But at least I'm no longer alone. My beautiful half-elf companion insists that I will save her people and end the Blood Drought crippling the Empire. She believes our union is inevitable, a prophecy revealed to her in the flames.
I don't place much faith in destiny, but I've never met anyone else like her. She's the first dragon with human blood and last scion of a once proud house. With time and training, we could become unstoppable.
Assuming we survive. Our enemies are legion and our allies are few. Together, we must find a way to rescue my other wives.
And then recover my stolen throne.
Promise in Flame is the second book in The Dragon Sovereign series, Sarah Hawke's fantasy harem epic.
Sarah Hawke is a prolific writer of science fiction and fantasy in multiple genres, including erotica, harem, and bondage. Her books are known for their intricate world-building, twisting plots, and fleshed-out characters—and of course their many intense, steamy sex scenes.
If you are interested in "pure" traditional harem stories, The Lost Fleet is the perfect place to start! Wings of the Seraph is a shorter, older series but also hits most of the traditional harem notes. Shadow of the Seraph features a rotating male and female pov with some F-F scenes involving temporary futanari, so avoid that unless it is your jam!
Her fantasy universe features many types of erotica stories involving bondage (Elf Slave, all the Spider Queen books) and non-traditional harems (The Amazon's Pledge, The Amazon's Vengeance). She also has two ongoing fantasy erotica series with intense action and multiple points of view, War of the White Throne and The Blade of Highwind.
Meh, this author is usually a pretty good storyteller, but this story got carried away with the sexcapades; there are only so many times I want to read about how often and where the MC "spilled" on the women. "And as for the girls... well, they had admittedly imbibed a fair amount... but none of it wine." Ugh, unbearably juvenile. The only thing missing is a fart joke.
This is the second book in the series. It picks up directly from the first book. The story progresses nicely and keeps the reader engaged. There are a number of twists and turns that keep you engaged. Can’t wait for book three.
With the return to a linear narrative, our mc is left picking up the pieces of his life. This volume focuses on his efforts to regather his ladies and deal with the consequences of his 5 year absence. I liked it mostly, despite its straightforwardness.
Sarah Hawke always write great stories and this one isn’t an exception, we follow the characters introduced in book 1 through a vivid world of magic, epic battles and sinister plots, I’m eagerly awaiting book 3
