4.25⭐
Genre ~ women's fiction
Publication date ~ July 4, 2023
Page Count ~ 300
Audio length ~ 10 hours 9 minutes
Narrator ~ Emma Noakes
POV ~ single 1st
Featuring ~ characters in their 30's, small town, slow burn, no steamage

Sadie has always believed in happily ever after and the magic of finding love, and she thinks the abandoned castle nearby is the reason it's possible. When the owner wants to sell it, all of the residents on Ever After Street fight to keep it from becoming a supermarket as they think it's a big draw for tourists to come to their quaint town. But, estate agent, Witt, is just there to do his job, right?

There are a bunch, maybe a bit too many, Disney references, which makes complete sense because fairy tales are what the whole plot is about. I loved the names of the shops: The Cinderella Shop, Rapunzel's Hair Salon, 1001 Nights restaurant and Tale As Old As Time bookshop.

All of the characters are likable, except one, of course. Sadie and Witt were pretty much made for each other. Both would rather be on the sidelines than face crowds, both lost their parents at a very young age. Witt is quite a distinguished gentlemen with his endearing stutter. Cousin Scarlett was a lovely addition to the story. All of the small business owners were lovely, as well.

What would a fairy tale themed book be without an evil character ~ non~existent that's what. Aunt Ebony is her name and she raised Sadie from the age of 10, when her parents died. It wasn't always bad, but somehow Ebony got obsessed with how she thinks the shop should be run and her and Sadie are butting heads about it. Sadie is 35 but doesn't really seem her age. I kind of get why she let Ebony dictate her life, but I didn't like it. I'm glad she finally stood up to her and went after what she wanted.

How fun would it be to nose around in a 93 room castle? I would love to get lost in one and yank every sconce and pull every book to search for secrets and hidden rooms.

Overall, it was a bit repetitive and quite predictable, but that did not take away from my enjoyment at all. It was a slow burn as they definitely took their time to get to know each other. I'm happy with all the plans that were discussed in the end. I see that this is the beginning of a series, but I don't think the next book will be a continuation of their story, but more of a themed series.

Side note ~ I love the vibrant cover.

In a Nutshell: Just what you would expect from a romance novel, plus a gorgeous, fairy-tale-like setting.

Story Synopsis:
Thirty-five year old Sadie has spent most of her life following the wishes of her aunt Ebony, who has raised her after her parents’ death. ‘The Cinderella Shop’, run by Ebony and where Sadie works as a seamstress, is on Ever After Street, a cosy location where all shops are made around fairy-tale themes, and there’s even an old castle nearby. When her aunt forbids her to go to a special farewell ball at the castle before it is sold to a supermarket, Sadie sneaks her way there in secret, never expecting to meet a charming man who blows her off her feet.
The next day, she discovers that the man is none other than a real estate agent named Witt, who is in charge of selling the castle. Even worse, he doesn’t recognise her at all as the belle at the ball. However, he has come to their shop in the hopes of finding the girl who ran away at midnight, little knowing that he is speaking to her.
Can Sadie use this opportunity to turn around the fortunes of her beloved shop, and maybe, change her own life too?
The story comes to us in the first person perspective of Sadie.

I am not much of a romance reader nowadays. In my teen/young adult years, I would have sighed and swooned over such a story and given it a wholehearted 5 stars. But with middle age comes a sense of fatigue, where almost every romance novel looks the same in plot and approach. As such, I have become very selective in picking up books from this genre. One of the few romance authors whose works I will pick without many questions is Jaimie Admans.

Admans has an amazing ability of creating magical settings for her plots. When I had read ‘The Post Box at the North Pole’, I was astounded at how well she has crafted the Christmas-themed holiday village. This time around too, she has blown me away with her beautiful fairy-tale themed nook with a lovely name of ‘Ever After Street’. Yeah yeah, fairy tales are regressive and misogynistic and what not – I get it. After all, princes didn’t bother with consent and princesses had only one task - finding their ‘one true love’ to rescue themselves. But I can’t deny how these very stories transported me into a dreamlike world in my childhood. Keeping aside the outdated elements, fairy tales sparked wonder and awe (and also some ‘awwws’.) This book recreates the same old magic.

It’s not just the presence of the castle and the idea of shops themed around fairy tales that makes a difference here. It’s how the author makes everything sound realistic without being farfetched, and in how she describes the location so well that you can picture the whole scene clearly in your head. The book is full of Easter egg references to various fairy tales (let’s be clear: the Disney version of the stories and not the original darker tales), so if you are a fairy tale movie fan, you will have a lot of fun along the way discovering the references scattered here and there.

The author also has a great ability of creating vulnerable male characters. Witt isn’t presented as the perfect Prince Charming who can’t do anything wrong. On the contrary, he stammers, he jokes, and he even helps around a dress shop without any threat to his masculinity. In other words, Witt is loveable rather than just admirable, and this makes a big difference. Though I must add one thing: he never sounded like someone who was almost forty.

I liked Sadie’s character as well. Usually, I would not buy the idea of a woman in her mid-thirties being such a pushover and so dominated by her aunt, but the plot explains well the reason for her shyness and blind conformity to Ebony’s rules, and also how she finally builds up the courage to stand up for herself. Ebony is a decent character, almost like a typical fairy-tale villain though somewhat flat in portrayal. But her daughter Scarlett is a wonderful and well-sketched secondary character. I loved how she was not sketched as a clichéd ‘evil stepsister’ kind of character. I wish she had an even greater role to play.

In terms of plot, the story is pretty straightforward and mostly predictable, though it does have a couple of surprises. I could guess these much before they popped up on the page, but I was still invested enough in the proceedings. After all, no one reads romances for surprise twists – the couple will obviously have a HEA ending. What we read romances for is the journey to that ending, and in this book, the journey is stunning. The romance being steam-free was a huge added positive for me.

Through Sadie’s and Ebony’s interactions, we also have a nice conflict about how a business is supposed to be run. Considering how much I hate the word ‘influencer’, I obviously was against Ebony’s method of buttering insta celebrities in high hopes of name and fame. Sadie’s ideas were more conservative, but they spoke better to my heart. I like how she understood her business’s core competencies and wanted to build a brand around that, rather than running behind something that may be elusive and transient. Happy customers can lead to positive word-of-mouth publicity, and that automatically generates more revenue. There! A practical business lesson from a romance book – how often do you get to say that?

Of course, the book isn’t perfect. It is a bit slow-going and gets a bit repetitive in between. The only major thing that bugged me was the number of times physical gestures and touches are brought up in the couple’s scenes – blushing, hugging, putting head on shoulders, handholding, touching noses, fingers on elbow, hand around waist…. OMG! In all fairness, it seemed like both Sadie and Witt had touch as their love language, and mine isn’t touch, so that could be one reason for my irritation with the overload. So I guess this is more of a ME problem than a BOOK problem.

All in all, if you love romances of the Hallmark kind, and would want a story with a wondrous setting and relatable characters, this book has a strong chance of providing you with satisfaction.

This is the first of a planned series of standalone stories set on Ever After Street. Count this fairy tale lover in for all subsequent books!

A shoutout to that scrumptilicious cover art – so perfect for the story and for this genre!

4 stars.

My thanks to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for the DRC of “A Midnight Kiss on Ever After Street”. This review is voluntary and contains my honest opinion about the book.

The book is available for free to Kindle Unlimited subscribers.

PS: A query not related to the book - Fellow reviewers, would you write ‘a HEA ending’ (pronouncing HEA as ‘Happily Ever After’ in your head’) or ‘an HEA ending’ (pronouncing HEA just by the letters)? This point always confuses me.

This is a lovely, magical modern-day fairytale take on Cinderella, taking place in a small village in the UK. A long-abandoned castle at the end of Ever After Street is being sold to build a supermarket and a masked ball is being held for the locals. Ever After Street has shops that capitalize on the fairytale theme. Sadie is a seamstress for the Cinderella Dress Shop, started by her deceased mom and owned by her aunt. The shop owners unite to boycott the ball, but Sadie secretly goes to see the castle where her parents met and fell in love. The evening is lovely as she meets Witt, a tall, handsome, and awkwardly endearing man. The rest is based on Prince Charming finding his Cinderella who ran away at midnight but so much more with secrets and hurts of real people, wonderful characters. I am looking to reading more of the series. I read this through Amazon Prime reading.

Jaimie Admans has accustomed us to her brilliant writing and modern fairy tails, but A Midnight Kiss On Ever After Street is even more enchanted and delightful than her previous works.

This is the story of a modern Cinderella, Sadie, but don’t worry it’s not that severe and upsetting.

Sadie works at her late mother shop on Ever After Street, with her aunt who doesn’t take into consideration her proposals to avoid bankruptcy, and she treats her only as a seamstress, ordering her dresses after dresses. She has lost the joy her work used to give her and all the sparks in her life, until she meets a Charming Prince at a masquerade ball at the Castle.

Sadie was a sad, pitiful character at the beginning of this novel, but with some encouragements from her cousin and especially from her Prince, Witt, she finally decides to make the changes that will truly help her make her life better.
I liked how her growth was organic, her journey towards happiness was wonsome and enjoyable.

The relationship between Sadie and Witt wasn't easy thanks to some miscommunications and secrets, but destiny and some luck will make everything right.

I highly recommend this novel. Ever After Street and its Castle are the perfect setting for this nice story.

The ultimate feel-good Cinderella retelling that sees a wallflower seamstress falling for a grumpy 'prince' when they meet one night at a masquerade ball. Sweet and swoony, this was a fun read perfect for all the Disney Princess fans with great disability rep (MMC has a stutter). Good on audio too narrated by Emma Noakes. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early digital copy in exchange for my honest review!!

👎 As a Disney adult it takes a lot for me to say this... but there were simply just TOO MANY DISNEY REFERENCES!
👎 For me, this was just too corny and not in a good way.
👎 The characters gave me whiplash, they bounced so quickly from one personality to another.

One liner: Heartwarming and beautiful romance.

Synopsis: This is the story of Sadie Winters, a 35 year old orphan working as a seamstress in "The Cinderella Shop" on Ever After Street built on fairy tale themes. The shop and Sadie are being taken care by Ebony after her sister's passing. A masquerade ball open to everyone is being held in the old castle which is the center point of the Ever After Street. Sadie is dejected when her aunt Ebony forbids her from attending the ball. But with luck and some help from her cousin Scarlett, she is able to be Cinderella for the night and go to the castle for the ball. She meets her prince charming too out there. Unfortunately when the clock strikes at midnight, she has to ditch her prince charming and run back to her regular life. Next day, her prince charming (Witt) visits the shop in a desperate attempt to find his Cinderella but fails to identify her. Sadie is angry and upset but can she make anything in this to work in her favor or her dying Cinderella Shop ? The story is in first person POV of Sadie.

Positives
* This romance seemed realistic. It does not have a picture perfect heroine or hero with dashing looks and a rich one at that. This is about 2 middle aged normal people with flaws. They are your day to day normal people whom to you meet or see outside your setting. It makes the reader relate to the characters better. I loved the characterization.
* The setting of the story is gorgeous and the way the author handles the descriptions makes it so delectable
* The plot is pretty straight forward but the twists in them keeps it interesting.
* Both the MCs have good share of the story and have been developed pretty well with all their positives and their drawbacks handled well.
* Aunt Ebony is sketched like a proper step mother in Cinderella but her sudden transformation seems little out of place. I wish she had a POV for the readers to understand better about her.
* Scarlet is the cool cousin who comes and goes in the story and is developed well as a supporting character.
* Sadie seems too naive for a 35 year old but her character progression from being naive too being confident seems realistic and good.

Drawbacks:
The story does have some drawbacks though
* The story gets a little slow in the middle and gets a tad bit repetitive too. The initial descriptions of castle was a little too much for me. It felt dragged and after a point, I lost interest in knowing the castle.
* The story is from first person POV of Sadie and that comes with lot of mind voice too. Unfortunately, at places it was difficult to figure out as to where the dialogue stopped and the mind voice began. I wish there was a proper distinction.

A Beautiful read with such a gorgeous, swoon worthy cover.

My rating 4*

I was excited to start this new series from Admans because I have loved several of her books in the past. If you are after a tale brimming full of magic and love, this is definitely a keeper. I loved how Admans makes frequent references to well-known fairy tales and if you are well-versed in Disney films, you won’t resist being able to draw parallels here.

This is like a re-telling of Cinderella, except Sadie isn’t really up against an evil stepmother and ugly sisters. Her aunt Ebony (I can’t but not imagine Snow White here!) has taken over the running of the dress shop that Sadie’s mother had established except, Ebony’s marketing methods are rapidly sinking the business. Overlooking the shop is an abandoned castle that helps bring the magic to the wonderful Ever After Street, full of independent businesses that really play to the fairy tale setting. However, with news that the castle is going to be demolished for a supermarket, the locals are up in arms.

A castle needs to have a ball, right? And Sadie’s undercover attendance sees her cross paths with a mysterious and delightful stranger. It’s a perfect meet-cute that sees Sadie falling in love over a magical evening. Except when the clock strikes midnight, she has to rush back to the dress shop otherwise Ebony will find out that Sadie has gone against her wishes. Cue Prince Charming trying to find out the identity of his partner, and Sadie doing everything still to try and save the shop.

It’s a gorgeous story and I couldn’t get enough of the setting and delightful fairy tale references. You know that there is going to be a happy ever after, but it just takes a bit of time getting there. I felt frustrated for Sadie that she isn’t identified as being at the ball, but loved how the experience was able to alter the fate of the shop. Furthermore, Witt just seems like the perfect hero with his own flaws and I enjoyed how Admans portrayed him as a bit vulnerable but coming out of his shell thanks to Sadie’s influence.

I think it would be impossible to read this book and not be touched by the magic, nor make any comparisons to traditional fairy tales. The writer has certainly jam-packed the story with these parallels except they are with a modern twist. The setting of Ever After Street really captured my imagination and I cannot wait to continue reading this series.

With thanks to Boldwood books and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Review:
This was my first time reading a Contemporary Romance by Jaimie so i wasnt sure what to expect but i have to say i really loved this one. Reminded me alot of a Retelling of Cinderella meets The Aristocats.

The Characters were fun and enjoyable to read about. Sadie was definately my favorite especially her determination to go to the Ball with Witt which i quickly shipped them from the beginning.

The Setting was beautifully described which made me feel like i was actually in the book while reading, especially when the scenery of Ever After Street was described.

Overall a Beautifully Written Book 1 in this Contemporary Romance Series!! Can't wait to read Book 2 very soon!!

What a magical read. I was completely swept away with this story and loved the relationship between Witt and Sadie. A modern day take on Cinderella’s story, everything about this book was wonderful. The idyllic setting with the fairytale castle, the engaging characters with Sadie’s self confidence growing by the minute as the magic is worked between her and the shy Witt. The perfect escape read.

So Sweet

I loved the premise and the characters, and hope to see more in this series, but it was a bit too sweet to the point of being mushy, and the plot tension was dragged out to the point of being repetitive. So many inner monologue scenes were practically identical - this could have been a much shorter, sharper book. Look forward to future installments and hope they fill out a bit better with a touch more steam.

Full disclosure: Jaimie Admans is my best friend. I’ve been reading her books since her debut 11 years ago, and wouldn’t rate or review them if I didn’t truly love them. I’ve always said Jaimie’s books are like sunshine in book form - much like Jaimie herself is sunshine in human form - and I stand by that.

A Midnight Kiss on Ever After Street is the first book in Jaimie Admans’ new Ever After Street series. This book felt like a fairy tale for grown-ups, with its nostalgic nods to Disney movies and its magic and romance woven throughout. I want to live and work on Ever After Street, be friends with Sadie, and find myself a swoony hero like Witt.

I loved watching Sadie come into her own, learn to stand up for herself, and do what was right for her. She needed a push to get out of the rut she was stuck in, and Witt sparked that change in her and helped her dig deep to find her courage. I also really appreciated the disability rep with Witt having a speech impediment that left him self-conscious, anxious, and with a feeling of unworthiness. It was dealt with realistically and empathetically, and I loved that. Sadie and Witt saw each other’s true selves, including the parts no one else saw, and helped each other shine. It was beautiful.

I’m excited for the next book in the series!

It was pretty cute! I'd say it was a 3.5 but I'm rounding up to a 4 because I want to actually read the other books in the series. Likable, relatable, charming characters and although it was slow very occasionally, it still kept me hooked enough to see what happened next. Any fans of Disney or fairytales would love this one!

Saccharine sweet, but not necessarily in a bad way. Just the uplifting, optimistic, dreamy sort of story to help you get out of a nasty mood. Could have been more diverse.

It’s not very often that I’m lost for words when writing a review – and I’ll readily admit that I thought at first I may be a little old for fairy tales, and that this book really might not be for me. But by the end, I’d laughed and cried, desperately hoped for a happy ever after, and remembered why I love reading romance so very much. This whole book was simply gorgeous, so perfectly put together, the product of an extraordinary imagination, beautifully written, and an emotional journey I so enjoyed – a book that everyone who believes in love really must add to their reading list, as I absolutely guarantee they’ll love it every bit as much as I did.

In the shadow of an abandoned castle, you’ll find Ever After Street – on the edge of Full Moon forest with its sparkling lights and mushrooms and fairy doors, it’s a collection of the loveliest fairy tale themed shops like Rapunzel’s hair salon, the Mermaid’s Treasure Trove, the Once Upon A Dream bedding shop, the Frozen ice cream parlour, the Tale As Old As Time bookshop, along with the Colours of the Wind museum and the 1001 Nights restaurant. Sadie is a seamstress, working at The Cinderella Shop that once belonged to her mother who wanted only to create dresses that made the people who wore them happy – when she died, Sadie’s aunt took over the business, with the promise that she’d hand it over to Sadie when she felt she was ready. But that day still hasn’t come, and in the intervening years she’s taken things in a rather different direction – her promise of a refund if you don’t find love while wearing one of their dresses has almost bankrupted the business, the back room is full of returned dresses, and she continues to pursue the celebrity endorsements that she’s convinced will save them while trying to sell increasingly eccentric designs well outside the price range of their customers.

The castle is now up for sale, with the rumour that it’s about to be sold to a supermarket chain – and that’s a threat to every business on the street. Although the farewell masked ball is being boycotted by the community, Sadie desperately wants to see inside the castle, and there she meets her handsome prince – the socially awkward Witt, there to dispose of the castle’s contents – only to have to flee for home at midnight so her aunt isn’t aware of her absence. And, while running away, she leaves a shoe behind – picked up by Witt, who arrives at the shop the next day looking for help to find the woman who won his heart.

Yes, it’s the Cinderella story – but so cleverly given a modern twist, and with a romance at its centre that’s absolute perfection. The developing relationship between Witt and Sadie – both of them a little damaged – frequently made me smile, made my heart ache, and brought many a tear to my eye. As they help and support each other, growing ever closer, I really took them both to my heart, adored every moment of their story, and so wanted them to have their happy ending – but, as you’d expect, there are plenty of barriers and upsets along the way.

The whole book has an exceptional warmth – at times, it really felt like the cuddle we all rather need when things aren’t going quite the way we want them to. And as for the ending… my goodness, I didn’t want to leave Ever After Street behind, but it was just so totally perfect. An absolutely delightful read, and without question one of my books of the year – go on, give it a try, I really think you might just love it too…

This was a really lovely book and the start to what I already know is going to be a fab series as the location is just amazing. Ever After Street is basically Disney in real life, the Cinderella dress up is the focus of this one which is perfect for the mystery ball up at the castle that overlooks the street.

Of course I’ve mentioned a castle, a ball and a Cinderella dress shop so you must know what’s coming next… a handsome prince! And the prince in this book is pretty special, he’s just so honest and down to earth and I loved seeing how well him and Sadie got on together throughout the book. You know when two people are just perfect for each other… well that’s Sadie and Witt - even if they don’t realise it as such!

I really liked Scarlett’s supportive attitude towards Sadie, she’s basically the cheerleader behind the scenes and you just know she’s got her back - which is needed a few times!

Aunt ebony on the other hand… well, she really didn’t make me smile, in fact you just want her to stop getting in the way and actually believe in Sadie a little bit. She was definitely not my favourite character in this as you just felt sorry for Sadie being knocked down all of the time.

Despite Ebony this was a lovely book and the good definitely outweighed the bad, it really does feel like you’ve been whisked away to a fairytale village with this and I can just imagine how amazing it must feel to visit - let alone live and work there.

I can’t wait to read the next instalment of ever after street now!

✨ My Thoughts✨

Sadie is seamstress working in shop called The Cinderella Shop on Ever After Street which is filled with fairy tale themed shops.

When Sadie gets a gold edged invite to a fairy tale themed masquerade ball at the local castle that’s about to be closed forever and possibly turned into a supermarket ( if the rumours are true) she’s so disappointed because her overbearing Aunt Ebony forbids her to go, the castle holds so many memories from her childhood and her mum and dad.

When her Aunt is away for the night Sadie takes her chance and has a makeover by her cousin Scarlett and goes to the ball and finds her real life Prince Charming, or so she thinks ?.

What follows is a magical and uplifting real life Cinderella style story that has its ups and downs but comes full circle in the end to make so many dreams come true.

I loved the Disney themes, because I’m a huge Disney fan myself and I love everything about it so it was the perfect book for me.

I suffer from a stammer myself and I loved having that representation in this book because mainly I see it represented in books as something to laugh at and joke about so I appreciate it so much, thank you.

I honestly can’t wait for the next book in the series.

Oh a modern day Cinderella and I'm here for it. It was a beautiful read, the suspense between Witt and Sadie is electric with a perfect will they won't they element.

Jaimie is a brilliant author who I love to read and this one didn't disappoint. It needed a snowy day and it would have been a wonderful Christmas read.

The characters are relatable and well developed. Ebony got on my nerves bit Sadie handled her so well.

I'm looking forward to another book by Jaimie.

A Midnight Kiss On Ever After Street - Jaimie Admans.
I can’t tell you just how excited I’ve been to finally read Jaimie Admans’ new book. I’m a massive fan of her work and #AMidnightKissOnEverAfterStreet is another gem in her collection.

Before you start reading this book, park reality for a moment.
You are not going to identify with the characters or their situations… this is a story of pure and wonderful fantasy.

Sadie is our modern day Cinderella. She makes dresses, while her evil aunt lives the high life off the back of Sadie’s hard work.
There’s a Disneyesque setting, a castle that is being sold, and there is the potential of a supermarket being built on it’s site. There is a masked ball to go to and a mystery man who sweeps Sadie off her feet… until the midnight bells toll and Sadie has run.

What ensues is just the most charming and whimsical tale.

I was swept along with the sheer gorgeousness of this story.

The setting is magical. Ever After Street, the businesses on it and the surrounding area are just the perfect fantasy place to live.

The characters are mostly very likeable. I loved Scarlett, Sadie’s cousin. She almost deserves a book of her own (hint hint!).
Sadie’s aunt, Ebony isn’t the most likeable of people, but maybe she still has a little love left in her heart.

The hero of the piece is Witt. A tall, awkward man with a stutter, but oh my goodness, how could anyone fail to fall in love with his sweet charm.

#AMidnightKissOnEverAfterStreet is a refreshingly unique read. Jaimie Admans is a gifted writer. She fills the pages with love, warmth and humour.
The story meanders along at a good pace and has plenty going on to keep the reader turning the pages. And lots of ‘gasp’ moments too.

I can’t recommend this wonderful book enough. Shut the world outside, pop on your glass slippers and let A Midnight Kiss On Ever After Street, cast it’s spell upon you.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

With thanks to Rachel’s Random Reads, Netgalley and Boldwood Books for a digital arc of this title.

You cannot convince me that this book was not written for me.

Cinderella retelling? ✅
Tons of Disney reference? ✅
Fairytale aesthetics and whimsical storytelling? ✅

This book features Sadie, our modern day Cinderella. She works as a seamstress in The Cinderella Shop, a boutique located in Ever After Street. The shop once belonged to her parents, but has been taken over by her Aunt Ebony after their untimely passing. Sadie begins the book by attending the ball that is held at the castle overlooking Ever After Street and meeting a mysterious, masked stranger. When the clock strikes midnight she races home and the next day who shows up on her shops step but Witt, her very own Prince Charming. He hoped the seamstress of the gown would be able to identify his mystery woman and doesn’t know it’s actually her!

This book was honestly the height of sweet and cozy. It was a relatively quick read and was legitimately a delight from beginning to end. The writing is cute, the plot is an interesting twist on Cinderella and the relationship that forms between Sadie and Witt is very believable. This is a sweet romance so the most we get is a kiss but that’s a-ok! This book was perfect just as it is!

Sadie as a character was so interesting to read. Watching her grow from overworked seamstress to taking a stand for herself against Ebony was one of the most satisfying things I’ve read in the past month or so. She doesn’t grow a spine overnight, but the slow injection of confidence was sorely needed and I loved watching it happen.

I absolutely loved this book! If you are a fairytale fan, Disney lover of just love to read books about there being magic in the world then I cannot recommend this enough!

Thanks very much to netgalley and Boldwood Books for providing me with an eARC in exchange for my honest

OK, now my heart rate is slowing down, I can give you all my review of Jaimie Admans Jaimie Admans Books new book due out very soon...
After careful consideration I had to give this book 5 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
The reason it was after careful consideration is because I was tempted to write to Goodreads, Amazon, Netgalley and all other book review sites and ask them to increase the limit to 100 ⭐️! But then that still wouldn't be enough for this book!!

Once upon a time, I hunted Netgalley day and night for the newest release from my absolute favourite author and then one day, like magic, It appeared!

I got comfy and settled down to read the book I have been waiting for.
From the first page, it had me enthralled, looking for the magic and falling in love with the whole concept of an adult version of a fairytale!
Everyone loves a happy ending and I was so engaged and hopeful that Sadie and Witt could find theirs.
I loved the references to my favourite Disney film Beauty and the Beast, the book is full of little references to lots of Disney films that either you watched as a child or maybe watched with your own children.

The characters had me hook, line and sinker, it completely and utterly pulled me in, held on to me and has not let me go yet.
I am already searching for the next release of the next book and I hope it is about another shop on the street, or the castle and the future of it.

Thank you Jaimie for doing what seems impossible and writing even better books that the amazing ones you write already and finally, thank you so much for mentioning Book Swap Central in the acknowledgements. We are honoured.
Lots of love ❤️

2.5 stars. Whomp. This book had great bones but it missed the mark in a lot of ways and I was often frustrated and underwhelmed. The story required the reader to suspend way more than the usual amount of disbelief than one typically needs to in Romancelandia and I was not there for it.

*Ebony was horrible. I know the story needed an evil stepmom figure, and heaven knows she filled that role with gusto, but I simply couldn’t endure her. She was extraordinarily cruel, self-involved, and bitter. Worse, I lost so much respect for Sadie for allowing Ebony to walk all over her. Had Sadie been a fresh-faced, inexperienced 22yo then okay, sure. But as an otherwise intelligent and capable 35yo who had been putting up with Ebony for 20y, it was beyond galling and beggared belief. It definitely diminished my ability to enjoy or see authenticity in the story.
*The third-act drama was not well done. It was overly manufactured and eye-roll-inducing. The author definitely did not keep it real.
*The degree to which the MCs were clueless and oblivious to how much the other liked them was painful. Again, why couldn’t the author breathe a little more believability into their perceptions of each other?
*The cynical H who has sworn off love. Yes, he had a tragic past but to go from that to “Love is not real, it doesn’t exist, everyone only wants something from you” was baloney.

I will say the author wrapped things up nicely if, once again, not believably, and bc of those aforementioned good bones, as well as a lovely setting, I’m rounding up to 3 stars.

I love Jamie Admans books, and I have read a lot of them. Her books are all fantastic, and this one was also fantastic. I loved it so much.

The story is about a woman called Sadie who works in the Cinderella Shop on Ever After Street. Ever After Street has a lot of magical shops which cater to the local community. It is an amazing place. However, a big company is out to buy the castle there, and Sadie and her friends are devastated about it. She goes to a masquerade ball at the castle, and she finds there more than she had bargained for. Surprises await her, and she is soon close with a man called Witt. With the theme of Cinderella taking over, we are taken on a little magical journey, which is heartwarming. This is a great book, which I highly recommend!

Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book.

Everything about this book was something special...you've all seen Me before You where there's a whole community living and working around the castle, this was just like that, but so much more magical.

A Midnight Kiss On Ever Street is the modern day remake of Cinderella you didn't know you needed till now. I adored every minute of reading it and didn't want it to end, ever!

The characters are gorgeous, the story is beautiful and packed full of Disney references. The surroundings of Ever After Street and the castle sound idyllic and I want to move there right now!

An engaging story that will capture your heart and not want to let it go 💖

I have read and loved several of Jaimie's books already, but this book was something else. This was even more of a Disney like story than the others and I absolutely loved every minute of it, which is not really a huge surprise as I really love Disney.

This story is told by Sadie in first person and I loved her right from the start. Her prince charming Witt is a little awkward, but once we get to know him he is so easy to love! In a way this was a very predictable story, as is also the case with most Disney stories, but the journey was so enchanting. I would love to visit Ever After Street and all the cute and picture perfect shops. It sounds like a place where you can remember a carefree childhood, like a real life Disneyland with less crowds, so even better.

I think this is the most times I have used the word love in a review ever, but there simply wasn't another word that would cover the feeling this story evoked.

This book has all the ingredients for a great, romantic read. Castle, downtrodden heroine, mean mother figure and handsome stranger but doesn’t quite hit the spot for me. The book is enjoyable none the less but a tad to many fairy stories competing for room.

Thank you Netgalley

REVIEW

A Midnight Kiss on Ever After Street is Jaimie Admans‘s latest book launched this week. After publishing ten amazing books with HQ Digitals, Jaimie has moved to a new publisher, Boldwood Books. This combo has kick-started their journey together with A Midnight Kiss on Ever After Street and after reading the book we are pretty sure this combo is going to be phenomenal.

A Midnight Kiss on Ever After Street is a re-imagination of all our favourite fairytales as kids, The Cinderella. Obviously with a tinge of a modern twist, Jaimie’s spectacular storytelling skills and read-worthy characters. This book is the story of Sadie, who is a seamstress in a fairytale-like town, which is located near a gigantic castle. The Ever-after-street came into existence because of the castle, all the shops in the ever-after-street is a Disney Fairytales inspired shops. Even these shops are named after fairytales. For example, The Cinderella Shop; Rupanzel’s Salon; 1001 Nights Restaurant; Sleeping Beauty’s once upon a dream shop; Tale as old as time bookshop; The colours of the Wind Museum; Mermaid’s Treasure Trove; Neverland Sweet Shop; Beast’s Enchanted Rose flower shop.

The castle owner has decided to sell the castle to a supermarket which would be catastrophic to the entire Ever-after-street. Sadie alongside all the shopkeepers is against this decision because of this they unanimously decide not to go to the farewell ball hosted by the castle owner. However, Sadie would like to see the castle for the first and last time before it was demolished. So she decides to go to the ball without her aunt Ebony‘s knowledge and that’s where her Cinderella story begins.

First of all, after growing up we all had a lot of issues with Disney’s Princesses especially how problematic it is when Princesses wait desperately for a Prince to show up in order to solve all the issues they are having with their lives. And these princess doesn’t have much of a career or ambitions for themselves. With this book, Jaimie has taken the liberty to tweak the basic plot line of Cinderella and gave a lot more character, ambitions, desires and goals to our Sadie aka the representation of Cinderella in our book. This slight change in the plot line made all the differences. Jaimie has also given a solid reason why Prince Charming aka Witt doesn’t recognise his Cinderella.

“Someone who loved you would love that part of you. They’d love everything about you, every little part that makes you you.”

The characterisation of both Sadie and Witt was genuine. The flaws, crappy decision-making skills, ambitions, and introverted characteristics made these characters relatable and loveable. Though at times, you might wanna strangle Sadie for her decisions and her inability to fight her aunt to make things her way in the Cinderella shop, but if you take a moment, you would’ve done the same thing, if you were in her shoes. These teeny-weeny character traits of the lead characters made the book all the more interesting and magnificent.

One other character who will haul your attention would be Scarlett, Sadie’s cousin. Her impulsive, extroverted and jovial characteristics make her loveable. Scarlett is the kind of cousin everyone deserves to have in their life. The way she supports Sadie through thick and thin, at times defying her mother, Ebony showed how loyal she was to Sadie.

On the whole, it is one nice book you can read to escape the harshness of reality and dwell in the spectacular world created by Jaimie 🙂

MY VIEWS

I love Jaimie, I have been waiting for this book to be launched for a very long time. Maybe right from the moment, Jaimie started her initial discussion with her new publisher. I’m so glad that I was able to read the ARC of the book. You could say I was literally praying for the Publisher to send the ARC to me without fail. That’s how much I was waiting for this book. And did this book actually meet my expectation? Yes! It did!

This book is a quintessential Jaimie Admans‘ book. It will instantly kidnap you from reality and show you good times with its amazing plot line, characters, scenes, sentences, and words. I was living in this wonderful Ever-After-Street near the castle for solid three to four days and it was mind-blowing.

A few things I totally adored about this book was the way in which Sadie made her dresses. All of her dresses have been explained so meticulously that you would go ahead and add these dresses to your cart without a second thought. One of the best things about Jaimie is the authenticity she exhibits through her character and especially through their career. I’m generally obsessed with fictional characters’ careers because that’s how I get to know about certain industries and roles through a microscopic vision. How Sadie passionately talks about her designs and behind the screen how she stitches them and all has been written down beautifully. Even in the case of Witt, as a real estate agent, how much knowledge he has with respect to buildings, especially old buildings were nothing short of excellent.

“I want to make normal people feel special when they put my dresses on.”

The next thing I liked about the book is the castle itself. The library, very similar to Beast’s library, with hidden rooms, tunnels, gardens and towers. Every second spent inside the castle was absolutely exciting. Once you read this book you will feel like you have actually been inside a castle which has so many stories to share. The regular Disney Fairytale references in the book made it extremely wonderful and it ignited a feeling of nostalgia which would make anybody get existed in a fraction of seconds.

I personally liked Witt very much, I liked everything about him and especially the way his character has been designed. I don’t wanna give away a lot because that will spoil all the fun of you guys. The only thing I can say is, I liked the way he reacts to situations. I was also able to relate to Sadie a lot because of her inability to stand up for herself against her family and voice out what she needs. These things made her real to me.

I loved the book so much. My rating for this book would be 4 out of 5 stars

⭐⭐⭐⭐
Rating: 4 out of 5.
I would suggest this book to all romance and rom-com lovers. Even young readers can read this book as it has a lot of fairytale moments and young readers would definitely enjoy it very much.

“Sometimes the right people say things in the right way for you to hear it with your heart rather than your ears”

You can go ahead and read the book!

Before this, I'd only ever read one other book by Jaimie Admans, which was The Post Box At The Northpole, which I'd enjoyed. However, I didn't enjoy A Midnight Kiss on Ever After Street. I found it slow and repetitive, and the characters didn't grab me enough to make me care about their story. I kept finding reasons not to read it, and when that happens, I know that book isn't for me and not my thing. I'll still read some of Jaimie's other books. Hopefully, I'll enjoy them more than I did this one.
