I married a prince...but the husband who came back to me has turned into a beast.
Shy, quiet Estrella is used to being ignored...until she received a letter from the one man she has ever Prince Lysander Allardi. Marriage to him, however, comes at a a quest to save his people has Lysander leaving his bride without even a wedding night, and when he comes back to her years later, he is no longer Fae...but a beast with the soul of a god. This new husband of hers is monstrously possessive but infinitely gentle, and Estrella finds herself falling more deeply in love. The beast in Lysander demands that she stay by his side at all times, and his wrath is only appeased when their bodies are joined together. But just as Estrella has allowed herself to believe that her husband finally returns her feelings...that's when she finds out Lysander never wanted to marry her in the first place.
The was endlessly ridiculous. I would never legit recommend it to anyone. But Jesus Christ, I just love this crap.
I mean, it's about a fairy man who becomes a beast, you know, to save his people...and then he literally has to fuck his mate to normalize himself all day long. It's like this was meant for me, that's all I'm saying.
This was so bad I want to give you a zero but I can’t so I give you a one.
How come that the climax of the plot is that mmc thinks his mate/wife/soulmate is a traitor yet he can read her thoughts and can’t be away from her for more than 4 seconds without fucking.
I don’t understand a single scene in this jungle of a plot. Not even the smut was worth it. I wanted the premise but it was just so bad.
So I forced myself to finish this one, because in spite of its many catastrophic flaws the story still intrigued me. Needless to say I would not recommend it to others though. I'm a little bit confused by the beginning to start with...
My first issue is that this book to me reads like a sequel book. It constantly references people and circumstances that are never fully divulged in detail. Which is quite irritating considering there is no warning at the start of the book saying read this first. Even in its classification on amazon it doesn't mention it being part of a series/universe/etc. And it's only after I get to the very end that we see a note from the author saying there are other books about the side characters. And maybe had I known that and read those other books first my experience reading this would've been that much better, then again who knows.
My second issue is the overall writing style of the book. Boy, is it bad. The biggest problem is the perspective changes. They happen mid paragraph! It is so disjointing to hear one characters inner voice observing something, to then jump to a different character in the next sentence. And this to me is the worst because the author mentions this book is a re-published title! Like how on earth did nobody catch this issue?! Its kind of a big deal, and something that definitely should've been fixed before getting published a second time. There are also flashback sequences that have no prior titling, so you don't know it's a flashback sequence right away. Just adding "previously" or "___ years ago" would've made a huge difference. You jump right from an action scene to a flashback, a boring one at that. Another big issue is the inner dialogue parts. You have a character who speaks mind to mind, so naturally those words are done in italics, which makes sense. But then we'll have a normal character just thinking something in their head and have it also be in italics. Then sometimes the words are bolded instead of italicized, very inconsistent.
Finally, I could nitpick about the actions of some of the characters, but honestly it wasn't that bad. I've seen characters written way worse. Overall I feel rather disappointed, had this been written better it would have easily been a 4 star read for me. Had it not been for the compelling story I would've definitely given it just one star.
As a side note I don't know if an editor took a look at this book, but if so they need to find a new profession because they suck at their current job.
So I had no earthly clue WTHeck was actually going on here or why, majority of the time... I have to say it's due to this Author's writing. Facts and sequences are so disjointed/jumbled, that they weren't making any real sense where it's easy to follow not only the storyline, but also the characters and their actions.. And don't get me started on this mess of grammar and mis-spellings here 😤
Through this ENTIRE read I had to mentally add missing words in sentences, and re-spell words to understand what was actually being said here.
Indy Authors who put this stuff out there and expect you to pay to read their books, need to make sure that they are not giving you a 1st, rough draft as their finished product.
Invest in Grammarly if you can't afford or refuse to hire real, LITERATE proofreaders, please. Cause this circus was just ridiculous. 😩
The only good thing about this one was it was VERY short.(185 pages) And I did sort-of like Lysander.. But with the "quality" of the writing of this story, from plot to technical, this book honestly should be free. Or at the very least on KU. One should not be required to shell out money 💵 up front in order to read this.
So no, I can't say that I will recommend this to ANYONE who loves this genre.
