Soleil is completely disgusted by how Didier moons after her cousin. Such a waste! And he was one seriously fine male specimen too. If only he were a bit more... alpha. Lord, what was she thinking? An Alpha male would completely take over her life. If he were interested, that is, which Didier wasn’t. Didi can't figure out what put the burr under Soleil's saddle. She was always gives him the cold shoulder, evil looks, and he could’ve sworn she might’ve actually flipped him off a time or two. What was worse, her hostility only made him hard. Finding a way underneath her considerable defenses isn’t easy. Especially once he finds out she believes he holds a torch for her cousin, Jade. It was quite a shock for Soleil to find out Didier not only wanted her, but he wanted her for keeps. Too bad she can’t be kept. What Soleil doesn't know is Didier is just like all the other men in his family. Once he decides he wants something, there is no stopping him.
Shara is- well let's just say touched. Born a Marine brat, Shara is a Navy Veteran with a pathological love for men in uniform, chocolate, and heroes that are maybe a touch psychotic. With over seventy-five books in her backlog, Shara has no intention of slowing down any time soon. She's definitely not safe for work, or the kids, or- you know what? She's just not safe.
I've been looking forward to Didi's story for so long but this just seemed rushed to me. I like that it moved the Chevalier family story along and we got to meet the kids and such. Loved the open bit with Katrina screaming out she wasn't pregnant at the altar. That was hilarious. And I like Soliel but I feel the story was rushed. We needed more interaction between them or something before Didi headed out to the bayou with Baptiste. I love the older generation plotting on the 2 young folks & all but something about this story bugged me. Maybe it was Soliel harping on the alpha male thing. I don't know. I realize the other Chevalier guys fell for their women quick too but there felt like a lot more build up & more plot than just them getting together. And that blast from his past seemed rather contrived. I guess when you remove crazy old Lady Rienne from the equation, it takes all the suspense out of the story. The love scenes are blazing hot, as usual. But it just feels like something is missing.
I must say that I agree with all of the other Amazon reviewers, who were not pleased with this book. After reading all of the Chevalier books and paying a quite high price for them- especially Jade and Rance's story- Forever Jade, all the books were well worth it. I am really glad I just bought the Kindle version of this book-I do not want to have the book on my permanent bookshelf and the characters were not fleshed out- Didier had more flare and was more fleshed out, relevant and interesting in Thierry's Angel my favorite of the series. This book as well as the Solange and Taming Katrina book read as a short story and was way to brief. I was very disappointed usually Shara Azod is one of my favorite authors, but I wanted to know more about Didier and what makes him tick and his side of the family and there was nothing; I did not even feel as if these 2 characters liked each other much less fell in love and I agree the grammatical errors found in all of the later books are very annoying. I am disappointed in this book.
Sadly this book was a poor representation of the Chevalier series. Didier's personality completely changed in this story compared to the previous stories he was featured in. I found him weak, wishy washy and pitiful. Also Soleil or sunshine as Didier called her was extremely annoying and immature. Frankly I was so irritated by the "courtship" I was hoping for an alligator attack or even crazy voodoo magic to herald the end of the torture. And the the author throws in some random character named Becky, I suppose to give the story a twist, but she only served to confuse the heck out of me. I mean there was no back story or any clue who this Becky is, she just pops up then gets the door slammed in her face. The story moved too fast. The were several grammatical errors, the story line was weak and pathetically unorthodox, and the characters were not well thought out. If I had read this book first, I would have never read anything else in this series. Giving this book one star was overly generous.
I have waited for Didier story and I must say that so far, I am disappointed. It feels rushed. He deserves a real stories just like the other Chevalier men. So much potential, so upsetting.
Entertaining! Soleil was a very aggravating person, but it was caused her insecurity issues caused by being abandoned by her parents. She fell for Didier and he her, but they both had unresolved issues that they had to aside to be together. Didier stepped up and became the alpha that Soleil needed him to be!
Really like this author. First book was the best. Thierry set the tone and it was worth the time to read. Each one has a different story that was interrelated.
3.00 stars. After reading and enjoying the collection of stories on the Chevalier twins and their Louisiana cousins, I was looking forward to an equally enjoyable book in 'DIDIER'S SUN'. Wrong. This book was just barely okay. The idea that Soleil Niccoline with PhD in psychology, and Didier DeCapet would develop a loving relationship from a sexual attraction and the pretense of a voodoo spiritual cleansing set up by her grandmother and his uncle which would rid him of his unrequited attraction to Pace and save her from her failed attempts at finding a man emotionally strong enough to win her heart.
This book was a short read but nonetheless it was very sweet.
I love the metro alpha borderline beta that is Didier. Definitely different from his ultra alpha cousins from the Chevalier side of the clan. It is great to see a different perspective of what is defined as an alpha male.
Soleil is also my kind of girl- headstrong, educated and self-sufficient. As a feminist myself I love that she was well put together before seeking love out. For a woman with 2 PhD's she couldn't see the woods for the trees but what can you say, love is blind :)
I'm kind of upset i felt this read could have been a little longer. anyway i like how the author which role as far as alpha female and hero lone wolf persona. I notice when reading the other book most of the hero's had dominate personally.
This is book 6 in the series and at last Didier finds a woman of his own, her name is Soleil. I was not really into all the voodoo elements of this story. I enjoyed the couple and loved how Soleil gave Didier a hard time I thought he deserved it.
