringe. I felt it was there so they had a place to hook up, and considering there was a perfectly good ship they could use… wasted paper that could have gone to world building. The dialogue was difficult to get through at times. Their backstories felt forced. Not thought out. Like they need a difficult past to make their story work. Given the shortness of the book, it was a wasted effort. Two workaholics suddenly faced with the possibility of love would give it enough drama. How about instead of it being the first time they felt cared for, it was the first time the cared for someone more than duty and work? Love is selfless, no? It would had helped the plot along, and more time for character and plot development.
I’m torn. Part of me wants to know who took the Knightqueen because in my head there is a major conspiracy at work. The other part is telling me the author is phoning in this plot, hence the premise, and I’ll be very disappointed if I continue.
Can’t say enough good things about this book! My only regret is the next book isn’t out until July. This is a spin-off from the Eon Warriors series which you don’t need to read first but I highly recommend doing so and couples from that series appear in this book.
The Oronis Knights are allies of Eon and forging an alliance with the Terrans (Earth). Ashtin is the Knightmaster - head of Oronis’ Knightforce - and skeptical of Earth’s inhabitants. Kennedy is part of the delegation from Earth, she’s also an anthropologist with an insatiable curiosity and love of travel and learning. While attending a ball, the sworn enemy of Oronis attacks- kidnapping their Knightqueen and the evidence points to the Terrans as complicit in her abduction. Ashtin and Kennedy set out to find her and along the way find the truth and true love. Steamy, action filled and heartfelt, great start to a new series and the future couples look just as promising.
The romance in this just does not click for me. A combination of it being too insta-love and also an issue with romantic moments cropping up in what feels like very inorganic moments in the plot!
This is a very well thought out world. I love the different species and the characters are strong. With such a strong leading lady this hero really does need to be on his best game. I’m looking forward to the next book. A brilliant performance.
Going back to the sci-fi world of Anna Hackett is always a delight. We meet Kennedy Black and Knightmaster Austin Caydor in this newest spin-off series.
These two are strong and steadfast in their beliefs as well as fixed in their plans of life. However, fate has plans they were not anticipating. Ashtin is a guard for the Knightqueen of Oronis and when faction attacks and kidnaps the queen, Kennedy is blamed for consorting with the enemy. In order to prove her innocence, Kennedy goes with Ashtin to try and save the queen.
This is where Hackett differs just a little bit from her typical style. Ashtin and Kennedy get their HEA. It isn’t without action and fight for they safety but she does leave us with a cliffy in a sense. Now there is NO cliffhanger with the couple, their relationship transpires in a way that works well. The story itself is not fully resolved, but there is no doubt that this book is a must read.
The imagination that Hackett displays with the continuation of this alien works is amazing. I am loving this world so much, and hope you do as well.
PoP: 64% Type of Series: Series of Standalones with overarching Storyline
There were some sweet moments, but the story and characters were too simplistic for my liking. The relationship was very much instalove; as much as I liked that the characters resolved their dislike for one another fairly early on (leading to a low angst story overall), the development of their romance was extremely rapid. The writing isn't detailed in describing the characters' personal, inner thoughts and reflections, which made the romance seem even more sudden.
“Ashtin,” Kennedy said. “I love you.” He’d heard her, in the midst of trying to escape the Gek’Dragar, but a part of him hadn’t quite believed it. “No one ever has before.” She cupped his cheek. “I’ll love you so hard, you’ll never, ever remember what it feels like not to be loved.” “And I love you, Kennedy. You’ll never, ever remember what it feels like to be left behind.” (p. 212)
This was a fab series opener and, in total 'Anna' style, is a thrilling reading ride! I really enjoyed the tension between Ashtin and Kennedy. He didn't trust humans, as he didn't really know them or their concept of honour. Kennedy, a xenoanthropologist, is stoked to be part of the delegation to court a new people. However, she didn't expect sinister attacks, kidnapping and a fair few opportunities to either show off her fighting skills and determination, or outright saving our hero, Ashtin. Lol! He comes to respect both her honour and strength and lets himself open up to love. Expect a high octane read to have you madly flipping pages to see more of this exciting new world and the HEAs along the way. Good fun!
As a Star Citizen player, I have to say... Anna Hackett is making me very happy with all these alien books. I need more of this story... Can't wait for the next one..
Ugh this was good but I really wish it had been more slow burn. The romance got a bit too sappy/cringey by the end. "I will never leave you." "My parents did." Ma'am what??? Now is not the time for that random trauma association?? That felt so odd and out of place like I cannot believe she said that lmao.
That all said, I really loved the FMC!! She was a badass but still realistic as a person, and I liked how she refused to be a damsel. The man was fine. I felt like the insta-love didn't fit with his character. Slow burn would've brought a lotttt more angst. The dialogue and descriptions also got a bit repetitive sometimes. There was one page where these alien dog creatures were described to us (the reader), and then the man described them to the FMC a few lines later literally verbatim. I'm assuming that was an editing mistake maybe??
Who was my favorite character though??? BEEP!!!! I fucking loved Beep lmao. Absolutely stole the show.
The plot was good! Fun little space book. Very ~tense~ and dramatic. Would've been more dramatic if the MCs weren't so lovey dovey though. The insta-lust was annoying (though I'm hesitant to call it insta-lust because it honestly wasn't thaaat horny. They were just attracted to each other. The horniness showed up at a reasonable time later on, and it wasn't over the top. Just kinda sappy).
Had some banger quotes too, such as "he looked hot and that annoyed her." I too am annoyed by hot men who put me in jail immediately after kissing me. We love trust issues.
Oh speaking of annoying, the characters were kind of annoying about their trauma... like... sorry that nobody loved you as kids but like... did we really need to bring it up as often as we did? Bc it was VERY often. Like. Veryyy often. And it wasn't even relevant to the situations like they would flat out just say it. It would've been much more impactful if it was a little nuanced, ya know? There aren't many grown adults who just walk around telling people "yeah my parents didn't love me enough as a kid." "Yeah I can tell but trust me you're enough! You matter just as you are <3" Like I'm sorry but ya'll JUST met like 2 days ago so... kind of a weird convo to be having... while being hunted by carnivorous alien wildlife...
Compared to other books I've read by Anna Hackett, this book just felt a little underdeveloped. While the whole concept of the book was unique and on point, the romance and relationship itself felt a little more like a fanfic. It just didn't have the depth there that was in her other books. Ashtin seemed weak compared to Kennedy, who magically knew how to do everything and also was a better fighter than Ashtin. It's puzzling to me how he's supposed to be this well trained knight and yet, he misses so many things that Kennedy picks up on. She saved his butt in pretty much every battle they encountered and just seemed invincible through the whole thing. She honestly overshadowed him too much in that it seemed like Kennedy was more of a Knightmaster than Ashtin was. As for their romance, it was a little bit on the insta-love side of things and the romance lacked depth at times when the two main characters were conversing. Honestly, I really hate to say this, but it felt like a teenage romance at times with how they talked to each other when discussing their feelings. I would have liked to have seen a little more depth in general and a little more of an internal struggle on Ashtin's part since being a Knightmaster was such a high privilege with a lot of responsibility. This all isn't to say that I didn't enjoy the book because the whole plot was very cleverly done and the world building was very unique and creative. I liked the whole concept behind the Knightmaster's power source. One thing I would definitely be interested to learn a little more about is the whole history behind the Knightqueen and how that came to be. And too, the runes on the old planet were interesting to me that a little backstory on that would be interesting to learn about! Overall, this book just could have been fine-tuned a little more. And again, this is the first book of Hackett's that I've had this opinion on. I've really enjoyed her other books that I've read. I'm hoping that the next book in the series is a little better!
NOTE: this ends with a small book-hook type cliffhanger: the main characters from this book aren’t in that hook, but others characters are. It rates about a 3/5 on the trauma scale- anxious for answers, but not yet emotionally invested!
Aboard the new (and somewhat experimental) Terran ship “The Helios”, Kennedy Black, a Xenoanthropologist with the Terran Spacecorps, is hoping to help their team negotiate an alliance with the Oronis people. When the enemy of the Oronis kidnaps their queen, suspicion is thrown upon the Terran delegation, and Kennedy teams up with Knightmaster Ashtin to hunt down the perpetrators and prove Earth’s innocence.
Kennedy is a well trained, tough and smart sub-captain. She’s adaptable and stubborn, two traits she definitely uses in this story. Ashtin is structured and strong. He has his code and sticks to it, even if it’s not quite what he wants- he is a dutiful knight with a code of chivalry. Beep is a cute droid- a flying, tiny R2D2 type, with his own way of communicating, and suspiciously sentient. He provides the cute and humour factors!
We’re back in Anna Hackett’s Eon Warrior universe, and this time we’re getting to know the Oronis Knights- another humanoid race that Earth is hoping to make an alliance with, and one we briefly encountered in the Eon warrior series. You don’t need to have read the Eon books to read this, but I do recommend it if only because some of those adventures are referenced briefly, and because we do see some old favourites from Eon; but the focus is on some new characters with a new ongoing background story, and a whole new team and ship.
There is lots of action (it *is* an Anna Hackett book), some romance and sexy times, and a little learning about this new race of beings; as well as the setup of a new world and adventure for our enjoyment; all of which provides a thoroughly entertaining, fast read for the sci-fi romance enthusiast.
Kennedy Black is a xenoanthropologist who works for Space Corps. She craves adventure, and her latest assignment is to pave the way for the ambassadors from Earth with the Oronis Knightforce. She’s excited to meet them and to work with them, as they are legendary. Knightmaster Ashtin Caydor is the leader of the Oronis Knightforce; his raison d être is to protect his planet, his people, and his knightqueen. Unfortunately, his planet has a deadly enemy. While the Oronis Knightforce has been honing their skills over the years, so has their enemy—the Gek’Dragar. There was a deadly battle a while back, and the Oronis thought they had vanquished them for good. However, recently, there have been lots of unexplained security glitches mixed with increased activity around the Gek’Dragar. On the night of a big Oron celebration, the Gek’Dragar capture Carys, the Oronis knightqueen. All signs point to Kennedy and the group from Earth as being responsible for the abduction, so Kennedy makes it a priority to prove her innocence and the innocence of the others from Earth.
To do this, she has to work closely with Ashtin. It follows that as they get to know each other, they begin to trust each other and they discover that their skills complement each other. They face adversity and danger, and encounter good as well as bad characters along the way. Soon they are inseparable and working as a strong team. There is a bunch of hawt chemistry at work with these two protagonists, and they gain knowledge about where to find Knightqueen Carys. They don’t actually find her, as that part of the story continues beyond this book, but they get really close at times and they follow every clue they find.
Action, adventure, danger, challenge, and sexual chemistry surround these two protagonists. Expecting anything less from this author is unrealistic, as she always delivers!
This was a pretty good story, seem to be well written, a few editing issues needed, but the main characters were engaging. Definitely a soulmate situation, instant attraction. Stalwart alien knight loses the battle of not being enamored with visiting human Kennedy. Enemy attacks, Earth implicated as a conspirator, Kennedy is going to prove otherwise and off she and the Knight go. And I liked the personality of her drone, who she named Beep. Thought that was cute. While I appreciate good action in with the romance, them having to fight and run for their lives, at every time they venture somewhere else was a little too much to me. And why would he not call for other Knights when he has good information of where their queen may be, why is it just him and her going? Doesn’t make sense. When they traveled to the moon where they tracked the enemy ship to, they had to go through an asteroid field, where there be dragons, apparently space dragons, lol; would’ve been nice to see the dragons, but the dragons not pursue them, them being able to be stealthy enough to get past them. If the moon that they went to was inhabitable, as was written, then why when they land on the moon does their helmet retract? How is it the atmosphere is breathable? Description seemed to be more of a planet, rather than a moon, and it was written that the planet had been destroyed, the moon remaining. Relationship was pretty much instalove, so not a lot of relationship building, but we did get a lot of interaction between them, so that was good. There’s not a cliffhanger at the end, but the story’s not over, next book moves to another couple as the pursuit of the missing queen continues.
