I feel the same way about this book now as I did as a kid. The adventure was boring. Not really anything suspenseful or exciting happened. It’s cool that rose could surf but really all she did the entire book was deal with annoying little boys and I don’t think the adventure really helped tie in the resolution of the book very well. Nothing really happened that helped reveal the solution.
This is an exceptionally weak installment with poor pacing, no clear resolution, and an irritating storyline where Rose constantly deals with other people's misbehavior and never gets a chance to do anything truly exciting. I'm glad that I was able to reread this from Open Library and didn't buy a used copy.
Island Rose (Magic Attic Club) by Laura E. Williams – I read this whole series as a kid, and it’s great for a magic loving middle grader! Happy Reading!
