Rainbow Brite Saves Spring
PLOT: Did you ever wonder how the world gets its brilliant colors? We all have Rainbow Brite and her magic Star Sprinkles to thank for that. Rainbow Brite lives in Rainbow Land where colors are born. But of course filling the world with color is a big job so Rainbow has a little help from her friends. There are the Color Kids (Red Butler, Indigo, Canary Yellow, Patti O Green, Buddy Blue, Shy Violet, and La La Orange. And also the sprites (who are kinda like the equivalent of the seven dwarfs but furry) as they dig in the minds all day for color crystals to make the Star Sprinkles. But not all Rainbow land is colorful in the darkest part called The Pits live Murky and Lurky whose mission it is to make everything gray and miserable. In fact, as we read this they're working on a potion to eliminate even more color. As the color kid hurriedly prepares for the first day of spring Rainbow and Starlite supervise with approval at all the Sprites hard work. But what's that rackety sound approaching? Could it be the Grunge Buggy? Why yes it is. And some of the Sprites get a face full of potion as well as gray cloud appearing over their heads altering their moods from sunny to gloomy. Rainbow's commands to the sprites go unheeded so she takes to the sky to put a stop to the villain's treacherous plans and throws some Star Sprinkles in their path. Some Lurky and he goes all giddy. And then Murky. They drive off and the day is once again won by Rainbow.

MY THOUGHTS: I confess a lot of times I feel like Murky Dismal. Especially this year. Symbolically I've wanted to take the color out of everything because the color got drained out of my life because of one thing after the other. And unfortunately, I don't have a mind full of Sprites digging all day for color crystal to create Star Sprinkles for me to return the color to my days. There is a perfect song I've played on repeat called Paint It Black that should be Murky and Lurky's theme song. Books from my childhood like this one made everything so simple. A few sprinkles and the grayness just evaporates. It never even said how the Sprites came out of their funk. It just instantly happens when the villains leave.

RATING: 5 Where can I get some Star Sprinkles? I seriously need them like yesterday.
