This is such an intelligent read, I am struggling to post a review that does it justice. The first book was enjoyable; this book put me firmly in the Nathaniel M Wrey fan club. The words, so beautifully written, draw the reader into the lives of the characters and their dystopian reality. Beyond that, the author has obviously studied history's masters of economic and political theories and is able to seamlessly incorporate those ideas into the story. This story will leave you with a lot to think about. I am looking forward to the next book in the series, and the movie that will surely be made from such a fresh and creative tale.

Where Liberty Lies Where Liberty Lies by Nathaniel M Wrey is the stunning sequel to his first post-apocalyptic dystopian thriller Liberty Bound. It continues the adventures of Finbarl and Aminatra and their son Karlmon as they escape Athenia and cross the treacherous mountains seeking a better life. However, fate has another outcome for them. Another tremendously well-written piece of prose crafted expertly by Wrey.

I hate to give another 5 stars right now, but this book deserves it. Deserves a movie series as well. Can't wait to see Finbarl and Aminatras family find Mandelton. Part 2 is where it's at! And part 3 is so action packed, you won't be able to put it down. The world created is so ugly and beautiful, and feels possible in about a million years or so. Such a great, intelligent, thought provoking book. To see the good and bad, the errors in humanity on full display and the consequences found. It was just too good.

I absolutely LOVED this book. I enjoyed the first one so much, I was extremely excited for the opportunity to read an ARC for Where Liberty Lies. It did not disappoint. In fact I think it was even better than the first one (which was amazing). The writing style was even more fluid and descriptive. The characters were amazing, both the ones from the first book and all of the new characters too. They are so vibrant and the character development creates such an attachment, that the reader feels all the ups and downs. The story itself is riveting and you become as lost within Parodis as Finbarl. I both wanted to read as quickly as possible to find out what happened next AND as slow as possible to stay in the world Nathaniel created. I could go on and on but instead I HIGHLY recommend this series to everyone who loves a good adventure/dystopian story with incredibly well written characters and an intriguing plot.

Where Liberty Lies by Nathaniel M. Wrey is a captivating continuation of the journey of Aminatra, Finbarl, Karlmon, and their companion Bokanda. Departing from the mountains, the group discovers a lush environment, replete with new life forms but also fraught with dangerous encounters with wild animals and ferrals. Nonetheless, this environment brings hope to their quest to find Madelaton. However, as their journey progresses, the group expands with new and unexpected members before they are abruptly torn apart, leaving them to confront the trials of survival alone. Will they reunite or succumb to the challenges in their path?

Wrey's masterful storytelling in Where Liberty Lies delivers a gripping narrative filled with a thrilling blend of action and adventure. The plot brims with an abundance of unexpected twists and turns, provoking a sense of anxiety and excitement that sustains throughout the book. The novel's midpoint marks a significant shift in the plot, adding to the intrigue and keeping readers engaged until the end. The characters in Where Liberty Lies are equally compelling. Aminatra, the strong and caring mother of Karlmon, is a standout character whose resilience and fortitude are thoroughly explored in the story. Finbarl, Aminatra's husband, exemplifies loyalty and protection, treating Karlmon as his own child and consistently placing the family's welfare first. The supporting characters are equally noteworthy, and although Bokanda's role was limited, it was essential, and he served his purpose well. Maddy, another character in the novel, is unforgettable, and readers will appreciate her unique qualities.

Overall, Where Liberty Lies delivers a seamless plot that expertly progresses. The story's twists and turns are perfectly executed, and the characters are well-rounded and memorable. Nathaniel M. Wrey's writing style engages the reader and keeps them invested in the story, leaving a lasting impression long after turning the last page. Fans of adventure, fantasy, and action will undoubtedly appreciate this second installment in the trilogy and anticipate the third book's release.

Where Liberty Lies” excellently continues the dystopian classical adventures of the remarkable Nathaniel M. Wrey’s Liberty Trilogy. This second installment tells of an admiringly heroic step by a family of three, that sees them embark on a journey to a supposed oasis for a better life. Things, however, turn out differently along the way, placing their resilience and hope on a balance.

Finbarl, Aminatra, and Karlmon are facing inhospitable weather and the rugged terrain of uncharted territories after escaping their destroyed home in Athenia. A once noble and civilized people were attacking any Athenian citizen who happened to cross their path. Now in the forest after having successfully escaped the draconian fiends, the trio is in for a rude shock when Finbarl spies something out there in the woods. A careful look sends chills to their already weary selves, as a wild face with piercing eyes and a snarling mouth stares back at them.

In this highly thrilling fantasy, silence is compounded with fear, leaving readers beguiled by Wrey’s inventiveness of a woeful menace. Danger upon danger lies in the path of the main characters, testing their solidity and resilience through the voyage. Private spats and open expressions of inner feelings submit to readers a relatable situation, where many people may have found themselves regretting some huge and risky steps in life, in the hope that life will turn out better.

Wrey skillfully weaves a fantasy that will leave you reflecting on some of our societal standards, convictions, and values that are supposed to lead us. This is characterized most intensely by the feud of the foppish democracy of epicurean Parodis and the Spartan cruelty of power-hungry Adonelis. The quickly-paced action, incidents, twists, and turns certainly declare to the reader why Wrey’s masterpieces are award-winning and why this installment, though voluminous, will leave them hankering for more.

The search for freedom by the three refugees creates a sense of emotional realism that keeps the tale grounded to the end. Overall, “Where Liberty Lies” is a stellar best-seller, that will delight lovers of reflective dystopian fiction globally.
