Born in Visalia, California, I'm a small town girl at heart. I love central California's golden foothills, oak trees, and the miles of farmland. In my mind, there's nothing sweeter in the world than the heady fragrance of orange blossoms on a sultry summer night.

As a little girl I spent hours on my bed, staring out the window, dreaming of far off places, fearless knights, and happy-ever-after endings. In my imagination I was never the geeky bookworm with the thick coke-bottle glasses, but a princess, a magical fairy, a Joan-of-Arc crusader.

My parents fed my imagination by taking our family to Europe for a year when I was thirteen. The year away changed me (I wasn't a geek for once!) and overseas I discovered a huge and wonderful world with different cultures and customs. I loved everything about Europe, but felt especially passionate about Italy and those gorgeous Italian men (no wonder my first very Presents hero was Italian).

I confess, after that incredible year in Europe, the travel bug bit, and bit hard. I spent much of my high school and college years abroad, studying in South Africa, Japan and Ireland. South Africa remains a country of my heart, the people, the land and politics complex and heart-wrenching.

After my years of traveling and studying I had to settle down and earn a living. With my Bachelors degree from UCLA in American Studies, a program that combines American literature and American history, I've worked in sales and marketing, as well as a director of a non-profit foundation. Later I earned my Masters in Writing from the University of San Francisco and taught jr. high and high school English.

I now live in Seattle and Hawaii with my three sons. I never mind a rainy day, either, because that's when I sit at my desk and write stories about far-away places, fascinating people, and most importantly of all, love. I like a story with a happy ending. We all do.

Heroine is pregnant, she lost her lover and she now gets married to his brother who is the hero of the story. I find this gross and disgusting. Not for me!

Unromantic, painful and depressing.
Clare is simply awful. I loathed her and the way she treated Rocco after he said he loved her. There was no romance here at all just bitterness, anger and downright cruelty. I’ve rarely hated a book as much as this. I’d give it minus 5 stars.

I didn’t believe that they would be happy together and wished that Rocco had found someone else. Jane Porter has a gift for creating unpleasant heroines but this one really was the pits.

She behaved badly. Kept her son away from Rocco, and Rocco away from her son, which hurt him. I never understood why. Then she never said ‘sorry’. I wanted Rocco to tell her to get lost, that he’d found someone else. So very disappointing.

And the idea that you’d leave the Caribbean to spend December in a seaside villa near Rome is simply ludicrous. The average temperature is 13 degrees centigrade - not exactly swimming weather! I’ve noticed this is a common error. Mills and Boon’s US writers thinking the Mediterranean is hot all year round. They’ve clearly never visited in the winter. Last time I visited Rome in December, I needed a winter coat, hat and gloves - not a swimsuit!

The h and the H talked about his dead brother/her dead fiance, so many times that he overtook the book. I want to read about the MCs, not the dead dude.
H loved h when she started dating his brother, so he was cold to her. Brother dies, a couple years pass and H finds out that h had a child. Child acts like a freaking preteen, not a three-year-old. Why can't people write kids accurately?
H offers marriage to give the boy a family. They fall in love and H confesses that he's loved h all along.
She freaks out (like, WHY?) and leaves him. Then is mad he didn't chase after her (when she blocked him on everything and even denied him entry to his nephew's birthday party!).
Months go by and she finally gets a clue and they get back together.
The ending was cute with the little kids. But still, girl, you have a handsome guy who confesses that he loved you and you're mad about that?

Quick read,I enjoyed the romance in this book. The age of Adriano should’ve been around 8-9….he represented a much older child, just my opinion.

Clare & Rocco, 2.5 stars

There were things I liked about this book. I liked that there wasn’t a need to throw the first husband under the bus. I generally like stories where it’s clear early on—to the MMC and the reader—that the MMC has feelings for the FMC. And the story more or less built on that well for the first half.

But in general, it felt like the first half was a prologue or set-up for a longer story, and not having the space in an HP, the second half was all over the place.

I felt like I was doing a lot of mental gymnastics to maintain the thread.

The idea that the love of his life writes him, and he tosses it in a pile of tax paperwork? The idea that now he’s 100% determined to win her, but for 3 years has been radio silent? What really changed? His nephew?

He helicopters in when they drive the rest of the book. How dramatic and unnecessary.

He says they have time, but then rushes her to marry.

The manufactured rift really tanked this book for me. Was Rocco selfish, when he probably never would have gotten in contact if not for the nephew? When he learned of his nephew, he didn’t think, “Ah ha! My bargaining chip!”

The proposal wasn’t altruistically solely for his nephew, but his feelings for the two of them were genuine…he wasn’t putting on act for their benefit. So his “guilt” seemed misplaced. His “confession” unnecessary.

And then her. “You can tell me what’s worrying you”….hours later leaves under the cloak of darkness and jumps straight to divorce. What?

And then just stonewalls him…they spent significantly longer apart than they spent together….Before finally coming to the conclusion that they should “talk about it”. What?!

And he just takes her back? If that lady showed up on my island, I’d be like, “Your reaction, and these 9+ months apart taught me who you really are, and I do not want to be with someone like that.” Instead, he’s still all like, “It’s you or no one!” What? All muscle and no backbone, apparently.

I guess you could say dysfunctional people deserve one another, but it doesn’t make for a satisfying story.

The Convenient Cosentino Wife by Jane Porter is a beautifully written, marriage of convenience with some sadness, a family connection, coming together, past issues and so much more. An escape to exotic locations, with gorgeous scenery and magnificent homes, the clear ocean waters, set the background for this dramatic story between Clare and her almost brother-in-law, Rocco.

When Clare Redmond’s fiancé dies in an accident a few days before their wedding, she is devastated. Seeing his brother Rocco Consentino at the funeral is very difficult for her since he has always been cold and unfriendly towards her. Once they part ways she never expects to see him again. Discovering she is pregnant, and having given birth to a son, Clare sends a message to Rocco; only it takes a long time for him to receive it and an even longer time to locate her since she has retreated to a safe and isolated place. Rocco, believing he was the last member of the Cosentino family, shows up unexpectedly. Clare is not quite happy that her son, Adriano takes an immediate liking to his uncle. Rocco suggests a marriage of convenience for Adriano’s sake; and after careful consideration Clare agrees. Clare’s feelings do grow for Rocco, until he shares some startling information about his real reasons for marrying her. Clare is so shocked that she decides to leave and have no communication; at least until she realizes her true feeling for him. I highly recommend The Convenient Cosentino Wife to other readers.

What a lovely story.

Rocco Cosentino has lost his brother. His brother's fiancée, Clare, is also grieving. The story could have ended there...but it didn't.

As the last of the Cosentino line, Rocco finally finds the note Clare had written him 2 1/2 years before. He is NOT the last of the Cosentino's. His brother fathered a child with Clare before he died. Rocco wants a relationship with the young boy and makes a visit to Clare's villa in Italy. Unbeknownst to Clare, Rocco was attracted to her from their first meeting. He never said a word to his brother or to her. Now, wanting to bring Adriano, his nephew, into the Cosentino family, he proposes a solution.

Possible spoiler below so don't read if you want to finish the book first!

Now let's talk about the potential ick factor. I have no problem with Rocco and Clare getting together. This is the way it's been done for centuries around the world, the surviving brother takes care of the family. So, although this might be off putting to many, the book is able to downplay two brothers loving the same woman, and make it more about love, forgiveness, and healing.

I loved the story from beginning to end. The ending was poignant and a perfect happily ever after.

The Convenient Cosentino Wife by Jane Porter is an emotional tale. Tragedy forced Clare into a life she hadn't envisioned. Grieving, she can't understand the animosity Rocco has towards her. Years pass and Rocco reappears in her life as he has discovered his nephew, the child that Clare bore his late brother. He proposes a marriage of convenience to ensure the child heritage. Clare reluctantly agrees to the arrangement, but she is plagued by the unexpected feelings Rocco elicits in her. Rocco is a complex man with conflicted feelings. I think if he hadn't been attracted to Clare, they could have been friends. The story is full of deep emotion and Clare and Rocco have to work through feelings of guilt in order to be together. Adriano was a sweetheart and I feel he displayed more common sense than the adults at times. I loved watching the world through his eyes. He was such an old soul in a young body.

Clare is raising her young son alone--her fiance died before she knew she was pregnant--no other family around. She lives in a remote area with security to protect them, all while running her international business.
A helicopter unexpectedly lands on her property, and her late fiance's brother, Rocco, emerges--he has a list of demands, including marriage to secure her son's birthright. After spending time with Rocco and seeing how her son responds to him, she agrees to a marriage, with some conditions.
When Rocco reveals hidden secrets, it's more than Clare can handle, and she leaves with her son and security detail. One problem, she has fallen in love with Rocco, and they miss him, but is it enough for forgiveness and to restore the marriage?
A fantastic romance with a beautiful setting, passion, and a chance for a family and a future together.

This was a great story. A marriage of convenience between a single mother and her deceased fiance’s brother.
Claire’s fiancé died before she knew she was pregnant, then when she informs Rocco (her fiancé’s brother) about her son’s birth, it takes him a while to get the message, but he visits them and his nephew takes to him right away. Rocco thought he was the last of the Cosentino line, but this nephew means there is another heir. So he suggests marriage for the boy’s sake and Clare agrees.
There was drama and sadness and secrets and love. I couldn’t stop reading this story as I had to see how everything played out.

I enjoyed this book, quite a lot actually. Clare, who gives birth to her late fiance's son, let's her child's uncle know about the birth. However, Rocco, caught up in his own grief about losing his brother, doesn't see the letter for a long time. Once he does and realizes his nephew will carry on the Cosentino family name, he goes to meet him. However, he has a secret that he fails to share with Clare. Will Clare be able to move forward after she finds out his secret?

Honestly, I didn't think the secret was that big, but it did give the book that "will they overcome this" story line.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Change is difficult to embrace when your memory of childhood is without love or affection. I understand Clare's fears, truly,... but I daresay the author took it a step too far by having her violently reject Rocco.
Clare's cruelty for his loving her prior to their marriage of convenience was senseless... and ruthless. Nevertheless, Rocco, the paragon of patience and virtue took it all in stride. He, unlike most human beings, did not need an apology because perhaps the author and thereby Clare, lives by that silly declaration from that bittersweet movie- "love means never having to say you're sorry."

An escape to exotic locations, Harlequin said it best for this incredible new book from my favorite author, Jane Porter. The luscious scenery and magnificent homes, the clear ocean waters, set the background for this dramatic story between Clare and her almost brother-in-law, Rocco. The life of wealth does not mean a lack of emotional angst and fury for the last of the Cosentino family, or so he thought. Finding out his younger brother’s fiancé had given birth to a son opened a myriad of possibilities. I thoroughly enjoyed this journey of romance with such difficult twists and emotions.

I voluntarily read an advanced reader’s copy of this book for an honest opinion.

There wasn't anything I didn't enjoy while reading this book. The Convenient Cosentino Wife by Jane Porter gave me just what I was looking for at the time. It kept pulling me back to read what was going to happen next. Some sadness, a family connection, coming together, past issues and so much more. For sure would recommend this book and any other one by Jane Porter.

I literally read this in one sitting, I couldn't put it down! Claire was lovely and fierce and also so closed off from the world after losing her love. Rocco was lovely and broody and trying to fight his attraction to his deceased brother's love. Also, I loved little Adriano, although he acted much older than his two year self. I wish the ending had been more robust, it felt a little rushed, but obviously I loved it since I couldn't stop reading to I finished!

What a great story!!! Rocco and Clare were both on different life paths until Clare’s soon-to-be husband and Rocco’s brother died in an accident. To make life more difficult, there was soon to be a baby, her fiancée’s. This news brought Rocco back into Clare’s life after he found out about the child. This story takes place in Italy and definitely has your mind wanting to go traveling to Italy as well. Go read the rest of the book!!! It was well written and had me pulling for them both!!!

A rich and elegant locale is the perfect setting for passionate love and loyalty to family. A single mother faces the inevitable when her deceased fiance’s brother comes to meet his nephew. This meeting causes confusion to surface as there is more to the brother’s dislike of her than she knows. Deep emotion throughout.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

story: 4/5 (Jane Porter can really come up with stories that are more than mere fluff)
characters: 3/5 (both too rich and too surrounded by staff, but not at all stupid)
dialogues: 2.5/5 (what little dialogue there was, was clever and mostly non-cringy)
angst: at first 1/5, then ramped up, unnecessarily, in the 3rd act to 4/5
steaminess: 2.5/5 (JP can write the steam well, yet she chooses to phone it in - it's as if she does not want to do it)

I enjoyed this story very much.
Clare is strong woman, she is single mother, who can handle anything.
She will handle her son's uncle with no problem, or that's what she thought so.
Rocco, will keep his true feelings to Clare from her, until he no longer keep.
Lovely storyline, loved it very much.

This is Rocco and Claire's story. Rocco tragically lost his brother who was Clair's fiancé. Rocco and Claire went their separate ways until three years later when Claire notifies him, he is an uncle. They come together for Adriano Claires son. This is a story of loss, love and forgiveness. Heartwarming and a wonderful book.

Love, forgiveness, angst, and healing. Two “enemies” fighting their attraction around a marriage of convenience. Layers of the characters personalities unfold throughout the storyline which I enjoyed. Loved the reading escape to another location which was beautifully portrayed. Wonderful writing as usual from Jane Porter.

This is my first presents book. Oh the conflict in this story was wonderful enough to keep me reading! Clare’s fiancee dies, and she is devastated. She’s pregnant. His brother Rocco has always been cold to her. He finds her and suggests a marriage of convenience. I loved the journey and twists and turns here. This book had good emotion drawing me in from start to finish. A fun, quick read.

Heroine loves (yes, still) hero's brother, but upon discovering that she had hero's brother's son, hero says they should get married. The rest of the book is just the hero hanging out with his nephew and heroine, persuading heroine to marry him, and it's all very civilized.

Like I keep saying, I read HPs for angst and heartbreak and some unrealistic plots. Not whatever this was.

The double dipping was the least of this story’s problem. It was BORING. The H was beta and very robotic. The h was just..there. No connection between the MCs. No real angst. Too much introspection and telling. Skip it.
