The battle for the land has only just begun in Curse & Crystal Thorns, the magical and adventurous 4th book in the Fae and Crystal Thorns series.
The king may be vile but finding him is their only chance to save the court.
Chloe embraces Faerie as her home and is more determined than ever to save it from defeat. After discovering and using balance shards to create their own magic, the enemy mortals threaten to take over Crystalfall.
Chloe and Quintus must find a way to stop them. Their greatest obstacle is repairing their own broken bond, so that Quintus’s magic can be restored. Being forced to spend time together is difficult when they’re still angry with each other.
It doesn’t help that they must find a king, who is not virtuous or kind, but he is still their only hope. Without him, the court will be lost forever.
The Court of Crystalfall is made of glittering jewels, and with magic flowing through it once again, it’s more beautiful than ever. But Chloe and Quintus must act quickly to save it, or all will be lost.

I truly believe Kay L. Moody is a brilliantly talented author because she manages to captivate me every time I step into one of her worlds - and this book was no exception. “Curse and Crystal Thorns” was dramatic, angsty, action packed and full of twists and turns I wasn’t expecting… and the swoony romance was everything I could’ve wanted and more! Quintus and Chloe had a lot to work through, but I actually loved how their relationship develops over the course of this book. I also loved the strong friendships between the characters, and I also really loved the more prominent role dragons had in this book. I would highly recommend this book and this series to anyone who loves to read about the Fae and is intrigued by unique fantasy worlds!
Kay Moody is truly the queen of unexpected twists and thrilling cliffs! This book had it all, and once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down!
The majority of this book is spent tracking down the mad, evil king, but when no one can remember much about him, that proves to be a ridiculously difficult task. Maybe even impossibly so.
Since Quintus is determined not to forgive Chloe's betrayal (despite several of his own toward her, but trust a fae to not see themselves clearly!), the pair spend a good portion of the book at odds with each other. It doesn't help that they've lost their magic. But Chloe, dear, wonderful, flawed Chloe, finally begins to understand that her weaknesses don't define her. It is so wonderful to see her step into her identity as a leader, watching her surprise even herself.
And oh, the wonder of Crystalfall and the ingenuity of mortals who have nothing to lose and hope that just maybe they can find a place to belong is glorious. The Golden Shields was genius. And I loved Mishti more than ever. She is so fierce and so wholesome, and we finally get to see her being vulnerable. And there were wraiths and dragons--so many dragons!--that were surprising and awesome!
The character growth and the plot progression in this book were the best of the entire series. And I don't think any of the books have been weak, but they just keep getting better. I felt like I was there. I wanted to be there! (And for all you Nutcracker of Crystalfall fans, you're going to love all the crossovers!)
Finally, threads that had been teased for the past three books are starting to come together, and the ending is the most horrific yet. So much is at stake for Chloe and Quintus and their fae and mortal friends in Crystalfall. I cannot wait to see how Kay fixes everything that's still broken in her final book!
I received an ARC from the author because she knows I'm her biggest fan and have reviewed it more than willingly.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
And Kay L Moody did it again. Another book that captivate you for the first page and you can put it down. On this one it's always something happening, it's never a dull moment. Between the fantastic four (Chloe, Mishti, Quintus and Ludo) trying to find the king of Crystal fall and escaping the mortals controlled by Julian and Portia, they never have a moment of peace and quiet. The Golden Shields it's an amazing thing that Chloe created, she found something to united the mortals and the fae. The part they found the dragons and how the dragon have something related to their riders it's brilliant. The do I see something going on between Mishti and Ludo!? Chloe and Quintus relationship it's always going back and forth, but totally made sense and it's not forced. Julian it's a brilliant vilian, he is perfect to that role. At some point I really thought that he was the king.
This book is a quest for a long lost king and a battle for who you are. You just have to choose sides. Even though the ending is predictable, the storyline itself is really great. I enjoyed reading Curse & Crystal Thorns.
I had the honor of reading book 4 of the Fae and Crystal Thorns series as an ARC copy and there were so many twists and turns in this book that I didn't see any of them coming. An unexpected family reunion...or two, dragons and lots of them, gasp worthy injuries and deaths, a test for true love, and some very shocking truths. Just when you think the story would turn out one way Kay L Moody would flip the script and have it turn out to be something else. If you want to know what those twists and turns are I suggest you start with book 1 and read them all!
As always Kay L Moody knows how to open that door to the Faerie realm and close it behind you and not let you leave. She knows how to captive an audience and keep you engaged in the story without it being repetitive. And that ending!!! Seriously can't wait for the next book.
Chloe and Quintus are not on good terms at all, their bond risks being severed for ever, unless they can learn to trust one another again. She does her best to be there for Quintus, but she is pushy and over powering in her need to be selfless, and to put others before her own need, and this drives Quintus crazy. Crystalfall is under threat by the mortals led by Portia and Julian, out to kill them all, however more mortals are coming over to their side, and as they realise they need to find the long lost king of Crystalfall all must work together before it is too late. They battle for their lives with the help of the bonded dragons, as they strive to find the King, who is not really worth finding, as he is evil but needed. Treachery is afoot and though they suspect and cannot trust, they are really very ill prepared for how treacherous some people can be. This book ends on a cliff hanger as it seems the battle for Crystalfall has only just begun. I am really enjoying this series which is full of magic and fae against mortals battles, a bit of romance and beautiful descriptions of Crystalfall, however I still cannot stand Chloe and her insecure and fearful character so dependant on others to save her butt!
Where do I even begin! Curse and Crystal Thorn was quite the adventure. We are back with Chloe and her side kicks in Crystalfall Kingdom searching for the King of Crystalfall. The mortals are still sabotaging their every step. Julian and Portia are still trying to kill them . In this book Chloe becomes a leader to more than just her small crew. She discovers courage she didn’t know she had and she realizes that even if she’s not a fighter she is a crucial part of their survival. She and Quintus aren’t seeing eye to eye and their magical connection seems to be fading. The only way to help everyone’s wounds and their connection is finding the king. I was annoyed with Chloe throughout this book. She was so pouty and just ridiculous. Sometimes I wanted to scream out the obvious. They have to find the king who is not a good person but the whole time she makes it seem like he’s a save all. Quintus goes through so many emotions I feel bad for the guy. I was so captivated from start to finish. I can’t wait to read the next because of course Moody left us on a cliffhanger. The waiting is always the hardest part.

I was delighted to be given the opportunity to read and review the 4th book in this series by Kay L Moody.
We rejoin Chloe, Quintus, Mishti and Ludo as they attempt to flee from Julian and his band of mortals.
The relationship between Quintus and Chloe is severely strained throughout most of this book. Quintus seems determined to push Chloe away. Chole, however is stubborn and stays with him, despite his actions.
Quintus is severely injured by a weapon hurled by Julian, however the wound does not seem to heal, and any blood falling from this seems to have the characteristics of acid, even eating through the floor of the castle.
Our intrepid four need to find the King of Castle fall, return the crown and hope that with that the King will remember who he is and not only heal Castle fall, but also heal Quintus.
This is a very fast paced read, but as a reader you never struggle to keep up. Instead we race along with the characters as the story progresses. As ever,we are left at the end of the book with a true cliffhanger moment that makes you want to know more.
I highly recommend this book, especially if you have read the preceding titles in this wonderful series.
This is the 4th book in the Fae and Crystal Thorns Series. This is a continuation of the previous books so if you haven’t read them start with book one.
In this book our protagonists, Chloe and Quintus are still on a hunt for the king of Crystalfall. Will they find him? I won’t tell you as I don’t want to spoil the story for you. There are many things that happen in our protagonists hunt for the king. There are battles, emotional scenes and romantic scenes. There are even more dragons and fae. The interaction between Chloe and Quintus can be frustrating at times. There were many times I wanted to virtually slap one of them but I love the characters in the book and their storyline.
This book, as with the previous ones in the series keeps the reader engaged and you want to find out what happens next. The author also does a very good job of character and world building.
If you love fantasy, adventure with a little romance thrown in then I would highly recommend this series to you. You won’t be disappointed.

Wow such an amazing series. The author has really did a great job with the storyline and the characters. Each book just gets better and better. The world building is absolutely fantastic and character development is outstanding. I have never diliked any character as much as I dislike Portia & Julian. They are possibly 2 of the greatest villians I have ever read about and I am counting on an old saying, " good things come to those who wait." There has to be some justice for poor chloe somewhere. At this point our crew now is in the castle of Crystal Thorn. Quintus now has some sort of magical wound and the enemy mortals seem to have learned how to make magic from crystal shards. Quintus & Chloe's magical bond has been severed and they need to find the king of crystall fall to save faerie from the evil mortals. Since the enemies now have shard magic our group will need something better and stronger to defeat them and Mishtie has a perfect idea. There is just so much happening in this one and it will keep you on the edge of your seat. An absolutely awesome read.
‘We have to find the king of Crystalfall’ This rallying cry is the central theme for this tale of the despair of brokenness and the hope of repair. In here, readers will find examples of: Children soldiers. Missing memories. Troubled relationships. Exceptions for the wealthy. Low self-esteem: ‘I am nothing without my magic’.
Some tried and true solutions? A lilac- & vanilla-scented bath along with some cake. The answer to all our woes is always cake.
Some sage sylvan survival advice from the author: Being able to figure out worst-case scenarios IS a skill all unto itself. Destruction of nature begins with the trees – learn how to read the signs. Know how to build shelter, cook without smoke, fish & hunt, light fires safely, and keep warm outdoors.
Fave line: ‘Now I want a dragon.’ I mean, like, don’t we all?
One of the characters’ magic was in finding things – I certainly need a dose of that! Where do I sign up? Perhaps, I’ll visit the crew in ‘Wrath & Crystal Thorns’ to get me some of that.
Chloe and Quintus and their friends are back trying to save the world. It's more complicated this time because Chloe has inadvertently locked Quintus out of his court AND stolen his magic. Not surprisingly, he's a little unhappy with Chloe about these events.
I liked the series in the beginning, but as it continues, I am finding it a little more difficult to stay engaged. Chloe is becoming an annoying busybody who arrogantly assumes she is the only one who can fix things. I am not the only one frustrated with her interference as Quintus spends much of the book frustrated with her as well.
I am going to assume this state of affairs will not continue in book 5. The cliffhanger at the end of Curse & Crystal Thorns is going to take everyone getting along and working together to get the kingdom back to working the way it should.
The Mishti/wraith interactions are sufficiently creepy to keep me going until the next book is released.
Another fantastic book by Kay L Moody! Picking up right where the last book left off, there was thankfully just enough recap for me to slide back into the story. The FRICTION between Quintus and Chloe in this book was just so raw and painful. However, resolution was eventually found. Or rather, fought for with much tension on our end too!
Not to mention hanging on the edge of my seat, guessing at who the King of Crystalfall would end up being. After everything we went through in this book... I nearly screamed "No!" at the end. Yep, expect another cliffhanger. Not surprising since this isn't the final book, but the next one is. How on earth will they overcome the challenges that lie ahead of them now? Can't wait to read how Kay gets the characters out of this corner she backed them into!
So much danger, adventure, emotion, and so many epic twists! Don't delay diving into the newest installment of this series, and hang on tight!
A quest to find a mad king, a curse, and a war to find a place to call home. But how easy will finding the king be when no one can remember anything about him?
Chloe and Quintus spend most of this book fighting (well, he's fighting, and she just wants to fix their bond), but this does make for some fun moments. I mean, who doesn't love a match making dragon, I almost wish we got more of these attempts.
I really liked the Golden Shield idea, and we got some great scenes of the group coming up with ways to survive. Then there's mishti who is an absolute badass once again. She's definitely my favourite character at this point.
Again, some of the plot points feel repeated from earlier books, but I think we've built up to what should be an epic conclusion in the next one.
I received an advance review copy of this book, and this review represents my honest opinion. Thank you to booksirens, the author, and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book.

I really can't say I enjoyed this book. Don't get me wrong I absolutely loved it but who enjoys having their heart ripped up, stitched back together, then shredded, then miraculously healed which leaves you feeling like it could all happen again over and over.
Not to mention the turmoil and tension of escaping the bad guys whilst trying to find someone you don't really want to find but must find
And then the cliffhanger you know is coming (because all the others in the series have had them) but it still hits you hard.
This book is brilliantly brutal and throughly gripping and I can't wait till book 5!!
Did I mention the Dragons??…. no!! … oh well there are more of those and you're gonna love it.
First off this is not a standalone - this books jumps right into the shocking twist at the end of book 3 that disrupted, well, everything. Lots of spoilers for previous books - read this series in order! That said
Chloe and Quintus have this infuriating one again off again, I love you but I really can't stand you, I hate you, don't leave me dynamic. Except with them it is not over petty stuff it is real deep from the most touching poignant heartfelt sacrificial scenes to the utterly devastating gut wrenching betrayals - yeah, these two go through it all. This chapter of the story tests their bond unlike ever before and pushes them to really know their friends and enemies revealing alliances and secrets they didn't even suspect.
Favorite part? Dragons! Least favorite? that ending? OMG break my heart - the next book can not come soon enough!
Action-packed part to this YA romantic fantasy saga.
Chloe, Quintus and the "gang" continue in their quest to rid Crystallfall of the unruly mortals. This involves them coming up several times against Julian and Portia with the inevitable nasty results. The relationships between characters develop and some are fixed where others aren't. The story-telling is quite good and it's engaging enough. Still a bit too much introspection, "huffing" and "rage" for my liking but, then again, I'm not the target readership. Young adults could do a lot worse than reading this series and it can be recommended to them. There's one more part to come which should be interesting. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I am obsessed with this series but I don’t know if my heart can handle the cliffhanger! This book was one of my favorite so far even though Quintus and Chloe are pretty much at odds the whole time (maybe it’s the dragons)! I think we get to see more of their character progress as individuals which is so important. I’m on the edge of my seat the whole time and I love all of the twists and turns! The Golden Shields was amazing! Things are really starting to unfold and come together (even when it seems like it’s all coming apart). This is one of those worlds where I wish I could live and I think that says it all. I’m so exited for the next book! I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy
This is a very fast-paced read, and you get hooked straight away and never lag behind. We race along with the characters as the story progresses and a part of the story not just reading it.
The relationship between Quintus and Chloe is very strained throughout this book.
He really wants to push Chloe away, though she is not letting him succeed in doing so
Quintus has been injured and sadly it is not healing at all. In fact, his blood is acting a lot more like acid than blood- eating away at anything it touches.
They really need to find the King of Castle fall and return the crown. Hopefully, with all that doe. The king will remember who he is and heal Castle fall, as well as Quintus.
A fantastic read with amazing energy and top-notch world-building
Curse & Crystal Thorns is the fourth book in the Fae and Crystal Thorns series by Kay L Moody. Chloe, Quintus and the others have to find the king in order to save Crystal Fall from Julian and the enemy mortals. But that is not so easy with Chloes and Quintus bond broken and Quintus magic gone. Will they manage to work together to find the king or will they fail because of their anger at each other?
Curse & Crystal Thorns is a great addition to this fantastic series. I really liked the storyline and the character development. For me it was a little too much drama, but all in all I really liked the book! I can only recommend continuing this story, as it is suspenseful, dramatic and just magical!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Still love the story and most of the MCs. Kay does some great world building and gives vivid, detailed descriptions. Chrystal Falls is such a magical place, who wouldn’t want to see it back to being full of life?
I am a bit flummoxed with Chloe’s and Quintus’ communication problems though, as well as some extremely improbable fighting scenes.
However, I am glad that their suspicions about one of their inner circle didn’t prove true. I do hope that they’ll get dealt a better hand in the next sequel. Can’t wait to see if and how Chrystal Falls changes.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I'm not sure I like Quintus second guessing Chloe's feelings every second. They are a perfect fit so it was hard to read. I loved how Chloe is finding herself more each book. She is realizing her strengths and finally starting to embrace them. Portia and Julian are chasing close behind but at least one of them gets what they deserve and hopefully the other will add well. It was a bit of a Rollercoaster as the group tries to find a way to save Crystalfall and themselves. Excited to see where it goes next. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
CURSE & CRYSTAL THORNS began where book three, BLADE & CRYSTAL THORNS, left off. Chloe, Quintus, and friends must find the king of Crystalfall (aka Quintus’ father). Plus, Chloe and Quintus need to repair their bond for Quintus to regain his magic.
They decide that they need to distinguish between the humans fighting in fairy. Chloes’ side becoming The order of the Golden Shield and Julian's and Portia’s side known as the Zeakriesh.
CURSE & CRYSTAL THORNS is full of action, adventure, and intrigue. There is never a dull moment. The characters continue to grow. The story ends in a cliffhanger. I cannot wait to see where Kay L. Moody takes this serious next. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
Following the action from book 3, Chloe and Quintus are still hunting for the King of Crystalfall. But they have to deal with so many obstacles and Quintus is still very angry with Chloe although they have to work together to find the king. And they still have to deal with the mortals led by Portia and Julian wanting to kill them all. There are so many obstacles and twists and turns in this fast paced read that you just can't put it down. But I highly recommend your reading the series from the beginning. You won't be disappointed! It is a great series. I received and ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.
Part of the Fae and Crystal Thorns series, this book picks up right after the ending of Blade and Crystal Thorns. I would recommend reading the previous books in the series to fully enjoy this book.
There are tons of moving pieces to this story. The quest to save Crystal Fall by finding the king is continuing and foremost, but the group has many challenges to contend with that may impact their mission. Can they all work together to succeed?
Ths story also had lots of character growth and development at its core. It's a nice addition to the series.
Curse & Crystal Thorns is Book 4 in the Fae and Crystal Thorns Series by Kay L. Moody. It continues the story of Chloe's and Quintus' endeavor to save Faerie. The enemy is now embattling Crystalfall and in order to save it Chloe must find a way to repair her bond with Quintus and find the King of Crystalfall.
The series continues to be entertaining. Chloe is becoming more confident in fact a little too confident as she is beginning to make decisions without thinking things through and discussing it with the others, then those decisions do not always work out for the best.
I received an ARC of this book. My thoughts are shared voluntarily
Our favorite misfits are back and ready for adventure. This magical story is full of surprises, forgiveness, memories, dragons, and battles for the future of Crystalfall. This wonderful fourth installment of Chloe & Quintus’ adventure in Crystalfall will capture your heart & show you that even in Faerie, some things are stronger than magic.
Chloe & Quintus have a lot of hurdles and issues they have to deal with, not only for Faerie and Crystalfall, but for each other.
Will they be able to overcome them hurts and fears and save Crystalfall?
This was an emotional ride as Chloe and Quintus continue to have trust issues and Quintus is not ready to forgive Chloe for taking his magic. Chloe and Quintus have to work together to try to find his father and to save Crysalfall from being destroyed by Julian. This book is full of danger, action and it is so sad at times that it brought me to tears. I enjoyed reading this book and look forward to the next book in the series. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This series has been full of magic, adventure and wonder and this latest addition is no different. Action packed, we pick up from where we left off with a battle imminent between mortal & fae. The author weaves her spell and just when you think you are going in one direction, bam! it changes and we are thrown into chaos. Our characters have grown so much and been through so much and the world building continues to enthrall and draw you into this incredible world. Exciting and captivating, this has had me hooked from start to finish.
