I’m going through it recently with these books mannnnn. But this wasn’t great. Way too much unnecessary information not enough character development. The language barrier is fine if there’s a solution that’s given in enough time…otherwise the whole book they can’t understand each other??? Smh!

Anyways. I like the world and the premise but this wasn’t great.

Great sci-fi read

This book has a bit of a slow start but don't let that stop you. The world building is excellent and really brings up a picture in your mind. The characters are great - Watai is so sweet and Mae is kind and open minded. I'm really curious how the story and their relationship will develop and am excited for book 2.

scratched an itch

It was good but, it got very repetitive at times with the wording and I had to swipe back and forth a few times to see if one page was identical to it’s predecessor, and alot of the times they were nearly identical. It read, sometimes, like AI. But the main male lead is kind and I was surprised at how low drama the book was, and how accepting the tribe is of Mae.

Avatar + Dragons + Fated Mates = My New Obsession

Across the Stars is a slow-burn scifi romance inspired by Avatar and mixed with dragons and the fated mates trope. It can also be classified as a First Contact steamy scifi. Despite how you wish to classify it, the novel has become my new obsession, lol.

The book is heavy with psychological and family drama because it follows two beings of different species trying to love each other. This is the reason behind the slow-burn (which drove me crazy and had me skipping to the end before continuing the read) and why it wouldn't work as a fast-burn despite my wishes for the contrary.

However, it was thanks to this slow seductive dance between Watai and Mae that I could enjoy the gorgeous alien planet where this book takes place. You read the different descriptions of the nature surrounding the two lovebirds and it's like being inside an Avatar movie. From flora to fauna, everything is fluorescent or has vibrant colors at the very least. And the cosmic connection every sentient creature has in that planet is nothing short of magical, but also heavily influenced by the Avatar movies. I love it because it was like being a part of the retelling of the previously mentioned films.

My favorite characters were Watai and Iskzo. God, those two made me laugh so much! Their antics and mischievousness, when alone or together, were the perfect comic balance to the parts where Mae and her doubts pissed me off.

And, of course that I have to talk about that sex scene! I'm so sad it was only one 😭, but wow, it was magnificent! Have to confess Watai's abilities left me tingling all over, lol.

Now you're asking yourself "why the 4 stars review?". Well, it has to do with the line edition of the book. There were a few sentences that sounded weird, some missing punctuation, and redundancies mainly in the first couple of chapters. However, what truly threw me off from the otherwise gripping narrative was the constant repetition of the characters names. It didn't happen in every chapter but there were some pages where almost every paragraph started with Watai or Mae’s name. That repetition made me lose my concentration on the book more than once.

Aside from this editorial issue, I adored Watai's romance and will be looking forward to read the second book since the cliffhanger ending left me craving more.

Avatar meets Pern w/a fated mates twist

Jade has overdone herself with this book. She truly knocked it out of the park with this new series/universe.

The beginning was a little slow, but it quickly picked up and kept me turning my pages all night long.

Epic unique world building, with fated mates and dragon riders (and it appears to be other types of creatures as well w/the mounts introduced).

Watai wondered why he couldn't find his threadmate... and Mae landed on his moon on a mission.

Their fates cross and now Mae wants to protect Watai and his people from being discovered by other humans... while falling in love with the male who caught her.

This is the first book of a slow burn trilogy, but I know Jade knows how to turn up the heat, and this feels like she returned to her roots (her long Project: Adapt series) w/her epic world building and interesting characters.

I can't wait to see what happens next after that ending... the hook definitely makes me want the next book. It's not a cliffhanger and the couple is happy, but it definitely opened some options/makes me wonder what's to come.

Thankfully, Jade stated in her newsletter that this trilogy will be complete this year.

Don't walk, run... this book is a breath of fresh air to the SFR genre.

Okay so I js watched avatar 3 and NEEDED to consume media similar to that but rn I’m feeling very much irritated and like this felt like a waste of my time it was sooo repetitive not to mention boring it felt like there was no depths to the characters everybody was perfect no drama barely any plot for a big chunk of the book this whole thing could’ve have been 5 chaps MAX instead of a whole book. Like fl barely had a personality girlie js went along with everything like shit was sweet mind u she’s basically being held captive but she doesn’t know or doesn’t care abt that cause she doesn’t even want to TRY to leave be so fr like okay you’re in an alien word n this guy is like ur alien soulmate BUT WHAT ELSE!!!!!!? im gnna try with the second book because of the end but if its the same boneless boring ass shit I’m dnfing fr this time

Across The Stars was pretty freaking amazing to be honest! The world was stunning, the bonds were too sweet and awe-inspiring while the characters just dug their way into the heart right from the start.

This book definitely had an Avatar feel to it but was waaaaaay more stunning! I loved reading about these incredible alien dragon riders! Watai is sexy and charming and honestly perfect! And Mae is a wonderful, likable heroine. This world was so beautiful and unique I was really amazed and hypnotized by it. I loved everything about this book and this world and am excited to read more!

I give Across The Stars a WONDROUS AND FASCINATING FIVE SHINNING, ONE-OF-A-KIND STARS!

For anyone who loves Avatar, alien romance, fated mates, and found family, you absolutely MUST check this series out. This entire world that Jade Waltz built is absolutely beautiful and reminiscent of Avatar while also being super unique. It was an absolute joy to read about. Also, the relationship between Mae and Watai was so gorgeously done. I think it built super naturally, despite the language barrier, and I love how they always held so much respect for each other. I am so excited to read the rest of the series! I can’t recommend this book enough!!

BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL!!

Once you get passed the first 5 or so pages it is amazing!! The very beginning is more so information of the planet but it was easier to understand from Mae’s perspective. Such a beautiful, tender, and affectionate story!! I can only imagine the visuals for this world. I felt as content as Mae did just seeing the new world around her. It hurts my soul to know that the book will be next year.

Avatar fanfic

Basically an Avatar fanfic. Human finds new world with needed resources. Falls in love with a local who rides a dragon like creature. They live in a giant tree that is connected to other giant trees in a large network. Human tries to protect them from other human’s greed. There is a fair amount of editing issues, but that didn’t stop me from enjoying the story.

The book starts off a bit slow, but once you find your rhythm (by page 50 or so for me), it's amazing. Jade's character development, world development, and linguistics are amazing. It was like a movie in my brain. I was literally eating the pages. I can't wait to dive into book 2 and learn more about this world and the characters.

Loved every second of it, the world building was perfect and detailed enough to have a very clear vision of the diverse and rich environment the story unfolds on. Personally I didn’t feel it was a slow read at all, I loved also that we get to know enough information of the characters and culture so that the real deal unfolds in the next books. Can’t wait for the rest of the series to drop :)

Slowwww buuurrrrnnn

If you're looking for a story with tons of world building, this is it. There's hardly any real romantic tension until close to the end. It was enjoyable for my brain to conjure up this other world as read.
