Justice. Revenge. The pain, blood, and tears of the woman who sold me into slavery and stole the Alpha Throne that was rightfully mine… For years, these were the only things that kept me sane.
And then I escape the Blood Pit Fight syndicate and track down the woman I’ve lived to destroy only to find she’s been a captive, too, and everything I was told was a lie.
JULIET
I’ve just been saved by the man who sold me into slavery in the first place. Ford swears he didn’t betray me and that the only way to reclaim what we’ve lost is to seek refuge at a top-secret university for rejected shifters.
There, he says, we’ll grow strong, plan our revenge, and prepare to destroy my father.
But is Ford the hero in this story or the villain? And what will he do when he realizes I would rather die a virgin than be his good little wolf?
Alpha Betrayed by Bella Jacobs was a wild, dark, and thrilling romance that I devoured in one sitting. I seriously couldn’t put this book down! This is book one in Bella’s new Lost Moon University series, and brace yourself because it does end on a cliffhanger! Ford and Juliet start off enemies but soon realize they need to rely on and trust each other if they are to both survive the evil treachery of their past. Plus, the flirting and the sexual tension had me turning page after page. However, just when more secrets are revealed about their pasts, the book ends leaving me with so many questions! I’m looking to the next book in this new dark, addictive shifter series!
💭 “You want to be in charge, and I’m done taking orders and being a good little puppet. From now on, I’ll call the shots in my life or die trying.”
Review ➡️ It has been awhile since I last read a shifter romance, but I just needed to read that it’d be a step-sibling dark and forbidden, that my kink self screamed: give me! Honestly, I didn’t know what to expect of this book, but I really enjoyed the ride, it was fast paced, mysterious, full of angst and banter.
For the past few years, Juliet and Ford hated each other with passion, they vowed that if they’ve met yet again, their vengeance would be painful and final. But when both of them managed to be free from their prison, they found out that both of them were tricked by her father/his stepdad, and sold to the most horrific torturous places. Now, they need to find the will to trust each and be united to take down her dad and the leader of their pack.
I loved that Juliet gave Ford hell and didn’t make it easy (still isn’t). He knows that without her, he won’t achieve their goals, to dethrone the leader, make him pay and reclaim their rightful place. Things progressed in a very consistent pace, with them learning and having difficult to trust each other, then slowly flirting with crossing the lines and maybe love each other.
I liked that by the end, they formed a friendship and a feeling of protection toward the other. It’ll be needed, because that cliffhanger was one that I wasn’t expecting, at all. Talk about a twist! Now what I expect indeed is a lot of action, steamy and holler coaster of emotions. I can’t wait for the next book.
Wow, this story started out DARK. I wasn’t sure I would be able to get into it. But once the story progressed, the characters began to shine through. Ford and Juliet are complex and flawed, yet still likable. The action was fast-paced and held my attention. This is only the first part of the story, so it’s more of a tease than anything, but one I look forward to continuing.

My review below (spoilers)
Juliet and Ford are step siblings who have been sold by their father/stepfather and told it was they had each other to blame. Juliet a Phoenix shifter ended up in a circus where she was killed every Friday for entertainment. Ford a wolf shifter was sold to the mafia for him to fight other paranormal prisoners. Before being sold Ford and Juliet grew up in the same pack but weren’t close. Ford would bully Juliet. Both working toward ascending the throne of Alpha of the Zion wolf pack. Ford escapes the mafia and goes looking for Juliet to kill her for having him sold. Ford finds out she was sold as well and decides to save her instead and team up to take her father down. Juliet having turned cold hearted and distrusting refuses to work along side Ford for him to get the title of Alpha over her. When they run into trouble Juliet is saved again by Ford and begins to trust him enough to hear his plan. Ford tried to convince Juliet to join Lost Moon University to hide out gain allies and get stronger to take down her father. While on the run they get caught by Natalie the recruiter for the university. Natalie tried to prepare them for whats to come explain whats been going on since they were sold and keep them safe until they get to the university.
Ford seems sincere in his effort to help Juliet and protect her. While he does want to become Alpha he doesn’t wish to take the title from her offering marriage so both can hold the throne. Juliet is a bit standoffish and very cautious making an alliance between the two seem impossible. No sex scenes but the chemistry is there so is the flirting and dirty talk. I wont be continuing the series, wouldn’t recommend to slow paced.
So, this book was always gonna be a tough sell for me, with a title like "Lost Moon University"; I tend to dislike school settings in romance. And then I opened the book and realized that FMC and MMC were stepsiblings, and I liked it even less. Not my thing. I like shifters, but nobody actually shifts in this book! There's also no growling alphaholes, like 'em or not, MMC treats FMC pretty much like a whole human instead of a thing to be controlled with his you-know-what.
So, the stepsibling thing: it turns out that their parents aren't married anymore, and I guess the fact that MMC is five years older and they "weren't that close" is supposed to make it a bit more palatable, but still... Anyway.
The book misdirects you in the beginning, making you think that the MMC is going to be coming for vengeance against the FMC and there's going to be an enemies-to-lovers situation, but that rage gets redirected pretty much immediately, and he's on to plan B: try to seduce the FMC for... er, the stability of the pack? Doesn't really go anywhere; I assume we'll have to wait until book 3 or 4 for such nonsense, as is tradition (hah). Also, they never make it to the aforementioned university in this book, and the entire plot is just road tripping and giving bounty hunters the slip, and it ends on a cliffhanger (cuz why not).
What's good about this book is the banter and pacing. It's definitely not boring, even if (as I said) the plot kinda doesn't get far. I wishlisted the other books in the series for a rainy day, but I'm not sure if I'll grow to love it once they actually get to the university.
Dark, sexy and intriguing- great start to this shifter quartet.
I loved this beginning of Ford and Juliet’s wolf and phoenix shifter romance with a side of mystery. This book is part of a quartet and ends on a cliffhanger. As long as you are aware of that you’ll enjoy the story. Ford, a wolf shifter, and Juliet, a phoenix shifter, are step siblings which usually has an ick factor for me but with the 5 year age difference and limited cohabitation it was a non-issue. Two years ago they were each forced into captivity which included forced violence being required on a regular basis. They were also both told that the other had taken over their pack leadership and sent them away. Now that they’ve escaped and learned the pack alpha, their father/step-father, was the cause of their captivity, they both want revenge. Moon University for packless shifters seems like the perfect place to hide out and plan. But all is not what it seems and that might not be a viable option. This book has a little bit of everything - sweet moments, sexual tension, action, danger, messy relationships, painful pasts, mystery, evil actors, plot twists, imperfect characters, and even chuckles. The book is well written with witty dialogue, three dimensional characters, and an engaging storyline. I cannot wait to read the second book to see what happens next.
Great read, already got the next two in this series !!!
What a super fantastic read !!! Juliet and Ford are step siblings, growing up , but now that they are older, their situations have changed . They have both been sold, and have had to survive very brutal, dark days . And days..... Years actually. She was told that Ford sold her , and he was told that she sold him !!! Quite a beginning , right ??!! As the book moves forward , these two reconnect, and have to learn to depend on each other , and have each others backs , as the people after them get closer and closer. Many action packed scenes with a hint of attraction make this such a great read, I have already bought the next two in this series !!! Excited for the next book !!!
I really enjoyed this book and I can´t wait to read another in this series. Interesting plot, interesting revealing of the past of both main characters. I love multiple point of views, it is soooo gooooood to read also Ford´s POV and see how he feels, how he struggles and what he wants.
What I trully appreciate are another shifters. Not just werewolves. Oh, I am madly in love with wolves and werewolves, with no doubt. But phoenix shifter? With no memories after the fire? I hope I will be able to read more about this in other books of this series. :)
Sold into slavery by their alpha, step-siblings Juliet and Ford fight to escape and take down their 'father'. But they can't fight alone & their blooming romance isn't going to be enough.
Typically, this isn't my kind of read, especially the step-sibling part, but considering they barely lived together and hated each other growing up, it was easy to look past. This book is a super short read, but I haven't decided if I will continue the series.
Wasn't sure about this book but glad I kept reading
So a guy is put into slavery having to kill other shifters to survive his one thing is to kill his queen alpha who put him here on the other side is the queen who was sold to a circuses for deprived shifters she gets to die brutally then come back her one thing is to kill her step brother who solved her but what happens next
This was a very quick read with not a lot going on. Ford breaks out of his interment and rescues Juliet to be on the run. They squabble over where to go and end up being rescued by someone from his preferred destination. Surprise the president is her mother and she runs away. The book ends. Now you can read the second book.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
At first I wasn't hooked. It took me about 1/2 the way through to get into it. But I ended up really enjoying it. Unfortunately it abruptly ends, which kinda stinks. But I'll just have to get the second one!
The story was good. It had two different viewpoints throughout the story. The story seemed pretty seamless. Would be interested to know what happens next.
DNF. I didn’t make it past the second chapter once I found out that this is a cross shifter story. I prefer not to read stories where two different types of shifters will mate.
Alpha Betrayed is the first book in the Lost Moon University series penned by Bella Jacobs. My previous reads from this author were her The Wonderfully Witches of Nightfall, New Hampshire stories, and this new series starter of hers certainly has a darker hue to it. It's been a while since I last read a shifter romance, but this tale of stepsiblings who don't have a whole lot of love lost piqued my interest. Fair warning: This does end in a cliffhanger, which I'm a wee bit frustrated about because I had no clue that there was going to be one. (Note to self: Read blurbs even when it feels like you don't have to so as to avoid being the clueless wonder you now find yourself being.) Either way, let me just make one important point clear: This book was intriguing and exciting and now has me itching to get my hands on the second Lost Moon University novel.
Main characters Juliet and Ford hate each other, believing that they were betrayed by the other. But the truth could change everything between them. There's a heck of a lot of tension simmering, and it was interesting to see these two try to not kill each other AND not to give in to their not-so-hateful feelings for one another. Like I mentioned, this series starter does end in a cliffhanger, but the wait for the second book, Defiant Princess, isn't too terrible, what with the release date being April 21st, based on a quick check on Amazon. So, if you aren't the type to mind a cliffy and month-long wait when it comes to your paranormal romance reads, Alpha Betrayed is worth the read and emotional investment. Four stars.
Having read Ms.Jacobs's work a couple of times before i've been looking forward to reading more of her books! As soon as this one was announced i knew i had to pick it up next. I got right into the Lost Moon University world! I so enjoyed this first book!
Juliet and Ford's journey captured my attention right from the very get go! These two are stepsiblings that both think the other betrayed them. What happens when what you thought you knew isn't the truth? Can these two find a way to overcome their hate for one another and get their truths? and will they ignore how they feel?
I really liked how quickly i got into this world and the way Juliet and Ford kept my attention. These two had been through many things in their lives and i felt for both of them and everything they went through. It isn't easy for these two. I didn't know how they'd tackle finding answers, their pain, and their feelings for one another which got me into their story even more. I wasn't sure what all to expect and i liked how it kept me on edge. I loved that all throughout this story and it's characters had me feeling so much!
It was great getting into the Lost Moon University world for the first time and i really liked the uniqueness of it!
With Alpha Betrayed, Ms.Jacobs has created such a good and dark read that'll keep you turning the pages! I can't wait to find out what happens next in book two, Defiant Princess!
*I volunteered to read and review a copy of this book from the author*
Alpha Betrayed is the first book in the Lost Moon U by Bella Jacobs. I was so excited when I heard Bella was writing a new series. They are totally badass and full of suspense, fight, and unique twists and love stories.
Juliet was betrayed by her family. Sold into slavery for a circus. Torn apart every Friday night and now, she was being sold to an unknown. She would rather die than be sold again to a pervert or breeder. She didn’t know who she could trust after being imprisoned for two years. She wasn’t the same girl but she was a fighter. And when he shows up, she fights…
Ford was betrayed and he wanted his revenge. What he didn’t expect was to see his stepsister in chains, being sold to the highest bidder. She wasn’t his favorite person but she didn’t deserve this life. He was on the run from assassins and it was time for them to work together, if she likes it or not.
This is a fantastic start to a new series!! I am loving these characters and all the ways they drive each other crazy. I can’t wait to find out what happens next…
Quotes:
I intend to send rivers of blood flowing across my pack’s land. By the time I’m done, I’m sure my soul will be as black as night.
“You wish, brat. Keep it up and I won’t touch you again until you beg for it, on your hands and knees.”
“I don’t want to be his prisoner anymore, not even in my dreams.”
A slow burn. We want them. Crave them. And Alpha Betrayed delivered an incredible version of just that. Justice and Juliet were amazing as they fought to escape from the he**ish existences they’d been forced to lead. Years of deprivation, abuse and fear meant a revenge-seeking loathing for the person who put them there…
Even though they blamed each other, they quickly realized they both were the key to finding the truth and, together, they had a better chance to figure it all out. Trust was non-existent between them but they needed each other, whether they were happy about it or not. Betrayal was top of their minds even as they fought for safe harbor…
This was an amazing read from start to finish. You know when you start a book late, intending only to read for a few minutes, and you end up finishing the whole thing? No matter how long it took? Yeah, this was that book. My heart was invested from the beginning as both Justice and Julie broke free of their brutal captivity. It was heart-pounding and heart-hurting (how did they survive that long?) as they tried to outrun their captors. Their relationship changed along the way but with trust still not found, that meant a truly slow burn that was/is worth every page…
The cliffhanger was crazy good and has me beyond craving the next book in the series!
“One fire is dangerous, but with two…we might be able to burn down the world.”
Alpha Betrayed is a fast-paced, suspenseful read that captivated me from the first page to the last. Both Ford and Juliet had been betrayed by Juliet’s father and thought the other one was responsible. When they discover that this had been a lie, they find it difficult to trust one another, but join forces to reclaim their lost legacies.
“There is no future, no past. There is just one minute and whatever you have to endure to get through it.”
Ford and Juliet were both strong, driven, and passionate characters that were fighting for their lives and their future. Juliet was slow to trust Ford and was extremely reluctant to agree to his plan, but she soon realizes that she has a much better chance of survival by teaming up with him. Ford is realizing that there is more to Juliet than he first realized and that there is a underlying attraction that they share which he’s determined to use to his advantage.
“I just want to be allowed to choose mercy for once in my life.”
Alpha Betrayed ends in a shocking revelation for Juliet that promises that the future is now even more complicated for these two. This is not my typical type of read, but I immensely enjoyed it and am looking forward to the continuation of this series.
Dark, sexy and intriguing- great start to this shifter quartet.

Alpha Betrayed is the first book in this new series by Bella Jacobs. We begin the story learning of the unspeakable betrayals both Ford and Juliet have suffered at the hands of Hammond, Juliet’ s father and Ford’s stepfather. The action and excitement begin almost immediately as we follow Ford and Juliet through their escapes from captivity as they find each other again. There is an obvious connection shared between them, despite Juliet’s denial to both herself and to Ford.
As we follow these characters through this story, we learn about their past and the lies they were both told. There is plenty of action and excitement as this first installment unfolds, with Ms. Jacobs, in her usual fashion, leaving us with an edge of your seat cliffhanger.
Although shifter romance novels are not my usual genre, Bella Jacobs is definitely one of my must-read authors. I will remain on pins and needles until book 2 is finally released and look forward to following Ford and Juliet on their action packed journey.
Having been held captive in their separate lives of hell, Ford and Juliet blamed each other for their troubles. When they both manage to escape their captors, they must rely on each other to survive those trying to take them back. After blaming each other for their captivity, turns out both having been betrayed by their family. It takes both of them a while to begin to trust each other, but it’s the only way for them to find out what exactly happened to them. Both of them have their own plans to take over their pack, but they come to the conclusion that one of them is better, and move forward.
There’s an undeniable attraction between Ford and Juliet, but Juliet seems to be having the harder time admitting it. This story has a lot of twists and turns, and kept me glued to my Kindle. I thought this story was one thing, but I was pleasantly surprised to see it wasn’t quite what I assumed.
The ending shocked the hell out of me, and I can’t wait to see what comes next. This was a great beginning to the new Lost Moon U shifter romance series.
This book is the start of a new series by Bella Jacobs. While it starts out a little bit darker than some of her other books it doesn’t take away from the enjoyment of the story. So if the first few chapters upset some readers, I would suggest sticking with it because once you get past the beginning, it’s not as violent. Juliet and Ford have spent the last several years hating and blaming each other for the hell they’ve been stuck in. Each being betrayed by their own pack and left to fight for their lives. The only thing they have in common at this point is getting revenge on the ones who put them here. Will they be able to put their past behind them and fight together or are they destined to fight each other?
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**
Juliet was sold into the circus by her father, but was always told it was because of her stepbrother, when her stepbrother turns up to find her, as he too was sold, both of their plans change and Ford wants revenge on her father and his step father.
Both have spent the last two years just trying to survive the hell that they have been subjected too and find it hard to trust the other.
Both are being hunted, but when they finally get near to the University that Ford id suggesting may give them sanctuary there is a big shock for Juliet.
I really liked this book and cannot wait ti see what happens next, especially as we ended up with a cliff hangar.
