The Wishing Well (A Holly Well Springs Novel) by Vivian Porter, is a warm, cuddly, well written story, with characters the reader can't help but love!
Hannah Jane, a top food writer and her assistant photographer Belle, are ordered by Hannah's boss to go to this small town that celebrates Christmas all year round., including a Wishing Well. The boss wins. The only problem is Hannah hates Christmas! She can't imagine how anyone could stand being around Christmas every day. So she decides to stay in her room for the duration of their time in Hollywell, except....
This book was such a joy to read! It was fun, sad (without being/becoming sappy or maudlin), happy and love through out the story. I really there were more pages to read. It is so much more than a Christmas love story!
There were a couple annoyances for me, but they were very minor. In the beginning of the story, Hannah calls Brodie a "Greek god cowboy" frequently, to the point of nearing over-saturation of the descriptive term. Also, at one point in time, Hannah's talking to Belle but instead calls her Bonnie (who is Brodie & Evan's mom). Then just a sentence or two later, Hannah is talking to herself and calls herself Bonnie as well.
Another issue for me is the spelling of Honeywell. Everywhere in the book, Honeywell is one word, however, in the book title providing the Series Title, it's Honey Well, two words. In the book synopsis, it's also two words. Just a minor irritation as if Ms. Porter couldn't make up her mind on the town name being one of two words. But consistency is a good thing.
I'm already looking forward to reading Evan's story next!
