Enter the world of Holly Well Springs… where the Christmas spirit lives on.

After losing her parents around Christmas, Hannah rejects the holiday fully. She turns her focus from joy and celebration to her future as a writer for a national foodie magazine. Outside of that, her only hobby is her plants.

When her boss sends her on assignment to Holly Well Springs, a small town in Montana where the people celebrate Christmas all year long, she’s not at all excited.

Suddenly forced to face Christmas everywhere she turns, Hannah comes up with a plan. She’ll just keep to herself and finish up the assignment as quickly as possible.

Unfortunately, that’s not how fate works.

The moment she lays eyes on Brodie, a Greek god cowboy who also loves plants more than she does, Hannah finds herself questioning everything she believed about her past.

While she’s busy, the magic of love starts to unravel her wounded heart. And at the center of the miracle? A Wishing Well that opens her eyes to what’s really available to her.

True love.

Christmas is celebrated every day in Holly Well Springs, where food magazine writer is forced to do a story. She hates Christmas, but maybe the magic will change her mind. Especially after meeting the close knit people and community and a chance a love. *I was given a copy and am voluntarily giving my honest review.

Sweet and Magical

New to me and not my usual kind of read but sweet and magical Holly Well Springs drew me in and i couldn't put it down. Hannah and her best friend Belle work as a team for Foodie Nation Magazine traveling for stories and photographs from Paris to Hawaii. New assignment is Holly Well Springs, Montana, where they celebrate Christmas year long. The problem is Hannah is anti Christmas clear down to elf hats...with good reason. Once there Hannah meets Greek God cowboy Brodie and things may not be alk that bad. Brodie and his family embrace everything about their small town and year long Christmas traditions. Brodie and Hannah bond over their love of plants and puts him on a mission to show Hannah the magic of the well and Christmas. With time memories of the past surface that just might change Hannah's outlook on life as she knew it. A beautiful and sweet romance with great characters that are real to life, no cliffhanger, his/her POV with a heart felt HEA. Looking forward to the next story.

The Wishing Well is the first book in the HollyWell Springs series by Vivian Porter. After losing her parents around Christmas as a child, Hannah Grayson rejects the holiday. Her one joy is her green thumb and her career as a writer for a national foodie magazine. When her boss sends her on assignment to HollyWell Springs, a small town in Montana where Christmas is celebrated all year long, Hannah is not excited. With no choice, she decides to finish the assignment with minimal involvement. However, the moment she arrives in town, she locks eyes with Brodie Fisher, who runs the local Christmas tree farm, who seems to love plants more than she does. As she experiences that magic of Christmas and the town’s love for the holiday, Hannah finds the ice around her heart starting to melt and begins to question what she remembers about the past. At the center of it all, a wishing well which seems magical healing for a wounded heart.
I looked forward to this book as the premise sounded interesting. I love Christmas and enjoy the magic and hope of the season. However, a town whose whole identity is Christmas was a bit much for me. Everything about the town was in a Christmas theme, even the names of the businesses. And the magical wishing well was interesting and the story had a mystery around the well that never is fully explained. Hannah as a grinch or scrooge made sense for me and I understood that she didn’t want to talk about why; but she never tells her best friend?!?! The constant description of Brodie as a “Greek God Cowboy” was so repetitive early on that I was over it quickly. Overall, I enjoyed Hannah’s healing from her traumatic past; however, I closed the book with a “what did I read?” I doubt I will be continuing the series. If you would enjoy a story about a town who celebrates Christmas year around with a magical well, you may enjoy The Wishing Well.

I hate to end the year with a 1 star, but I didn't want to start the year with a 1 star (or the DNF it should have been) either, so here we are.

Hot take: You don't get to try to make your issues with a holiday someone else's problem if you also refuse to share WHY you have the issues in first place. It doesn't make you a tortured soul. It just makes you a bitch, Hannah.

I'm not exaggerating when I say that Hannah takes hating christmas to a whole new, bitchy level. Not even the Grinch was this obnoxious in his hatred. Hannah has a decent reason to not exactly feel the holiday spirit, but she's known her best friend for 5 years and hasn't once explained to this woman WHY she tries so hard to dampen her friend's joy. Like wtf?? We have to imagine that this has been going on for the last 5 years too, consistently. I simply cannot be convinced that if they didn't work together, Belle would still be friends with Hannah. There's simply no way she would put up Bitch McGee for 3 months out of the year.

Belle was also just a bad character imo. Too many weird southern stereotypes rolled into one Texan with just a "hint of an accent" (but she speaks almost exclusively in those silly-strange southern phrases. You know, the ones that involve pigs rolling in mud or a porcupine and balloons). The combo didn't make sense and frankly I'm sick of seeing it.

The men were fine. Basically Hot Frosty's, but with actual life and social skills. Though I desperately need this author to learn how to describe a hottie in a way that isn't just calling them a "Greek God". Also need her to stop trying so hard with the plant-based love lessons. It got too cringe even for me.

IN CLOSING HollyWell Springs sounded cute af and deserved better visitors. I would LOVE a 24/7 Christmas town.

This book was corny, predictable, and full of holiday schmaltz. It was a Hallmark Christmas movie in a book form. And I was here for all of it.

Everything I have been reading lately had dark and heavy topics, and I needed a change. This book was perfect and just what I needed. I'm not saying it's a great work of literature, but it was fun and heartwarming. Obviously, you have to suspend your belief a little when you read this, but isn't that how you are when you watch those feel-good Christmas movies, where everything works out in the end?

I liked the whole story, even though I knew from the beginning that Hannah was going to end up loving Christmas and falling for Brodie. I would have been more disappointed if they hadn't.

Holly Well Springs is the kind of town that can only exist in a movie or book. They celebrate Christmas every single day, and all of the businesses in town have a holiday themed name. If you were cynical, you would say that it sounds like a cult, the way all the town people are happy all the time and simply love everything about their town and Christmas. But if it is a cult, sign me up. 😂

Don't come and read this story if you are looking for a realistic portrayal of the holidays and relationships. But if you are looking to escape into a world where people are nice, true love exists, and there really is magic in the holidays, read this book.

There were a couple of editing mistakes that took me out of the story for a minute or two to have to figure out what was going on. I thought I misread something and had to reread I for clarity. But other than that, it is an enjoyable story.

My rating: 4 stars

The Wishing Well (A Holly Well Springs Novel) by Vivian Porter, is a warm, cuddly, well written story, with characters the reader can't help but love!

Hannah Jane, a top food writer and her assistant photographer Belle, are ordered by Hannah's boss to go to this small town that celebrates Christmas all year round., including a Wishing Well. The boss wins. The only problem is Hannah hates Christmas! She can't imagine how anyone could stand being around Christmas every day. So she decides to stay in her room for the duration of their time in Hollywell, except....

This book was such a joy to read! It was fun, sad (without being/becoming sappy or maudlin), happy and love through out the story. I really there were more pages to read. It is so much more than a Christmas love story!

There were a couple annoyances for me, but they were very minor. In the beginning of the story, Hannah calls Brodie a "Greek god cowboy" frequently, to the point of nearing over-saturation of the descriptive term. Also, at one point in time, Hannah's talking to Belle but instead calls her Bonnie (who is Brodie & Evan's mom). Then just a sentence or two later, Hannah is talking to herself and calls herself Bonnie as well.

Another issue for me is the spelling of Honeywell. Everywhere in the book, Honeywell is one word, however, in the book title providing the Series Title, it's Honey Well, two words. In the book synopsis, it's also two words. Just a minor irritation as if Ms. Porter couldn't make up her mind on the town name being one of two words. But consistency is a good thing.

I'm already looking forward to reading Evan's story next!

I received a free copy of the clean novel The Wishing Well: A Holy Wells Spring Novel by Vivian Porter and this review was given freely.
An eerie, informative, and highly descriptive “Out of Sadness Comes Happiness and Hope” story with personable characters set in January in the small friendly little mountain town of Holly Well Springs, Montana during their Russian Christmas celebration. I was captivated not only by the easy flowing slow building, instant attraction romance between Hannah and tree/greenhouse owner Brodie but also by the complexity of the characters, and their entwining relationships that were slowly revealed with the help of Sachee, the keeper of the well and Kris Kringle.

I loved this story! This is the first story in this series, told in dual first person POV, gives you all the feels and I seriously need more! This is the first time I have read anything by this author, and I cannot wait for the next book to come out!!! I will also be checking out the other books she has written in the mean time.

I loved Hannah and Brodie! They are the perfect match! I loved Belle and Evan, along with all the other side characters that helped bring this story together. I loved Sachee and Kris with their sneakiness, beauty and charm. I loved the magic of the wishing well and the joyous spirit of the town.

I loved learning Hannah and Brodie’s history and watching them come together for a second chance! I was rooting for Belle and Evan, but the ending says it all for these two. I just hope that this isn’t the last of Belle and I get to see her story!

I received and advanced readers copy via BookFunnel. These words and opinions are my own and left voluntarily.

Hannah Grayson, writer and Belle Wilson photographer are best friends and partners at Foodie Nation Magazine. They are given a week long assignment to cover a Russian Christmas and investigate a magic wishing well in a small village in Montana. Since Hannah hates anything to do with Christmas she tries to get out of it to no avail.
Evan Fisher is Holly Well Springs Chief of Police, and each day when he is out walking around he tries to greet everyone in town whether tourist or local. Brodie Fisher takes care of the tree farm and all the flowers and plants in the greenhouses.
I ❤️ loved this book. The way Vivian described everything I felt like I was right there in the town with the characters. I started reading and couldn't stop until I finished reading the book in one sitting. I can't wait until the next in the series is out. I hope the book will be about Evan.

This is book one in A Holly Well Springs Novel and it is Hannah and Brodie’s story and what a great start to a new series and author to me. When Hannah’s parents die around Christmas time she never wants to celebrate it again so she concentrates on her job of writing for a national food magazine and in her spare time plants have become her salvation so when her boss wants Hannah to go to Holly Well Springs she isn’t happy as they celebrate Christmas all the time so she comes up with a idea for when she gets there but things don’t always go as planned. This is a beautiful and poignant story about loss, love, moving forward, enjoying life along with a sprinkle of Christmas magic and I really enjoyed reading it as it was so well written and definitely worth reading and I can’t wait to read more books by this author in the future.

This was my first Vivian Porter and I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started this book. What I found was a cute, whimsical Hallmark channel worthy story about a magical, mystical Christmas town. Add in a magic wishing well (and beautiful well guardian), toss in Kris Kringle (the real one) and it’s a G rated HEA.

The female main character is a beautiful redheaded food reporter who’s sure she hates Christmas with a passion and the male main character is one of the town’s golden boys who loves Christmas with his very soul. They’ve got a passion for plants in common, must be love.

Although this is not my typical read, my last several (dozen) have been much steamier/darker, this was an easy read and a cute palate cleanser. I received this as an ARC and am voluntarily reviewing.

‘The Wishing Well’ was magical. The fascinating plot involved a visit to a town where Christmas was on display every day of the year. In the plot, we learned about the backstory, the chance encounters of two characters, a magical character, a person helping with curing ailing plants, engaging positively with the community, making an important decision, and falling in love. Also, Hannah and Brodie, the protagonists, were ideally suited for each other. I kept rooting for them.

Additionally, I appreciated the author’s vivid descriptions that created a touching tone. However, I felt that the dialogue in the book used the word “said” excessively, to the point where it detracted from the telling of the beautiful storyline. Overall, I liked the sweet narrative.

I enjoyed the story until halfway through, certain things started annoy me as well as the authors writing style. The author does not do a very good job giving details on things the readers would enjoy. Such as the food, using the word heavenly so many times and really really good. No description on the ingredients , spices, etc.
And the two main characters work for a food magazine! Also Brodie and Hannah are plant lovers but we can’t even get details on what type of plants?! He has greenhouses of plants but of course no one knows what kind of plants. So this makes me think the author was lazy and did zero research on either topic. Also the wishing well felt like just a prop, there could have been more magic or something to it! I love a cozy Christmas book but this was a miss

This book proves that any time of year can benefit from a splash of Christmas magic. Brodie stole my heart from the moment we met him. Even as an adult, he’s able to bring some of that childlike joy and curiosity into his everyday life. I had a rockier start with Hannah. But, learning the root cause of her Christmas aversion made it all make sense. Besides, I kind of loved watching her fall back in love with the season while Brodie quietly stole her heart too. This family has completely swept me off my feet, and the whole rest of the town is well on it’s way to doing the same. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

You'll love Hannah and Brodi's heartwarming story. She works for a food magazine and is not happy when they send her on assignment to Montana. The town celebrates Christmas year round. She doesn't like Christmas because it reminds her of her parents death at Christmas when she was only six. But her life does a turn around when she meets a gorgeous cowboy named Brodie. They share a love of plants and with the help of a magic wishing well he is able to introduce her to the true magic of Christmas. Beautifully written and emotional. You will love this story. I read a free advance copy via the author and voluntarily chose to review it.

Christmas Magic

Food writer Hannah hates Christmas, with good reason. She lost her parents in a horrible accident the day after Christmas. When her editor sends her to Holly Well Springs, a town that celebrates Christmas all year, she’s livid. But it’s her job so she goes.

Brodie loves Christmas, he kind of has to, since he owns Holly Well Springs’ tree farm. When he first sees Hannah, he’s drawn to her. Then he begins to remember an accident that happened twenty years ago. One he and his father came upon the day after Christmas. When he realizes who she is and that he’s fallen in live with her, he wonders what could happen next.

A town where the spirit of Christmas is alive and well year round? One with a mystical wishing well, rumored to be full of magic? Sounds like a perfect destination. Except that Hannah can’t stand Christmas. And to her, being assigned to cover a story on this quaint little town is nothing short of torture. But as soon as she got there, the ice surrounding her heart began to crack and she was slowly able to embrace the spirit of the town.

I loved Holly Well Springs…it’s history, it’s colorful characters, and especially the pure magic that surrounded this entire story.

I can’t wait for the next book, and our good police chief’s turn for his own happy ending.

Such a great twist on Christmas

Vivian Porter is a new author for me and I bought the rest of this series. This book gives a different twist on the Christmas spirit and Santa. You love the characters and enjoy their story and the spirit that surrounds the true Wishing Well. Sachee is the spirit of the well and she watches over Holly Well and its people with Kris and Christine Kringle. In this book you meet Hannah, who hates Christmas, but it sent to do a story about this town who celebrates Christmas every day. Here she meets Brodie and there is an instant connection. How everything works out is an amazing journey

Holly Well Springs certainly had the elements of charm and enchantment. This story was mystical and magical all mixed in one! The reconnection of Hannah and Brodie's path after 20 years was special and the story line was unexpected, although beautifully written. I felt a warm and fuzzy feeling as Hannah's heart had a chance to glow again and the budding love shared between Hannah and Brodie was truly a magical connection. Hannah and Belle's genuine friendship was touching! I could smell the pine scented jogs Hannah so enjoyed each morning. There was a curious mystique around Sachee, I loved her soft heart and words of wisdom enormously throughout the story.

I found this one in my library from a previous “Stuff Your Kindle” day. I didn’t read any reviews, I just wanted something Christmassy!

Soooo… this was a bit strange!

Everyone in this town is very polite, aggressively nice and painfully helpful. I just assumed at that point that this would be a sickly sweet love story with no depth. But… there’s actually a bit more to it, I just wish it was developed more! The magical element isn’t explained very well and different rules seem to apply depending on what stage of the book you are in! The writing itself is also touch and go at times!

Anyway, it’s quick, it’s different and it’s good for Christmas vibes!!

This was a cute and sweet story, I don’t know if I’d really consider it a romance as nothing really happens relationship wise between the two MCs but I did really like this book. I loved the idea of it being set in a town where they celebrate Christmas all year, I loved the magic elements but I do wish it was more expanded on, and I loved the twist. There were some things that got kind of old though like “Greek God Cowboy” and I did find the story got a bit repetitive in the last half. I would have liked to see more relationship development and an epilogue between Brodie and Hannah, not other characters from the story.

This is a wonderful start to this book set. Holly Well Springs is a place built like a Hallmark movie with the storyline to match. Hannah is a travel reporter for a food magazine and gets to enjoy food and places all around the world. When she gets a job to head to Montana shes less than enthusiastic because it's a town built on Christmas everyday. After losing her parents just after Christmas when she was 6 years old she doesn't look forward to the holiday season. Brodie is a cowboy who runs a tree farm and greenhouses in Holly Well Springs. This is such a clean sweet holiday romance anyone would be sure to love!

3.5 ⭐️

This was a quick, sweet, Christmassy romance. It was definitely heavier on the Christmas vibes than what I usually read, but I actually enjoyed that it focused on the magic of Christmas in a more genuine, small-town way.

I really liked that there were deeper story elements woven in too, especially the historical trauma, which helped me connect more to the characters and their journeys. It gave the story a bit more emotional weight than I was expecting.

There was just something about it that stopped me from absolutely loving it, although I can’t quite put my finger on what. Still, it was an enjoyable, cosy read and perfect for the festive season.

When Hannah lost her parents on Christmas the holiday lost meaning. When she is sent to a town that celebrates the holiday everyday Hannah is not thrilled at all that is until she connects with Brodie a hunk of a cowboy that have her questioning everything. Has fate put Brodie in her path for a reason and will it lead her down the road to happiness and a happily ever after. This story warmed my heart and had me in their corner to get their chance for happiness.

I am volunteering to leave a review for an ARC of this book.

Hannah and Belle work for Foodie Nation as a writer/photographer team and have traveled the world together and are assigned a 7-day assignment in Honey Well Springs, Montana to report on a town where Christmas never sleeps and talk to the people who live there. Hannah hates Christmas but she hasn't ever told anyone why. Belle loves Christmas and is very excited about her week-long stay in Christmasville. Nicely written feel good story for all of us romance readers with special feel-good magic!
