Special Agent Travis Brown has set his life up so he can have access to information that will lead him to the one woman he believes can tell him who killed his sister. But he’s not prepared for the drive and determination of his new partner; Special Agent Shauna Morgan. Her instincts are sharp and her beauty undeniable. His attraction to her is as strong as his need to find his sister’s killer. But Shauna has a secret. A secret that will ultimately put his heart on the line, along with her life.

Jane Doe’s Return is a completed contemporary romantic suspense set between the city streets of Albany, New York and the scenic beauty of Lake George where I lived for many years. Very strange story. Jumped around a lot and some of the dialogue didn't make sense, like the reader was missing some insight into what the character was thinking when they said it or maybe some actual lines were missing, I don't really know. Overall, I won't be reading anything else by this author.

I obtained this free e-book from Amazon and I am voluntarily writing a review. Shauna when she was sixteen is the only survivor of a serial rapist now years later she still cannot remember anything about him but the sound of his voice. She is now an FBI Agent working in the Violent Crimes Unit back in her Home town where it all began. It is crucial that no one knows she is Jane Doe so she can work this case to bring this killer to justice. Travis has spent his entire FBI career looking for the killer of his sister. He is convinced that the man convicted and in prison is not her killer but no one will listen. He has just learned he is getting a female newbie partner to train and has been warned not to drag her into his compulsive search for his sister's killer.

Special Agent Travis Brown is still haunted by the murder of his sister. Travis believes that the man who was sent to prison for the crime is not the man responsible for his sister’s death, so Travis is obsessed with finding the real killer. Travis’s only hope is that one of the victims survived her ordeal at the hands of the killer and then when the FBI arrived on the scene she disappeared, this mysterious Jane Doe could give Travis the answers he is looking for, the key to finding the killer, but first Travis must find her.

Shauna Morgan is a new agent who is partnered with Travis. Shauna knows that the man who was found guilty of killing Travis’s sister is not the man who did the crime. Shauna has joined the FBI to stop living in fear and to use what happened to her in the past for the greater purpose of helping others.

When Travis and Shauna meet there is a mutual physical attraction between them. Travis may be attracted but he has a feeling that Shauna is keeping something from him.

What is Shauna’s secret?

This is a romantic suspense novel, set in Albany, New York, with a superb storyline. You do learn a lot about the two main characters early on in the story which adds to the tension and keeps the reader hooked. With some steamy love scenes and twists in the plot, all in all this book is a good read.

This was a free book on my kindle.

"Imagine knowing the wrong person is convicted of raping and killing your sister. You know the real killer still lurks in the shadows, killing once year, and waiting for the one victim who escaped his wrath to return. Imagine spending the majority of your career searching for Jane Doe, only to find her in the most unlikely place."

This should have been a story that I like to read, but I found it difficult to follow and that it was predictable. After the first few chapters I figured out what was going to happen. Would the two FBI agents get it together or not? Of course they did and there was lots of sex in between the chapters.

Some of the dialogue didn't make sense, it seemed like it was a first draft that still had lots of work left to do.

I don't think I'll rush out to read anything else by this author.

I enjoyed this mystery and recommend it to readers of mystery. I was given a complimentary e-copy by the author. The book was a fast read, but the serial killer's identity was not known until the end of the book. The author's writing mechanics were excellent! The sexual content was too explicit and completely unnecessary. It cost the author a star. The author did not use an excessive number of vulgar words, which is unusual because where there is a sexual content warning, a language content warning usually follows.

Thank you, Ms. Holbrook, for a good read.

Not nearly enough smut for a story categorized under "erotic" fiction but it was way better than some others I've read (i.e. Fifty Shades series). In fact, the plot and storytelling were pretty decent, all things considered; not great but decent.
All in all, it made for a quick & easy distraction for a day.

2.5 stars. I wanted to read this because it's set near my hometown. Unfortunately, this was not the greatest. It may have been because it was a kindle book but there was a desperate need for editing.

Jane does return

I was really looking forward to this book, but found it to be very predictable and sometimes the story was just too unbelievable. Quick read but lacing something...

This book dragged on way to long. It got to the point where I skipped parts so I could get it over.
