The Alien's Match

Rate this book
This dragon says he will make me shine brighter than his treasure, and he succeeds every time he touches me.

Threatened by a dwindling population, the dragons create a matching program where their fittest warriors seduce and conquer humans, providing comforts and pleasures fit for a queen.

It has been decades since they attacked Earth and destroyed our cities, but I haven’t forgotten. After years of resentment and fighting to survive, I have no interest in their matching program. But when my rebellious sister enlists, I go on a wild chase that lands me in the brawny arms of an unyielding dragon who sets me on fire without breathing a single flame.

I’m stuck on an alien planet with this relentless man. He has so much wealth, status, and muscle that little can be denied, but the greedy dragon wants more: me. I resist his advances, but with every touch and whisper, every time he flies me into the sky to do wicked things no one else can see, I fall deeper into his lure.

Fiery romance

One of the best books written by my favorite author. This will surely fill you with excitement and wish you were at the receiving end of the hunky alien’s desire and love. Make sure that you are ready for the smut scenes that will make you hot & bothered. 😉

Alien Romance, Dragons, Overprotective MMC, Dirty-Sweet Love notes

Elaine Waters is one of my favorite authors, her books were the one that got me into Alien Romance, and I'm so happy that I read them.

I was so excited when I got to know that she is traditionally publishing this book of hers. I was very excited to read this book and it didn't disappoint.

I love Myra and Crux relationship, I liked that their relationship was neither too slow, or too fast.

Crux and his pickup lines, I love them. He is sweet, adorable and so swoony, especially his love notes, he knows what exactally he is doing. I love the fact that Crux was always there for Myra, in her ups and in her downs. He always took care of her, through her struggles. He is also overprotective and dramatic, which I really like to see in him.

I like that fact that dragons don't believe in inheritance, they need to work hard for their land, their treasure. There was character development in both Myra and Crux, they both had their individual struggles.

The book had humor also, and it had me laughing. It was so fun to see the interactions between the humans and the dragons. And how dragons interpretated what humans said. The most funny were the scenes in the classroom, which I loved.

I hope we can see Jasmine and Aldrek in future books. I hope they have a book of their own. And I can't wait to read future books by Elaine, The Captain will be publishing in Summer 2023.

Did Not Finish - 41% - Terrible

A post-apocalyptic lusty sci-fi romance where the heroine enters a bride program somewhat accidentally to be matched to an alien dragon shifter. The heroine, 25-year-old Myra, works in a destroyed world doing whatever job she can to get her & her sister by. The hero, Crux, is an older mature dragon shifter.

This was just plain bad. The characters lacked even a modicum of consistency with deeply held beliefs changing on a dime. The lust levels were over the top unrealistic. The world building was illogical, at times over the top, and once again seemed to change at different places. For example the author would spend a chapter describing how bad the males are at flirting only for the hero to excel at it on the next page. I'm sorry to say that I didn't find anything I enjoyed in this book, and I felt it would waste my time to read to the end.

Good story

I've always been a fan of Elaine's work and always will be but maybe I put too much expectation in her first published work because I felt as though this book could've gone to so many different places and made the book so much better plotwise.
The romance was definitely unexpected within the first few chapters and I think there could've been a lot more chapters where they just got to solidify getting to know each other etc., It just felt a bit too quick for my taste.
Overall, if you are aware of her previous book Drakkon, which explains the human world before the transportation to Le'vris, you will enjoy this book as it is a nice continuation to the story.

I’ve always been a fan of Elaine’s and I’ve been so excited for The Alien’s Match to come out on kindle! I really enjoyed Crux and his determination and persistence. I think things could have been more drawn out, but I think selfishly it’s because I didn’t want the story to end. I hope we see more of Jasmin’s life and maybe Winter show up somehow. This could be a series to compete with The Clecanian series.

3.5 ⭐️ This felt like super old school romance smut and I was there for it. Not the best writing, not the most thought out characters, not an original plot. But did I read it in basically one sitting? Yes, yes I did. First person writing even gets under my skin a little and I still enjoyed this. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I wish the characters had more depth. I just skimmed the last 13 chapters because I legitimately didn't care about the characters. I didn't care about the relationship between Myra and her sister or any other character because it wasn't shown to us. It would've been great to see Myra struggle first so I can feel her gratitude for not doing that anymore. The whole part of her wanting to continue the program came out of the blue and I didn't feel proud of her accomplishing it because I didn't see her struggle to make it work. Everything was just skipped.
If you want a story for the smut scenes then this could be it but if you want one with smut and character depth and improvement then you'll be disappointed.

First and foremost, it's a good read. I've read quite a few of Elaine Waters' books that are on Inkitt and Lutionary but they're starting to feel familiar. This is just my personal opinion and others will disagree, but I feel like the female lead here and in other books are very similar.
I'm all for becoming a productive and contributing member of a new alien society, but I think it's getting a bit old.
I'm sure if I haven't read her other works I'd think differently.

I loved reading Elaine’s stuff in 2020, was positively obsessed, but idk what’s happened in this book but I really didn’t enjoy it, like it was so hard to get through. The writing also just wasn’t great, not sure if I am just in denial about what I was reading back then

I read this book after booktok recommended it. I had a great time! Is it the book of the century? Absolutely not. Did I spend the whole reading laughing and kicking my feet? Absolutely!

The story follows Myra, our FMC who lives in poverty on earth in a post-apocalyptic world. She finds herself in a matchmaking program with aliens/dragons shifters. The dragons need women to repopulate their planet and promise human women handsome, rich, powerful...lusty men who are absolutely obsessed with their future partners. And who turn into dragons on occasion.

So Myra finds herself in a school to learn about the ways of dragons, and the dragons are in the same school to learn about humans, which makes for some hilarious scenes (the best moments in the book, in my opinion).

If you take this book seriously, you will be desappointed, but if you're looking for a fun, easy, smutty book, you'll love it.

The book isn't completely devoid of plot, which is nice, but it doesn't get carried away either. The smut is smutting, the jokes are funny, and overall I had a great time.

Do you love dragons? Do you love romantic comedy? What about so innocent they are stupid MMC? Like a little spice to go with your plot? If you said yes to any of those, you'll want to read this story.

Explore this post Dragon razed world through the eyes of Myra and Crux. Myra joins a dragon match program in hopes of finding her sister. But guess what? Her sister isn't part of the program and Myra ends up with a match and stuck for six months on Le'vris. Imagine feeling like you've turned your back on Earth by matching to one of the very kind that destroyed Earth. Who cares that these dragons didn't do it and that they are actually trying to help fix the mistakes from those that did, at no fault of their own? Cuero does and she spends her days educating these dragons on the ways of human females and vice versa.

This story takes you on a roller coaster of emotions. I laughed so much at these dragons. Here are a few quotes from the story to help you understand why Cuero is pulling her hair out by the end of the alpha phase of students.

"Tell me how many jewels she would require to grant me passage inside her." -Wrenton

"By the way, if your match solicits you for prostitution, ignore them. They're a little confused.: -Cuero

"For your underarms. Although if you have curls between your legs, I request that you don't remove them. I want to paint those black curls white." -Crux

"I am your match and dick-giver," (dictator was wrongly translated) -Crux

"I told my female I was going to spar, and she told me to break a leg. Why does she wish me pain?" -Reth

"Roses are red. Violets are blue. Bry I want to shove my face between your legs and lick you until I risk death by suffocation." -Reth

"My match told me her occupation on Earth was to 'babysit' and looked upset when I laughed. She left before I could ask why humans think it's important to teach children how to sit instead of walk." -Errol

"Haley frowned at a comment I said. I continuously asked what was wrong, and she kept saying she was 'fine,' with irradiation. Explain if 'fine' means something else." -Rodrex

How can you not fall in love with Crux or any of these dragons? Well, except for Ekon of course. These dragons will be beasts on the streets and blow your back out in the sheets. Expect there to be misunderstandings, a budding romance, lots of laughing, some sadness and a lot of love. The character development of Myra and Crux was wonderful to witness. I couldn't get enough. By the time the book ended I was bummed there wasn't more of these big, dumb, loveable dragons to go around.

I also enjoyed how the spice was placed appropriately and well done. It had a developing plot and wasn't overrun with spice. "The gods painted you with beautiful colors. You shine like a diamond, but if you let me between your thighs, I will make you so wet you will glisten like never before." -Crux

Well done Waters! This is a win! I cannot wait to see if we get more from these dragons on Le'vris.

4.5 stars - So silly. So dumb. So smutty. So fun.

Someone get the prescription pad because this is exactly what the doctor ordered.

I’ve taken to reading standalone sci-fi romances in between other genre reads because they work perfectly as palette cleansers. This is the best palette cleanser I’ve found recently.

Elaine Waters’ dragon aliens are enormous shifters with the kind of out-of-this-world package size only an extraterrestrial can justify. Of course, their life’s purpose is to please their mates, so much so that they can’t even come unless their partner has come first. Hence why one of the human women describes them as "putting human men out of business" LMAO

So yeah, completely shameless and smutty fantasy. Love it.

I do have to take half a star off the rating (probably should be taking more) for the inclusion of not one but THREE female pick-me character archetypes. Why do authors feel the need to do this? Seriously, do you really think we won't root for your female lead unless all the other women are jealous bitches who want their men? When have you ever met a woman like this in real life? This misogynistic bullshit makes me want to tear my hair out. Stop it!

From the other reviews I'm gathering that this is not a debut from this author, though it would seem so since I can't find any other releases from her. That's why I was surprised to find that aside from the really ridiculous setup, the writing is smart and funny as hell.

The female lead, Myra, is sensible and, despite her off-the-charts sex drive, makes reasonable decisions in the face of pretty extreme circumstances. I liked her a lot.

The male lead, Crux, is an overbearing alpha without being disrespectful. This is how you do “alpha male” characters the RIGHT way! It’s about strong presence and confidence. It’s decidedly not about steamrolling others and stomping all over their free will. Crux is insistent about protecting and wooing Myra, but whenever she puts her foot down, he backs off and accepts her boundaries. LOVED him.

Again, the dragons' and the human women's antics trying to adjust to each other’s culture and become mates… SO funny.

Favorite quote:
“He spent a long time researching poems in the English language.” She bites her lip. “It goes, ‘Roses are red, violets are blue. Bry, I want to shove my face between your legs and lick you until I risk death by suffocation.’” She laughs nervously. “Doesn’t rhyme, but I appreciate his effort.”

Overall it’s a fine book but with it only being 267 pages everything was way too fast paced for my taste. The main character and the love interest got together really fast in the first few chapters which I understand why they did when the book is so short. I think because of that I really didn’t get attached to the characters at all. At some point they had a fight and I honestly did not care if they would of made up or not.
There was also a lot of time skips which felt like the author had a few ideas but didn’t know how link them together so they would add time skips.
I found there wasn’t a lot of world building, they mentioned briefly how life on earth was and the dragons customs but everything is short and sweet and leaves you wanting more. I would of loved to learn more about the world on earth and on Le’ris.
Overall the book is fine but I would of just loved more

This is a comfort re-read, found this book through patreon where I paid the small fee to read basically every book by the author bc she is just THAT good.

It’s a book about a post apocalyptic world and Aliens with wings, do not expect some throughly thought out ACOTAR plot or even writing style but that’s the fun things about small indie authors… they write how ever tf they want with no limitation. It’s what makes us come back for more.

If I could read this book for the first time again then I would, and I don’t say that statement lightly lmao
If I could find the author for the first time I’d binge read all her books in one night again

AGAIN, do not expect a “perfect” book it’s a low rating for a reason, there are slow parts, weird parts, some “let me act like I didn’t just read this” moments but overall I enjoyed this quick read to make me feel something lol

Fire 🔥 Breathing 🐉... Oh My!

Overall.... Ms. Waters has another hit!

This story we have all the basics. Sexy male that has money meet woman that needs money and care.

It may have your traditional troupes. But, the gem of an author is the difference.

Ms Waters has a way of crafting a yummy and sexy tale that makes it so enjoyable to read at once. You don't have muddle through the first few chapters. She has you at page 1.

Her use of humor disarms you and actually makes you chuckle and laugh out loud literally a few times. Then she has you wanting your own private time quietly.

I totally recommend this book. The 2 main leads are really a great match and their crazy love story is a great read.

I hope she continues this into a series bc there are so many variations that can be had when placing 2 strangers in a mating situation for the continuation of a alien race.

Bravo Ms Waters.

Seriously if you want a great read with a real plot and smoking hot guys that melt our mains heart and panties off. This. Is. The. One! Bonus she's not a pushover!

Without spoiling too much. It's as realistic as fantasy gets! There are dragons, spicy time, character development and drama that keeps it fresh... Elaine takes you into these new worlds and you are right there in the action.

100% enjoyed this read. Have reread a few times as a feel good story. You may want to cry and shout but that's why it's great! 😂

Happy reading lovelys! x

pretty good book, writing is very juvenile but other than that the plot is compelling. dont go into this book expecting super unique story and dialogue. i will say at some points it felt like the author couldve gone way more in depth in many ways.. but alas if you are looking for a fast paced light hearted book, this ones for you

spice level is 3/5 sex scenes aren't plentiful but good enough. not extremely descriptive nor long lasting but still good

overall id probably give this book a 3 out of 5 stars. lots of things i wouldve done differently but still a good book in its own way.

If you enjoy fantasy, dragons, and flaming scenes of very spicy love, then grab this book. Warning: make sure you have a lot of time to read, you will not want to put it down.

From beginning to end, the story and plot carries you through another world. I read books to escape, and this one takes me to whole another place. A slow, but very hot burn to a love for the ages. I enjoyed reading it and will continue to reread it just for the pleasure it brings me.

Disappointed tbh.

It started off good with lots of potential but then became just another alien breeders programme and I've read tons of those..

The story was slow n repetitive, obviously the author has a fixation with oral sex because its constant, and its the same every time and boring.

I'm glad i read The Captain, her next book first which is a 4 star read because if I'd read this first I wouldn't have continued reading anymore from this author.

Had potential but poorly executed.

Please ignore that I’m logging this book lmao. I can’t not log it cuz I read it and I need credit but it just wasn’t it lol. I just saw a funny tiktok about it and needed to see for myself but it simply is plotless with no good characters. Myra is annoying and Crux gives nothing but overbearing. Not a fan.
